Poor service from Amanda. Only ever saw her independently when taking the order, bringing out food, and bringing the check. Guacmole live avocados were so hard she could barely get the skin off. My childs tenders and fries came out cold and hard. My steak fajitas were warm. The pan was hot, most likely the only reason the food was warm. Seemed as though it was sitting for a while. Portions seemed smaller than I remember. Other tables served before us when we were there first. The other blonde server with a braid seemed like a very hard worker, diligent in tending to her customers. Wish we had her for service. Wont be coming back.

Really enjoyed our dinner here. The waitress Katie did an amazing job. She was very attentive to our needs. The manager was also great. I had just put on my glasses to look for the restroom and she said sir the rest room is right past the the big painting on the wall. The food was hot, correct the first time and drinks were really good. First time here in a while but will definitely frequent here for dinner.

This place used to be good. The food tastes so inauthentic now. I mean I knew it wasnt grade A Mexican food but it was a great place to get food. The costs are SOOOO HIGHH now and the food is bland. One person in my party got fajitas which were 25 bucks and they forgot everything that went with it. This used to be a place to go to but I will go elsewhere. Save your money!!

The food was good. The wait for our food was terrible and our waitress never returned until after it was time to pay . We were literally one out of 5 tables inside and it took over an hour. We watched several people get seated and the waitress didnt even come out and they left. She smelled like a dirty dishrag also. Idk who they hire but dang can they take a bath! We will not return. The hostess was very friendly but she couldnt find our waitress either!

Service was okay. Paid $12 for a margarita that was 90% ice. $14 for some enchiladas that were dry with very little meat in them. The southwest chicken tacos my husband got the chicken was ice cold. No flavor to the food what do ever. Definitely will not eat here again.

I wasnt majorly impressed with the Chimijanga plate I ordered. On the menu, it was described as a crispy chimijanga. The one I received looked more like it was baked or lightly fried. It was just okay. The rice and beans were under seasoned, and the complimentary chips and salsa were boring and tasted flat. My server Durron was very polite, professional, and attentive. Not once did I have to look around for him. He always timed it perfectly. My other concern was how close the hostess upfront kept seating people back to back to one another. I noticed a lot of guest were openly coughing and not covering their mouths. This behavior was disrespectful and appalling. But its nothing that can be controlled. It made me think twice about whether I wanted to revisit this restaurant again. Management should be aware of how to space guests apart during a reimergence of Covid variants. Parking: Theres 4 handicapped parking spots.

Oof. I haven t had on the border in a long time and back in the day it was great but I won t be coming here again. We were seated immediately but after we were seated it took a while for a waitress to come and take our drink order and then food also took a while. They weren t busy either. Once the food came you could just tell it had been sitting under the lamp for a hot minute, everything tasted and looked like it was microwaved, I was hungry so I stomached it, almost got to the end of my meal and there was a hair in it. Stopped eating and immediately asked for check. I m not confrontational but wish I would have said something. Came home and ended up getting some sort of food poisoning. Avoid.

Went to eat with my boyfriend on Sunday for lunch. Took forever for waiter to attend us. Once we ordered we didnt get our food till 40 minutes later. Food was cold. Restaurant was not even busy. First time eating here. I had chicken tortilla soup, a flauta, boracho beans and Mexican rice. The soup was salty the tortilla straps on top of the soup (that were not wet yet by the soup) werent fresh.....did not have a crunch to them. The rice was hard. The flauta was ok. The boracho beans were good. I also had a mangonada margarita, which did not taste anything like mango, but more like chamoy. Yes I know its a mangonada, which has chamoy, but it was not good. The customer service was not there. When I got my margarita it was dripping everywhere. The waiter stated that they had a new bartender and he had to redo the drink because he is new. Bummer. I was hoping to have a good lunch at a new place.

Terrible service. Wanted appetizers, took forever so I just ordered my food. Got a drink and wanted another , but was never asked again if I wanted another. Our table was neglected , they only checked on the party next to us. Never got my water I asked for either. Then the food was like microwave food. Then it came out cold. Edit..By not being able to service the dining room as well as to go orders, there were at least 4 of that left..that was around 75 to 100 dollars your restaurant missed out on. Seems there could have been more because the diningroom had plenty of empty tables and booths..sorry.... did not get to eat there becsuse we were told that the cooks were 45min behind because they were cooking for doordash and curbside pickup. My husband & I came in around 6:30, the lady told us 40-45 minutes, they only had 2 servers. Completely understand, I used to work in a restaurant, I know how it is. 45 minutes later, we walk back in to check on the table since we hadn t heard anything. While standing waiting for the hostess to come up, I notice our name is scratched out on the paper & about 5-6 names under ours, already seated. The hostess said she tried to call us but got a weird message. I find that highly unlikely as we were sitting in the parking lot the entire time, phone in hand just waiting. Not really happy with it. She ignored us after telling us about the weird message to check other people in so we just walked out.

Im giving this place a two-star review because really I think its pretty pricey for Mexican food. And, because they got my order wrong and I was the only one there eating. I have the lunch fajitas and a soda. The fajitas I ordered were the chicken fajitas and I was brought out steak fajitas. I didnt say anything because I do like steak and I dont like to send my food back. But the price for that small lunch meal was over $20 not including tip. My thoughts are if Im the only one eating and my order is wrong when you only had to remember one order thats a problem, and of course the high price for a lunch menu. Never been to this place before I was in Waco for some business and thought Id stop because I wanted some Mexican food.

