Ive been here a few times and my experience is always different. But today my experience wasn t very pleasant. I ordered two separate to go orders over the phone. They stated it would be ten minutes. When I arrived it wasn t ready so I had to wait. Then a second person came and acknowledged me, I asked him if I could pay now while I was waiting for food. He had to separate the tickets and gasped as if he was disturbed by having to separate the transactions two times. Apparently if you pay cash they reduce the amount due which I wasn t aware. Anywho I don t know if I will be coming back since I got the vibe of inconveniencing them with my separate payments.

First of all, no one gets 5 stars, so this is the best. My wife, her sister and I eat there probably 2 times a month. With all the choices of places to eat, we choose El Mariachi when we go out. Look at the stars (also, the Astros are on the T.V.s-thats another plus).

I dined in with my wife and dinner was $110+ (including tax and tip) for 2 apps, 2 drinks, and 2 entrees. Very expensive for the level of service and food that we received. Dont get me wrong, it was tasty, but it is definitely overpriced. The service really needs to be brought up to par if the restaurant is going to charge these kind of prices. I was even charged an additional $2.50 for chips IN ADDITION to the queso *and* guacamole appetizers we ordered that totaled more than $20. We kindly asked for a bit more salsa for the chips and were brought about 2-3 tablespoons. Having been there 10+ times in the past, I will now be considering other alternatives next time we crave tex-mex. Other items of note: $3.50 for plain tea (!), $22+ for a large margarita, $4.75 for a beer.

Terrible experience tonight. The service was super slow. We actually received our queso before our chips (and not because our queso came out quickly). One kids meal was forgotten by our server and had to be put in after the rest of our meals arrived. Portion size for the kids meals was very disappointing - we literally paid $7.25 for 3 chicken nuggets . On top of all that, they push their credit card fees onto their customers. While the Tacos al Carbon tasted great, the cons severely outweigh the pros. We will not be back. Kid-friendliness: Kids portion sizes are very stingy.

Theres plenty of Tex-Mex restaurants like this one in our area. They are my favorite because the food is so good, every time and they have reasonable prices. I love the large and lively space and the outdoor area where kids can play.

I went for the first time yesterday and was surprised that I had to pay extra if I wanted to use my credit card. That is just wrong. I also did not see this policy posted at the restaurant nor do I see it on the website. This was the #2 location at 610 Rayford Rd. The food was good, service was slow, but having to pay extra for using a card and a surprise at that, left a bad taste.

The food was just ok. It took forever for us to be seated, we got our complimentary chips and salsa and ordered our drinks. The waiter came at a decent amount of time for us to order our food. We ordered a small queso and our main meals (it was just 2 of us) we went through 2-1/2 bowls of salsa and 2 baskets of chips, and about 10 min later the queso comes out finally...it had that powdered type texture to it and it had to be doctored by the salsa. The main meals came out and they looked great but the flavor was just kind of so so. The 2 things we liked the most out of everything was the salsa and the rice.

Hard to even give 3 stars. Food was mediocre. Drinks VERY watered down. My premium skinny margarita came with no salt (requested salt) & an orange slice (what happened to lime?). Definitely not freshly made. From a mix. Food is just your typical Tex-Mex. Fajita Pete s MUCH better. Then we got our check and a credit card fee of over $2 was added to the bill! What? This is new to me. Have never had this happen in a restaurant . Will drive the extra distance to Lupe s net time we want Mexican. Or back to Fajita Pete s.

Food is good, service is spectacular. What I was not even close to happy about is having a credit card fee added after my bill is brought to me and having no knowledge of it. I had cash and would have used it if I d have known. I don t feel with the prices being as high as they are I should have to incur a charge higher than the establishment pays even. Just an fyi for those people who don t mind paying it, I for one don t return to places who want to take advantage of its customers.

We went at 7pm today and got margaritas and the appetizer with ceviche, guacamole, quesito, and cocktail shrimp and it was fantastic! I grew up in South Houston in an all Mexican neighborhood, and this food flavor is authentic, reminds me of being a kid growing up hearing Selena wile eating elote while riding my bicycle. The Stuffed Beef Fajita Avocado was perfectly crisp and tasteful. Everything tasted fresh, even the chips and perfect salsa with onions and cilantro. Our glasses never got empty, the service was A+ from the busboys and waiter, Jose. Music is loud enough not to hear other people, but quiet enough to hear your table. It s a family restaurant, so if you don t want to hear a baby cry occasionally, then sit near the bar or on the patio. Restroom was spotless. Our waiter Jose was kind and helpful. Great job!

