Cheeseburger, friscoburger, fries, rings, shakes...oh, and their breakfast burritos and omlettes... are the best around. These owners have done a fabulous job at restoring that old-school diner flavor that makes a burger SO tasty. And they are open on Sundays too, a rarity for a gem like this. It is horrible they charged me $63 for two hamburgers and two kids burgers and a couple drinks. The hamburgers or smaller than the hamburgers at McDonalds in the fries were small and the food is nowhere near as good as it once was back in the day I have heard all week on the radio about James, Tasty, Barker, and I was skeptical about going back after getting food poisoning several years ago, the only thing they got going for him is they threw some pain on the walls and put some Coca-Cola beam figurines in a glass case the customer service is horrible after getting my food and seeing the portion of it I immediately demanded my money back and told them I did not want this food The lady argue with me and refused to give me a refund. I will never go back to this place, and I strongly suggest you do not waste your time, giving them any of your money because you will strongly regret it when your order comes out the prices are too high for the quantity and quality of the food. You can go to Applebees and eat better for the same price Jeans tasty burger is once again horrible and they will not remain open long. I was not the only customer last night upset with their food and the price of it. A lady came in behind me and bought two hamburgers and they charged her $40 for it she asked for her money back and they refused to give her a refund .

Amazing burger and onion rings. Drinks had that tap water taste to it but not intolerable. In an interesting spot in town but dont let that put you off. Not very big on the inside and I think the AC was struggling the day I went. That aside the food was awesome.

We just happened upon this place, and were glad we did! The burgers were absolutely amazing! The French fries were really good and the onion rings were incredible! (However, Im not sure if Id order them again. 5 onion rings for $5 lol) The burger had a lot of flavor, fresh veggies and was dripping like crazy! We will visit again for sure when we are in the area and tell others to make the trip by!

Food was pretty bad for the price, the burger was bland, and the fries were greasy and soggy. The inside is pretty old fashioned which was great to see and the people helping me were friendly, but it was just the food that was bad for 17 dollars its not worth it. 04/19/24 Edit: first let me clarify the top review was just about the most expensive burger combo you can get which was the double Lg with cheese. This time I went with a single Sm with cheese and it was about the same though the burger was a bit more acceptable at 11 dollars. The burger was a good size and will fill you up with the fries and drink. But its about the same I guess this is just not my type of place burger wise but maybe something else on the menu will be better. And also the cashier lady is probably one of the nicest people I met.

I had been hearing on the Bear 104.7 radio station that Genes was reopened and it had been years since I was there, so I was hungry one evening last week and I decided to check it out. I was really impressed with the remodel of the inside and I ordered a large Cheeseburger with Jalapenos, fries and a unsweetened tea. The food was outstanding, almost as good if I had made it myself. My Wife and I stopped by for lunch on Nov. 16th. The line at the door was impressive. The order taker was overwhelmed and needed help. I ordered a small double cheeseburger with large fries. The burger tasted good but there was no cheese. The fries are small cut and I feel like I received a small portion, not the large I ordered. My Wife ordered a large single patty burger with onion rings. She said the burger was good. The onion rings are obviously frozen. They were not thawed before cooking and several were stuck together. They looked like they had been run over by a truck, the batter was broken and falling off. All things considered, lunch was not a pleasant experience. The napkins that are on the table are the worst excuse for a napkin I have ever seen. Some were in the holder upside down but they tore (shredded) when you tried to pull them out of the holder, no matter which way they were turned. On a better note, the place looks so much better with the new paint and the new flooring. Feb. 6, 2024 I made my second visit today and I am impressed. The burger was made exactly to my order and tasted great. The French fries were larger than the shoestring fries on my first visit and were very good. The service was much better. My Wife and I will definitely be back. Thank you.

The food was fast, made from scratch, delicious, and affordable. The interior has been scrubbed, painted, and new floors, looks very nice. Service? Well, you order your food at the counter, they take your name, then ring your order. The receipt has a place for a tip. I dont like to leave a tip before the service, but I did. They handed me my drink and told me to sit anywhere. They called my name, and I picked up my food at the counter. Later, I needed a drink refill, I went to the counter and got it. There are big trashcans with signs to not throw away the tray. I bussed my table and threw away my trash. So Im not exactly sure what kind of service I tipped for. Again, the food was scratch made and delicious. It was out in under 5 minutes. But Ill not leave a tip if Im gonna wait on myself.

Genes Tasty Burger, in Wichita Falls, TX, is a hidden gem. Located in an older neighborhood, the building is antiquated , yet well maintained and clean. The interior is classic Coke red, black, and white diner style decor. The tables are an aqua blue and neatly arranged and exceptionally clean. The friendly staff greeted us with a smile when we entered. Our food was made exactly as ordered -- hot and fresh. I had a small classic cheese burger and onion rings. The burger was juicy and tender, loaded with veggies. I selected onion rings as the side. Wowsers, those were some were delicious, large onion rings -- battered perfectly, with a crispy, crunchy exterior, and tender onion interior. The onion rings were a generous helping, too! Side note: I noticed a cork board, next to the entrance and kia sign that read If youre hungry and dont have any money, these meals have been paid for. There were several receipts push pinned to the cork board. Now thats community spirit! Superb! They serve breakfast, too. Were gonna have to come back again soon. I highly recommend Genes Tasty Burger! Parking: Parking is adjacent to the building. There arent any noticeable parking lines... you have to guess where to park... unless theres some cars already parked, and then you just pull next to someone else.

