Got the fried catfish here. The fries were well seasoned and fresh, and the catfish was fresh. In fact the food might have been too fresh as it deformed the container it was in due to the heat. However, I find the taste and breading of the catfish to be disappointing. Still, if you enjoy catfish I d suggest trying it out here.

We really wanted to try this place, my sister had gone a couple years ago and enjoyed it, but THE STENCH was overwhelming. I m not sure why it smelled so horrible, it was like we were standing in their dumpster. The man working was very sweet and welcoming but we could not handle the putrid smell of rotting fish. I really hope they do something about it because San Marcos really needs a crawfish place.

My son was begging me for fried fish and we decided to try OMG. He said it s the best fried fish he s had and I have to agree. I tried it and it was crispy and so well seasoned while still juicy inside. It was perfection as is but even more delicious when dipped in their butter. I don t live in San Marcos but would drive here for this place.

Only plus since they reopened is you can now eat in. Instead of the fried fish or shrimp I opted for the shrimp boil bag. It was AWFUL friends. Shrimp was so overcooked it was mushy. The corn was cold and they only offer purified bottled water and HEB knock off canned soda. Should have gone with my first instinct to go to Clear Springs in NB! Worth the drive and better quality seafood. Unfortunately felt my $ was wasted here

I m pretty sure they cook their crawfish dead. Lots of my crawfish already came with the body separated from the tail. When I would pull the tail out of the shell it would not come out fully or come out crumbly. I can t speak on their other food, but the crawfish I got was not good. Ik the inside of the establishment is supposed to smell like seafood but I could smell something rotten while standing in different points of the restaurant.

We went to OMG Seafood. The smell in front of the restaurant was horrible. It smelled like a dumpster that contained rotting milk and seafood. We ordered our food. The cashier was friendly, but I couldnt get past the smell, which was worse inside, not to mention the flies swarming around. We sat down, but there was no way I could eat inside there. My friend and I grabbed our food to go. I would rate the food higher, but I still had the smell in my nose and couldnt enjoy the fried shrimp combo I ordered. For a Best Seafood winner in 2022, I will not eat there again.

Update: called the store to let them know and figure it out and they told me they ll give me $26 worth of cooked crawfish and a that s all I wanted because I wanted to eat them I pull up 30min later for the crawfish and they sold me they are sold out I asked for a refund and I didn t have my reciept so they told me no refund what an establishment lmfao I ve been here two times before this to get live crawfish to boil myself and it s been excellent eating but my third time going today I don t know if I d be back bought 4lbs for $26 and I can safely say I ll only be eating 1lb and should of only paid for 1lb. In the pictures the plastic bag is all the dead ones I have to forfeit.

Very disappointed! We drove about an hour we were very excited to pick up live crawfish well once we got home they smelled so bad we thought maybe just a couple of them were dead. I went in today really excited to eat crawfish for the first time this season but boy was i disappointed. First off, I feel like their pricing is way too much for the quality of the crawfish. The crawfish were mushy, over cooked, and a lot of them were dead. Waste of money I could not even eat more than half of them. Second, when it came the atmosphere i give them a 1/5 stars just because it looks kinda dirty in there. I will say the guy at the front was really nice and he checked on me a good amount of times. Overall I would not go back and it s unfortunate they are one of the only crawfish places in San Marcos. No wonder they are award winning there really isn t much competition. Nothing to do with the staff the food was just not up to par.

I got crawfish 3 years ago, and it was very good, but then moved. I recently moved back to NB, but Door Dash in SM. I had forgotten about OMG, but when I drove past it, I was like YES ! First off I called my order in got there and only half of my order was rung up completely missed half of it so then I waited for my seafood platter that I had to pay for separately than my other stuff cuz it wasnt rung up got it my fish was cold took two bites out of it it was disgusting. OK we ordered a number to platter that has have corn potato, sausage and shrimp. It was delicious but I m telling you right now it is spicy like really really spicy.. I have requested a milder version but I think they are ok with what they have. The staff is really friendly, but I m telling you right now. If you don t like spicy, do not get the boils. I really thought that I could do it and I can t. I couldn t eat most of it but my husband sure did finish it. Like I said that s good if they get a Mauser version on the menu, I will come back there reasonably priced friendly staff would recommend at 100%..

