The guy unloading product this afternoon was pretty rude. I didn t realize the shop didn t open till 1 and rather than kindly letting me know, he without glancing at me said not open, we re not open yet. Dont open till 1. I apologized and walked away. Guys at the register and the guy with the extra long fingernails kept touching my 100+$ card they unsleeved, then left it unsleeved while they worked and very nearly placed an ipad on it. Left a disgusting smudge on my dragon sleeve. That card had been unpacked with gloves and placed directly into a double sleeve. Im going to try and sell on TCG player and get 50$ more than they offered, then eat $20 in shipping confirmation and still come out 30$ ahead. But now Im worried Ive got what the heck was on that guys hands all over my previously pristine card. Disgusting and really just fitting the stereotype of people that make the hobby unenjoyable. And their response is hilarious. Ignoring the issue of residue but not denying it, and them leaving the card unsleeved then almost damaging it. Very immature and glad I ve resolved to tell people to go elsewhere when possible. Also TCG Player was the way to go

The Stores online cart didnt work for me. I couldnt pay with my credit card, I even brought my laptop in to the store to try the pay in store option which wouldnt work either. Was trying to order over 300 MTG cards, wound up wasting three and a half hours.

Alpha Strike has a friendly staff and an impressive selection of product! The space is clean and organized making it a fun shopping and browsing experience. I originally came to purchase some deck boxes for EDH and was surprised by the variety of product offerings and prices. The $9.99 price of their BCW prism 100ct deck boxes was better than online retailers after factoring in shipping costs. The location is easily accessible. The bike lane runs directly along their storefront and there are bike racks just around the corner on Cheatham Street. All in all, I enjoyed my experience here and look forward to patronizing this local business in the future.

Their website only lists cards, but I felt pretty confident I could pick up a hex field game mat here. They had the mat AND minis! The minis were especially well priced at about 5 per 2 pack, even buying used on eBay runs nearly double that. This was our second visit and weve picked up YGO boosters to crack each time

This place while small, is full of heart and has a great community backing it. From weekly events to just the every day games, theres always someone willing to try and teach you the game their playing. Other reviews are spoiled by modern customer service expectations of always talking to customers when the majority of their product is in front of their face and priced. Even willing to go through 5 oclock traffic to get there for a couple of games!

First time I walked in theirs a decent amount of staff and great used console and gaming selection I may get a ps4 when I get paided. Also just one thing the staff didnt even say anything to me or ask if I need help finding anything thats the one thing I thought was weird. Im from Austin and the sanctuary card shop south Austin was my spot till I moved here so hope to come to like the alpha strike games next time I come throu maybe play some magic

Me and a friend from out of town stumble into this shop. The guys there were very welcoming and tge store was bigger than what I anticipated. They have different events on different nights. Nice hidden gem in Sam Marcos. Would recomend to stop by and check out the shop.

Great little hobby shop that has mostly card games and collectables. Personally I play the Magic: the Gathering card game and this stores inventory is one of the largest in the area. I drive from Austin to check out their inventory and play some games when I can. Staff are nice and communicative. All trading card singles buy/sell orders are done through their website using the BinderPOS app. The nice thing about this app is that it accurately keeps track of their stock, so I dont have to ask about singles they might not have. Only complaint I have would be to replace the table mats since they are getting a bit grimey.

Great card shop! I only started getting into mtg a few months ago and staff here have always been very helpful in answering my questions about sets and merchandise. I try to stop by a couple times a week and pick up some packs or orders. Orders for singles made late in the day are almost always ready for pickup by open time the next business day. Prices are fair and I am overall satisfied with spending my money here.

The selection and pricing are amazing, I can find MTG packs from the early 2010s for great prices and that alone is worth stopping in. The only issue Ive had might be because Im a femme but the 3x Ive been in, no one in the store has addressed me. No one spoke to me until I had to ask for a couple of packs of cards. They were chatting with their friends or doing stocking behind. The counter and I never got so much as a Welcome in! I took my masc presenting partner in, this week, and they still didnt really talk to us as we entered or shopped around but did finally ask my partner if they could help with anything. Ill still always stop in for the great selection, but if talking shop about cards and decks is something youre interested in, as a femme presenting person, this isnt the place.

