Fabtastic people, lots of fanfare! Memories and history. The director changes out the museum about every 4 months, so she keeps up with the latest. Not just a one size fits all museum. If pageants are your passion, there is no shortage of glitz and glamour here. If you are the type of person looking to make donations to interesting places, this would be one of those museums that can use as much help as possible. Great place to spend the day if you are in Tyler, Texas

Creepy yet kinda fascinating. The paintings were awesome, so were the dress sketches. The garden has a lot to be desired. However, we enjoyed the old roses. Our favorite part was the pond and all its shade.

Theres a video in the first room. Mostly how men brought roses and football to Tyler. Museum has costumes. Theyre basically vanity projects for the wealthy. The trains are really spectacular! Ive always wondered and wanted to know how they keep roses looking good on floats. I still do. Docent took a liking to us. She was telling us about tickets, October, the rose tea, etc. Gave us t-shirts and a book. She said we should book a room, now. I was disappointed with the rose garden. I said I was a Ft. Worth native. Docent went silent for a minute. It just doesnt compare to Ft. Worths botanical garden. I thought with the claim to fame, it would be bigger. Its tiny! Two city blocks. It was worth an hour.

The Texas Rose Festival, active since 1933, is organized by the rose growers, and celebrates the role of the rose-growing industry in the local economy. Many of the festivals events center on the Rose Queen and her court, who wear lavish gowns and costumes that are often in keeping with the theme of the years festival. Events include Queen coronation, gendered luncheons, formal balls, vespers, parade, Queens Tea... I attended the Queens Tea, where the royal court enters in procession, and remains in full display for visitations at the Rose Garden. This is a high society event, everyone was formally dressed, I was clearly out of place in my hiking attire. The whole pageant is an internal affair between wealthy white rose growers. The queen is chosen by the President of the Texas Rose Festival Association from one of the grower families, often with the queen having played various roles in the court since childhood. The court includes Duchess of the Rose Growers (members of rose-growing families), Out-of-town Duchesses and Escorts (non-growers invited because of family relationships), Ladies in Waiting (from families involved in in festival), and Train bearers and queen attendants (children of rose festival families). The whole event seemed very exclusive and privileged. All members of the court were wealthy white rose growers, and the families simply recycle the titles between them. The Rose Museum preserves the history of Tyler s Rose Growing Industry and the Texas Rose Festival, with photos, memorabilia and gowns of past Rose Queens, courts, and festival officials. I couldnt find any person of color in all the festivals years, and hardly any even in the attendees of the Queens Tea today. Although the town is diverse, as evident by the festivals workers and security. This lack of diversity is noticeable, I felt transported in time to the segregated Old South. In addition to the wealth display of the rose growers, the festival included an arts and crafts show, with various rose-related art made in different media. A giant Texas Rose Festival Rose Display was front and center for picture taking. I left perplexed at this elite festival, where clearly little to no effort is made to foster diversity or include the whole community.

Must visit places if you are visiting Tyler. I would have not known about the history of the rose garden if I didnt go here. Well maintained with historical videos and all the queens who won the rose competition. This year (2022) the parade is scheduled in September 2022. Dont miss it.

It smelled like roses when we walked in. :) Really enjoyed learning the history of this industry in Smith county. I didnt know 1/3 of the roses in the US are grown here in the county. Also, the rose bowl, the rose growing process, and viewing all the gowns of the rose queens. We went in July, so the garden was a little sad and very hot, but still beautiful. My husband humored me, he didnt enjoy it as much.

This flower museum is beautiful! I visited with some family last year during their off season, but even with most of the roses not in full bloom it was a wonderful place. There is a huge diversity of flowers in all colors, shapes, and sizes! Very peaceful atmosphere, and the gardens were much larger than expected so we were able to explore for hours.

The collection is well maintained. The short ambulatory exercise is geared towards parade affection and but a little short on tips and techniques for the avid gardener. Since the park is purely an exhibit, the least the Museum couldve done (for those out-of-town visitors) is to excite them towards rose gardening.

I went here to the center hall for the B2B Luncheon-- and the facilities, catering staff, and Audio/visual crews were all excellent! We got to hear a Dallas Cowboy player give us a little of his testimony. Richard Hall with East Texas Productions was great at keeping the audio clean and audible without feedback, and the caterers were very friendly and accommodating complete with high quality table settings. Id definitely recommend this location for large hall events and the staff I saw today for any further A/V or catering needs!

This is a beautiful garden that you are not going to want to pass up. When the roses are in bloom it is just gorgeous and a great place to take pictures. It is a peaceful garden if you are looking for a quiet place to get away and read or just think. The garden is free, but you do have to pay for the museum. It is a very small museum and not really one for small kids as there isnt much to do, but a lot to see. The dress on display are so elegant and beautiful. There are little videos and displays everywhere and lots of pictures.

If you love roses, you have to make time to stop by the Tyler Rose Garden and Museum. The 16 acre rose garden is absolutely gorgeous, and it is wonderful simply to take a quiet stroll around and through the rows and rows of blooming bushes. Check with their website for dates of the big rose festival in the fall. My trip was made in April when the weather was just beginning to warm, and the blooms were unbelievable. The gift shop is quaint, with an unbelievable array of rose items, from mugs and towels, to aprons, soaps and bath items all with rose themes. Whether you just find yourself in the Tyler area with an hour or so of free time, or you plan a specific trip to Tyler to see the garden, museum and gift shop, you wont be disappointed.
