Third or fourth time visiting and can confirm, the value just isnt here outside of their burgers. The food is middling, service is okay, but unprofessional. The only thing going for puffabellys is their location. The live music is inside and adjacent to most of the inside tables. Makes it hard to hold a conversation. Today I got the shrimp poboy. Took 40 minutes to come out and the place isnt even busy. Portion was small, bread felt old and flavorless, the shrimp and side were cold. My friends plate was missing a side. The onion rings were absolutely delicious though and the beer was cold.

Came in a few times for a business lunches. I had the Smokehouse Burger with cheddar and bacon. That was a damn good burger. See the picture. Nice atmosphere, and the service was excellent. Update: Been here another 5 or 6 times and its still reall6 good food and service.

AMAZING food, atmosphere and hospitality! i was greeted by the super sweet aleyah, where she gave me GREAT recommendations. her and evan helped me decide what to order! ended up ordering onion rings appetizer to go and was thoroughly impressed! great choice, staff really knows their menu!! super yummy and great service. first visit and def won t be my last visit either!

All I can say is disappointed with service. It took almost an hour to get our food. Other people were served who arrived after my party. My waiter never asked if we wanted refills on drinks. Spent most of his time talking to some girls at the table behind us. When food was brought out they forgot fries. Another waitress could see we had been waiting a long time. No manager ever cam out to check on how we were doing. No urgency. I have been going here for years and when I spend over $100 for four people to eat, I expect better. Better off going to the other restaurants in Old Town Spring which is where I will be taking by business in the future.

I d been wanting to try this place for a while.My family and I made it out for dinner and,unfortunately,it was not a great experience.The girls that work here are sweethearts,including our waitress.The food was good.The Moscow Mules were awesome! The food came out quick.The building is an old train depot and it is so neat! The only issues were the live music and the flies.Had we known there was live music on a Thursday evening,we would not have gone.It was extremely loud.As soon as we got our food,someone thought it would be a good idea to prop open the back door.We were immediately overtaken with flies.We spent the entire time swatting flies away from our food and our kid s food.We were in the middle of the restaurant,by the bar.I know all of the staff could see us flailing our arms about like crazy people,yet no one closed the door nor asked us if we were doing ok.My husband was so upset about this.I m sure we won t be back.

This place used to be absolutely amazing! However the inside update is terrible! The service mediocre....the food is not the same...at all...and Im sorry when did they decide to tack on an 18% gratuity per person at my six person table??? I will never ever return to a place Ive been going to for over 20 years ! Menu and atmosphere is not worth the return! Sorry. And your response totally awesome ! First time here the other evening and the service was not good. The two servers we had didnt check on the table much and only came around once for refills, one server got two orders wrong and didnt bring one of my parties entrée until the end of our time there and after multiple requests for condiments (which he took over 30min to bring) the food was sub-par for the price. I live in the area and it was the first time here and sadly my last. I had high hopes for this place because I pass by the establishment often and it seems to be busy but I guess that the tourist in the area dont really know any better. 3/10

The menu is a good example of southern comfort foods, and the cooks are excellent at delivering consistency. Always double-check your iced tea though, if ordering unsweetened. Occasionally it is water, as though the person forgot to actually use a tea pod/bag. The waitstaff is ALWAYS friendly, quick, and excellent at tending to your needs. On a side note, the reputation of being haunted is not as evident during busy daylight hours. Dinner could be more spirited. Parking: The restaurant has available parking around it, but you may find people abuse it by parking and walking to shops. So it can be a very full parking lot with half filled seating inside.

A great experience and loved the look of the restaurant. The food was amazing, and my kids loved it. My only complaint is that the waiter was not very attentive. Didnt ask if we wanted more to drink or if we wanted anything else. He didnt even bring our bill, someone else did. Everything else was great and might go again, but hopefully, we will get a different server.