We found Genes quite by accident when driving through Wichita Falls. We dont consider ourselves food critics BUT we know a great burger when we get one. This is by far the juiciest and tastiest burger that we have eaten and we have eaten Blue Sky, Coyote Bluffs, Buffs in Canyon, Bob Cat Bites in Santa Fe etc! This is worth the weight/wait!!!!! Onion Rings ( best ever) and Tots are great as well. I can only imagine what the chicken fried steak is like! Give Genes a try. Sweetest staff ever Wheelchair accessibility: Accommodations are good!! My son and I decided to try Gene s Tasty Burger for lunch. We both enjoyed our burgers. I had the small cheeseburger combo with fries. My son had the double cheeseburger combo with onion rings. The burgers were very good. The meat is thicker and very tasty. The onion rings were probably the best I have ever had. The fries were very good too. My son also ordered a grilled cheese sandwich. I just recently moved to town, and in always looking for the best food spots to dine at in the city Im in. I always saw Genes was really good, but were closed. How unfortunate! Recently I seen advertising that it was opening back up, and I was very excited! Finally got a chance to stop in. Brought my grandpa with me, upon entering, dining area was very clean and open, great colors. Lady who took my order was very courteous, restroom was nice and clean. I ordered large cheeseburger with first, and onion rings. Onion rings were phenomenal! Cooked to perfection! Cheeseburger was very very good, had that homemade taste to it, and the bun was nice and toasted. Fries were shoestring cut, and perfectly crispy. Price was fair, the quality was very well for the cost. I think for both burgers, both fries, both drinks, and a large onion ring, was about 32 bucks. VERY FAIR. Honestly, thats it. Very simple and effective place. Nice clean location, great service time to wait for food, and insanely good burgers and onion rings. For a burger joint junkie like myself, its perfect. Please keep up the good work! Im bringing my family back next time! Also if you guys ever get merch like Tshirts, Id totally buy some. I love supporting local businesses!

Not a lot to say about this place. The reason why I even stopped was due to all the comments on how good the food was. It was a waste of my time and money I got a BLT and 2 cheese burgers and it was the worse they put a lot of tomatoes on the food and they had an off taste. The meat was like it had set out for an extended period of time before cooking. Asked for an order of the chili cheese fries and the waitress didnt even know that they had no cheese. So I couldnt get that at all. My wife and kids stated that the food was just horrible and they got sick after eating I would not recommend this place to anyone

This place has become a dumpster fire. The most debacle of an experience I have ever had at a restaurant. It is unfortunate, as I loved this place as a kid. I can no longer manage the years of decline this place has been going in for a long time. I could get over the restaurant smelling like a toilet because the burgers were THAT good! Now it s a moldy infestation that can t even handle 12 people in the restaurant at one time. I walked out after waiting 45 minutes and had the wait staff had no social awareness to fill up our drinks or wonder how our table was doing. I m done with this place, and there are so many great burger joints in Wichita to choose from.

Overpriced for what you get, the dining room is uncomfortably hot, and everything needs to be cleaned. My food tasted fine, but I was charged $8.23 for a large single patty hamburger that was actually very small.

Food is disgusting. Burgers werent seasoned at all, bread soggy, and my whole order was wrong. Will never support this business again. Its really gone down hill these last couple of years . Should just close it down. Everytime i drive by , theres no cars there.

Pretty darn good burger the fries were hand cut and were cooked to order. The staff was friendly and efficient and had my order ready in a timely fashion during the lunch rush. This is an old school classic building and times have been tough, but the location could use a little touch up but all in all a good lunch experience.

Slow service. Spent most of my lunch hour waiting on someone to take my order and then get food. Only had a few minutes to eat after it finally got to the table. Prices too high for quality of food. Place has gone from quaint to run down. When I got my food it tasted fine. Dont think Im going back.

Tasty is the correct adjective for the burgers. Our chili burger and cheeseburger were both very good. The bacon was cooked crisp. Nothing is worse than chewy bacon! Tater tots and onion rigs wre perfect done. Tiny place with historic ambiance. Loved it.

Absolutely disappointed!!! Used to come here every Sunday with my great granny after church and I Absolutely loved the food and the environment. Now, well lets just say you can definitely tell owners have changed hands... I waited over an hour for a burger and fries... no call in orders and only 3 guests inside who were already eating there food... burger was wrong and raw fries sat done getting cold and they were wrong too... took my burger back to the counter and the cook literally right in front of me was just going to scrape everything and give me the same cold meat... horrible cook for sure!!!

I stopped in this restaurant originally for the sign outside but then had one of their cheeseburgers. Amazing, filling and just the right stuff on it. Not crazy about the onion rings but they are homemade and everyone has a different taste. Will definitely eat here again...soon.

Watch out for the family of cockroaches crawling on the walls and on the table. I have been a long time customer of genes but the most recent owner has let the place run to the ground. I have never had a more disgusting experience in my life. I let the owners daughter know and she still required payment for the meal.

I lived down Holliday street from Genes, in the 1950s... it was between home and Carrigan elementary school....a buger was 15 cents, pie a dime...General would cook it up in his old place. Bag if bugers was a quarter, etc therealmist daily...Gene was a great person Mark Robinson

I drove all the way from Arlington to revisit Genes because the food is SO worth it. The burgers still taste the way I remember which is such a staple in the town I grew up in (Wichita Falls). These types of diners are a dying breed in this day and age so I strongly recommend you support local business and treat yourself to an awesome burger & relaxed environment! Classic burger joint featured in Texas Monthlys top 50 burgers in the state. Everything is good here. Interior is a little rough but that is part of the charm. The Frisco is the best chili burger over ever had. Save a little chili to each with your tots!
