Attended the Waco Indie Film Festival for one feature film ( Breakup Season ) screening recently. The acoustics harmed the experience greatly muffled, reverbed. There were no subtitles to make up for this. The screen was relatively small, too.

Just saw a Johnny Cash and Roy Orbison tribute and really enjoyed it. Parking was easy, just a half a block away. Comfortable seating, we were on the 6th row, so great seats. Tickets purchased online several weeks ago. The entertainment and sound were great! Would definitely go back again. Venue was very nice, and just the right size to be easy-in and easy-out. We had dinner at the 1928 after and it was great! Terry Blacks BBQ is new and right down the block as well, as is Pivovar is you want German style food. Many choices, ample parking on a Sunday evening.

This is an historic building that, like the Tardis, seems bigger on the inside. When I say historic, I mean it, they have photos lining the hallway outside the theater with several famous vintage acts. Once you get used to the seating arrangements, everything makes sense (seat 1 to 4 on each row are on the far right with an aisle separating it from seat 5 and up until another aisle and 4 more seats on the left.) We saw several people sit in the wrong spots and adjust when someone came for the seat. It is a smaller more intimate venue which I think is perfect for some shows. Parking can be confusing so get there early and drive around a little. The sound is good and I expect to see several shows here.

The Hippodrome is a great historic venue of Waco. I dont believe the Waco Comedy Jam was a good look for them. I get comedy can be crude and unapologetic as an art form, but it wasnt funny. To be crude and also not funny isnt a good look. Seemed like some friends got together and threw together a scheme to make some extra cash. Im not counting out the Hippodrome in the future, but this experience missed the mark.

I will never take anyone ever to the waco Hippodrome again! You must have hired the worst sound guy ever. The balcony speakers weren t even on! The biggest waste of money ever! All the sound came from the front for the Rodney Carrington comedy show. I inform 4 people about it and was told it was checked before the show started. Everyone around me agreed it was horrible! We just heard the echo of the laughter from the people on the first floor! Very dissatisfied and will never go back again! Biggest waste of $ 150.00.

beautiful venue... seats are uncomfortable and tight (yeah, I could lose a few lbs, but the entire row had to vacate for anyone to go to the restroom) ... ticket taking was weird because it was all on a call sheet so printed and mobile tickets didnt mean anything... plus, it seemed like you could just walk right past them... just strange

Disappointing. At the door, the attendant informed us that my theatre partner and I were not seated together, but were six rows apart. After visiting the box office manager, we were told that we had been given incorrect information! This was just the first part of an unorganized evening. The sound system was poor and there was distortion and feedback throughout much of the performance. Additionally, there were also no ushers to help with seating and many people were sitting in the wrong seats. We probably will not return.

We were there for the film festival. Every time I go to the Hippodrome,i regret it. The chairs are terrible but not half as bad as the sound system. It sounds like a shrill megaphone and you cant understand half the spoken dialog, while there are perfectly good movie style speakers hanging left and right in the walls that are not used. It may be a decent vanir for live theatre, which they dont do anymore, but the worst place in town to see a movie.

I would normally not write a complaint, this place can be amazing and I have seen several concerts here. Post Covid their customer service has gone down hill. Concerts had to be cancelled (which I completely understand). However, in the refunding of my tickets they kept a percentage out. Why? I didnt cancel it. I would have gladly gone to the concert when it was rescheduled. But I let it go. Then after two reschedules the next concert was cancelled. The percentage was held out again. Ridiculous, but whatever... I was sent an email stating if I bought the tickets 90 days prior I would get a check in the mail. Well I bought the tickets pre-covid so I should get a check. No Check. So I emailed and was told maybe (MAYBE) they refunded my card. No Refund. So I asked how they returned me purchases price to me and the answer has been for them to say nothing... So far I am not impressed with how they are handling themselves.

The play of C. H. Lewis was was beautifully acted out . Mr. Payne was brilliant and took you into the very essence of Mr. Lewis and walked you into his period of time. He included laugher to spice drama and kept your attention. I was very disappointed though that there were no refreshments available. Another issue is that I had difficulty understanding everything said due to the acoustics of the Hippodrome. The play was A1, the Hippodrome could have made the entire experience so much more pleasant and enjoyable had they been better prepared to host such an event; especially since most of us waited over a year and held tickets that cost $60 piece then they also cut tickets half price for this showing. I felt cheated by the Hippodromes poor service since I and many there had to paid the full price then not have the ability to have refreshments during intermission.

My friend and I went to brunch Sunday July 27 in the high top. the tables weren t clean so it was a little discouraging especially in a pandemic. We finally received our food and I m a little disappointed that the waffles have changed, but it happens. My real complaint is my eggs were cold and the the chicken was bland. I told the bartender my eggs were cold and (not her specifically) but my eggs were put in the heater/ microwave. I know that because when I got my eggs back the plate was scorching hot to the touch, but my eggs were still cold. It was just disappointing. Love the setting though.

Very nice seats that recline. The popcorn was highly over seasoned to the point of being inedible, and was a tad expensive at $7.50 for a medium sized bag. Drinks are $4.50 a cup. The attendants were very friendly and helpful. All in all we will return just wont partake the concessions.

Had a great experience at the Hightop in the Hippodrome. It was our first time and it was very busy when we got there. A manager went right up to us to help us get drinks. Once she brought the drinks, she also introduced us to Johnathan. He was very attentive and a good waiter. Will bring my family and friends back. The Hippodrome is one of the best places in Waco! The theater is my favorite because the recliner seats are the most comfortable I have ever experienced. Absolutely terrible. Asked for a bag of popcorn.... got a bag of salt. Twice. And the Dr. Pepper float had caramel ice cream instead of vanilla and that normally wouldnt be a problem but I just so happen to find caramel ice cream disgusting. The movie, recliners, and sound are always good. However, at 6pm to 8pm on a Saturday night... I would have expected there to be more than 1 server between 2 theatres. Im still technically waiting on an item, I ordered before the movie started, and I paid for it. The waiter did not take it off my ticket or even offer. The manager did not offer to take it off. We also did not receive our bill until we were leaving the theatre after waiting until the lights came on after the movie to figure out where to pay since we never received the check. *no one in the theatre did prior to the lights coming on and people exiting* We ended up paying in a room with a sign that said employees only area. Customer service was terrible to say the least. We frequent this business pretty often and always buy extras... Not sure our family will return again. I feel like we have given plenty of opportunity. ****UPDATED ON MARCH 17th 2020**** After leaving my review, I was asked to email them with contact info. I was told in the email that it would be forwarded to management and would be handled. 2 weeks ago, is when I was told this. They had no problems taking my money for something I did not receive, but cannot call/text/email me back about the situation. I believe 2 weeks has been ample timefor some form of a reply.

I always love coming here. Most beautiful and comfortable theater ever. That being said...please do a thorough cleaning under the back row seats. We went to see birds of prey and my granddaughter dropped her binky. I bent over with my phone flashlight and my g ou d it us filthy under there. Please clean before you get rats and roaches.