The service was fine, the waiter was actually good. The food was horrible. My daughter ordered the shrimp fajitas and what she got smelled like rancid bad fish. The manager on duty for some strange reason felt the need to tell us that they noticed a difference in the seasoning for the shrimp and that not everyone liked the change. Dude seriously was trying to tell me that the bad fish smell was the new seasoning mix for the shrimp. The rest of the food was okay. it was nowhere near as bad as the shrimp but it was also not so good that it would entice me to ever return. My waiter was actually so good that I gave him a tip even as bad as the rest of it was and the 4 stars for service is reflective of how outstanding he was and what a clueless dolt the manager was. But it doesnt matter how good any of the service OR food is. If you are letting shrimp that smell like bad fish get out to the table the end result is that I will never step foot in the place again.

Tonite I had a full backseat. She offered to walk around and place in my passenger front seat. This is service we used to see more often. Now it s unheard of. Great customer service. We sat down ordered our drinks and ordered our food and everything was fine and dandy. We got our drinks and appetizers and the drinks were fine, they re were good but we slammed some flights and didn t feel a thing so the alcoholic drinks weren t strong at all, it just tasted like cocktail mix. The appetizers weren t terrible but we weren t that much of a fan. Then our food came out. My husbands food wasn t that bad so he enjoyed most of it and it was hot. Mine on the other hand was not. What I ordered ,no matter where I order it from, I usually enjoy and have no complaints. That was not the case here. The food came out kind of bland and COMPLETELY cold. We told the waitress and sent it back to be fixed. A few minutes went by and she brought back what looked like a completely new plate of food, and it was STILL completely cold just like the first one. When she asked if it was any better we didn t feel like waiting any longer so we just yeah it was fine.

I havent been to On The Border in over 25 years. It was as good as I remember it being way back then. They have the best salsa and the fajitas were pretty dang good too!!

The food is flavorful. I recommend the steak ($1.50 more) chimichanga and chicken flautas for an affordable delicious meal. The staff is very friendly and the service is good. Theres been a few times coming where there were some order mixups but the management was very kind to accommodate for us. Plan on being back multiple times.

Kind of what you expect from a chain. The staff is friendly, and the food has been consistent across visits. Portion sizes are fair. Unfortunately, the prices are getting to be too high. Two for dinner with no drinks or appetizers was $37! Try not to fill up on the free chips and salsa they bring before you order - you may end up too full to enjoy dinner. Vegetarian options: The black beans are vegetarian, and so is the cilantro rice, but the refried beans and Mexican rice are not vegetarian.

They ve made changes - no longer serve Coke products (Pepsi stuff now), no charro beans option, chips were stale (2nd bowl brought was better - warm & crispy), then server reported your food will be out in about 20 minutes !!

Went inside and checked in, was sat on the patio and given menus. We then waited for 25 minutes outside, nobody came out. So we went inside to the bar to see if we could get someone. We waited 10 minutes and the bartenders and managers would just walk past us. We ended up leaving.

Wow! What a nice unexpected surprise! Wasnt even in mood for Tex-Mex but stop was convenient to errand running. I had lunch choose 2 special. I got chicken enchilada and beef tabo, both very good and sour cream sauce a notch above my other fave Mexican restaurant. The surprise was the Mexican rice which I normally find tasteless and my least favorite forms of rice. This one, good flavor w/some corn and onion mixed in. Refried beans good too. Beef in taco proper seasoning. Sour-creamsauced enchilada perfect! Boy! Only complaint...now I am so stuffed I am miserable! :-). Staff exceptionally friendly, professional and interactive. Highly recommend. Parking: Plenty parking. No problem w/ big 3-ton p.u.

We had the best experience! The staff was friendly and courteous when we walked in. Trey, our waiter, was very polite and had great manners and customer service. I appreciate the maams! The food was delicious and watermelon margaritas are a hit! Two people ate and drank alcohol for less than $50. It was money well spent.

When will my next package be in share come problem with this phone. Everything is OK with my order except for the Avenue. Come on pace and oh those come in the wrong car in two short. Came in for my daughters birthday with the family. Not only did we wait 15 minutes standing there until someone acknowledged US and said please wait a few minutes until been sitted but no one acknowledged us when we got there we were standing there I had to speak to one of the waitresses for them to knowledge us which was very unpleasant. After the waitress told us it will be a few more minutes for the simple fact that it was a family of 10 I told her thats fine. Another family came in with 8 total. We waited 23 minutes until been sitted which i understood they where short staff but the lack of acknowledgement and no courtesy that it will be a few minutes made me and my family want to leave. But since it was my daughters birthday we waited. After sitting down ordering our drinks the waitress said it will be a few more minutes until she came back. Another 17 minutes went by and she took our food order. She had no acknowledgment of us being there did not refill our drinks the entire time we where there or even ask did we need anything. It was my daughters birthday so I stay calmed for her. The food finally came after been there an hour. No manager in sight just 3 waitresses and the bartender. The other family left.. but what i dont understand is that there where only 2 other families there eating besides us so why the lack of service? We spent over $200 in food even order 3 burrito dinners to go but i will deffinatly not be coming back. Very disappointed with the service here but the fajitas for 2 and burrito dinner was good the other taco dinner and chimichanga dinner plates where cold not sure why either .. very disappointed
