We have been here for weekend brunch as well as a weekday lunch. The food is higher quality than in many similar places, and in particular the beans have amazing flavor. We recommend the enchiladas verdes in particular. Update: the food is still excellent, but they have two different music systems playing and it s very disconcerting. If this sort of thing bothers you, maybe order delivery.

The place itself has good vibes but I ordered the adobo chicken which has pineapple and they didn t tell me the pineapple they had was bad before ordering so my tacos came without pineapple but the server didn t tell me before ordering? Why would I order something that I paid for and not get it :)

We got the Triple F as an appetizer which are fries topped with sauces, cheese, and fajita meat. They were delicious, I would like to see a thicker cut fry on my fajitas fries usually but these were good. Several plates were tried and all of them were a hit, the chilaquiles, huevos rancheros, green enchiladas, and I got the shrimp taco plate. All of the food is consistently tasty and fresh. We ve been coming here for a while and I m always recommending it. The best part are the drinks! I have tried all of the drinks on their menu and they re all amazing, they are fruity and delicious. Today I had Las Chingonas in watermelon and then tamarind. Very tasty drinks, I m not a big fan of drinking alcohol at restaurants because they re always hit or miss on either flavor, taste, or value. La Carretera has some of the best tasting drinks I ve ever had! The big plus is the delicious food. I m very grateful we have a quality establishment just down the road from us! I can t wait to come back!

Had horrible lunch there today. Chicken nachos with burned, dried chicken, Trompo taco with 90% burned black fat and maybe a piece of pork, plus 3 shrimp enchiladas to go for dinner. The shrimp were burned black, so tough they were hard to chew. In other words, whoever was cooking there only knew how to burn everything. Ill never go back there. And, surprise, they dont answer the phone. Perhaps they dont like to hear complaints.

went here after seeing it on ticktock and it was a disappointment the waitress was on her phone the whole time she not once asked us if we needed anything not tended us at all she literally brought our food to us and never came back we needed stuff we had to go and ask her she would put her phone down get whatever it was and handed to us not brought it to us then right back to the phone the food was bland I had to use salt and pepper on everything and honestly I never use salt I dont like using it but here I had to the prices are ok but at the end that was our first and last time going there they need to do better and yes I still left a tip

Had just a really great experience here from food, to vibe, to service. Salsa, margaritas, and every entree my family ordered were all delicious. Dad ordered fish tacos, husband birria tacos, mom ordered brisket quesadilla, and I ordered the chicken crema. No notes, great experience. And everyone smiled at our baby which is always a plus :)

This place looks so much better in the pics. The service was bad, and we were the only ones there on a Monday evening around 7pm. Took them forever to make the food, and once we got it, it was terrible. The kids both ordered burgers, which were so bad they didn t eat them. My tacos birria tasted and reeked like old deep-fried oil. They charge extra for pico and sour cream which is in the pic. Tiny portions of both, and the pico was just basically old tomatoes. So disappointing. Nothing seemed fresh. We also got stale chips and a weird oily green salsa that didn t taste fresh. No red salsa. My son ordered a strawberry lemonade that tasted and looked like Hawaiian Punch. Will never be back. Way too pricey for cheap nasty food.

My family and I came to this restaurant to celebrate my husband s birthday. I was very disappointed. I love enchiladas, but these were not good. They were just a tortilla with chicken inside and you could barely see the chile verde. It also came with some rice and beans. The rice was okay, but the beans tasted like they came out straight from a can. Nothing added; no salt and not refried. We will not be coming here again.

Updating last Review- Visited the restaurant today it was a slow Monday 3 tables seated with one enjoying drinks, other eating their food and us. We ordered a side of charro beans. We received cold bland beans. My husband ignored it and moved past it because this is our favorite restaurant. We received our food, the refried beans changed and were refried ranch style beans, the rice was hard, and our enchiladas were good but like the rest of the food just barely warm. I asked the waitress if I could have the rice changed to the red rice. She said no because they ran out and the rice we received was what was scraped out of the bottom of the pot. There was no more. We unfortunately hate confrontation and opted for a side salad. I guess I wasn t upset enough and wish we had just left after tasting the food. The kitchen knew that they were serving cold food and hard rice but did so knowing it was not ok. If we had known we could have ordered something else. How does a Tex-mex restaurant run out of rice? Serve cold food? Ranch style refried beans? We come here at least 3 times a month and were just disappointed. Last time we were here the food was just ok too. Hopefully cooks get retrained, it was also pretty rude to keep staring at us after we didn t make a big deal of anything. Have been here multiple times since they have opened. Their restaurant is really clean, good mixed drinks, bomb white & red rice. I ve tried over 8 different items all have been easily 5stars. Absolutely love this place, wish it got more business so it s never at risk of closing. Please visit, you won t be disappointed

