I recently visited Casa Maria and loved the vibrant atmosphere. The food was fantastic creamy queso dip and flavorful chicken enchiladas, plus sizzling fajitas. Our waitress, evelyn, provided attentive service and great recommendations. Overall, a must-visit for delicious Tex-Mex!

This place was amazing! Me and my family were visiting the area and stopped here. The food was amazing and truly Authentic mexican food. Jocelyn was our server and she was amazing. We had the Flameado and personally my favorite dish was the chile relleno. My parents loved it as well. Definitely recommend!!

Hosted my wife and Is rehearsal dinner here a few months ago, and was extremely pleased with the entire experience. The staff was communicative and helpful in the planning process, and the price they quoted was very reasonable. They set us up in a great spot, and handled everything in a professional way. We had a great time, the food was good, and the atmosphere was excellent. Would recommend this restaurant to anyone as both a casual night out and a more laid-back spot for a larger get together.

We are usually here at least once a week! Topping the list for one of the best restaurants in San Marcos The queso is delicious, chips are addictive and the wait staff is great. Highly recommend pretty much everything here. The kitchen is able to make decent accommodations for food allergies and/or preferences. If Im not ordering the Green Enchiladas, or the Chicken Tortilla Soup, its fajita time! I tried the Elotes for the first time yesterday and I already want to go back. Casa is a classic go-to that I recommend to anyone and everyone.

The restaurant has a nice presence and the food is pretty good. I ordered the beef fajitas and only got two flour tortillas. I didn t think much of it because one can always request more. Ray told me that I would be charged extra for every tortilla I ordered. I asked him to notice that two tortillas filled to the top doesn t even get you halfway through your ingredients. Ray was short and curt about not caring what I thought about the shortage. Ray made it clear he would fight it out if necessary. So be prepared folks. You may need to bring your own tortillas from home to cover your meal! Ray is not sophisticated enough to manage this restaurant. Buyer beware.

This place is absolutely wonderful! The beef fajitas were succulently tender and full of flavor. Refried beans and rice and homemade tortilla are also fabulous! Stopped in after floating the river in swimsuits with cover ups and felt completely comfortable with the atmosphere. Good sangria and margaritas and service was quick. Visited this restaurant hoping for a good experience and got complete opposite. We waited over 30 minutes to be seated, yet once seated there were several empty tables. I guess they were short staffed. I asked for green salsa and was told I had to pay for it. My kids asked for fajita combo and the chicken was left out! To top it off, we were charged the 20% gratuity because we were a party of 7. There was no way I would have given them a $40 tip for the bad service and bland food.

Visited this place with my college granddaughter and her grandmother. Granddaughter ordered breakfast (11:45) and coffee. She enjoyed it. I ordered the tacos dorados. I was served regular crispy shell tacos, meat had no seasoning, tasted worst than bland ! Embarrassing to serve this! Dorados, are they not supposed to be Fried! I was visiting my college student, this place SUCKED! I ll go to Taco Bell for Mex/latin food. I believe that all of the Mexican restaurants in San Marcos are not sincere in serving quality food. I used to enjoy Casa Maria, but my recent experience was disappointing. We waited 40 minutes for a table, only to see a larger group, who arrived after us, seated first. It felt like the staff prioritized them because they werent Mexican. Its sad to see this kind of preferential treatment. The food was okay, and our waitress was great, but the way the check-in process was handled left a bad taste. Everyone should be treated fairly, regardless of who they are. Maybe the hostess knew the other group, but its no excuse for ignoring customers who have been waiting longer. Casa Maria needs to rethink how they handle seating if they want to keep their loyal customers.

My wife and I had our first meal, a dinner, here for the first time recently. The restaurant facility is very nicely decorated and spacious. The wait staff were very friendly and the service efficient. My wife and I both tried the Chili Relleno with Cheese. It was accompanied with rice and beans. The Chili Relleno was very tasty; stuffed full of cheese. The refried beans and rice were perfect. We opted for the Queso Compuesto Dip appetizer which is comprised of melted cheese, pico de gallo, guacamole and picadillo. It was amazing! My wife couldnt stop eating it. The corn chips are very nice and crispy but tender. I had a Sangria/Margarita Swirl. It was the best I have had in sometime. It had a great taste and was super large! Our service was spot on. Everything was positive about our visit; the service, the food qualilty and taste, and the decor. This will be our go to restaurant when we are wanting Mexican food. Four stars!

