Last night was wonderful and my family are picky eaters. Jeff, the general manager, helped with reservations for 12, very nice and willing to accommodate. Bernice, our waitress, was on point. Beer was cold and mix drinks were fast, to come to the table and tasted great!. The live music just made us all sing to it, while celebrating my Dads 80th Birthday. The food, let me say again, the food was awesome! The chicken pot pie was great with golden crisp topping, the chicken fried chicken was nice and crispy white meat the vegetables were fresh. I had the beef tips and the mushrooms were oh so good. My oldest son had the hamburger with all the mixed meet he said it was so good and large portion, he was too full to finish. My brother had the porterhouse, I had to try and that melted in mouth. We were all so happy with the ambiance, service, food, music...I cant say enough...especially since my dad was smiling the whole night and he made the same observations. Thank you Crockett Tavern! We will definitely be back. Actually, my Mom is also planning to bring the ladies from the Blue Skies of Texas to enjoy this tavern.

Went here just to get our kiddos some food close to our hotel and we were not disappointed!! Its vibe is so historic, the atmosphere made the meal honestly. The service was good, our poor waiter ran a little ragged for the end of his shift, but he was so sweet. The food was good, chicken was a bit dried out and it kinda seemed like our food had been setting there for a minute. The FRIED GREEN TOMATOES where were its at!!If you want that cool western historic vibe this is definitely your place!

Stopped in while downtown for lunch. Atmosphere was great and food was good. Located right next to the Alamo. Parking can be a bit rough. If you plan to stay a while for other attractions finding parking is worth it. I felt the food was tasteful. Service was quick and courteous. Atmosphere was needed with the old west/tex feeling. Parking: Downtown parking. Street and garage. Kid-friendliness: Kids options

My wife and I had the Bisket and bean tacos. Portions were small. Brisket was dry and not a whole lot of flavor. Chips and queso were average. Chips were kinda stale and over cooked. Queso was average and seemed fake. The Pecan pie was average as well. We liked the pecans that were chopped. Location and atmosphere was nice. Restaurant was in an old hotel acoss from the Alamo.

So disappointed. I have been there many times and had a good experience. Went for lunch and got the sampler. Substituted cactus fries for regular fries and was charged $3.95, a small side of ranch for $.95 and a credit card processing fee of $.87. None of those charges were explained in advance. Nothing ruins a meal for me quicker than unexpected charges. For lunch to have $7 to $8 added on with sales tax just left me angry. $30 parking for the first hour on a Wednesday when the lot was nearly empty is just another reason I will NEVER go back. Parking: $30 for the first hour.

Spectacular atmosphere, and delicious food. Walking into the attached hotel is an experience itself. The bar was very cool, drinks were very good and reasonably priced($10/glass of Sangria). Food was bang on! Fried chicken sandwich was juicy and tender, almost falling apart. Chili cheese fries were plentiful, nicely seasoned with salt and complimented by cheese and awesome chili, with just enough spice so anyone can enjoy. There was live music when we were there and it wasn t too loud so you could still have a conversation. Highly recommend stopping here for the history, and stay for a bite to eat! Parking: Parking at the hotel was valet. The valet was around $40-$50/per day, but there is also a free parking lot down the street.

What can I say? The food was OK. Not anything special. However, when it comes to service, I have never been treated politely and rudely at the same time before. We felt the server was definitely rushing us. We had been served pur mains for all of 5 minutes when he asked if we wanted to see the desert menu. He brought one to the table and a few minutes later came back to ask if we wanted desert. We were still not even halfway through our mains. We decided we did not want desert and he proceeded to give us the bill and ask how we were going to pay. When told by card he presented the card machine. I was still eating my main meal! I have never felt so rushed in a restaurant ever!

The drinks were decent and the service was good but the food...not so much. The salad portion of my meal was good but the chicken they served was inedible. I would have been embarrassed if I were them to serve the completely dried out chicken that looked as though it had been cooked days before and left in a fridge uncovered until it was hard as a brick. I actually almost spilled my entire plate when i first tried to stick my fork in the chicken not realizing it was totally dried out and my fork couldnt even penetrate it. This is only the second time in my nearly 40 years of life the food was so bad I had to say something. They did bring me new chicken that was at least better, but it was still extremely overcooked and honestly I just didnt care to eat it. Pictures show the dried out chicken and then the plate of chicken they brought to replace it as a comparison.