We have eaten here a few times, and it was ok. Last night we ate here again, and it will be our last time. I had the La Plazita plate. The tamale was mushy, the texture was gone, and there was no flavor at all. The Taco was not good. The chips were good, and the salsa was not. My wife and daughter had the queso as an appetizer...bad choice. The queso was not white, but yellow and tasted like it came out of a big can you buy from Sams club. Without a doubt, the worst Mexican food I have ever had. But the service was good, and I tipped well as usual.

This place is tucked in the back of strip mall and might be little hard to find but don t let that stop you from giving it a try. I came here for dinner and getting a seat was not a problem. The dinning room is fairly big and there is also a covered patio. They do have a full liquor bar. The (Casado mix) mixed fajitas I ordered came out quick. The portion for one is not as generous as other places. The chicken and steak were done perfect. What I didn t like was the grilled shrimp came out with the shell and tail on. It was difficult to separate with fork and knife, forcing me to use my fingers. The staff was very pleasant and attentive.

This is my favorite local Mexican restaurant. The food is always amazing. My favorite thing about El Mariachi that separates it from other local Mexican restaurants is the owner and his investment in the guest that visit. Adrian regularly stops by each table and talks with all his guests. We have been lucky enough to have special items dropped off at our table for sampling possible menu additions. Its always amazing and authentic. From the moment we walk in until the moment we walk out, we are treated as family.

As soon as you walk inside, you are greeted with a smile. They also have their margarita menu, with pictures, on the wall as soon as you walk in. As soon as you re seated the waiter brings everyone at the table a cup of ice water. Which I think every restaurant should be doing. The alcohol drinks weren t too weak nor too strong. The margaritas were actually perfect. I got the House margarita jumbo size. My husband got the Parton margarita. The Parrillada poblano had so much flavor. The quesadillas were decent. Great food! Dined in a couple weeks ago and got the carne asada plate. The meat was well seasoned, the charro beans were good, and the drinks tasted great too! All in all it was money well spent. I d definitely recommend it.

A very familiar restaurant with Mexican food. Very good service. They always serve us very well and quickly. The birria is very tasty. They have a wide variety of highly recommended dishes. This is our go-to Mexican restaurant. We have a hard time trying other Mexican restaurants now because every time we eat here everything has been amazing, even the kids cheese pizza and French fries is some of the best Ive tasted! I try a different dish every time and have not been disappointed yet! Kid-friendliness: When the weather is nice we sit on the patio and there are some toys in the corner my boys love to play with. Depending on the day they have live music and a balloon artist inside, which my boys also love!

Update 01/25/23 - Great New Appetizer - TACOS AUTENTICO - Two flour tortillas, with homemade shredded chorizo, cactus strips, queso fresco, and refried beans. Dash with a squeeze of lime and dip in hot homemade salsa for authentic South-of-the-Border cuisine. Fantastic!! Update 12/16/21 - The Quesabarrila is a delicious birria-style cooked beef, and melted mozzarella cheese between two grilled flour tortillas, served with a perfect tangy dipping sauce made with chilies, onions, tomatoes, and spices. This dish is delicious! But you have to ask for it. This restaurant provides big-time, authentic, delicious Mexican food in a comfortable setting. There are no generic, bland, or store-bought menu items here; every item is hot, fresh, and flavorful. The Parrilla Poblana Fajitas are a perfect blend of beef, chicken, bacon, peppers, and seasonings served with house-made tortillas, fresh and chunky guacamole, charro beans with a touch of spice, and Mexican rice. And the staff is friendly and efficient, including the manager who makes the rounds to make sure everything is just right. Definitely a great meal!

Good spot good food . We have the crispy tacos . The ground meat definitely could have more seasoning and less grease. I ordered the ceviche and shrimp combo. It was ok but the sauce was way to sweet. Too much other food to try. The chips and salsa are great. Especially the green sauce
