My name is Tara Merchant. Encompass has been an essential part to my sister Julie s recovery. The staff is so attentive and are always making sure their patients are taken care of. The facility is very clean and has a great room setup. My sister was well taken care of while she was recovering from her knee replacement surgery. The facility is close to home that made it easy for me to visit after work . We couldn t be more grateful for Encompass and would recommend over and over again! Her doctor Dr Maccini was very caring and supportive guiding her through her recovery and motivating her. Her case Manager Vanessa has gone above and beyond assisting with home health services. Feel very blessed. A big shout out to all at Encompass

Very good place to choose for your rehabilitation. This is 2nd time my husband comes to this place for his rehab. He had a stroke 5 yrs ago and came here to get better and get back to almost normal life. Last month he fell and suffered. We came here and again PT and OT tried their very best to help him. They even went the extra mile to find a way to solve the problem. My husband was trying to test those demo to find out which one is best for his needs because it s a demo and it was way bigger than his normal shoe size and we came to the point of giving up. Mr. Efisa passed by and not hesitate to lend us his shoe to help out my husband in his PT session. (Mr.Efisa walked around with only 1 shoe) It really touched my heart. Encompass s has a very clean environment. Good experienced staff. Easy parking and close to grocery stores shopping for your needs. I am very pleased with the quality of their service

Update: so grateful to case manager Claudette Rochelle for her help with completing FMLA forms for my spouse. It s comforting to know Encompass Health Sugarland s value of caring continues even after you re discharged. Thank you so much Ms Rochelle. I appreciate you!! Well kept grounds and facility; friendly and respectful staff, professional nurses, not too high a nurse: pt ratio/ we didn t have to wait too long for assistance. My husband liked his physical therapists and they were firm but friendly with him. We had a lot if respect for their expertise. We found the food to be good and of the same quality I d serve at my own table. The doctors were accessible and approachable when available. leadership is right on site and focused on your satisfaction! The first day we met everyone on the team including a person in the leadership team. Megan followed up at discharge to gauge our satisfaction and take notes on concerns/complaints. I was surprised but pleased with this attention. Hopefully rehab will never be needed again but if it is, we d have no problem returning to this location although we live a good 35 minutes away. Of note, they are firm about following the daily activity schedule- no sleeping late unless it s the weekend! - they are serious about your rehabilitation.

I highly recommend this facility. I was treated with respect and great care. Their team went above and beyond to encourage and support a common goal to prepare me to continue to heal from home. The entire staff worked to help me when I was very sick. The best way to describe this place is that it was a Disney world experience for rehab. Clean facility and caring staff. I am still recovering at home, but I met some of my hero s in my time there and would highly recommend them to anyone.

My father-in-law completed 2 weeks of rehabilitation, after being on ECMO for Covid-Pneumonia. After many months of hospital stays and 2 hospitals, being here was a breath of fresh air. Every single employee from the front desk to the therapist truly cared and was always smiling and ready to help! By the end of the 14 days, multiple workers recognized my infant daughter who came to see James, and would have conversations with my FIL regarding his hobbies. My main concern, was my FIL getting to see my daughter since she was not allowed in ICU for 3 months. Encompass went above and beyond to address my concerns and requests. I cannot recommend them enough. If you have a loved one in need of care, send them to Encompass!

My mother is currently 89. Over the past several years, shes been in and out of Encompass for rehab from hospital visits. Shes always come out way stronger than when she went in. The staff is amazing. Of course the PT / OT staff is great! They put her through workouts all day and did wonders! Stephanie one of her OTs was like an adopted daughter. Were Filipino, and the kitchen staff was amazing with the food. When they found out that mom was FIlipino, they accommodated for a Filipino meal for her when possible to help her feel at home even for just a meal. Wes, the manager and his staff were great!!! From the reception desk, to the PCAs, all were awesome. If I were to be overly picky, the doctors and case management were good, but not as outstanding as the day-to-day hands on staff.

