My wife have shared our surprise and delight over this place with others over th past two days. We loved it. The servers were like old friends, the owner of the restaurant shared the process of making the dumplings, the food was great! We liked everything about it.

We have passed by this place time and time again, and every time I see it I mention to my wife I want to stop there someday. Well today after church we were having a hard time figuring out where to eat. If you have not eaten at River Camp Eats I highly recommend it. I had the fried catfish and I will say it was good. The hush puppies were amazing. My wife had the chicken tender meal and the batter they use on that chicken was awesome and the tenders were juicy not dried out. The kids enjoyed their 1/4lb cheeseburger with fries they said 10/10 Dad! It can be pricey especially for a family, but I will say it was worth it, and I recommend it!

AWESOME service, INCREDIBLE FOOD, soooo good!! My husband & I shared the Cajun Envie plate. The blackened catfish with 5 HUGE blackened shrimp with all dished up on top of orzo pasta with delicious crawfish cream sauce all over the top. The sides we picked were Texas cream corn...oh so gooood, the best tasting Pinto beans, and the coleslaw (was a double serving & delicious). They gave us, by error, carrots again, awesome, not crunchy, not soft with a touch of brown sugar. You get 2 sides. We did order a 3rd side (coleslaw) & paid extra for it, no charge for the carrots. Because we shared the plate, we were able to order the OMG SO wonderful bread pudding with cinnamon whipcream on top. Cloe was our waitress. We never needed or wanted anything. She checked on us several times. ALSO, they serve FREE a Hurricane Mixed drink or a Margarita FREE. Everything that we saw coming out of the kitchen looked so good & delicious. This restaurant has the same owners of The Skippers Pier in Gladewater. We will be making the drive from Henderson quite often!! They do have a pickup window for to go orders also.

Have been here now too many times to count....never a visit that the staff wasnt friendly and accommodating....never seated at a dirty table...and never asked the waitress/wait staff for anything that wasnt addressed...disappointed that they took tye crackling off the menu because I LOVED them...but this place has good homecooked food, clean, and down-home friendly people. We have even used the drive thru...and have not had a bad experience. I looked carefully at the booth, wall, table, and seat before this review....and at nearby booths that were empty...all clean...come and enjoy!

I wanted to love this place but... we were on our way back home from shopping with our two grandsons at about 1 p.m.and stopped in. First time here. Ordered 2 meals off the lunch menu and was expecting smaller portions but wow! Much smaller than at other establishments. Also 2 kids meals. One grilled cheese $5.90 and the other was shrimp (5 shrimp) for $11.90 both came with a side, no drink. Were charged $2.90 each for small drinks! I questioned the waitress she said it was correct. So almost $24 for 2 kids meals. Pretty ridiculous.

I like to think Im a foodie having ran CCRCs, where food quality is critical for happy and content residents, in NOLA. and Little Rock. River Camp? We were a group of eight (3 children, 5 adults) for a late 2:30 lunch. Chloe (waitress) was attentive, accommodating and personable/fun. Food was fresh, cooked perfectly, the right temps and delicious. We all tasted each other s food or at least the items individuals were willing to share. My two granddaughters inhaled their banana pudding. Every item (ie French fries, banana pudding, chicken fried chicken, chicken and dumplings, blackened chicken, etc) were great. Lunch prices were reasonable and portions were satisfactory. I look forward to eating there when the parking lot is full to test my 5 star review.

Incredible food and prices, we love dining in! Havent had the best experience with takeout. They tend to clear the order off their screens before the order is ready, but when they do that it notifies the customer that the order is ready to pick up... so we go to pick up and end up waiting 45 minutes for it to actually be ready. So take that notification with a grain of salt, lol! Sets a faulty expectation, then the staff gets frustrated with you for asking where the order is.... this has been our experience twice with pickup, but had exceptional dine-in service.