Such great food and selection. Love the vibe here. My fave dish is the grilled fish (Caldo de pescado)! Served with fresh tomatoes and avocado. Couple options for toppings. I get the grilled onions and jalapenos plus a side of pico. Fish is fresh and no fishy taste at all! Salsa is delicious and queso is yummy. My son had the chicken and steak fajitas and our friend had enchiladas. Needless to say- no takeout boxes needed as the portions are ideal. They also serve authentic Mexican dishes like mole and tortas. I need to go on the weekend to try the brunch! Monica was our waitress and was very attentive. Tried the stuffed concha for dessert- while the concha was a little dry, we ate the sweet cream and fresh berries along with the chocolate sauce!;) Deliciouso!! One of my fave places in town to eat!

The margaritas here are excellent-- this is coming from someone that doesnt usually like margaritas (we tried the mango, jolly rancher, and guava). Their salsa and queso are also good. The fajitas were okay-- portion was generous for 1 person but they were lacking flavor. Enchiladas, charro and refried beans were delicious. The service was okay. Our waitress wasnt very attentive and it felt like we were waiting a while for her to come back so that we could ask for drink refills after our sodas and water had been empty for a bit. Bakery was excellent!! Overall, restaurant was good and well probably be back if were in the area.

Went to celebrate a birthday. The place is pretty. Service was slow. The menudo looked like it was old, hardly any meat. The enchiladas oaxaquenas were lacking sauce and they were on the sweet side. So we went to have breakfast this morning, our waitress was outstanding. We had an issue with my wife s plate. It comes with potatoes and they not only were cold, they tasted old like they had been sitting there for awhile. We got her attention and asked her to bring us some fresh potatoes. Well shortly after another short skinny little waitress comes up and says if you want new potatoes we have to take your plate so we can replace them if not, we have to charge you for the other potatoes I immediately told her no, that will make the rest of her food cold and also taking it back could cause germs. We told her never mind, we weren t going to be dealing with ignorance. Our original waitress comes back about a minute later and brings us the fresh potatoes. We don t know if this was the kitchens decision to want the plate back or that other waitress idea but it was stupid. If they really wanted the potatoes back, they could have brought another plate and we would have scooped them in there. We didn t touch them and they remained on the plate. I recently dined at Casa Maria, and while the food was generally good, the service left much to be desired. Unfortunately, our experience was marred by the rudeness of our server, Denise. From the moment we sat down, she seemed uninterested and impatient, rushing us through our orders and responding curtly to our questions. When we asked for recommendations, Denises attitude was dismissive, making us feel like an inconvenience rather than valued customers. Throughout the meal, her demeanor didnt improve. She was abrupt and inattentive, which significantly detracted from our enjoyment of the evening. Its a shame that such a lovely restaurant with delicious cuisine is let down by poor service. I hope the management addresses this issue to ensure future patrons have a more pleasant experience.

The place has all youll need. To exceptional food and drinks with a great atmosphere to match. Everything went smooth an the food was quick. I will say we were a big party of 12 and we were pretty much in and out. But we did get their at 3pm. They also have an upper room thats available for rent for more of a private event. They also have a private room that is soooo beautiful an that sits 10 people. Oh theres also a delicious bakery filled with goodies. Love this spot and I always come by when Im in town. I took a weekend trip to San Marcos and stumbled upon this restaurant while roaming through the streets this past Saturday with my parents and enjoyed the delicious dishes being served at this establishment. We ate Sunday brunch at Casa Maria and enjoyed our meal very much. The server was friendly and gave us excellent service. Our food was delicious (a chicken fajita omelet loaded with chicken fajita tenders, vegetables and cheese with side potatoes; and a breakfast enchilada plate for my husband). The atmosphere is pleasant, with upbeat Spanish music playing in the background. I highly recommend Casa Maria; they also cater for customers if requested. Parking: They have several nearby lots available for overflow if needed. Kid-friendliness: The restaurant is very kid friendly, and they have an attached bakery counter that parents can use for a snack for hungry kids while waiting (usually the waits are less than 20 minutes). Wheelchair accessibility: It is wheelchair accessible.

