Great little local San Marcos spot to swim. There is a tubing shoot area that gets kind of crowded but if you go down the walking trails there is a more secluded entry point. Is our go to point to get into the San Marcos. Dog-friendliness: Dog leashes required but we let ours off and no one seemed to mind them while they played in the water.

The river itself was clean and cold with strong currents on one side - however, there were families and solo bystanders that were smoking weed all around everyone, littering everywhere. Ruined the vibe for us. Toilets: Could be a lot cleaner. Dog-friendliness: There were a few dogs running around - there was a friendly one running loose and enjoying the water. We didnt mind, but I do believe they have to be on-leash. Picnic area: Tables are splintered and unkempt.

It is not that packed, which is a good thing. Water is rouphly 7 feet deep. Overall, if you want to sit on the edge of rocks and relax, this place is ideal.

i feel like this little spot was my home in another life. So adorable and beautiful and cute and tiny and uhhhh i love it i love it love it The cutest little rock s to fish off of and the tiniest but best walk through the woods. I wish I could build a house here honestly. I don t even like rivers or lakes very much but this one takes the cake.

What a beautiful park!!! A great place to taje the entire family. Picnic areas and there is a water hole for every age. From rapids to still shallow water. Toilets: For public park restrooms, these are the cleanest I have ever been in. Dog-friendliness: Leash laws apply, but very dog friendly access. They can swim here too!! Picnic area: Gas grills allowed!! Plenty of tables.

The San Marcos river is an awesome free place For families. There is river access both shallow and deep water. Tubing access and small rapids to ride. There is also a small island that is connected by a bridge that people use to jump in the water. There is plenty of space for everyone! And there are also restrooms, picnic tables and a pool area (pay) for those that prefer a pool experience.. just careful with those rocks in the shallow .

Great place to swim by yourself in peace, clear clear water. Sometimes you ll see deer in the park or You might also catch someone on high wire. When you re driving down Riverside, you might catch a glimpse at this art by a local artist, beauty out of trash.

Nice place to break away from the city close to cold fresh water nearby. Unfortunately the police will have a patrol driving around on ATV and demand to restraint and put leash on dog. Even in the water? That was January..been quieter less people. Super clean!

Absolutely love this park and river area. My family and I have been coming here for a few years, to enjoy the River access and relax for the day. We have brought our kids and dogs who have enjoyed playing in the water. We ve never had issues parking. Lately though, the last two times we have been here, the bathrooms have been disgusting. The men s restroom was closed today and it had also been closed the previous time we were here (summer of 2020 before lock down). That only leaves two stalls to use in the Girls restroom and people leave it so dirty. It seems like they don t maintenance the restrooms often. It s too bad because the park and river are beautiful. I hope the restrooms are maintained better in future.

Nice shaded area with picnic tables. For people who play Pokemon Go there are 15 pokestops nearby and 3 pokegyms. And the 3 tier waterfalls start right across Cheatham street you can float the falls on a innertube to the small bridge after the Cheatham over pass to get back to crook park..

Wonderful park to take your dogs or to go for a swim. It is always clean and beautiful here. You can go tubing, fishing, and picnic if you like. There are also an abundance of trash cans at the publics disposal. Please use them. ^^

First time visiting the park -- went for a local SCA regional al fighter practice. Great space for pursword fighting. Easy-to-access amenities. Lots of space. Would love more parking, but there are walkable lots near enough to mitigate that. Easy access to the river; easy to get to from I-35.