I used to love this place. The flavor, the spice, perfect. Last time I picked up 3 pounds of the boiled crawfish, it was very disappointing. All small. Honestly try giving everyone the benefit of the doubt. Unfortunately I was disappointed, the crawfish was super salty, there were at least 6 that didn t even have any meat and looked old. But the food and the staff are top notch when your in San Marcos craving some seafood boil! Or some mudbugs come on into OMG seafood for a treat . Im visiting San Marcos for a work conference. I searched for a seafood spot and this popped up. Read the reviews and was excited to go. When I arrived no one was visible, no employees, no customers, no one. I didnt smell any food, it was a weird smell, like a dirty house. We bought 4 catfish dinners. The food was good. We also got the gumbo which was very good. It would be good if they offered Cole slaw. My only concern is the price, which I thought was a bit steep. For what we bought: almost 50.00. I can go to Clear Springs restaurant and get twice that much for the same price. I guess thats why Clear Springs is so dang busy! Anyway, OMG is close and good. I am a first time customer and was very impressed by the taste, quality, and quantity of the meals I purchased. The fried catfish and fried shrimp were absolutely perfect. The fries were fries, good fries, but dang that fish and shrimp were excellent. Get some Xtra rolls they were pretty dang good too. HOT RESTAURANT !!! I personally liked the fried shrimp, catfish and corn and potatoes with garlic butter. The gumbo can be good also. I used to work there as a cashier, helping to cook occasionally and cleaning the tables. Various duties to open or close the restaurant always taking into account my disability. I NEVER turned down the Owner, Shane Billout, whenever he needed me to work on short notice but last Wednesday he laid me off with no notice. One day I worked there, the next day I didnt. I would have NEVER quit with no notice. He gave me a couple reasons for the lay off but I still feel like he treated me unfairly.

As soon as I walked through the front door and was blasted in the face with Cajun spices strong enough to make my eyes well up a bit I knew I had found a good crawfish spot. This place did not disappoint with great prices and no BS. Finally a place I can order a crawfish boil without the other veggies and fillers, they do offer them, but you pay for them separate as it should be. Fried catfish and shrimp were also cooked to perfection and we will definitely be adding this to our monthly cravings list!

My husband and I found OMG about a year ago. Our experience had always been pleasant being that weve seen the same familiar faces and great customer service. But this evening we had a completely different vibe. Not only were there not the same faces, but a completely different staff, the food was less then desirable. Usually our crawdads are nice and fresh and the shrimp is cooked to perfection, accentuated by a side of potatoes, corn, and sausage. This time or crawdads were beyond overcooked, most of the dads were mushy and others were overcooked and stick to the shells. Possibly reheated from the pervious day.t The shrimp was chewy and it wasnt piping hot. We ordered a bag of sausage with corn and potatoes and only got potatoes. We wanted a lid for the spice seasoning to take home the costly shrimp for the dogs and the staff replied we dont carry lids which is odd for those customers who order to go menus and ask for the seasoning. Wouldnt you have to have a lid? I must say we were sadly disappointed and questioning whether we will visit again. This was April 16th 2022 at 7:00 pm

Scrimp was excellent. Gumbo was OK...liquid was from crab boil bag and too much sausage but otherwise ok for Texas (it is not traditional south Louisiana gumbo per say). Worth the drive to eat here. In a tough part of town but I felt safe. Dont expect a nice restaurant as it is a dive both inside & out....if that bothers you, take out. Cooked fresh and hot.