Food was amazing! I ordered a chicken burrito it was amazing, but I couldn t finish the whole thing, so my plan was to take it to-go and have it for lunch the next day. I was with a group of people and I left to go to the bathroom, but I came back a minute later and my $13 burrito was gone, as well as my $7 bowl of queso. I was very disappointed in the service for not asking before they took my expensive food, but i do have a little patience for them because we were in a large group. Overall great food!

Our experience being a first timer where horrible.We asked to be seated outside but they couldnt accomadate us to sit together with our families.Then we ordered appetizers and after 30 minutes of waiting for them they came to tell us that they were out of what we wanted.The waitstaff was friendly but only came to our table to ask us twice if we needed anything the time of taking the order and the time we got our food after that we never saw our waitress until it was time for the bill.The food wasnt all that either the steak my niece ordered was super thin and over cooked it was suppose to be a ribeye but that was no ribeye.None of the food had taste.I dont think we will ever go back.Please do your research before walking in Because looks can be deceiving.Hopefully someone else has a better experience than we did!!!

I rarely post bad reviews, but I feel the need to share my bad experience for others in my situation. We are not locals, but any time we come to or near San Marcos we came here. We visited on 3/29/24 with our service dog (in his carrier, as we try to be mindful of others) and were asked to leave by a young hostess stating service dogs are not allowed. Mind you, we travel often with our service dog and have never experienced this else where. What made matters worse is that she embarrassed me by asking what kind of disability he assisted me with in front of others, instead of privately. Obviously, I did not feel comfortable sharing my medical history and/or disabilities in front of others so we left because no other accommodations were offered. I feel better training for inexperienced staff is needed to handle such sensitive matter. Needless to say, we will not be returning to this establishment and will seek legal guidance as this is was a discriminatory and very unpleasant experience.

We go to eat, we are 5 people. They have many free tables of 5 people or more and they dont want to give us a table because we arrive after other people but they are only couples. They cant give us a big table but ok and for us because they dont give us a table if there are 5 of us and they have large free tables... If there were 2 of us I understand but there are 5 of us.... From Ai onwards the food is good

The margaritas wasn t good, less liquor and extra sweetness. The rice appeared to be soaked in so much oil it wasn t good at all. The beef fajita meat was very hard to chew. I would say the only thing that was good was the churros. Food

We had our family lunch date and we decided to go to Casa Marias. Our waitress Lex was super awesome. My husband is in the restaurant business so he is very nit picky when it comes to going to different restaurants. We both agreed this girls customer service was the best we have ever received.she was great from start to finish. Food was delicious. My daughter is very picky eater and she loved her tacos. We will definitely be back.

I took my mom for Saturday brunch and we were impressed! We loved the atmosphere, the food and the service! Our waitress, Cassie, was so sweet and kind. Afterwards we got a few tasty treats from the bakery! Highly recommend. We are already planning to bring the whole family next time!

This is one of our new top places to go for mexican food. A fun place, well-run, excellent food and top tier bar. Staff are all extremely good at service, friendly and helpful. There is al fresco dining as well as a separate bar. They also have live and DJ music, so call or check the website for more info. Decent amount of parking. They also have holiday and themed events, like Valentines Day.

This place is all hype. The food is really not good. They charge for every single thing like side of onions. The worst thing is the they use the cheapest ingredients for the food. Their tres leches cake is not even real tres leches.. it s just white cake with watered down condensed milk. I m seriously never coming back here. One good thing was the staff they were courteous.

Casa Maria Restaurant & Bakery in San Marcos is a great space for food and drinks for your party, no matter the size. There is plenty of room for everyone. The pastor tacos were delicious and very flavorful. I enjoyed the drinks and queso too. And make sure you save room for some sweets from the bakery.

The atmosphere was beautiful. Our waitress was so nice and very funny. The food was okay. I got beef fajitas and shrimp. The fajitas were tough. I wish they were not as tough. I would have enjoyed it more. My bill was not cheap for a party of six. As we were getting our dessert parents were arguing so we didn t get to enjoy that very much.