Was told to come by twice to do application and a interview. First time I went their was no applications and no one to interview me. Second time I did the interviewed and fill out out the application. She said she likes me and I for sure have a job with 4 days she just was unsure on what 4 days exactly. On March the 9th she told me to give her a call on March the 19th bc she will be out of town. I receive a text on March the 17th stating that they decided to go with a different candidate. Mind you before I left on the 9th I asked do I for sure have a job ? She said yes and we shook on it. I m big on someone s word . With that being said it was very unprofessional to tell me that I HAVE the job to take it back before my start date. I hate when someone thinks it s okay to play with my time and money. NOT TODAY OR EVER LOVE. I went with another candidate. You didn t even know what days you had available. I m leaving This review so people can be aware !!! Lets see. Was just there. Asked to sit outside, and after getting the door open we went outside. The other couples also came out to be sat outside also. The waitress/bartender walked passed us and waited on the 1st group that came outside after us. Took their drink order and went off to get the drinks. She came back with the drinks and took their order. In the meantime, a couple and their children came out and sat down. After taking the order, she walked over to the people that had just sat down, started to take their order. She didnt even look at us, or acknowledge our existence. We got up and left. Worst service we have ever had in Old Spring and would recommend any place but there.

Some food prices are a little too high for me. I like the different items on the menu to fit everyones taste buds. The young waiter that was helping us kept forgetting about items we asked for, such as utensils and the queso I was supposed to receive with my quesadillas. After we were eating, we kids wanted a free desert, which was cotton candy, and that took the longest. As we were waiting for the cotton candy for 10 minutes, I decided to go ahead and get the cobbler. I asked for cobbler to be divided since I was splitting it with my friend, and it came out great but still before the cotton candy that we had ordered previously. Quickly seated, slow and forgetful service and ok food.

I ordered $50 worth of food from puffabellys yesterday for pick up. Not the first time I have ordered from this restaurant. I got home to find my whole order was wrong, they put bacon on both our traditional and steam engine burger. My family and I don t eat pork . I also ordered the beef empanada and it was chicken when I tasted it. We called them and they offered to give us CREDIT for the food so we took the credit. We called today for them to honor the credit and the first thing the lady on the phone said her manager told her not to honor the credit for us. It didn t make sense but we called again to find out why the change of heart only for the manager to tell us we can t prove the food had bacon and that s why they changed their minds. This was very upsetting because it was such an insult for us. We love good food and rest assured we will not be coming back to this establishment. We have notified our family not to order from there ever again.

We ordered food yesterday when we got home we found out that the food had bacon we called them back right away, they told us over the phone that they will give us a credit for the mistake, and let me remind you we order there all the time and never once had any issues and the next day we called back to re-order and the store manager said she cant honor the store credit, because there is no proof they gave us the wrong order. If they had told us to bring it back we would have but instead they first apologized for making her wrong order we then threw away the food because we cannot eat bacon. She told us they can give us 50% off on the next order Its not about the money its about the Principal you dont lie to your customers we will never order this place again and I will make sure our friends and family are aware of this and to stay away from this restaurant. You lost us as a customer This is my first negative review I ever wrote in my life to any establishment that should tell you something.

We ve been here a few times since new ownership took over (and have been coming here for years) and the food quality remained the same so no big deal. However today we tried it again and it has taken a nosedive off a cliff. Previously you could get a 1/2 hamburger on a really nice homemade bun with crispy, double fried fries for a reasonable price. Today we got what looked like a 1/3 burger on a generic bun. They tried to have the fries double fried but it was just so so for $15. Overall it was just another okay burger and nothing like it used to be. Not sure where our server went during our visit but a lot of the old staff is gone too. Times change and so do we won t be coming back.

I went with the fried catfish and shrimp lunch with corn and Mac and cheese. The hush puppies stole the show! So much that I ordered some to go. These are properly made hush puppies. The shrimp was delicious and prepared just right. The catfish was delicious. This by far was the best Mac and cheese I ve had a restaurant and I m a Mac and cheese snob. It was the cheesiest. I m definitely coming back to try something else. I have enough food left over for another whole meal.

