Excellent variety of food listed on menu and of the several items Ive esten over the last couple of years, all have been great. Some folks give bad reviews for the rare hard biscuit, or overdond fries. Cmon folks- if you cooked food in the quantity the folks at the Brown Hat you are likely to have occaisional OOOPPPPSSS! I wholeheartedly recommend the Brown Hat in Woodway! Parking: Could be full at lunchtime.

This is the next best thing to Grandma s house-I miss her special dishes just for me! I have tried so many dishes and they have ALL been homemade, fresh, and delicious! Every friend I ve invited says the same thing. When you just want down the earth, local, quality fresh comfort dishes, the BEST dessert, warmth and a smile...GO HERE! Sometimes, when I work late and don t feel like cooking and I want a nourishing meal instead of unhealthy chemical ridden takeout, I go through their convenient drive-thru after calling ahead! I ve tried their homemade Chicken Salad Sandwich with fresh fruit, make your own burger (fantastic selections), Veggie Salmon Omelet , Pancakes (out of this world fluffy and yummy), perfect French Toast and WARM good syrup , perfect eggs, bacon and coffee, Fried okra and catfish with coleslaw, Fried Chicken Salad with to die for House Ranch , BLT with fresh mixed greens, Winter Chili, Potato Soup with green onion and bacon, Fried Mushrooms, Cobb Salad, and Homemade Macaroni and Cheese with a side of veggies....Favorite Desserts: Coconut Meringue Pie , Lemon Meringue, Chocolate Pie, Cinnamon Roll, Peanut Butter Pie ...

I stopped by for the first time for a quick breakfast and as I am eating I found a very long black hair stuck inside my burrito I was so disgusted and disappointed because this was my very first time and I was excited to try this place out this place will forever leave a bad taste in my mouth because ew the service itself was unwelcoming they weren t rude but they weren t too polite I felt very judged to be honest but I will not be returning

Went for lunch today with my sister, I usually get breakfast with my husband. The cinnamon rolls are large and always fresh. The chicken salad sandwhich was a very full and came with the chips. I originally thought they would have been housemade chips but they look to be regular potato chips. Even so it was great for the leftover chicken salad and the bowl of tomato gouda soup. The pancakes were fluffy and delicious and the cheese grits were the best weve had. All around very reasonable, less than $40 for 2 people with add ons.

Nice little cafe. Service was good and the food came out fast. For a quick bite I think its pretty decent but not outstanding. The food I think is missing some small personal touches if that makes sense. Like the omelette, burrito, and French toast we all tried were fine but nothing seemed special or unique. I didnt get a sense of anything specific that would set it apart from a competitor. A sauce, a fantastic hash brown or side, nothing that makes you go Damn that was really, really good. Thats not to say the food was bad. Still giving it 4 stars overall. Its the kind of place I would gladly stop by at, but I wouldnt modify my original plans or go out of my way to stop here. Maybe a return visit will reveal a sleeper hit, but for now it just seems like standard fare. Standard is much better than being outright bad though, so I think 4 stars is fair.

We got there on a Saturday morning around 10am. Asked for a table for 5. Host would not let us seat until half of our party was there. Two of us were already there and the rest was only 10 min away. When they got there. They had already seated a couple at a table for 6 where we were supposed to be seated. So we waited an extra 30 minutes. They kept seating all the smaller groups because they were waiting on a table for 5. However, there were plenty of tables for 4. So I suggested to the host if we could sit on a table for 4 and if they could pull an extra chair for us from the table that had 4 extra chairs. The host asked another employee who told her she couldnt do that. Finally after a long time of waiting the host asked if my solution would be okay I told her yes thats what Ive been asking if she could do. The host was very nice but due to Im guessing management she wasnt able to provide exceptional service by doing the suggestion and made us wait extra time. The food itself was okay, nothing special. The eggs, hashbrowns, and other food were underseasoned. Place was super busy and the waiter did the best she could.

