Food was extremely sub par. Wait time for food was over an hour. Food was bland not to mention considerably over priced. Save your money and your time and go to taco bell where you have more of a selection.

Absolutely the best place to either just eat out with your family or host an event. Cocktails were on point and made to look very classy which I love. I highly recommend the spicy watermelon margarita Not only is the service and food great, they have great photo oops and you know us girls love a good photo!!! Highly recommended and very affordable, I know that s of importance in this economy.

The food was good. Atmosphere quaint , but extremely noisy. Our waitress was nice and efficient. However, we ordered an item on the menu that was listed at $18.00 but when we got the ticket it was listed as $20.00. When we ask the waitress about the discrepancy, she stated that they had raised the prices but had not adjusted the menu to reflect the price. We also had a Montez gift card (for transparency, we don t remember how long we had had the gift card) When we tried to use it to apply to our ticket, they stated that the card was not valid and had expired, even though it did not state a expiration date on the card. This menu issue is rather deceptive at worse and lazy at best. They are showing outdated pricing online as well as their physical menu on site. It was disappointing that they had these two failures of customer service. With all the other restaurants in Tyler, we will patronize somewhere other than this establishment.

This long established restaurant is a staple of Tyler, Texas. Reservations are recommended. Although the exterior is a bit worn, it remains a beautiful setting with indoor and outdoor seating. The staff seemed a little stretched. This led to a little slower service, but the server was very friendly. We had Hors doeuvres and main course. The food flavors were quite good. I recommend this restaurant, especially for a couple on an evening out! Parking: There appears to be enough.

If your looking for good delicious food this is not the spot. 2nd time in 2 weeks and we still didnt enjoy it. Food was bland and just not what we were expecting... portions are small for the price. Yes its a nice building for a restaurant but the service is slow they take forever to bring u anything and drinks are $11 and are literally small 3 oz drinks. Not worth the drive to that side of town.

This may be lengthy, but it needs to be known. We went to Villa Montez for their Mothers Day Brunch buffet on May 12, 2024. First, the parking, access to and inside the restaurant is NOT handicap friendly (lots of stairs). And the staff acted irritated that we were dealing with a walker. And watch out for all the low hanging branches when you come in. Second, the food was meh. Nothing special and almost everything was cold. I know they can make some outstanding food....Ive had it before. This was terrible in comparison. Beside the fact that this place is not set up for a buffet and to have so many people moving around. Third, they took it upon themselves to add 20% tip for a large party...we only had FIVE people AND it was a BUFFET!!!!! So the buffet was $32 each and they added another $32 tip. My friend didnt know they added the $32, so she tipped a generous $20 on top of all that. The service was minimal. My water never got refilled until we were about to leave. And again, it was a BUFFET, we served ourselves. So a $20 tip was plenty for just clearing our table when we left. I am furious, I feel ripped off, I was embarrassed that I brought my family for so-so food and I promise, I WONT BE BACK. PITIFUL!

I cant remember what everything was called that we ordered, but everything was delicious! We came here for a work function to have dinner together and nobody had any complaints. For appetizers, we all shared egg rolls, queso, and spinach artichoke dip. For my main course, I had a steak and shrimp (see photo). I asked for medium rare, and I got medium rare. The food was fresh, hot, and absolutely delicious! I will have to return with my family for our next special occasion! For those who dont know, there are a lot of stairs inside and outside the restaurant! I also wish there could be a little more space for parking - it was hard to find a spot since it was so busy! The only other thing is I wish the waiter would have come a little more often. We ran out of chips and drinks and had to wait a while for refills. Everything else was excellent!

This was our first time here and probably our last. We had an 8:45 reservation we got there at 8:30 and were seated just before our reservation time. It was busy it was valentines that was expected. What was not expected was being seated in what looked like an old abandon room upstairs, the paint was peeling off as well as pieces of drywall it didn t look sanitary whatsoever but honestly the biggest issue was that it looks like a beautiful restaurant from the outside and I ve seen beautiful pictures so that s why we came unfortunately we weren t seated anywhere pleasant. We ordered pretty much as soon as we were seated an hour later or so our food had still not come out, so we told the server to just pack it up we would not be eating there. The server did apologize, and I know it wasn t his fault but the establishment should be prepared to handle business on busy days its business 101. I didn t ask for a discount nor was I offered one. My wife and daughter had the tequila lime pasta, they said it was decent. I had Latino rolls that were good. Disappointed nonetheless Parking: Parking situation is horrendous.

I would love to leave a glowing review of what Ive heard is delicious food, but I didnt get to eat anything. We arrived at 5:05 for our 5:15 reservation, were escorted to a table upstairs, sat there until 5:30 and never saw a single person besides a hostess who came in and moved some tables around. When we walked out, there were people downstairs who already had their food and were eating. Staff was not apologetic and didnt seem to care at all that two unsatisfied patrons walked out without being served. So disappointing.

