We were seated and then had to go ask to have someone come take our drink orders. That was 15 minutes after being seated. After that, the service was good. The steaks were terrible. Both steaks were bad cuts of meat and mine was overcooked. The fried mushrooms and onion rings were wonderful. And, the beer was cold. Upon complaining about the food, we were comped everything but the beer. I have eaten here many times in the past, and well give them at least one more try. Everybody has a bad day.

I ordered 2 plates, 1 being chicken fried steak, no gravy, no rolls, I got charged for an extra plate that I didn t even order and my total was $75 I was unsure why it was so high but didn t check until I got home. Never again. I ve eaten here since I was a child and I ve never gotten chicken fried steak with no gravy I ve never spent $75 on a dinner there and they send no rolls. The chicken fried steak tastes like it s frozen chicken friend steak. Make no sense at all. Super disappointed and won t eat there again. Advise: Changing product to save money when you own a business is the wrong move. Make sure your employees know their job and what all goes in a to go order.

Been here many times but was very disappointed this time, for lunch...I had a ribeye...it was so covered in black pepper I could barely eat it! Also, I order medium rare, and I could hardly chew it, it was so tough and full of gristle. Im not one to complain or gripe, but, wow, this was terrible! My husband had catfish, it wasnt even DONE....all MUSHY...he couldnt eat it all...he ate what he could tho, because our bill was $53!!!!!! Sad....... Never again.

First time there. We should up just before 8 pm and didnt know they closed at 8 pm but they welcomed us inside to eat. Service was great. The food was good for the most part. No complaints about the chicken fried steak and the green beans. The salad was not bad but dressing options were limited. I would recommend this restaurant and will be going back.

We hired Lonestar to cater our wedding and the did NOT disappoint. From the very start up to the day of the wedding, they were very sweet, and easy to communicate with anything that we possibly needed or were concerned about. Nikki + Scott answered any questions we had and worked with us to help create the vision we saw for serving our guests. Comfort was what we were going for and it is exactly what they serve! All of our guest were SO pleased with the food and I am very happy with how they set up the buffet to serve our guests. The workers are very sweet. We even went in for a tasting before the wedding and were treated like a Queen and King. Thank you SO much Nikki, Scott + catering team! Highly recommend and cant wait to return to visit Waco. We will definitely pop in the restaurant for some delicious food + great service!

So my wife and I went there this evening for dinner on June 15 and there was a huge crowd that had just gotten there. I don t know it might ve been more than 20 people in one group anyway the waitresses were heroes even though they hadn t planned for so many people that night. They were cheerful and took care of everyone and the food was amazing, so kudos to the staff at the lone star steakhouse y all don t forget about this place. It s amazing.

Driving through from San Antonio to Tyler, I saw this and thought why not stop and try it? Had the Lone Star 7 oz steak and it was tender and full of flavor! Two sides, so I had a small salad and onion rings and I have to say, these were the best onion rings Ive had in ages!--not the overly breaded type and just good. Then I treated myself to amaretto bread pudding with ice cream--OMGAWD THIS IS TOO GOOD!!! The inside was welcoming and homey and the staff friendly! If ever I make this trip again, I know where Im stopping to eat!

Was there to celebrate a college graduation. Do not let the outside fool you. The people are good, salt of the earth people. We had a large party, so it only makes sense that the food took a lil longer to come out. But when it did, it was worth the wait. Everyone got their food at the same time. The food was hot and flavorful. I had never has sauteed onions and tomatoes. Wish I had had them before. I would go again and I would recommend it!

Atmosphere is great; I love greasy spoon type places; the food is usually good--but not here. Service was decent. Food was disappointing. Mashed potatoes are instant. Gravy is instant. Chicken fried steak was OK. Ribeye was most disappointing steak in my life. They adjusted the ticket but food like that is uacceptable. Beer wasnt quite cold enough. Onion rings that were crunchy were good but the ones that were rushed and soggy around the edges were awful. Needs to just close down and for gosh sakes dont let them cater! Itd be a disaster.

Staying at Waco Surf, this is a must stop for southern comfort food. The best sweet tea, country fried steak, huge side of fried okra and a decent garden salad all for reasonable price. The atmosphere has animals on the wall and you definitely get the small town tavern charm. Lone Star Tavern and Steakhouse & Catering is located on Bellmead Dr, right off Hwy 31 W. Weve been to Lone Star Tavern and Steakhouse & Catering once before while passing through Waco and made it a point to stop in again on another trip through Waco. Ordering is really simple, from a large paper menu just circle the items youd like, thats it, that simple. And theres a reason their Wacos oldest steakhouse, the food is really good. This trip, our group ordered a couple Lonestar steaks, which is a 7 ounce Akaushi sirloin, with ranch style beans and a baked potato, chicken fried steak and chicken tender meal with fries. The steak was soo juicky and full of soo much flavor. And both the chicken fried steak and chicken tenders were cooked perfectly as well. Our server was very friendly and attentive. They have some cool wall hangings that are cool to look at. Come on in if you havent yet, Ill be back the next time Im passing through Waco again. Parking: Parking in the front of the building or on the side.

