It s an ok zoo. Some of the animals are rarely out or visible. They had this dinosaur theme for a long time and you could see more of that than actual animals. Glad they finally changed that. The toddler area is pretty nice for smaller children to entertain. I just feel like it s not worth the price unless you go on a discount day or have some sort of coupon.

Unfortunately, not every zoo can have a Harambe. But Kirks DikDik is our Harambe. As long as Mr. Dik remains at the zoo, I will remain a customer. If he so happens to tragically pass, I will await Dik Jr. patiently. There are, of course, many other worthwhile attractions at the zoo. I especially recommend seeing the elephants, because nothing can prepare you for how massive an elephant is in real life, and especially after you realize that people used to hunt them. Another really cool feature is that when you sign up for a pass, the list of titles is the most massive Ive ever seen. I deliberately get mail addressed to Professor MacDonald to flex on my friends who completed their dissertations. Nonetheless, our Dik is a local treasure. A dealbreaker. Some might say a Dikbreaker. If theres no Dik, theres no me. Your move, San Antonio Zoo.

Loved coming here on the weekend as they had so many events going on where you can do fun activities with animals. All the animals and their enclosures seemed well taken care of and happy. The staff are all friendly and ready to answer any questions you have. They have activities that are fun for children and adults to enjoy, definitely recommend trying their little 4D theater as its very fun, educational and interactive. Even though they have cooling stations it still gets really hot and its a lot of walking so I would definitely recommend being prepared by wearing some breathable clothes and light colors as well.

One of the worst zoos Ive seen. Cages were not kept up well. Some were downright filthy, especially the water. Many animals not seen. Most animals that were seen looked uncared for and unhealthy. Some cages empty. Sooo much construction going on. It was a disappointment for sure. And the music was being blasted everywhere. Just wasnt a pleasant experience.

I can honestly say, we saw alot of birds, 1 alligator, bats, BUT not any of the ones you look forward to. My kids were extremely upset, and I felt like we wasted our money on this.

The San Antonio Zoo is an incredible destination for all ages! The animal exhibits are well-maintained, and its clear that the staff takes great care of the animals. There s an impressive variety of species to see, from majestic lions to playful monkeys, all housed in thoughtfully designed enclosures that mimic their natural habitats. The layout of the zoo makes it easy to explore, with plenty of shaded areas, interactive exhibits, and informative signage throughout. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable, and eager to share fun facts about the animals. It s a perfect place for a fun, educational, and family-friendly day out! Highly recommended!

The San Antonio Zoo is always a great experience for my family and me. Every visit is enjoyable, and its clear that a lot of care goes into maintaining the exhibits. They re consistently clean and well-maintained, giving the animals a comfortable and safe environment, and visitors a pleasant experience. The food options are surprisingly good for a zoo, and while they aren t the cheapest, the prices are reasonable considering how much goes into the upkeep of a facility like this. I understand how zoos balance making money with maintaining a high level of care for the animals, so I can t complain too much about it. The same goes for the gift shop it s a bit on the pricey side, but its what youd expect from a place like this. If youre a frequent visitor or love the zoo, I highly recommend getting season tickets. They make visiting so much easier and more cost-effective, especially if you have kids who love to go again and again.

It is one of the best walkable zoo in the US with lots of varieties of animals, reptiles and birds. Very well maintained and nicely done layout. The open parking space gets full early in the morning but there is a free parking space in the zoo parking building near by. It is like 5-7 mins walk from the zoo entrance and the walk back to parking is little steep. The zoo provides option to get experience of feeding the animals and birds in zoo. We loved feeding food to Flamingos and kangaroos. These are at extra cost but worth it if the queue is not long.

I dont know if its because I came here at the wrong time of year, or if there really arent as many interesting things here as I thought. Most of the time I only see aquatic creatures like fish and crocodiles. The lemur family includes various species of storks, birds and some other animals. But large animals such as bears, tigers or lions were never seen. You dont necessarily need to book your tickets in advance as you wont have to wait too long. Also note that the parking lot is very large. So remember where you parked your car or have a GPS for your car, otherwise it will be very difficult to find your car when it gets dark.