Hi, I was transferred from MD Anderson after undergoing a Urostomy operation . I earlier had a colostomy as I am suffering from cancer. When I arrived at Encompass, I was happy to see the large room size and the bed was comfortable. However , here is the bad part. Both the colostomy or urostomy did not stay for more that 6 hours. Now since I have had the colostomy for more than 2 years, I am reasonably competent with how to fix the bag- however the recent urostomy prevented me from doing so. You can imagine my discomfort when I had to call the nurses for either fixing a leaking urostomy or the colostomy. This issue persisted for more than 2 weeks that I was there. I came to the conclusion that the equipment at Encompass was old and past the expiry date - that is the reason the adhesive did not take effect. Secondly , I used to complain that my leg was paining a lot and when I happened to visit MD anderson for a follow up - they at once send me for an CT scan - where in it was disclosed that there was a blood clot . Encompass did not impress me

My husband had a stroke in January of this year and needed to go to a rehab, We were giving a list by the hospital for different skilled nursing facilities, I visited five in my area in SugarLand and three of them had beautiful facilities but seemed to be short of staff and PT, OT, ST, was going to be merely one hour at the most , our main interest was to have my husband who is 81 have a true rehab and not go to stay in a bed most of the day. Our daughters started seriously looking outside of the list giving to us , and found out about a place called ENCOMPASS, the reviews were very good so I decided to visit the premises. As soon as I went in it was the I really like this place Christopher at the front lobby with a big smile and so welcoming got me and appointment for a tour and I was in awe of the place. To make the story short, my husband was there for almost three weeks, the therapist s Rebeka and Tess with their happy and positive actitudes constantly and every single day , working with him a little more towards the goals ( my husband was walking with a walker but the stroke left him unable to use his right leg and arm ) and when he left those goals were met, I just can t emphasize enough the amazing job this therapist s and their team did for and with my husband . So thank you to the whole facility , from the kitchen chefs , with their great and good variety of meals, to the servers with such a nice disposition , the cleaning ladies. Wess the kitchen manager ,Amazing Nurses, always on top of the medicine schedules, and monitoring Marisol, Katrina, Mitzy and all of them. Servers, Lisa, Tina, Suzy, Cristina, Jonathan . I forget all the names of the people of the facility that helped us go trough this stay but all so nice and helpful . The only thing that I would recommend is if breakfasts could be a little later for the patients at least on the weekends. Gratefully yours Grace& Bill

If they try to discharge you before you are ready, ask for an appeal. They often try to kick patients out early to spend less on patient care and pocket what is not used. Example, your insurance company will pay them for a 20 day stay & they will try to kick you out after 10 days. Know your rights. If you feel you are being discharged too soon, ask for an appeal from your case manager.

I was a patient here after a traumatic fall. The OT and PT was exceptional, though the first day was a bit rough during the evaluation. The therapy teams work and encouragement gave me the strength and confidence to do more on my own. The nursing and support staff were generally terrible. I spoke with administration daily and it didnt seem to make much difference, as there were staff I asked not to have and they were switched out that day, but then back the next. I wasnt able to get up or down on my own, and was left for long periods of time in pain, needing to go to the bathroom, or needing food/water. If you are able to get in and out of bed on your own, and need the intensive therapy, its probably a good option as long as you go in knowing. If you cant, then it helps to have someone there with you as often as possible.

The staff at Encompass Health Rehab of Sugar Land was beyond anything I was expecting for a Rehab center. My mom was taken there after staying at a Longterm Health Care facility where she was basically learning how to walk again after a spine surgery. When we walked in there I was blown away by how nice and clean it was and how good it smelled, there was none of that hospital smell, but a clean smell. The nursing staff that was in charge of her came in and introduced themselves and explained everything that was expected of her while there. Then they took pictures of any and all wounds she had come in with. The second they found out about a bed sore they immediately, explaining the level and that it never fully goes away but it was healing. Then we saw Dr Mike and he was awesome! Made us feel more comfortable and relaxed about her being there. Mom fell in love with everyone there including the PT and OT staff however a few she liked way more then others. She was lucky and only needed to be there a week while getting a little bit stronger and finishing out her IV Antibotics. Susin, the head nurse went out of her way to insure that the nurses that mom really liked worked with her when they were on shift and when we asked if mom could walk out of the hospital with her walker she agreed and was there with tears of joy with the rest of my family. I will always recommend this Rehab to anyone who needs one! Thank you to all who were involved in my moms healing!

