Bought out David Tucker and charging me now 565$ instead of the normal $320 that I have paid 7 years in a row. And didn t even ask me how I wanted to file taxes rather did it all themselves and try to be slick to charge almost double and then say they will take me to court or collections if I don t pay intime. This firm is one of the most inaccessible and misrepresented companies I have worked with. If you are looking for a partner for your business, look elsewhere. They contract quarterly check ins which do not occur. They switched representatives every few months, so there is no continuity in the work they are performing or the discussions (when you are able to have them). They are nearly impossible to reach, and every time you do finally get a hold of them they have a Business Development Rep trying to sell you add on services instead of helping you answer simple questions. I worked with them for nearly 2 years and had only 2 phone conversations with either a CPA or accountant. On top of it all, there was a very distinct language barrier for every employee I spoke with (outside of the Business Development Rep trying to sell me more services). They not only didn t help me get my taxes done but actually made my filings LATE and showed zero sense of urgency or worry about it. 0/10. Very disappointing. Nearing fraudulence.

Absolutely the worst experience I have ever had with an accounting firm. Was told on 04-14-15 to $4669 now two weeks later I get a video saying I my taxes due are $4917 but still no return for me to look at. When I call I get someone will call me back that never happens.

This is a review of Burkhart Peterson and the Houston firm Manoloff (purchased by Burkhart Peterson in December 2022) for certain financial statement review and tax services I commissioned them to perform. In my opinion, both Burkhart Peterson and Manoloff are unethical and have effectively stolen money from me through their use of dirty, fictitious, and threatening tactics that goes against the terms of our executed engagement letter! Very poor and unprofessional behavior from a white collar CPA office; I would recommend avoid doing business with these guys at all costs. But here s a summary of what happened; decide for yourself if you would want to do business with these guys. I entered into an engagement with the Manoloff firm for review of my quarterly financials and Manoloff deducted funds from my account in Dec 2022, in advance of the Q4 2022 review. I terminated my engagement with the firm (now Burkhart Peterson) before any review work commenced. In fact, Manoloff/Burkhart Peterson had not even signed into my QuickBooks account at any point in 2023. I then asked for a refund for the Q4 2022 review because the fee is unearned but they refused, and in my opinion, this is highly unethical and equivalent to larceny. They have done no work but they kept my fee. My engagement letter reads verbatim look over financials quarterly... which has not happened so they should not be able to keep the fee. I asked Mr. Peterson to assist with the matter; however, I got a highly threatening response (in my opinion) to which Mr. Peterson informed me that I owe $300 for consulting work provided by Manoloff. However, there is no record of any work ever being performed. There are no phone calls, nor emails between Manoloff and me that would substantiate that any work had been performed. Nor, is there any record that I authorized any work to be performed. Rather, I only received an outrageous proposal for a question I had asked their business development employee. Then Mr. Peterson even indicated that there is an open invoice of $1,000 for ERTC refund work done for me in Q4 2021. I contacted the IRS on February 14, 2023 and the IRS informed me that there was nothing on file for Q4 2021 pertaining to ERTC refunds. In addition, I have no records or copies of any filings, nor any third-party confirmation of Manoloff ever filing or doing any work for me. Thus, in substance, Mr. Peterson and Manoloff are asking me to pay an invoice for something that does not exist! Furthermore, my engagement letter states verbatim the fee is paid only if funded. The fee is contingent, but they are asking me to pay the fee! Wow... So in summary Mr. Peterson and Manoloff countered my legitimate request for a refund of the Q4 2022 review work with threatening and fictitious allegations of non-existent consulting work of $300 and a contingent fee for a non-existent ERTC filing for $1,000. To make matters worse, Manoloff even filed my 2021 corporate tax return with this non-existent ERTC filing, so now I have to spend further money hiring another CPA to correct my 2021 tax return. And one more thing related to the Q4 2021 ERTC refund. I asked the Manoloff firm numerous times the status of the refund and if there was any way I could check the status. One of their responses was You may check for the IRS contact number on their website. Wow, how rude and unhelpful can a firm be? Especially for something they supposedly performed services / earned fees for. In my opinion, both Burkhart Peterson and Manoloff, are unethical and have what has amounted to, stolen money from me through their use of dirty, outright fictitious and threatening tactics that go against the terms of the actual signed engagement letter! Again, in my opinion, this is very poor and unprofessional behavior from a white collar CPA office. I regret doing business with these guys and would hate for anyone to make the same mistake.

Horrible Services, Unprofessional, and Rude- No Different from your neighborhood tax firm! I initially tried this firm because somehow they got my email and continuously spammed me with emails about Tax Loopholes, and Tax Credits so I felt like these guys could be trusted and as a small business owner I felt like they could give me guidance on taxes. Unfortunately that was not the case. For my 2021 Tax Return all they did was send me a link to send documents. More than 3 people was involved with my return and one was not to knowledgeable on taxes. When they finish all they said was I owed 10K and sent me an invoice.I tried calling numerous times to discuss why I owed so much and see what could be done but no one answers or when I get someone they keep forwarding me. I would rather speak to Mike. I had to leave my business to go onsite just to see if I could speak with someone. Chris came out with an attitude and was rude and tried to debate with me about if I called or not. He brushed me off and didnt care too much about my concerns. He sent a messenger email and guess call it a follow up but still no solutions to my tax liabilities. As of today, I still have not seen my return. I truly do not understand how they advertise about Its Your Money, Not The IRS but did not give any guidance nor they tried to speak with me. I could of went to Liberty Taxes for this headache... DO NOT GO!