What an absolutely disaster this place is. We booked a reservation for ten people for my fathers 73rd birthday. We made reservations weeks in advance. When we arrived they didn t have a table ready and quickly threw 3 tables together, right in front of the stage and band. My one year old daughter has an extreme fear of beards and immediately went hysterical when she saw the guy singing for the evening. We explained to the manager we cannot sit here and noticed a large table in a separate room. We asked if we could move there and they said no because it is reserved . I wonder if that was our original table because nobody sat at it the entire time we were here. Our table was not a reserved table yet they acted like it was. They moved us to the hotel lobby bar seating which had nobody in that area. Our service suffered incredibly because of this. Our waitress was very slow and busy with other tables. She forgot our drinks. She forgot to give us plates and utensils. We ordered two orders of brisket nachos, and it s $6 extra for the brisket on each order and we received no brisket whatsoever. We pointed it out to our waitress and she said she d take it off our bill but nope. It was still there. So it took forever to get that corrected and it was very slow. We asked for plates and utensils from the food runner and they acted like they couldn t help us. How do you eat nachos without plates? My wife asked our waitress four times about getting a drink for our one year old daughter. We had just walked from Scottish rite theater parking in the 120 degree heat. This waitress would not even discuss getting our daughter a drink. My aunt had to run after her to put that order in. When I asked the waitress about it, she was rude and said she already handled it, even though we didn t have drinks for atleast 20 minutes. Getting drink refills seemed like a hassle. Waitress never offered it until after my mother and aunt offered refills and forced the waitress to do it. This waitress just did not want us to order anything. When it was time to order food she said oh you want to order food too? . So I didn t even order any food because of her! Everything was a hassle for her. My father, at his own birthday celebration, did not order any food because the service was so poor. Half the people at our table did not order food. The food we did order and receive was very good, except the appetizer nachos, which were quite literally some of the worst nachos I ve ever seen. We were so very highly disappointed in this restaurant, the service and experience. We learned our lesson and will never ever be back. My father feels so embarrassed having chosen this place for his celebration. Never again. Crockett Tavern should be ashamed of themselves!! Don t be fooled by the fake reviews on here by users with 4 or less total reviews. It s obvious this place has a lot of bogus reviews. Parking: Parking sucks here

We are staying at the hotel and the kids wanted to eat at this restaurant! We felt bad coming 20 minutes before the kitchen closed. The food we ordered was amazing. The kids got the burger and chicken from the kids menu. We shared a fried cactus and nachos. The servings were huge! The waiter was doing double duty of manning the bar and taking care of us, but he was super attentive and friendly. The restaurant also gave a discount for veterans and first responders! Highly recommend to anyone who is in the area to come and eat. Its also themed like Crockett/Western! Kid-friendliness: The kids got crayons and a little kids menu to play Tic-Tac-Toe. The kids menu food was a pretty big serving. They kids enjoyed watching the baseball game on the TV.

The food is fine but nothing extraordinary typical elevated country cooking you ll find all over Texas. The real issue is the prices: $10 for chips and queso, $40 for a ribeye, and $21 for fried shrimp with fries? The service was okay. It was adequate for an average restaurant, but not up to par for the prices they charge. We didn t get silverware and had to ask for it not a big deal to me, but in the context of the prices, it might be a bigger issue for others. The waiter was kind and attentive, so they deserve some praise for that. The atmosphere is good. Think of a bar that doubles as a small restaurant that s the vibe.

Started out on the wrong foot. The menu is VERY outdated! Both of the things I saw online and brought me here, are not offered anymore. When our server tells us that the menu is outdated, that tells me that management doesn t care. Not real happy right now. I had wanted to try the Pecan Crusted Redfish but no, menu is outdated. Plus you have to pay to park, which is a little ridiculous since this place is pretty pricey. Too bad you can t find a way to validate tickets. I m sorry, for all of the good reviews, this girl won t be back. I feel sorry for my husband, who I brought here for Fathers Day. I am just so disappointed in the whole experience. And I really won t be back after finding out that it is a minimum of THIRTY DOLLARS to park!!! I know you have to pay to park downtown, but I also know some places validate parking tickets.

We went in a Monday night, so we didn t need any reservations and were seated immediately, and it was not too crowded. When we arrived, there was some live music playing country music, but it wrapped up by the time our meals arrived. The decor is pretty cool with lots of western memorabilia, Alamo murals, and stuffed wildlife. It s part of the Crockett Hotel, so they seem to take good care of the place. Food came out pretty quick, and service was pleasant. I had the brisket grilled cheese which was great! Definitely worth checking out if you re in San Antonio or visiting the Alamo!

[we wanted something light as it was hot out and we got it.] Nice place. Close to the Alamo Plaza, nicely decorated, good menu, fair prices. I was worried that it was tourist trap but was pleased with what I found. i d change the cactus spears to chips, change the breading a little and add some spice to it. They re an interesting change of pace but a little bland for my taste. I came early (1800 on a Monday night) so i can t tell you what a weekend crowd is like but if you make/keep a reservation you i don t think you d be disappointed.

We were very impressed with the meal and the service. Dietary restrictions: There s some things that I cannot eat, and they did not have any problem with saying they would not put it on my plate.