Everyone loved their food. The staff was accommodating and helpful. I was there for a business dinner. So while still staying on top of our drinks and other needs, the staff stayed as scarce as possible per our request. We had a small room near the bar to ourselves. I had the Santo Mezcal which I highly recommend . And my dinner mates enjoyed their wine and coconut margaritas also. I had the Chicken Mole Enchiladas and they were sooooo flavorful with spices. Some others had the Chicken Durango and the Salmon. They thought it was fantastic and would suggest those to anyone. We skipped dessert bc it was already closing time but truth be told its because we filled up on the Chino Latino Rolls and spinach dip as appetizers. It is a little pricy but the ambiance is very nice and well suited for a romantic dinner, a business meeting or a girls night. Parking is a tad difficult as you can park up front and walk up the lush entrance hill. Or you can park in the lot behind the mansion and walk up the hill from the back...I think they want you to burn the calories youre about to eat. But this has been a staple fine dining establishment for decades (as far as i know), first as Mansion on the Hill and second as Villa Montez. You really need to splurge at least once and enjoy the architecture of this old home and the amazing meal you are certain to have. Wheelchair accessibility: I honestly didnt see any wheelchair access points but I wasnt looking. I will say the level of the floor changed often from room to room as well.

Cons: the food, some is incredible while same tastes like either microwaved, or marinated in motor oil ( not kidding, actually tastes that way) My fiance used to adore this place, the last time we ate here the soup had the taste of motor oil, we mentioned this to the manager and almost made us pay for it (though we ate 5% of it) ....arrogant, and very poor service. Stuck in an upstairs room with 10 loud women having a birthday party, 1836 mules were terrible, no lime juice and garnished with orange slices new bartender who seems to have no clue what he is doing. My wife and I made reservations on Valentines Day and its a good thing we did. Despite the crowds we were seated right away. Reservations are the only way to go. My wife had the Chilean Sea Bass and I had Seafood Enchiladas with chapotla cream sauce. They were both delicious. The portions size were more than enough. The only thing I could find fault is was the rice. The flavor was good but some of it was dried out and hard. It is a high end restaurant but the prices were reasonable...what I expected to pay. Well be returning. Recommend it for a romantic dinner.

The food was nothing to write home about. I think this is more of an atmosphere kin of place, high prices for the quality of food. You can just as good of food at Posadas or Jalapeño tree

Great fine Latin dining in Tyler! Had a little trouble reserving a table online, but we went early enough that we were able to get seated with no problems. The food and drinks were great and our waiter was attentive and helpful! Overall, it was a great dining experience!

This place is beautiful! We were seated right away by a very pleasant hostess. We ordered margaritas and the guacamole appetizer which all came out quick. When our entrees arrived we were told to be careful the plates are really hot since I have worked the restaurant industry for many years that is always a red flag, our plates had just been sitting under the warmer waiting to be ran, our server never came back to check on us, I really needed hot sauce since it was so bland. I could see our sever below talking to another sever so I gave it some time, still didn t come, so I went down to ask for tomatillo sauce the red kind (there is a green and red kind) the male server told me it s green and I said okay well can I just have a red hot sauce then sure no problem..I sit down and he then comes back to tell me again that the tomatillo sauce is green and not red still no hot sauce. He finally brings me some in a bowl. By this time my food is extremely cold and hard to even eat. Probably the worst dining experience I ve ever had. We still left a good tip but I think some training on your severs would help things.

First, this is a beautiful location in an old hacienda sitting on top of the hill. Our server was honestly one of the best Ive ever had. Super friendly, very courteous, and regularly checked in to make sure we had what we needed, without being overbearing. He was also super careful about my food allergy, confirming what was in each dish and even having the kitchen make substitutions on dishes that I didnt realize would need them. Dinner was delicious. All the usual choices for a Mexican restaurant, but all well made. But the highlight was the Chino Latino Rolls appetizer. Holy smokes these things were good. We split them between the four adults at our table, and I for sure violated that commandment about coveting, as I watched the last bites go down. If Id known how good they were I would just have had them as my entree.

Quality doesnt match the high prices, the rice was really dry and not only mine but all my 4 other friends , it seemed the left the rice on heat for too long and it dried out. Pretty expensive and small portions , a plate with a few shrimp and a small filet mignon with dry rice was $42 ..

I will never come here ever again. I am 16 and visited with 17 other 16 year olds. When calling to make a reservation, no one informed me of the party meal plan. We were all forced to order food that no one wanted, we all paid $36, and literally $6 gratuity was added. We did not order any dessert but they still added that to our bills. The manager refused to talk to my mom and the service was the worst I ve ever seen. Do not eat here.

Villa Montez is one of the top restaurants in all of East Texas. The view is amazing and the history of the building makes it even more interesting. There are several different dining areas throughout the restaurant making for a different experience every time you visit. This includes a beautiful, large patio, bar area and the cellar. The staff is very friendly and extremely accommodating. Love the Latin-inspired menu plus some really good burgers. The steaks are cooked perfectly. The cocktails are very good. The bartender makes a very good old fashioned. The desserts are very tasty. Cant wait to spend time on the patio and try some of the other menu options.

Food is pretty good, but its also reasonably priced. The venue/atmosphere is really reason we go cause the service is pretty bad, or maybe really bad! Also, that one table y all have inside, up against a wall is right underneath a big screen tv!!! Y all playing a soccer game last time, sat us there. Nobody in room watching it, and felt like i might have a seizure being about 9 from the screen! Geez, lol

First time here..off the beaten path. Arrived around 5:10 on a Saturday. Parking was easy and up front. Seated immediately, Service was amazing, Thank you Phillipe!! Carne Asada had amazing char grilled flavor, very tender. Buttery! Seafood enchies had ample fish and shrimp. Not over cooked..just right. Whatever that sauce is they put on it, they need to jar it and sell it! Only thing I would suggest to them would be to add some pico de Gallo to the entries. Pico adds freshness! Overall I give a 5 to this restaurant!