This place is good great vibe and excellent service. I had the chicken fried steak with onion rings and mac and cheese. The chicken fried steak was excellent, and fantastically large. The onion rings were good, but not exceptional. The only thing I disliked was the mac and cheese as it was bland. I would still recommend eating here as most of their menu items are excellent and their service is phenomenal. But due note that as of July 2024, the online menu does not match the sit-down menu (the online menu is cheaper).

Our Brunch Bunch loves coming here. The service is wonderful. I recommend the chicken omelette served with queso AND a pancake. Savory and sweet! My friends frequently order the Classic Combo or the Pancakes. Their mimosas are wonderful! They have a Moms Happy Hour M-F from 8-10am! Vegetarian options: Pancakes for breakfast and the vegetable plate for lunch.

We stopped by for a late breakfast. We were not impressed. We have ate here for lunch before and really enjoyed it so were excited to go for breakfast. It was extremely busy, but it was around lunch on Sunday. We were all disappointed with our food. I ordered the Biscuits and Gravy, the were so bland and hard. It was served on a plate with just the biscuits and the gravy was in a to go container. My daughter ordered the breakfast burrito and it was bland and boring as well, no flavor at all, she didnt even bother to finish it. The pancake is just a pancake, nothing special. We added cinnamon rolls because they looked really good. They forgot we ordered two, the first one came out cold, then after reminding them, the second one came out so hot it burned my mouth. They tasted very strange. The service was good, nothing out of the ordinary. I doubt we will go back, the food is nothing special and there are plenty of choices for Cafe style food.

I ll start off by saying I don t usually leave reviews so for me to leave one, the service had to have been great or really bad . And today it was horrible . I placed an order for pickup 30 minutes before I came, I got there and waited at the front for 15 minutes, the host was just sweeping . The restaurant was not busy . She finally comes and takes my name , she went to grab the order but it was sitting on the counter in a plate waiting to be served to a table . She then told the cook to transfer the food in to-go plates . Who wants food that s been sitting out front on the counter that people are constantly breathing over ? I work in the food business, I know how it can be with guest sometimes but the service was a zero ! Also the lady that took my order didn t sound sure about the fried jalapeños being out of stock . Oh and I order food every day here since I work across the street and it s not bad all the time!

My family and I are regulars here and the food and service is usually awesome! However, we have gotten Lisa as our server the last couple times and we were not impressed with our service. We gave her the benefit of the doubt since the first time we had her it was super busy, but even with a slow restaurant, we went our entire meal without being checked on once. We had to ask other servers for basic needs like refills and silverware. I feel like it is not fair for us to go forgotten our entire meal and have to ask other servers for help and then we are expected to leave a tip for the server who forgot about us. Not to mention everytime we are seated in her section someone else always brings out our food. I worked in a restaurant before and understand the concept of food runners but seriously every single time we get seated with her this happens. We are also rushed when ordering our meals as well, I can barely tell her what I need/want before she is already walking away and half the time we are not sure if she even heard or acknowledged us. As a family we love brown house and love the servers! We have grown close to a couple servers as well which has been wonderful. But these last couple times with Lisa has been awful service :/

Great experience. Good food. Friendly, efficient service. Also really liked the different coffee cups--very pleasant! However, I felt strangely that the chair I sat on was a bit low for the table. Lisa is a fabulous server, food is always consistently good, the cook on the weekends makes 5 Star quality omelets, always perfect. What is sad is how the management doesn t pay attention to the condition of the restrauant! There are 3 lights hanging, barely over tables, looking as they about to fall. I made the staff aware of this in the spring, re-mentioned it monthly since and still no change. Secondly, the exhaust vent in the men s restroom is covered in heavy dust and lint. I noticed this when a piece of this fell on my shoulder. The worst part is when I have asked for the owners email so I could politely alert them to these very obvious issues, I am told I need to speak to the manager. Never a response. Please attend to these simple, noticeable items so to support the wounded waitresses and cooks you have. They deserve better.