This was a fun experience! Definitely not as big as the Dallas or Houston zoos, but still a good experience. We were lucky to visit during their temporary dinosaur exhibit which had multiple dinosaurs scattered around the zoo. The extra passes for the bird feedings and carousel were also a good deal and made our time their more memorable. Theres lots of parking options and cool zones all around the zoo, which in this Texas heat is a really cool feature. Basically tents with misters and cool air where you can do a quick pit stop and cool down as youre walking around looking at the different animals.

We had so much fun. We did all the extra experiences to meet and or feed the animals. None of them felt dangerous to us or the animal. The environment was really cool. My only complaint was the lack of professionalism from a number of the employees. They seem very uninterested in education or human interaction. In one instance we were left alone while feeding Lorys (small colorful birds). I had a bird take interest in my sweat and I couldnt remove it. I had to wait 5 minutes before a different employee happened to walk by to get help. I wasnt hurt, and the bird wasnt hurt but it was a bit tenuous. Id say definitely dont skip it. But dont expect the world.

Visited a zoo recently with a close to a $40 entrance fee (including tax). On hot summer days, it might not be worth it. The zoo is small, with most animals hidden away due to the heat. Spent about an hour walking through. Plenty of birds and reptiles to see, but Ive been to better zoos with more animals on display and where theyre visible on the inside of their enclosures if its hot outside. Be prepared for a long hike uphill to the parking garage at the end of your day, especially if you have a stroller or kids. Consider having someone pick you up at the entrance to save the trek back if youreable to. #ZooReview #SummerDays #FamilyOuting

Great zoo but dogs are allowed and shouldnt be. They barked at the animals and I witnessed 1 dog owner asking his dog if he was gonna get those birds. A group of women, each with a barking dog, video recorded the lemurs vocalizing in response to the perceived threat and one of the women laughed and said Yeah, we know. You dont like our dogs . Not okay. Multiple primates and rodents had bald patches from obvious over grooming and the wild dogs and some cats were pacing or running in repetitive circles. All signs of stress. I hope the zoo considers banning pet dogs. Good stewardship requires responsible action and genuine concern for the zoo animals. They shouldnt be subjected to sustained fear or possible disease because a dog owner is willing to pay the entrance fee.

The natural habitats are good but when it s scorching hot outside, the animals are holed up in their dens. It would be nice to have a glassed in view of the inside of those areas that would not be disturbing to the animals. Visiting in the summer is very limiting as you can only see a few of the outdoor species. The giraffe, flamingo and interactive bird feeding area are well done. Staff is invariably excellent, friendly and helpful. The butterfly area is underwhelming compared to others in Galveston and Houston. I think the Houston zoo is much better.

We bought a city pass and entered and it really is a place that is worth its money. We toured inside for more than 2 hours and it is very big, generally clean and has special cooling areas. Some rooms for animals could be bigger. Some places did not have animals in the rooms but other than that there is a lot of variety and it is very nice. I would definitely recommend stopping by if you come to Dan Antonio.

It really is beautiful, I loved it and it has a cool sound in case you feel very hot. It also has a space with water so you dont get dehydrated, it is clean and the entrance fee in Mexican pesos is about 900 pesos.

It was one of the most exciting events I have experienced since coming to San Antonio! The zoo had animals from all over the world, including bears, monkeys, and bats! I think I had more fun than my two girls that I took with me. Wear comfortable shoes because there is a lot to see and things are spread out. I will definitely visit the zoo again soon.

All tickets must be purchased in advance and online. Went on a weekday with my son and the crowd was low and although hot, like most days in San Antonio, the zoo used water mist in many locations. The animals were mostly out which makes any zoo enjoyable. Come in 2025 for the new primate exhibit!!

Super rude and bad-tempered, he speaks Spanish and I listened to him complain about Americans and he was also rude to us. They should review who they hire

They charge extra for all the good stuff and they have no ticket booth so you have to purchase tickets online which is fine but then they charge you a $5 convenience fee for purchasing online which was not convenient standing in the hot sun trying to purchase tickets online. Nothing about it is convenient they have to pay no employees to sell tickets so they charge me to purchase them online. What a raquet and the convenience fee cost more that the tickets.