Ok, so my gumbo was a) watery-bad roux b)no flavor. No spice, no flavor. I grew up on Cajun food my whole life in Houston with Louisiana friends cooking me some of the best gumbo in the world . However what I will say was amazing about this place is the characters that came in here. I saw it inside for a little over an hour and talked to you about six different people. Some wonderful elderly people all had amazing stories. One knew my family from 40 years ago back in South Texas. I really want to like the food, but the owner needs to realize that that is not gumbo. And how about getting some bottles of Tabasco? And how about doing some recycling here? the level of waste was literally killing me. All the plastic and cans and everything being thrown away.

They charge you extra when you use a credit card or debit card and they dont tell you and they say its on the door why put it in the door put it in the restaurant so that the customer can see it and let the them know I came from San Antonio and the crawfish was so salty. This place closes at 9:30, walked in at 8:10pm, guy at the counters gives this wow really look to my group. Then he s proceeds to first tell us everything he s run out of. He was rude and not welcoming at all, When he served our cokes he dropped the cans on top of the table hard, we said thank you and he did not respond. The guy the counter needs training on how to treat customers, With that bad attitude a restaurant job is probably the only thing he can get so I would be in a bad mood myself if I was him. The food was below expectations, I see a lot of good reviews for this restaurant, These positive reviews must be from personal friends and family to the owner. I did not have a good experience here.

The best atmosphere, staff.....AND food, havent had crawdads by the pound in ten years, and the catfish is amazing. Good thing for tourist, but if you grew up on this it is HOME COOKIN at its best.

This place is a joke. Bought three pounds of crawfish. They clearly had been sitting around for a while. Meat was mushy, and the crawfish were small. I will never return. Do yourself a favor and head to another place out of San Marcos, San Marcos is done for crawfish!!!

Crawfish was seasoned nicely (very spicy), but out of three pounds I probably only got a pound that was worth eating. Most were dead, over-cooked or too tiny. Really disappointing. Sausage and potatoes were good, though.

Stopped in for dinner with my wife. Staff was very nice and friendly. Place was clean but very hot. We decided to split a fried shrimp and fish basket. Fish was very thin and slightly over cooked. Shrimp was cooked nicely. Unfortunetly nothing in the basket had any spices or flavor.

The quality of the food was good, but I almost missed out because of the service. We ordered our food and then I went out to the car while my wife waited on the food. 30 minutes, and several sets of customers later, my wife comes and tells me they never put the order in. She went back in and I followed going to request my money back. They were apologetic and had the order coming out as I was walking in.

OMG indeed!! Finally had a chance to pop in and get some food!! We ordered the half pound of shrimp that comes with 1 corn and 2-3 potatoes. Also had a small gumbo!!! Ive eaten in lots of places in Louisiana for food and this is like eating down the bayou outbout Houma,Louisiana!! Real food,real good! They have my business for life.

So the prices were maybe a dollar more than I would want to pay but all in all it wasnt that bad the food was very good that I had one catfish fillet with four shrimp and they breading on it was thin but crisp and not over oily so they had the temperature right it was a good flavor. Came with french fries which were good and enough and a dinner roll which was good. I came there because of reviews I saw on Google and I will be back!

Have gone twice at different times of the day. Flavor is good. However quality of crawfish & value is terrible. They freeze & over cook the crawfish where peeling is NOT successful. Meat disintergrates. Tons of claws, tailless heads & they do Not purge/clean the poop shoot before boiling. Got the sausage,potato,corn sack. It was 1 piece of sausage,1 potato & 1 half piece of corn for $5. Being from East TX & living in New Orleans for many years got me excited about this place. My experiences have been disappointing. Unfortunately, I do not recommend this place if ur hungry for crawfish.

Fresh out of Alaska, I was excited to see crawfish on the menu. The mud bugs were scooped from some container and delivered right to me so I wasn t confident in their freshness. And I was more than disappointed when I picked up the bag and they were just over room temp. The disappointment continued when I got back to the hotel to find small mushy dark bugs. A clear indication they were not alive. I pulled about 6 out of the bag, ate about 3 and then realized they were really not edible. I m just not that hungry. What a disappointment.