The location and set up of this place is awesome. Unfortunately the deep fried everything food with little alternate options takes one star. Even on the fried food ordered, another star is taken for the totally bland flavors and non-imaginative sauces served with it. Lastly the service was horrendous...it was a beautiful fall Saturday afternoon and the place was full. It was obvious that Management has a very poor idea of staff requirements. And those present were NOT at all effective or efficient...it is sad, but I will not return and will not recommend until I hear a significant change of Management and menu has been incorporated. Update on the review - It is unfortunate when management can not use customers input in an attempt to improve themselves...another star removed for the unfortunate managements response to the original comments.

My family and I went to get one of our family daughters ears pierced in old Town spring and followed it up with lunch here. We had sebastian as our waiter. He was great with my 4 year old. He made sure everyone enjoyed their meal. I was there with my 4 year old and 6 month old and I was actually able to eat and enjoy the atmosphere. They had live music and it was great! My daughter enjoyed dancing to the live music. It was just a great experience all together! I cant believe we had a nice family dinner that wasnt stressful. My steak was fantastic, best, l have had in a long time. Green beans and baked potato were great. Sad to say, but my salad was full of the white part of the lettuce, hardly any green at all. Wow. Should be a 6-star review. Great location by the tracks in the old part of town. We rolled in on a sat night. Live music is playing with just a few people. I was concerned, but to hell with it must not be that good. So we sat down to order anyway. The sampler appetizer was great and large portions. The onion rings battered to perfection. The pickles and jalapeños had a very light batter. The puffa peppers are fried peppers and cheddar cheese. Nothing we had that fried was greasy or over breaded. The main course- the burgers are a good size. But the chicken fried steak was the best. It was lightly battered. It was 90% steak and 10% BATTER. JUST PERFECT. Seasoned well. The mash taters were ok. The Mac and cheese by far was the best side. Listen, Im fat and from the south. If you can fry it, I have. This place is as close to nannys cooking as you can get. And to top it off, you can watch the train roll by from the patio.

Came on a Friday afternoon, it wasn t busy, horrible service. Came as a party of 6, when we were sat, the waitress never took our drink order. We had to individually ask her for drinks as she ran by our table. If we didn t flag her down as she was zooming by, we wouldn t have gotten things we needed. We split our checks 3 ways, they automatically add 18% gratuity to parties of 6 or more, but only 1 of the checks that was split 3 ways had the automatic gratuity. Puffabellys has been a favorite of mine for many years. I like the old school train depot atmosphere, which is what Old Town Spring is all about, and the prices are reasonable. I was glad to see that after the remodel, the food quality stayed the same. Traditional track-shack food is the fare here...burgers, spuds, sandwiches, chicken fried steak, fried green tomatoes, etc. All delicious. There are a few styling elements which clash a bit in my opinion- the drink cups are perfect...traditional red plastic as they should be, but the black stoneware plates, while beautiful, are out of place. The atmosphere calls for red plastic baskets with checkerboard wax paper liners, or if anything ceramic, ordinary white diner plates would fit the bill. The entryway is a bit odd- it kind of has this Perrys Steakhouse wine cellar thing going on with neon lights and cold, contemporary minimalism. Its almost like what happened to the extension of Wunsche Bros. after the rebuild...the original structure is just perfect, but then you have this strange Gen-Z austere contemporary thing going on in the periphery. I ordered the Firebox burger, and enjoyed it...although I probably wont do American cheese next time. That was on me. The patties were just the right size for a track shack burger. Not heavily seasoned, but thats what I want in a classic burger. It was just right. So Id give this place a solid review, with only some preferential advice on the upgrades, considering the primary clientele that patronizes the old Spring food scene.

Got the Firehouse Burger. The patty was cooked well but not seasoned well. The bun is a sweet bun and the jalapenos are candied which is not a great compliment to a beef burger IMO. Also a huge missed opportunity not having special sauces for each different burger. But everything was cooked well and clean establishment so three stars.