HIDDEN GEM !! Entered 8:23pm Fri night. (They close at 9pm). Expected long, tired faces. Small brunette gal seated me. No smile, but friendly. Smart enough to seat my 62 tall 300+ lb. frame at a table instead of a booth.... right next to the window. SCORE. Quickly greeted by Sam (assume its short for Samantha). Immediately impressed with her smile and friendliness. Apologized for coming in late, she said, no problem, the kitchen is still cooking back there and were happy to get you anything you want. SCORE. Ordered chicken & sausage gumbo. Having spent a year in Lake Charles Louisiana, my standards for gumbo are high. Had my tea right away, and a short wait later, Sam brings me a HUGE bowl of gumbo, with fluffy white rice scooped on top and a couple of pieces of bread. SCORE. (was expecting crackers, bread was a nice upgrade). Gumbo in southwest Louisiana is really good, but often a little spicy and sometimes a bit too soupy. River Camp Eats hit a home run with their recipe. Gumbo is tasty, not too spicy at all, and most importantly, it ate like a meal. HARDY AND FILLING!!! SCORE!! Lots of sausage and chicken. Generous amounts of each. Some of the chicken pieces (shredded) were as large as the spoon. Taste was right on. Would describe it as more Texas stew texture than Louisiana gumbo, but that made it even better. While I ate this culinary home run, I watched the staff. Every moment there was someone wiping, cleaning, sweeping. RCE is a newer building, but they were cleaning it like they were about to do a grand opening.... and never missed a beat on servicing the customers. Sam anticipated my need for a 2nd glass of ice tea well before I needed it. SCORE. Lady I assume was manager made it to every table to warmly inquire if everything was okay and if the food was satisfactory. SCORE another one for management oversight. My server Sam was personable and friendly, attentive and operated with a true servants heart, without being intrusive or overbearing. She was delightful and took a moment to interact humorously with me. The whole place was infused with hard working, sincere, engaged personnel and the gumbo was a Texas / Louisiana delight. Cant believe it took me so long to find this place. RCE should definitely have a place in your regular dining budget. BTW, they were offering a free margarita, which I didnt take advantage of, but its not often a restaurant gives you something upfront for free. The Cajuns call it lagniappe... meaning a little extra. SCORE. MY OBSERVATION: This place should have a line out front and an overflowing dining room. Perhaps its the out of the way White Oak / Hwy 80 location, but I strongly urge Longview area diners to get off the Loop, and make the short drive to White Oak. If they can duplicate the performance and quality of tonights meal consistently, youd be brain dead to pass this one up! Wow... truly superior experience. Oh, and I walked out right at 9pm, and they still had a family of three they were serving with kindness and patience. HEY RCE KITCHEN.... AWESOME JOB!!! Thanks Sam. Ill most definitely be back. We had fried pickles for an appetizer alittle on the thin side but I aint complaining because we tore them up. I ordered a fried catfish and shrimp. We have just found a new favorite spot. The food was absolutely amazing I had the blackened trout which was cooked perfectly, husband had the chicken fried steak (he says its the best he has found so far) he also had gator bites and bread pudding and loved it all. Our first visit with several friends was good. The second visit we could not have a booth due to a meeting. The chicken fried steak was overcooked so much the coating crumbled and the steak was dried out and very crispy. Yesterday was our third visit with another family member from out of town. We wanted a booth but the girl said only table available. There was one table taken no other customers. The fish was a huge disappointment small not crispy and tasted fishy. The chicken fried steak was good that time. But we will not return the waitress said it was easier for her to clean if people just sat at the tables. The place had only one table of customers. When we told her about the food the time before the waitress said oh I know who did that. Very disappointed because we thought we had a new place to frequent but their food is inconsistent.

Really good food here! Everything tastes fresh! The fried pickles were a little smaller than I expected but still tasted great with the sauce. Also really enjoyed the gumbo. Drink order and questions about the menu were answered professionally. Jonna Lynn was very tentative to our needs during our visit. Boudin Balls were delicious along with spicy dipping sauce! 11/30/23 We came in right before closing and was greeted immediately. Dwane was our server and went above and beyond to insure that we had everything we needed and more. The food was amazing too!! My MIL wanted to try the gator (as did I). We had family from out-of-town visiting, so we came in with a pretty big group tonight. Even though it was an hour before closing, our server never rushed us. He was an awesome & and knowledgeable host! Instead of a meal, I ordered the gator bites (appetizer) and 2 sides (mashed potatoes and green beans). It was great, and well definitely come back!

Stopped in for a bite while on our road trip and couldn t be more pleased! Savanah our server was amazing and had great recommendations for us. She deserves a raise in all honesty! We will be stopping back in on our next trip

They practically rolled out the red carpet for us! We stopped in for lunch and were promptly greeted, given a seat and our orders taken. The portions were large and the food was yummy. Chloe rocked it as our server. Well be back!

Newer place in our hometown area, and its great! The food-chicken- fried steak, cream gravy, real mashed potatoes, fried okra-was cooked perfectly homestyle and delicious! Service was welcoming, attentive, and leisurely. The decor played up the old-style fishing camps that used to line the Sabine, Sulphur, Red, and Neches Rivers. Altogether, a fabulous meal!

Food was great...real mashed potatoes and fish fried just how we liked..only issue is I am black and every eye in the building was on us when we entered...Im from White Oak so it doesnt bother me, but my friend was very uncomfortable..Staff was very friendly and accommodating..it was the patrons doing the staring..

The quality and quantity of food is appropriate for the prices and is well prepared. Be prepared to pay extra when it says the item comes with two sides. I paid with credit card, and as sometimes is the case, I thought that a non-cash charge had been added. It turned out to be $2 added to the cost of the item that supposedly came with two sides($1 per side). The detailed receipt printed out after payment was made. If that was a clerical error due to an inexperienced cashier, Ill Overlook it.

We had dinner here yesterday afternoon. We ordered to go. The food was hot and well prepared. The lady who took our order over the phone was very nice and friendly, and so was the lady who gave us our order at the window. The chicken fried chicken and the vegetables were very good. The gumbo, however, was not really gumbo at all. There was lots of chicken, but very little sausage and even less flavor.

Wanted to try this place, but I cannot knowing they pay employees 7.25 an hour. I cannot support a company that expects people to lower their worth like that. Indeed has a job post for 7.25 for a host. Assuming that person worked 40 hours a week they would barely make 1000 a month. Thats not even enough to pay rent to live in someone elses house.

Weve only been in for lunch so far. The lunch portions were just right. The only critique from me was that the broccoli was a bit over salted. The mashed potatoes are real potatoes with the skins and are perfect. Will definitely go back.

You can tell some of the staff is still training. The food is modest portioned for the price. But it tastes good and their vegetables (even the steamed broccoli and creamed corn) are amazing. Finding places that serve sides other than and iceberg salad, potatoes and bland microwave veggies was refreshing. Vegetarian options: You can order three sides as a meal you get a vegetarian plate. :)

Crawfish Etoufee special and Cajun Envy was delicious! Everything has a balanced seasoning that doesnt overpower, letting the food speak for itself. Boudin balls were moist and delicious. Everyone was friendly and communicated well. Comfortable, relaxed atmosphere.
