Absolutely stunning. I am surprised that this is a free exhibit. Our family loves this. It is a must for anybody living in the area as I believe it s switches to a different country. Every 10 years definitely a family atmosphere. The beauty of how they actually do this is Incredible. The cathedral itself is unbelievable, rich in history and architectural design. You will not leave disappointed 20 minutes of really great interaction, music and of course visual light show

The light show was phenomenal, however there was an amateur photographer taking photos with a large flash pointed towards the entire audience. They were asked by multiple attendees to please stop flashing the light and were not cooperative. This really prevented everyone from enjoying the show to its full potential, which is really unfortunate for those who were there!

Great experience the Saga is free and runs from 9 -10 every night but Monday. We attended on a Tuesday which was not too crowded. There is a nice park with some seats available to enjoy but get there early if you want to use those. We spent time over by Pinkertons playing singo and waiting for the show then walked over around 10 minutes before.

As the evening sun dipped below the horizon, I found myself standing in the vicinity of San Fernando Cathedral, eagerly anticipating the daily Video Projection Mapping show known as San Antonio | The Saga. The premise was simple: a visual narrative meant to summarize the history of San Antonio. However, my expectations were met with mixed results. Firstly, the decision not to completely dim the lights in the adjacent Plaza de Las Islas Canarias puzzled me. With ambient light still filtering through, it was challenging to fully appreciate the spectacle unfolding on the cathedral s facade. Perhaps a darker setting would have enhanced the overall experience. But the real disappointment lay in the show itself. If you possessed even a rudimentary understanding of San Antonio s historical events, you could decipher the general theme of the visual reconstruction. However, for those uninitiated, it felt akin to watching a children s performance like a Teletubbies episode where random images were projected without clear context. Having witnessed similar installations elsewhere, I couldn t help but think that The Saga missed the mark. Despite these shortcomings, there s a silver lining: it s free. So, one can t complain too much. But with a little more thoughtfulness and coherence, this could have been an exceptional experience.

This is a review for the show, not the Cathedral. The show seems to be produced by filmography students that haven t learned about show time. It s the longest free light show I have seen around the world by a wide margin at 23 minutes and the graphics are extremely messy, like a 20 lines 8 colors PowerPoint slide. There are people clapping at the end but I honestly doubt anyone gets more than 2 minutes of the whole 23 minutes

The Saga is a must see light show that is played on the front of the San Fernando Cathedral in the plaza and has music to it. The Saga tells a great story about the church and the history of Texas. The plaza square is a large area that has a few tables with chairs that are chained down to sit at any time and are most popular for the light show. The plaza area is also always very clean and usually quiet. The light show can be seen Tuesday through Sunday at 9pm and 930pm. I would definitely recommend seeing The Saga and I would go again when in San Antonio.

Not only is the show very confusing to people with not much knowledge of history of Texas, but it is also a very poor application of the 3D projection technology. They are basically just using the church facade as a big flat projection screen, thus making a lot of the images very distorted and not clear to see. Also, because of the all the construction around, you have to park further away (unless you are willing to pay $20+ at garages for a 20-minute show) and walk past some very shady area.

Pretty show, definitely something cool to do. A big issue is that the public restroom nearby closes at like 7 so if you need to use the bathroom from then to the time it starts at 9 you are out of luck. I had to walk a mile trying every store, only to be turned away through dark sketchy areas, smelling of pee, until finally some nice hotel staff let me use the hotels. But I had to beg. I went on Sunday so a lot of places closed early. But they didnt have public restrooms to begin with. Theres also a mini bar truck right behind the seating area for the show. And the public bathroom is 20 feet away. But its closed. Wheres the sense in that? No wonder the streets smell of pee.

I am posting this with a one star to hopefully get the attention of whoever runs the sagassocial media on Google, etc. There needs to be a broader spectrum on allowing visitors and locals alike if there are technical difficulties with the show, stating that it will not be playing. We walked up to view this, the sign posted saying that the saga had technical difficulties and would not be showing tonight was put so far off to the right of the beaten path and in the dark that the only reason I saw it was because I was looking to see if there was something on there providing more information with watching it. A very unfortunate and preventable situation, knowing that there were others there, this was their last night in town to watch it, and are now going home not having this experience.

It pains homage to the history of San Antonio, Texas as a whole, and its Mexican heritage. It is a free event. Even kids will enjoy seeing all of the beautiful lights displayed on the already beautiful cathedral. There is some seating provided in the park in front of the cathedral, but there is lots of open space for sitting on the ground or bringing your own lawn chair.