My and my son have been eating in this restaurant several times and service and food were good until today . We order one water and one unsweetened ice tea, one burger, one torta, as appetizer one elote and the small tostadas, We waited 20 minutes to get our drinks, I assume that since we didn t order alcohol, the server decided to attend other guys that got there after us ,we waited patiently. When he decided to brink our drinks I asked about their famous free entry of black beans in a little jar and he said that they doesn t give it any more, now you have to pay it as a side appetizer. When the food came so disappointing on the torta that I ordered, it had more beans and lettuce than anything, and the fries basket they came halfway empty besides that they were chewy cold. The tostadas were full of fried beans !! We always try to support small businesses and we are happy to do so but but with this food and service that is almost impossible!!!

I am very upset with the service that was provided today. The food was okay but the waiter decided to add his own tip to my total after I already swiped my card and signed. The tip added was almost 40% and was done in secret. I would be more than happy to provide a tip for service, but what kind of people do they employ that would think it is appropriate to just add tips without informing the customer. What if I didnt have the funds on my card and he cause me to overdraft. What if I was planning to leave cash. This is ridiculous I would NEVER go back to this restaurant.

I love the food here, my fiancé and I have gone several times. But the service we received over the weekend was terrible. We had to wait a bit too long for our drinks (due to them having a big party I understand that). Our appetizer only came when I reminded the serve when we had already received our food (we ordered our app with our drinks). I made a simple change on my plate which was no melted cheese. Server came with our food, my dish had melted cheese and the server told me that their internet was down and she couldn t put no cheese (at that point could have just told the kitchen that this dish is with no cheese, or gotten the ticket and wrote on it but okay .) music was still playing, the tv behind my fiancé didn t show anything about needing internet, she did offer to get it remade, but my fiancé had also gotten his food and I don t like to send my food back so I just ate it like that. when getting the receipt, my fiancé also made a change on his dish and on the receipt it said no avocado like what??? The internet just decided to stop working when trying to make changes on my plate? Then when we were ready to pay they had the hand held devices where you pay at the table, and first thing it ask is a tip, I hit skip (because I left a cash tip) after paying the sever seemed mad and just walked alway not saying anything else.

The tortilla soup was very delicious, although some pieces of tortilla felt a little old, the coffee was delicious, the eggs rancheros had fresh ingredients but something was missing. We were not greeted when we arrived. The hostess didn t ask how many, she just made a hand gesture for how many people in our party (4 total). The menus were put on the table so we sat down, still not single a word from anyone. Very nice and chic interior atmosphere. Colors blend well to the mood and environment of this restaurant. I have eaten here just about six times and every meal has been very good. The taco plates are very delicious and meat is not dry. The fish is also cooked very well and very tasteful. Enchiladas is what you would expect. Along with great taste plates come with different textures that help the dish standout, which is very nice to see. The staff is overall friendly, attentive and respectful. The food is good, only issue is when i get the sauce that comes with my take-out burrito.. (this wasnt the first time) the container is bloated and the salsa is carbinated. Thats not good because thats what happens with fermentation. How old was this salsa to where the container was at its limit and when i opened it, the sauce was bubbly. My sister and I literally fell in love with this place yesterday! We found it online as we dont live in the area, and wanted a unique restaurant close to an event we were attending later in the day. This is definitely unique in the best way--modern decor with a beautiful Day of the Dead mural on the wall, bar underlit with neon pink, and just lots of cool features. We both ordered quesadillas thinking this would be a light meal...and neither of us could finish them. They were absolutely some of the best quesadillas we had ever had. She had the spinach and cheese; I opted for the chicken. The quac is amazing, the pico de gallo is fresh, the food was beautifully plated, and the service was top notch. THIS PLACE IS A TREASURE, especially with the very reasonable menu prices. Truly, we are looking for excuses to go back to Sunnyvale so we can visit the restaurant again. So sad I live too far away to be a regular at this one.

This is great place to have dinner. We enjoy the drinks (margaritas and ranch water) were made perfectly and we are picky about drinks. The food was the best I had in a while. I had the enchiladas en salsa verde and the rice I m supper special about my rice this rice had flavor and was cooked to perfection. Hubby had the parrillada and everything was delicious on his plate. The fajita reminded me of my childhood family gatherings. And the service was very pleasant our server was América. She was attentive, friendly and very knowledgeable about the food. She recommended the beans as appetizer and let me tell you she didn t disappoint. This has been one of the best dinners we had in a while. We recommend this place !!!