We love coming to Brown house, we go every Saturday either for breakfast or the meatloaf. Yesterday I placed an online order that gives you a time for pickup, on arrival on the drive-thru I was advised that they were just finishing my order and it would be right out. !0 minutes later she came to the window and stated sorry I thought that was your order, they threw away the ticket so they had to start from scratch. I had to wait an extra 34 minutes for our meals, I am a nurse and pre-ordering after a long day is convenient, but this was uncalled for. Then once I got home I ordered 2 bowls of soup and received 2 cups.. I am very disappointed.

Brown House Cafe is one of our favorite spots for breakfast. They are very accommodating of young children. Their cuisine is always hearty, and good fluffy pancakes, perfect eggs, delicious bacon and sausage. The open kitchen is a fun attraction for kids to watch as the chefs work. We re happy and grateful every time we dine here. Thank you, Brown House Cafe! Parking: It is placed in a store front, with plenty of parking. Kid-friendliness: They have booster seats, high chairs, and drink lids for little learning hands :) Wheelchair accessibility: Curb ramps allow access to the sidewalk which leads to the front doors. If you re gonna eat here defiantly don t call for pickup or especially door dash they will screw it up. They failed to have any information stating that one of the items I ordered on door dash was a lunch menu so here I was waiting forever for food that wasn t going to come until after lunch (order was placed around 9:30). As a business if you are going to use an app/service to boost food sales make sure you re actually updating information correctly so stuff like this does not happen. After reading the recent reviews in last few months sounds like this place is just falling apart more than likely due to management.

Decided i would try some place new and i wanted breakfast at 2pm. It was fairly busy but i didnt wait longer than 10min to be seated. Food was good. I didnt like the fact that the waitress brought me my coffee with the coffee container sitting in my coffee mug. And it was touching my coffee. Not sure wear all that container has been before being dipped in my coffee. She never came back to ask how my food was or asked if i needed anything after dropping my food off. No refill on coffee either. Only stopped to ask if i was ready for my check when she saw i was done eating. Also didnt like the fact they let dogs inside to sit where people are eating.

Brown House Cafe is one of our local favorites. The food is always excellent and the service is always top notch. Even when they are swamped and under pressure they move things quickly and efficiently. If they are super busy and wait times are longer than normal, they will inform you of the situation so you are aware. It is always a pleasure to dine here and we love the family-owned atmosphere. I highly recommend you stop in.

Longest wait time Ive ever experienced before getting my order. Over 70-80 minutes just for a grilled chicken sandwich. I get that they were crowded, but I counted like 8-10 people working in the kitchen. Saw many tables get up and leave -- should have done the same, the food wasnt worth the wait. Wait staff were very apologetic, but its not their fault. This is probably more of a management issue. Dont come here unless you have hours to waste.

7/24/23 We had 3 handicapped family members out of town visiting. No Reserved parking for the handicapped. We entered Brown House around 10am and were told the wait was 45 + minutes, however 5 + tables were available. Disappointed we decided to go to IHOP, of which the host said we can set you at 2 different tables, we were not the only ones separated. . I called the manager the same morning to ask why they separated our family and she told me she knows nothing and was told manager would call the next day...NOT. I had to call manager (Mellissa) and she said I know nothing . I asked to speak to the owner and she said the owners never come in. Apparently Brown House doesnt care about their customers!

My husband and I wanted to try all the places local to Waco before we move. Normally, Brown House Cafe is pretty spot on when it comes to food and service. Unfortunately, today was pretty disappointing when it came to my French toast and the response from the waitress. My French toast was undercooked, soggy and wet. You could scrape off the batter with your finger. I informed our waitress and she immediately took it back for it to be recooked. A few minutes later she came back with the same French toast I had given her and said well I guess this is the best she can do and walked away. No apology or even offer to get something else as a substitute. I was very taken back with her response. The only reason why Im giving 2 stars and not 1 is because the rest of my meal was good and my husbands meal was good as well. I just wish the waitress didnt make that comment and offered to do something.