Our first time in and it was a great experience. Dorothy was our server and she rocked it. We tried the cactus fries and they were good. The queso was alright, but the chips were lacking. We had the Bowie Beast and Crocket burger and both were tasty. The brisket grilled cheese was also a winner. The corn meal fried shrimp were good, but a bit heavy on the cornmeal. We also had a Bourbon Smash and a couple of other house drinks that were delightful. Bottomline, we will definitely go back and most definitely ask for Dorothy!

This tavern is decorated with period pieces and it s pretty cool. The service is attentive and friendly. My friend ordered cactus fries and I ordered smoked brisket nachos. The order of nachos was huge, and I couldn t finish it, even though I was very hungry and I have a huge appetite. They were pretty tasty. The cactus fries were interesting. The flavor was alright, but the breading came off easy, especially when dipped into the accompanying sauce, so it was kinda messy.

I am not a tough person to satisfy at a restaurant but the KITCHEN missed the mark tremendously this time. Let me open by saying the service was top notch and sympathetic to what was going on . Strike 1... we ordered 2 orders of pork ribs and after 10 minutes was told that there was only enough for one order. Knowing that we would get the last order was not appealing so we decided to order other things. Myself and my Cousin ordered the Beast Burger and the only thing i can say good about those burgers was the meat was cooked as requested medium, but thats where it went off the rails, the menu states that the burgers would come with gouda cheese and fried onions, neither of which was on our burgers. We got a over battered under cooked deep fried onion ring and no cheese, thats strike 2! Onward to the chili, the only thing we can say here is tasteless and watery. Last time i checked Chilli was suppossed to have a little zest and thickness of consistancy! That was strike 3! As stated before the server was great and unfortunatley had to apologize for the kitchen which can never be a good thing for a restaurant! Sorry but food missed the mark by a country mile! The service and atmosphere was good. Hope it was an off day for the kitchen and not an ongoing occurance!

We (group of 4) arrived and asked for a table outside. They cleared a large table and asked if they could separate them because another couple arrived ten minutes after us. We said of course. Hostess then separated our tables and gave the couple that arrived well after us utensils, menus, and waters while we still sat there and hadn t been helped. The other couple then got their drink and appetizer and dinner orders taken , we still weren t acknowledged. Finally the couple got drink refills and their appetizer. By this time the waitress had walked past our table 4 times and not once acknowledged us, even with us trying to wave our hands. I finally went inside and told them the situation and they said they were sorry and would be right out to help us and take our order. The waitress came out two more times and still nothing. We finally got up and left. We are all furious we wasted almost an hour when we went out of way to try this restaurant and were treated with service this poorly

Based on the generally very good reviews I can only assume that this bar is very variable. On the night that we visited the music was ok, we were drinking beer so there was little to go wrong with that, and the service was excellent from the bartender. We did order food but that was really a let down. Chips and queso had slightly stale and very greasy chips, and the queso was thin and had no spice and generally little flavor. The burger was also really not great and we left almost all of it. The lady tending bar was great, which was the only highlight. Wouldnt go back here, and we certainly felt pretty misled by the generally positive reviews

Our server (Im thinking he was new) was def confused a lot, restaurant wasnt busy, and we had to ask for things several times over. We ordered queso and chips, the chips were thin, greasy and tasted fishy. The queso itself was good, but was missing the charred green tomato salsa and when I asked about it (twice) it was brought out and dumped on top Of the cheese. I had a Bloody Mary, but had to send it back because it came out as a bloody Maria, which I totally would have drank, but the waiter took it away and came back a few mins later with the Bloody Mary, which was watery and not super tasty. Overall Id give the live entertainer the most stars! He was great picking his guitar and even took requests and sang HBD to our friend. I also had to ask several times for the speakers outside to be turned off so we could hear the guitar player. Why? Common sense would say to be courteous to the artist and turn it off before he starts! Would recommend skipping this place. The inside decor was nice though.

I made a reservation last Friday at 5pm for my anniversary with my boyfriend while we were visiting San Antonio. I had to hunt down a hostess to be seated. The staff was all over the place and running around like chickens with their heads cut off. It was really disorganized and disappointing. It didnt seem like anyone was assigned specific sections inside so none of the servers knew which tables were theirs. It also seemed like they had staffed more bartenders than servers for the evening. No one checked on us for like 10 minutes after we were seated and they werent even that busy, it was about 25% full or less counting all patio and indoor seating. Once we were finally served, Jacob our server was great and brought us our drinks and food promptly. We only got chips and queso and a drink each because I had made the reservation due to figuring it was food my bf would prefer, and we had other plans that evening and we were worried that due to the chaos, ordering more would take too long. Not one time was our anniversary mentioned, and I put it on the note section on our reservation. I dont usually write bad reviews, and Ive worked as a server before so I understand when someone could be having an off day, but this was probably the worst restaurant experience Ive ever had. They just opened not too long ago, so hopefully it was just an off day and they get it together.