Very displeased. The guy at the register who Im assuming was the manager just kept telling customers how behind he was on orders and how he didnt know anything. There was a kid working trying to talk to him about an order and he brushed him off completely. Theres an entire half of the store that just looks completely destroyed too. My son and I dropped in to check it out, the guy at the counter was busy but super nice. We bought Super Monkeyball 2 for the Game Cube. We loved the space! I was working in San Marcos and thought I d check to see if any of the cards I couldn t find in Austin were in stock. Alpha Strike had the cards I was looking for AND some really neat stuff to look at in the case. They got me in and out on my lunch break which was awesome! Had lots of Pokémon cards, magic, and Yugio too. And I also saw lots of DnD dice and kits including manuals although I was looking for a GameCube or some cheap gaming consoles like ps2s but I belive the ps2s were a little too expensive I was thinking for about 50-150 but it was I think about 200 bucks. Although I would give this shop a really good rating for how nice they were with me and my family including the selection of sets they had.

I like people in other reviews didnt get so much as a hello. They did have music playing loudly and were singing along. The who submit a buy list and then pick out cards to get on their website is silly. Ive been to card shops larger than this one who had 1 person working and was able to pull cards or name prices. And they fulfill orders for people who arent there. So that excuse that there is only 2 people there. Ill order from online card stores or drive to San Antonio instead of using this store.

I really want to love this store, as it s my closest game shop. Unfortunately, the things I m most into (painting minis, Star Wars Legion), are just not really stocked here. There is a comically small selection of paints, and when I asked about Legion I was told yeah no one really plays that game so we don t carry much from it. Ouch. Sadly the only thing I usually end up buying is a red bull. If they would step up their paint supply I d spend money here a lot more often.

Some friends and I noticed the shop and decided to drop in as we play various tcgs and collect cards. Staff seemed disinterested in engaging with us and weren t very helpful. Friend asked the price of a card on display and the employee told him to download an app and look it up . Aside from that the store had a decent selection. Wouldn t go spend my money there though. Entering here after looking for a specific book. Stumbled upon an MTG tournament so there was a good amount of people there. While they did not have the book I wanted, everyone was extremely friendly and its easy to tell that the owner cares about the stores appearance. Also fair warning, there is an adorable puppy that walks around as well. All in all walked out with some information on where to look next and the ability to pet one more dog.

I casually play both YGO and MtG and this is an awesome place to get cards, sleeves, and deck boxes! I suspect theyre using something like TCGplayer market prices for their cards but Ive always paid less in their store than an optimized cart on TCGplayer so its always worth it to get them in-store instead if they have it. The prices on their accessories like sleeves and deck boxes are actually equivalent or even better than Amazon or online as well so theres no reason to not support them if they have what you want! You can tell that Yu-Gi-Oh! and Pokemon arent this stores focus, and while they still have an absolutely amazing selection for both games, dont expect the employees to be super knowledgeable about the meta or archetypes for Japanese games. This is not a mark on them at all as they are deeply into MtG, and I couldnt try to imagine keeping up with two metas at the same time. Do your research and create lists for the cards you want beforehand or else it will be a little overwhelming reading all the cards in all of their binders! They do have a meta binder that contains the more stronger and popular archetypes for Yu-Gi-Oh! and that definitely helps cut down on card-hunting time. If youre an MtG player this is your haven! An insane of amount of cards and accessories for the game await you. The employees are extremely knowledgeable about MtG and Ive even popped in just to clear up rulings on some cards for me and friends decks! Of course they sell other card and board games, and even retro video games and consoles as well! If youre nerdy in any kind of way I would definitely recommend stopping by here to check it out, its a unique place that San Marcos is very lucky to have! EDIT: Went to their Wednesday YGO tournament for the first time and had a blast! Really cool people, and tons of trading/selling going on. Again, cant recommend this place enough.

I really enjoyed the selection at Alpha Strike, but the whole time I was in the store, nobody really greeted me or offered to help, though I was looking for a specific miniature, and one of the people working said they didn t carry it after I spent a good amount of time looking for it. I was not helped until I took my purchases to the cash register, and even then it was hard to get attention. It was clear that the owner/manager was there, but even he did not bother to say hello until I was checking out and asked about additional services. I have no reason to come back to this shop. While they do have a decent selection, there was not anything I could not find elsewhere, and without any personal interaction, I did not feel welcomed at all and will not be back.

I really enjoy this place, it is a great resource for table top gamers. This place is not just a store, There is a large area in the back to actually play games and they always have cool and exciting events going on. On the store side, they have a very large selection of merchandise, and when they don t have what you re looking for in stock the employees are always more than happy to order it for you.

Really fun place to hang out you can come and play for free. I wish they would post a small cover charge so we could get some AC in there. Im sure they have one but they dont crank it up to save money and after about five hours you can really feel it. Owners are really nice and friendly.