Ordered ground sirloin but got plain hamburger meat. Was asked how wanted it cooked and said said not over cooked maybe medium rare but got overcooked and dry. Ordered the premium salad that was a bowl of lettuce with two thin slices of cucumber, two cherry tomatoes and four croutons. Not what I would call a premium salad. Our fourth time there and fourth time disappointed and there will be not be a number five.

My first ever experience at the Brown House Cafe was a disaster, I orders the sirloin and eggs. For starters the steak was dry and had no flavor, second of all I don t know what they did to the hash browns but they tasted like they d been cook in dirty pans. Finally the eggs also had no flavor once so ever. WORST $16 I ve ever spent in my life. Almost forgot the English muffin was bone dry almost looked ashy, DONT go there.

This morning, I visited the Brown House Cafe in Woodway. A place I had never been to before because from the outside it gave me the vibe of some local place where they only sold coffee and I do not drink coffee; but a coworker recommended it to me, and I went. The place itself is not bad, but the layout of only tables and chairs is a bit uncomfortable. The place they assigned me was very close to the nearby table, so I moved the table a little for greater comfort and done deal! Now lets talk about what really interests you, service and food. The place was full, apparently the place is frequented quite a lot, but as soon as I arrived they took care of me and offered me a table. In less than 2 minutes, the server was already taking my order, and in 5 minutes, my order was already on the table. I thought that having been so fast, something was not going to be right, and I was wrong. I ordered a chicken omelet that comes with 3 giant pancakes. My companion ordered a breakfast burrito with bacon and hashbrown separately. Everything came out good. The breakfast burrito was perfect, and the omelet was delicious. But my favorite dish was the pancakes... Braaaah... Those pancakes came out straight from the Olympus and were served to me on a plate. The syrup was in a slightly strange container, and I would change that type of container. But really, go for the pancakes at Brown House Cafe. Those were insane and perfectly cooked! I called in an order for sirloin steak well done, broccoli with cheese and a side salad. Literally the only thing I got right was the salad. They left part of my order out and when picking it up they assured it was correct. Get to open the food they gave me queso and broccoli and the steak still wasn t cooked. Melanie was her name both times her attitude was poor she seemed more argumentative than assisting in providing good customer service. The steak has so much fat on it I would not recommend this to anyone.

This is a country diner experience. The wait staff was very friendly and engaged. The food was great and you get your moneys worth. I dont know where they get their eggs, but my three-egg chicken omelet with avocado and queso was huge. It came with a side of three pancakes and they were enormous, as well. I couldnt even finish it all. I will have this place in mind whenever Im in Hewitt with an appetite.

I really wanted to give this place a great review based on its rate score from previous guest. However, when you first walk in, this place has a down home, laid back vibe, and it was crowded and monothematic in its presence. (brown and more brown everywhere). I wasnt impressed at all. I was greeted by the hostess and was told it would be a few minutes before I could be seated. A minute or two later, the waitress took me to my table. The table and chairs look old and uninviting, and guess what...brown. Hmmm...Im not getting a good vibe of this place at all. Remember when I stated it was crowded? Well, yep. I tolerated listening to several young children screaming and crying while I tried to give my order to the waitress. I know its not the childrens fault, but maybe they were just as unimpressed and stressed as I was. Anyway, I ordered the French Toast with chicken sausage, grits and scrambled eggs, and a coffee. The wait took about 10 minutes...okay not a big deal. But when I got my food, again, visually, I was not impressed. It was brown except for my yellow scrambled eggs. The presentation was boring, my food was luke warm, and my coffee was bitter. Oh and the syrup container was covered in syrup droplets...seriously? See the photo I posted. Thats just nasty. Please wipe them off. I had no tolerance between hearing screaming children, cold food, and an uninterested waitress to complain and ask that my food be remade. People have a certain expectation of how they like their food served and how flavorful it is. Brown House Cafe is lacking in visual presentation, its environment, and bland food. If it improves on these three basic things, then it might get more stars and a more well-deserved review, but for today, they get a one star.
