The Rainbow Bridge is in SE Texas on Hwy 87/73 and connects Bridge City (Orange County) to Port Arthur (Jefferson County). It is not located on Edgar Brown Dr and is nowhere near West Orange. It was my work commute for over 10 years.

Pure sadistic bowel shaking torture device. Worse than Mackinac or Chesapeake or skyway bridges. Insane grades, low guardrails, way too high. Psychotic Speed Racer drivers hellbent on terror., 35 mile detour is worth it.

Ohhhh no!!!! NEVER AGAIN. Omg I was soooooo scared. My hands were so sweaty I felt like I never got to the top I literally wanted to stop 1/2 ways there but as I decreased speed, I felt I was going to flip back. And the rails?????? Oh gggeeezzzz so low I went to left lane thinking it was going to feel better, but no no no neither side was making things better. I wanted to pass out. Thank you Lord for helping me get thru this

Very fun drive to make. Due to traffic on I-10, we detoured through Orange, Bridge City and Port Arthur. We were happy to go this way and see parts of Southeast Texas we had never seen before.

I was visiting this area of Texas, and my friend, Anna, insisted on taking me across this bridge. As you can see from my profile pic, I wasnt driving, and was just a passenger, but I had a great time. First of all, almost no water got in our vehicle which was a big plus, because Ive been on many other bridges in my time where unfortunately, that just wasnt the case. You can tell that this bridge is really well made. The views are really nice too. I particularly liked the view of the top of Annas head when we pulled over near the apex of the bridge, and she proceeded to S my D like she lost her keys in it. it was really special. All in all, I had a great time going up, and Anna going down on this bridge. My only complaint is that it there werent any bike lanes.

Once hailed as the second tallest bridge in the US, the Rainbow Bridge currently holds the title of tallest bridge in Texas. It is truly something to experience. I cross it every work day, traveling home from work. It is nothing to take lightly. The snow picture, below is what we experienced in February 2021, when the entire state froze. It was impassable for a little over a week.

Had to have the experience of this bridge while in the area. It did not disappoint. Surprisingly fast speed limit over it. Low side rails. An exhilarating experience to say the least. Beautiful engineering site to see. Both the old and the new bridge. Most driving over are used to it so speed limit doesn t seem to apply much so be prepared.

I drove over the rainbow bridge in 2014. I was traveling to Port Arthur for the first time. I saw it way ahead in the distance, and thought to myself, thank goodness Im not going over that, well I was wrong! It actually is amazing and a little bit scary! When I got to my boyfriends apartment, I told him about the bridge, he thought I was crazy because he hadnt seen it yet. Well when I made him drive over it, he understood the BIG DEAL of it! Ive told many people about since then. It is definitely worth seeing! The pictures dont do it justice though, you have to see it in person.