I ordered chicken fried steak dinner . I got home witch I live 20 min from there didnt get my gravy . Well that ruined my whole dinner . Who eats chicken fried steak no gravy . I called and told them I wanted my money back and I wasnt gonna go there that same night Ill take it back the next day. Manger said I will have OWNER CALL U . Took my info and said that they were closed till Wednesday. I held the food in fridge for 2 weeks never got call back . Food went in trash . I didnt get good service or good response. **WEDDING CATERING** What can I even say? I have been so grateful for Scott and Nikki from our first tasting. I had a bit of venue chaos and ended up having to move our venue 8 months before my wedding to 200 miles away. No questions asked, they made it happen for me. Not only were they wonderful to work with but the food was affordable and amazing. The guests raved about it. Do not sleep on this restaurant or their catering. Mine actually tasted like it was starting to turn. A lot of gristle as well. The steaks were cooked perfect but besides that not so good. I remember this place as a kid and it was delicious. We were looking for a place for our Anniversary and chose to try the oldest steakhouse in Waco. We had an amazing waitress Sydney who was so helpful and gave us great recommendations. We had the Ribeye for 2 which is two 10 oz ribeyes with salad and sides for two for $35 with two rolls. It is a lot of food for the price. The steaks were so tender and flavorful. You would not be disappointed with the food. The staff were so much fun. Especially Joni who was a sweetheart. We did try the brownie and it was okay. A little dry and a little burnt but that does not take away from the meal. Definitely a locals hangout and definitely worth checking out. You will love it

I can remember coming to this place since I was younger, years ago but my experience here Saturday night 2/3/18 was less then good and the service from my waitress was less then polite did not feel very welcomed to be there. Me and my girlfriend both ordered the steak and shrimp thinking we would get what we paid for the waitress was anything but helpful with our order she made it seem like it was an inconvenience us showing up an hour before close? I ordered my steak medium my girlfriend ordered hers medium , well both of ours steaks were overcooked and dry. The waitress was unattentive not checking on us to see if we needed anything we were constantly having to look around to ask for drink or condiments. We were very disapointed it was sad that I bragged to my girlfriend about how awesome this place was only to be disappointed and hear her say she would never go there again. We tipped appropriately for the service we recieved. Do not remember the waitress name as she never introduced herself but she was older long hair glasses and a light blue shirt. This was the first time I had been here with this experience I am willing to give it another chance as I have been here several times and feel like this place is a historical landmark but there are to many competitive steak houses around for the owners not to do everything they can to make this place the best. I was accused of take $5 ty of the table. The table had just been cleaned. Nothing was on the table. I had a coupon for a free chicken fried steak with a purchase. I pulled it out of my husbands pocket to tell waitress what I wanted. I said look what I found 5 dollars and put it back in his pocket. A waitress came and ask if there was money on the table I told her no maam. Then the manager came over said he was told by 2 different people I took the $5 off the table. I explained and told him Im not a theif. There is no way I would take tip off a table. He left returned with food and apologized for accusing us. All I could say was Im not a theif. He just kept apologizing. Then told us he would pay our ticket. I thank him. Just make sure you do not pull money out of your pocket. You might get accused of taking tip money. Not sure when or if Ill go back.

It has been a long time since I ate at Lone Star but I am glad I revisited it. The food was outstanding and the service was great. I went here for my grandmothers 92 birthday with our family and not only were they able to seat us all but everyone was waited on in a timely manner. I had the 8oz filay minion with bake potato and a dinner salad. My steak was cooked to my liking and had a lot of flavor. I will definitely be back again. Great place friendly staff and good food.

Restaurant was very clean. Staff and service were really good. However, the chicken fried steak was dry and overcooked. The gravy which was served on the side, was very thick. So restaurant and staff get passing grade, food gets failing grade.

The service was very good. They food was good. Its been a long time since I ate at Lone Star Steak House. It was before the owners that have it now bought the place. The steaks back then was VERY THIN & the chicken fries had very little meat & a lot of crust. They are not like that no more. Good steaks & good chicken fries. Again.