I have requested free consultation. Their team member Mike Earhart called me. Although he sounded like he was knowledgeable, he was not able to give me hourly rate of consultation. I just needed someone to give second opinion on books rather than hire someone for bookkeeping. He said he needs to look at the balance sheet of business before deciding his hourly rate. I have decided to not hire based on this. To me it seems like their fees depend on size of your pocket. Didnt use their services so it would be unfair for me to take off all stars. I will give him 3.

Mike Manoloff has been my accountant since 2010 when I started my business. As an independent contractor, Ive never had to worry about my taxes because he and his courteous staff have taken care of all of my business accounting to the point where I have avoided serious trouble with the IRS by allowing his office to handle my income taxes. Whenever I need help or have questions, I call the office and I am immediately helped by Lorena Hernandez. If she doesnt have the answer for me right then, she ALWAYS responds to me withing 24 hours. And she patiently handles every one of my requests. One thing I really like too is that Mike and his staff will answer questions by e-mail and NEVER charge for that kind of professional advice. I highly recommend them for anyone looking for peace of mind regarding income taxes, especially if youre an independent contractor like me.

When I began to use Mikes CPA services a couple of years ago, I was repeatedly hounded to leave a review. Of course, I left a good one at the time. However, as time passed, I found out that they are very, very sloppy in the services they provide. They took over out bookkeeping and made hundreds of mistakes that we now have to go back and fix. I terminated the services and explained our dissatisfaction with the services he and his firm rendered. There wasnt even as much as a phone call or email with any remorse. In an effort to warn others, I highly do NOT recommend their services. They WILL make mistakes on bookkeeping and tax returns that will cost an unnecessary headaches and money!!

I which, I could give Mike Manoloff a negative start. He did our business tax preparation at least 6 times, and on every version of our tax preparation there was a mistake, a missing expense, non in balance books account and incorrect calculation of asset depreciation. CPA was unknowable of properly completing form 4562 and incapable of carryover disallowed section 179 deduction to next year. After I decided not to continue trying to complete my tax preparation with someone who was not communicative and didn t understood the new tax laws and regulations that were take in place on 2018, I refuse to paid an invoice for a service that I didn t received and a couple month latter a lawsuit for an unpaid invoice, that end up on a judgment against my business. I don t recommend you going to this business if you don t want to go through a headache.

Communications were very difficult. The wheels came off of the bus when I discovered that we were 1-day from missing the deadline to file my first S-Corp tax return. There was no communication from Mike or his office as to the impending deadline, nor was there any proactive move to file an extension (as we were still waiting for word from the IRS on my S-Corp election). Once we missed the deadline, filing an extension was impossible. We wound up being late and subject to heavy fines. I gave up and when to another firm in Colorado. They were excellent in comparison.

My parents have used him for over 20 years and they love him! They will never change CPA and they are willing to wait if he gets busy. His staff is quick and responsive as well. Respectful and never had a problem.

I have known Mike for more than seven years. An honest and professional CPA. I actually worked for him for more than one year, and only left to work with the Comptroller. As an former employee, Mike treated his employees with respect and generosity. When I decided to open my business, he was the first person in my mind. I met with Mike in a short notice and we sat down and he explained thoroughly what I needed to do and how I should go about it. He is my CPA now. As a sales tax consultant, I refer all my clients to him for accounting, quickbooks and in general bookkeeping business. Mike Manoloff is the best in Houston!

Mike Manoloff was without a doubt the worst accountant I have ever worked with. He charged an extremely high amount for our returns and failed to file one of the returns. Months later I approached him asking him about it he immediately blamed me and told me it was my problem. Offered no help in correcting the matter and made it abundantly clear that he had not interest in helping me. Extremely rude and unprofessional.

We found him to be very unprofessional, we used him for the first and last time to do our 2015 tax return and had to take it to another accountant to have it redone. We had to threaten to file a claim with his E&O insurance just to get our tax documents back. I wish we had read all of the reviews before choosing him.

I have been with Mikes company for years and have been happy since the beginning. He is attentive and pays attention to detail. I unfortunately had money stolen from my business account by my previous cpa (Joe Becker from Beckers Tax Service) and Mike helped turn that dire situation into a tax benefit. My taxes are done in a timely manner and is done correctly. I was constantly being contacted by the IRS with my previous cpa years ago, but now, have been IRS free and even received a few refund checks with Mikes services. I trust Mike and his team. They are always available by phone or email and Ive always received quick responses. Mike readily gives advice and offers appointments if one may desire to discuss anything in further detail with him in person; however, I rarely need to meet with him because he immediately responds to all my emails and answers my questions. I have also been utilizing their payroll services as well with no complaints. I continuously recommend his services when colleagues ask if I know of a good cpa. His fees are not inexpensive, but the service provided and being able to sleep well at night knowing that your taxes are done correctly justifies it.

Setting up an S-Corp with Mr. Manoloff was easy, Mike answered all my questions and we had the entire process completed within a few days for a VERY reasonable price. The service is timely and you pay for it. Mike is not really a ppl person. Mike does not really advise you as a business owner much either. I told him that I will not be using his services for the next year 2015 but he immediately stopped the services for my last quarter of 2014 and left me hanging for last quarter 2014 filings. He is expensive if you want to do payroll with him. I guess he has plenty of business to worry about small fishes in the pond