We went to this restaurant as a group of 5. Appetizers were good and the food was ok. A person in our party ordered the fajitas, however, the meat was rotten. He asked me to taste a piece and yes, it indeed had a rotten smell to it and the taste was horrible! How could they cook this, much less serve it!!! The rest of the food was ok but I don t think I will be returning. The only reason I didn t give it only one star is for the fact that the other plates were ok, not great, just ok.

A great find, we had pulled up there a couple times before but thought it was just a Taqueria. My sister Gloria had highly recommended the place. From the minute we walked in, till the time we left we loved every minute of it. Now its not like five stars superb, but it deserves a five star rating. The menu offers plenty of unique and mouth watering dishes. I wanted to try the redfish but I went for the plate that offers a variety of different Meats. My wife got the enchiladas which looked awesome. The salsa and tortilla chips were great but they are not free which is something that was definitely a negative aspect. Who charges for those? Some of the things that really stood out to me was some of the seafood plates, shrimp brochettes, amazing drink menu. Check them out on Facebook and you will see that they have taco tuesday, enchilada Wednesday, they serve lunch specials and have weekend brunch. Im from this area and theres really not another place like this that I know of. If youre just looking for a place to drink I also recommend it to have a cozy little bar. They also have happy hour with sounds good about now.

If I could give zero stars I would. We arrived for dinner after graduation and were seated. It was almost 9pm and not very busy. They brought our drinks and took our order. After an hour (at 12 minutes before closing time) I asked if our food would be out soon. They rudely said they were busy and we should have made a reservation. They clearly had not even put our order in. We paid for our drinks and left. No fountain drinks...only cans at a ridiculous price. We left at 10 pm with no food. It was so disappointing but the most disappointing part was their response to our polite request to get our food after we waited an hour. It was obvious they just forgot about us because other people got their food who arrive after us. We were a party of 7. They could have just apologized and put the order in but instead they tried to blame it on us. We will never return!

We came here once or twice last summer and I will say we enjoyed it minus the price. However we went back recently as I remember liking to food (I m all for paying for good food) and I was very disappointed. When we came in there wasn t really anyone there and we were seated - we then waited about 15 minutes before anyone came to our table. We went ahead and ordered our food and drinks when the person finally did come. They never came back until we got our food. The food came out cold and I didn t have a plate to assemble my fajitas or silverware- I ended up getting some by the host stand on my own after waiting for awhile. No one came by so we went ahead and ate food - cleaned up our table and just continued to wait for someone to come by with the check. About 30 minutes after finishing the food- I went up by where the to go area was to see if I could pay for the food. The server came up and I paid in that area. Went and got my stuff from the table when someone else finally came up and was trying to make sure I paid for my food before I left - which I get but I actually had to hunt someone down to pay for it and received zero service the entire time I was there. It was just me and one of my children and we paid what we would normally pay for our entire family to eat out for cold food and no service at all. I was highly disappointed. Hopefully if you try it you will have a better experience.

Referred by a friend and did not disappoint. I was running errands and called the fam to meet me here for lunch on a Saturday. They give you a little cup of beans after you re seated. Awesome mango margarita. We had the salmon and chicken thighs and everything tasted fresh and delicious with plenty to take home. Service was attentive and friendly. Restroom was very clean. First of all, the chips we ordered had a taste of rancid oil, not fresh at all. When I asked for decaf I was told they don t have decaf then the waitress proceeded to say that the coffee they have is very strong and she just wanted to give us the heads up as other customers did not like the coffee and returned it. Then on my ordered the presentation was not inviting as I ordered huevos rancheros and they piled up the red sauce on top of my eggs when I had already told the waitress no red sauce on top of the eggs and then they forgot the potatoes that came with the order and so few minutes later I got my potatoes and they were very few and burnt. I was not please with the cook. The waitress was very nice but never apologized about the inconvenience. My daughter in law asked for some potatoes on the side and they told her they could only give her French fries which didn t make sense as she ordered breakfast and they wouldn t budge to give her the potatoes in her order but then after she saw that the potatoes I was serve were burnt she was better off not getting the potatoes. The inside of the restaurant is very beautiful and comfy. Would I recommend this place to someone I would think about it first. Please guys presentation is a big deal and apologizing as well will take you a long ways and the cook needs to step it up and not burn the food. Thank you !

My husband and I love this place. We ve ordered take-out more than a couple times from here before and their food never disappoints. The people that have taken my order over the phone are nice and don t make me feel like I m being rushed to order. We ve tried several of their tacos, they re all good, but our absolute favorite ones are the Chorizo Tacos without a doubt. My husband also loves their Chicken Nachos. The other day I had a Mojito and was so good super refreshing. I also want to give them extra points for presentation. They pay attention to detail. What really irritated me was they charge for tea refills (the glasses are small and filled with mostly ice initially), sodas come in cans, and water is sold by the bottle.
