Wonderful! While traveling to Austin Texas from Colorado we stopped at PJ s. What a great place! They are located to the far right if you are facing the VFW building, just through the double glass doors. The dining room is big and immaculate! There are pool tables and a nice touch screen jukebox with a wide variety of music. The restrooms were super clean too with plenty of stalls. You order at the counter and then take your seat. Drinks and food are delivered to the table once ready. PJ and his wife were super helpful with menu questions. There were 4 of us, we had the fried fish, smoked ribs, collards & cabbage, mac & cheese, broccoli rice, cornbread & sweet tea. EVERYTHING was delicious! Between the atmosphere the food and the ultra sweet owners this place is a MUST!!!!

Just stopped by new location in the VFW! Green beans & greens were so flavorful & the chicken was amazing. Im so happy that you were able to open up again yall are awesome Mac & cheese was outstanding, the smoked chicken was absolutely delicious, it was moist and tender. This is my First time eating at PJs and I got 3 little party wings for a combo due to him stating they were out of the whole chicken wings. I am very disappointed and not happy because you could have adjusted price or gave more wings or something. The Mac and cheese was not good at all! I did love the greens and cabbage!

I really love this place and it was my second time here but today since they were out of the regular whole chicken wings they only gave you 3 party wings. When usually u get the whole wing. I think they could have compensated a little better instead of the 3 little ones. I did ask for the wings to be fried hard and they were not. I would have stayed longer to let them know but I was on my lunch break from work. Sadly disappointed

The kitchen is kept very clean every time I come in! The cabbage and greens mix is good, the catfish was ok, the peach cobbler was cold but it had good flavor. The tea is UNMATCHED the staff is always respectful, helpful and easy to converse with.

Took a few minutes to find them. There are not downtown Temple Tx. They are now located at the VFW on Adams though well worth it. We both did the two meat and two sides. My wife had Wings and Pork Chop with Mac -cheese and greens I had Fish and Pork Chop with Green Beans and Greens. Enjoy and will be back.....

Im going to start by saying I know the owners personally, but I will not be biased in my review. The food is delicious! I love fried fish and Paulas fried fish is the bomb! My sister, the girls, and I came down to the restaurant for the first time. The portions are huge for the price you pay...definitely worth it. We didnt have one complaint and the tea is better than Bushs Chickens tea (and I love some Bushs tea...lol)...so thats saying something. The tea is her own special recipe packaged in cute lil bottles with her grandbaby on the front which is the inspiration for the name of the tea (she calls her grandbaby Suga).

I usually enjoy eating at this restaurant. Im sad to say this last time I ate there, it was disgustingly SALTY! I ordered the 1 meat plate (Meatloaf)w/2 sides, I added another side and an extra piece of meatloaf. I believe the lady that took my order has a serious attitude! Im guessing because she had to walk to the back two extra times. At any rate I was so excited and ready to eat! Only to be seriously let down! It tasted like she went back there and dumped a pound of salt on my green beans and meatloaf! Anyone who knows me, knows that I absolutely love soul food! This certain employee destroyed my whole experience! If I had a dog I wouldnt have given the food to him either! Which was really upsetting. Especially knowing that I eat here often and its always delicious. I give this recent eating experience a big fat 0!!!

PJ s Table Top Southern Cuisine makes incredibly delicious food! Their fried pork chop and smoked chicken are on the bone, seasoned perfectly, and extremely tender. Those are the best I have ever had, and I ve eaten at great southern restaurants all over the states. The sides are tasty and the corn bread not too sweet. Their homemade sweet tea is mixed with fruit juices and so yummy. The service was wonderful and the owners are very friendly. I highly recommend this restaurant! I will be back and brining friends!

Ive been meaning to try this place for a while, and after going in with my wife, we were pleasantly surprised at how good the quality of their food was. The menu is straightforward and has you pick the entree and sides, with different plans (1 meat / 2 sides, 1 meat / 3 sides, 2 meats, and so on). Signature dishes of soul food like collard greens, smoked ribs, fried chicken, fried fish, pork chops, and others are available. I tried the smoked ribs and they were to die for; so tender they were falling off the bones, juicy with a nice crust on the outside, and a smokey flavor that didnt taste overwhelming and complemented the rest. Their greens are great, homemade style and well seasoned. The portions are all quite generous too, we got the smallest ones and we still had leftovers. Great price per portion ratio. The inside is warm and comfy, all chairs are cushioned and you can sit back and relax while you enjoy your food; this said, the decorations inside could be a bit better. Service was great and the owners were friendly. For beverages, their sweet tea is brewed by them too, and isnt just some over sugary Lipton, but a nice sweet tea with tones of lemon and honey, its more balanced than sweet tea youll find around, I didnt get tired of drinking it. Goes perfectly with the food. Overall this is a great soul food place to go if youre in Temple. Its a bit hidden, but dont let it go under your radar. Give em a chance and they wont disappoint.

This was absolutely amazing! Your tastebuds will be on 10 because everything and I do mean everything taste like it came from your grandma s kitchen. My favorite was the smoked chicken and the dressing. I will also say that the service was remarkable. They truly make you feel welcome, so please give PJ s tabletop a try. Not currently set up to be a dine in restaurant. Service was done on a styrofoam plate and a to go cup was given with ice for their sweet tea. Packaged plastic cutlery was provided with napkin inside. No refills allowed and the tea was premixed with lemon or lemon syrup. I was told that its bottled in the store and sold that way. As a person that does not like lemon in their sweet tea, it was not to my liking. Your mileage may vary. The meatloaf was okay, but missing some signature things like noticeable pieces of bell pepper or onion. Their recipe might not include those, which isnt out of the ordinary I suppose. Mac and cheese was decent. Appropriately greasy for soul food with a fair ratio of cheese to pasta. No breading or cornbread crumbles though, just pasta and cheese. Cornbread stuffing was pretty darn good actually. Not terribly different from boxed or bag stuffing, but I like that. So it was good to me. The dinner roll was not at all good. It seemed like the kind of roll you get in a bag of rolls from the grocery store. Almost certainly not baked in house. The server was super kind and very helpful. Service personalities there are top notch. Food was even delivered by the cook which is always a nice touch. 3/5 for now. Gotta step up the recipe and ingredients game and get the dining room set up. If you are just ordering online from PJs, the price is not an indicator of quality or serving size at the moment.

This place is back open and the food is bussin! (Im too old to use that word) The food was great, the folks there were friendly as well. I went with my wife and daughter and I got to sample a bit of everything. I tried fried ribs for the first time and they were great, the dressing was moist and didnt even need cranberry sauce, the sweet potatoes were perfect, the Mac and cheese was done right (iykyk), and my wife wouldnt share the greens so Ill go back and try later. I will tell you that they are still doing a bit of work inside but that food and customer service shined brighter than their temporary improvement stuff. Gt the sweet tea too! Im full and sleepy!

Found this spot while on a mini trip for a softball tournament, Im so glad I found it. I had the fried fish plate with 2 sides (broccoli, rice and cheese casserole and sweet potatoes). It was perfection. The fish was cooked well done not mushy at all and the sides were to die for. Will definitely be coming to back and the prices were good. Also my sister in law had the turkey leg with crab mac and cheese and it was an abundance of food and smokiness through it all.
