Unique and awesome collection. Worth the drive from Austin. Great selection of electronic, ambient, and dance music, which many record shops seem to lack completely. Love seeing Alchemy out at the ATX Record Show too!

Great prices. Love the specific categories and the arranged by years setup. Lots of categories you wont see other shops carry. They also take requests for bringing in more of certain categories. Will be making stops by here a lot more often.

This perfect gem of a record store helps me purchase records bc it is so brilliantly indexed and organized. The owner takes the record store idea and flips it on its head. Go see for yourself. Today I walked out with a real Elvis record and a British 1980 s Elvis: a Lloyd Cole record.

I recently purchased a Joe Bob Briggs bobblehead and Tales From The Darkside album as well as a few decorative metal pins (Suspiria, Hellraiser) --- as of May 2023, this is still one of my favorite places to shop. I bought two Temptations records and a Jackson 5 album during my first visit and definitely plan on returning. Their movie soundtrack selection is one of the best Ive seen and I am legitimately impressed that their vintage records go as far back as the 1950s. The staff is super friendly, too. I highly recommend this store to anyone who loves vinyls -- it truly feels like rifling through someones long-lost record collection.

The best record store! I moved to SA but continue to make a trip to San Marcos just stop by Alchemy. Walter always has a great selection at a reasonable price. RSD was so well organized, staff were so nice and loved the free goodies. Had a good first RSD experience!

This company is amazing! I ve been in a few times before, but today was my first record store day with them and they were spectacular!! They ran the show very smoothly and took all the pressure out of perusing an overwhelming amount of rsd exclusives!!! In addition to the manager and customers being knowledgeable and kind, they had an incredible selection of older and new rsd titles. They also gave out free goodies to the people in the line! I would 100% recommend this record store to my friends.

Hands down, this is my favorite place to go when Im out in San Marcos. Every time I stop in I always end up leaving with a pile of vinyl and loads of recommendations for new music, going there has for sure widened my music taste. Give them a visit, you never know exactly what great finds youll score!

Outstanding service, knowledgeable crew, nostalgia for days and days. If you love vinyl, you have to check out Alchemy. If they don t have it, they can get it. Walter is fantastic at what he does. If you have questions, he s got answers. Great recommendations for both new and old musics. I highly recommend this joint. You can t go wrong with Alchemy.

If I were to ever open a record store, then I hope it s half as great as this one. My favorite in the Greater Austin area. You ll find eclectic gems in funky categories, and your personal favorites arranged by year. The latter will have you saying things like, Damn, 2009 was stacked. Happy browsing folks.

Cool little shop, but DO NOT trust the grading on the jacket sleeve. Its like someone showed a record to someone else who took a one second glance from twenty feet away and declared its Very Good PLUS! Make sure to really inspect them, with your own light, so you can see how scratched up that supposed VG+ record actually is. What you thought were decently priced $10 VG+ records turn out to be barely VG- and shouldve been sold as Good for $3.

Alchemy Records is easily one of my favorite spots in San Marcos and a must-see if youre visiting from out of town. Walter is the coolest dude and his record shop selection is more reminiscent of your music friends personal collection than a stereotypical record store. We have found some really unique stuff here from all genres and decades. Also the place doubles as a coffee shop and is super cozy to hang out in. Definitely check it out!

I havent actually been to the store yet but I did meet and bought some vinyl from them at the San Antonio Record Show in Schertz yesterday. The guy at the event was very helpful, courteous, knew what he was talking about and - bottom line, awesome! Cant believe I saw, and of course, bought the Jane Birkin/Serge Gainsbourg LP - what a rare deal! And the remastered Led Zeppelin II LP. Cant wait till I visit their store soon!!

Okay so the owner of Alchemy is an absolute Gem. By far the most helpful and nicest store owner I ve ever had the pleasure of meeting. We shared our love of random soundtracks and geeked out over our love of music. It s been the best vinyl shopping experience.