I knew after surgery I was going to need aid, re-training in doing things around the house, physical therapy to strengthen my lower muscles. I started my search with Skilled Nursing Facilities (SNF) and I was not impressed with the facilities in my area. I had given up all hope until I decided to expand my search out of the Houston area. Thats when I found Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital in Sugarland. From the moment I spoke with someone on the phone to setup a tour I was impressed with the friendliness of the staff. I toured the hospital and I loved the fact that each patient had their own room with a private toilet and shower area (this is not common in a SNF!). I immediately signed up because the admissions team truly demonstrated that the hospital is there to do everything possible to provide therapy to their patients. I was admitted to Encompass a week after my surgery. From the moment I walked in I was greeted by Chris, concierge liaison, to being escorted to my room by Telma, nurse technician and having my evaluation with Kristin, RN everything went smoothly. I knew I had made the right choice with Encompass. I made it in time for dinner service that first day and dinner was delicious! All of the meals are rich in flavor and the meal was always an adequate serving size. Therapy started the next day and I was determined to do my best in achieving my goals in learning how to cope with my recovery amid my pain on my hip. My therapist Aubrey, occupational therapist, and Megan, physical therapist, are by far exemplary of the fact that they both truly care for the best outcome for their patient. I worked with other therapists and they too exuded patient friendly sessions and demonstrate care. Both Aubrey and Megan would focus on exercises that were keen to my recuperation of my hip. After therapy depending on what medicines and dosage you have a dedicated nurse will administer your meds in your room or even in therapy areas. The nurses rotate between two floors and I was cared for by such wonderful nurses like Kristin, Andy, Alpha, Vintu, Marisol, and Nancy. These nurses work hard and maintain busy with each patient having unique medical needs. However, when I used to call them to come over to my room they would always greet me by my name and a smile. Nurse tech Telma, Shanica and Sherly were comforting and down right friendly. To conclude, I can honestly say my experience with Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital for ten days was exceptional. When it came time for my discharge I left with the knowledge of what was expected of me to continue with my rehab at home. I left with the tools and resources I need to do in order to regain my confidence in walking without any medical device! Encompass embodies a true atmosphere of patient care and I highly recommend this location for your rehabilitation needs.

Horrible facility nurses are very rude and unfriendly. Nurses are very bossy to elderly patients and ignore from there work responsibility. For example, my mom med was skipped purposely by the nurse because she is renal patient and had several surgery so too much constipation and doctor gave meds to help patient but nurse did not wanted to clean and care for the patient so she without consulting skipped her meds to aviod cleaning diarrhea. Therefore this caused my mothers lab work for kidney functioning get worst and poor lady was given more meds to brining everything in control. Plz do not send your parents here since they maybe abusing your parents. Very bossy in getting them on their feet to function eventhough docotor has restricted patient from walking after the surgery. Nurses push patient to the extreme as if the patient is not welcome there with care, love, and affection. They fakely smile in front but badmouthing behind the patient. I had checked the facility and i judged by the looks but i feel bad and it reminded me old time say dont judge the book by its hardcover. I thought this facility would be great for my mother but its Horrible and i feel bad for sending her there.

My husband was here for 25 days, I can say that it was very pleasant. From arrival until his Independence Day ( release day) it was great, everyone was attentive and professional. I especially am thankful to Mario and Meagan, they were so patient with him and made it possible for his progress. John,Andres and Sam were so helpful in his recovery as well. They taught me so much. The whole staff is wonderful. From the front desk, nurses, nurses aide, food service and maintenance. Facility was always clean, food services were always nice. Cant leave out the doctors, head staff and case workers, always showing concern for the patients. Than you all so much. This rehabilitation center left a wonderful impression on my husband and I.

My experience was not good. The rehab part was very good, the nurses/aids were great. The management leaves everything to be desired. So because of what the management did, we will never recommend or go back there. You cant control or even reason with the management, so you give up good nursing and rehab care. The management called me on a Friday night and told me my husband was being moved to St Lukes. I asked why and was told it was abnormal labs and he had a fever. I asked if he could go to Methodist, they said Methodist was full. I asked if he could go to Methodist ER and they said it was not an emergency. I asked if he could wait for a bed at Methodist since it was not an emergency, and none of his drs went to St Lukes except primary care. The abnormal labs would need his hematologist and he doesnt go to St Lukes. They didnt care. They said he has to leave. I asked if he could go somewhere else, Memorial Herman, they said he cant stay. I asked to speak to the dr and they called back and said he is going to St Lukes. I believe by then he was already gone. I tried calling our hematologist, he was out of town and his fill in didnt go to St Lukes. This was about 6:30 Friday night. I tried calling St Lukes and was told he wasnt there. Finally I got ahold of his primary care and told him the story. He said he would go over and find out. He called me back saying that admitting told him it was for Mental Confusion. Finally at 11:30 I got ahold of someone telling me he was in Room 415. The kicker is, he has been at St Lukes for a week, has seen no hematologists, all his labs are normal, Health South sent over no records at all, and he is going to a different rehab tomorrow. Never to go back to Health South. Why did they send him away - I dont know. But I wouldnt EVER trust that place again - dont you.