Ive been coming here for years. I always get the frito pie. It was not on the menu anymore. They said they could accommodate in the future but they didnt have Fritos. I ordered the chili cheese potato. Did not come with sour cream as it said. Was charged when asked for it. It was ok. Mostly the food is the same... some good changes some not great. I will say this, I do feel as though atmosphere wise, the place suffers from an identity crisis. It feels as if the owner wants to own a high end restaurant in a train depot. Theres two separate worlds of gorgeous immaculate bathrooms and trendy plating options however that clashes with the down home country food and the fact that its historically a comfort food place with trains. As gorgeous as the owners taste is, it does seem a bit confused. I like the bar addition.... Its also mismatched and has a taco truck vibe. Miss some of the charm. Its not that the aesthetics are not awesome concepts but together it feels like it cant decide what it wants to be. Our waiter was Carlos. Very polite. Good communication. 5 for Carlos. Hopefully next time I can haz Fritos

Had the bacon cheeseburger with fries and a side of onion rings, with a pint of Hefeweizen (Yes, they Actually have Hef!) All delicious! Our waiter was Awesome and totally deserved his tip!Lost one star for employee who didnt wash her hands after using toilet. (gross!) Kid-friendliness: Kids welcome

Most things are fried here. I went because they ate one of the few places that serve fried green tomatoes. The batter is very simple and plain. Can tell it has salt but most likely thats the only seasoning it has. The crust is thin and falls off but they cooked them well. Served w ranch on the side. Parking: Signage is marked for restaurant patrons only.

Lovely place for lunch or dinner. New ownership. Quaint Texas ambiance. Newly updated and large, expanded restrooms are a clear indicator of the new vision for a fantastic restaurant experience. Two large patio areas accommodate many more diners now. Live music offered on weekends and an excellent sound system was playing a good selection of country music. My fried shrimp basket allowed for two sides, and I selected green beans and mashed potatoes with cream gravy. All were very delicious and well seasoned. I highly recommend this venue.

Like most of my reviews, the rating is for the food. This isnt your run-of-the-mill fried food hamburger restaurant. The fried items (onion rings, fried pickles, fried jalapeno!, French fries, chicken fried chicken) all have a nice homemade feel to it and not overly fried. The burgers were good, and the mashed potatoes and gravy were stellar. All that food and having the atmosphere of Old Town Spring and being in a rustic building leads to five stars! The server was a young guy who was trying his very best, and that was very appreciated. Sidenote: What happened to the roof of the haunted ice house in the parking lot!

I used to work here when i was younger about 5 years ago , I saw the renovations happening and was hopeful . It no longer feels like puffabellys , the food is no where near as good as it was, I have never left a review before but this place holds a special place in my heart as it was my second home at one point and its sad to see the gentrification happen SO fast and not in a good way. I hope the owners at least look into bringing the old menu/product back

DO NOT EVER DO BUSINESS WITH THESE PEOPLE. If I could give this place a 0-star I would. My fiancé and I are getting married on Jan. 6th and booked this restaurant for our rehearsal dinner on the 5th. We have been calling for weeks and have had no luck getting ahold of anyone to confirm our booking. My fiancé drove there tonight to speak with someone in person and to her surprise, the entire place is under construction. Now 2 days before our rehearsal and 3 days before our wedding we are having to scramble calling restaurants to find somewhere last minute that can hold 40+ guests on a basically a 1 day notice. I would never recommend Puffabellys to anyone ever. The old owner would have NEVER allowed this to happen, these new owners are running what once was an amazing establishment and part of the community to the ground.

The new owners have done a great job updating a restaurant I stopped going to years ago. EVERYTHING is better from the clean, welcoming atmosphere to the service to the food quality. And it is the only restaurant in Old Town Spring with a real parking lot. We will be back. The employees actually seem happy to be here which is rare these days.
