My absolute favorite Saltgrass is the one in Leon Valley, but occasionally the drive to get there is a bit much and that s when we find our way down on Riverwalk. The fact that we re on Riverwalk needs to be taken into account. The area is demanding on servers and those who run these restaurants. You ve got a very high traffic area and you re feeding a lot of people in a very short amount of time. Which is why I gave 5 stars for the service. Josh and his team showed kindness and attentiveness even while underneath you could see overworked souls. Why do I say overworked? Because I honestly didn t see that many people on staff even though we were there right at dinner time. That becomes a corporate payroll issue and not a reflection of the staff on hand. Trying to cut costs by having less people on shift is never a good idea, especially for a location as iconic as Riverwalk. Thats also how you end up with turnover and newly trained staff. So again, can t blame that on the servers. I think that if Landry s focused on employee retention that this location would do much better. It s not enough that you make money just because you re in a prime location. Be impeccable because you re a good company to work for. Have standards that trickle down to the people I will actually see when I spend my hard earned money in your establishment. Oh, and the chicken tortilla soup was trash. I also noticed that the portions of sides and toppings such as the Oscar topping has decreased. I maybe got 1/4 cup of Oscar topping for $13. Not even worth it. Paid $4 extra to get a wedge salad with (I counted) 10 small cubes of tomatoes and 4 thin slices of red onion. A drizzle of dressing on a wedge of iceberg lettuce that cost y all .25 does not justify the small portions or the markup for the alternate salad option. Again a corporate decision and not a reflection on the staff.

We went for a birthday dinner party of 9 and I m so disappointed 5 out of 9 meals were dry , 1 steak was wrong and it happened to be the birthday meal . Best food was queso, chips, onion rings, bread . The handrails going downstairs were filthy sticky. Not worth the $$$

I compared prices for other restaurants in the Riverwalk area and this is by far one of the best deals for your buck! Reasonably priced and great service. Im a local and know that prices in this tourist attraction are high because businesses cater to tourists. This Saltgrass location is fair at keeping their prices in line with other locations. The food was delicious. The only reason I deducted a star is because the steel plate my burger was served on wobbled and the broccoli was a bit scattered.

My friend and I came (party of 2) to the Riverwalk and the hostess at the front at 7:30pm was very rude. I showed my Landrys select card and was told the same wait time as everyone else, when I asked to confirm if the seating policy for select changed she said the manager told her that was the club members policy. We were quoted 45 minutes, we decided to eat elsewhere because of how rude she was and received a text our table was in fact ready in less than 15 minutes. Ive cone to this location often and never felt the service was as rude as this hostess.

The place was super clean I have no complaints. The food was delicious but I ordered my steak medium rare as did my husband and mine was super rare and his was cooked perfectly. The service was amazing up to the point when we tried to leave I thought it was like all the bars where you could take your drink to go and the server stopped me quietly and explained that i had to drink it before I left, I didn t have an issue but then she kind of got louder not yelling but talking loudly and was like you can purchase the glass but you have drink it. I understood when she first explained it and kind of made me feel like I was trying to steal it i dont know. But I immediately called my husband cause he was in front of me a left he didn t even know I got stopped because she literally got in front of me when leaving. She just embarrassed me. But then she goes to the host booth and starts whispering to them and they look over at me and I was getting mad at this point like you already embarrassed me don t be trying to publicly shame me too. My husband comes back and we sit outside on the patio drink the drinks and leave. We did have drinks at the bar before eating at our table and the bar experience was way better.

I dont leave bad reviews often, but this is one of them. Ive been eating Saltgrass since the late 90s when I was a kid. This is the first time Ive left one disappointed and frankly, pissed off. The only thing anyone at the table liked was a kids meal cheese pizza. My girlfriends steak was way overcooked, like beyond well done and was like shoe leather. Her grilled shrimp had an antiseptic taste that Ive never tasted on food before. I ordered a sirloin with Oscar Topping. When the food finally came out, my steak did not include the oscar topping. Absolutely no excuse for missing that. I told the waiter, and he apologized and said theyd get that right out. Almost 10 mins passed, and my steak was already cold when the oscar topping came out. However, the oscar topping was missing the red pepper flakes, green onions, capers, and lemon butter. They literally brought three pieces of fried asparagus and a metal cup with lump crab meat in juice. He proceeded to pour it on my steak. When I took a bite, the lumb crab meat was refrigerator temp except for the very top of what was in the metal container. So cold steak, cold oscar topping, and missing 80% of the ingredients. The range rattlers appetizer, salads, and bread were good, though. Then the real treat at the end was getting our check for nearly $200 for three steaks, two burgers, and a cheese pizza. No one finished their food except for the pizza because the food was honestly gross. Not mediocre or cooked poorly, just gross. They did take off one steak with shrimp but added a mandatory gratuity to the check. Quite literally the worst $200 Ive ever spent. After nearly 30 years of going to saltgrass, this was my last time.

WOW. Excellent service and excellent food! We were a party of 9 and each of us were extremely pleased and impressed with the food. I noticed our server to be very attentive, thorough and fast. He was great. The filet mignon was delicious! Ceasar and house salads were good. Delicious sides: mashed potatoes, broccoli, herb rice, loaded baked potato. All of our plates were CLEAN at the end of our dining experience!

Came for our daughter s 16th birthday. From the start we were treated rudely. Hostess was mad my wife brought in a drink from our river boat tour. We had no idea. Our waiter seemed upset we were there. I asked him if we did something and he said no but continued to be put out. My wife asked if he could put a topper on my daughters cake we ordered, he just said yeah, hope I don t forget then threw the decoration on the counter. My daughter asked for a strawberry lemonade and we had to ask twice for it. The food was good. Waiter delivered check and we never saw him again. I still tipped 20% but was upset on such a special occasion. The waiter seemed so upset that he was there. I asked the manager for a plate and he just looked at me until somebody walking by said they d get it. Good food very bad service. We bought bar drinks, appetizers, main dishes and desert. Never complained or difficult customers. Just curious why the treatment.

I m not sure if it s the location, the group of tourists that flow in from the riverwalk, or something else. But the food, drinks and overall experience could be better found at Applebees. My center cut filet was severely under cooked. Our alcoholic drinks were watered down. The diet cokes we ordered did not taste like DC. This restaurant operates at a fast pace to service as many people as possible without caring for the quality of their food. There are better places. Do not waste your breath eating here.

Having been to several Saltgrass locations, Ive become somewhat of a connoisseur. I know...my life couldnt be better. This location has some of the best service Ive had at a Landrys location. Our waiter was fantastic and on top of everything. The food, though, was not as good as non-tourist locations. My chicken fried chicken was way overcooked, and my baked potato was just mashed potatoes in a skillet with baked potato fixings on top. Also, they have a streamlined menu, so some of their normal offerings cannot be found here. All in all, though, a pretty solid Saltgrass experience.

I was on the Riverwalk for business and stumbled upon Saltgrass. We were greeted by Ms. K who gave us an amazing table right on the river and kicked on the fan for us to beat the heat. She went above and beyond to check on us a few times during our dinner to make sure Anton, our server, was taking care of us. 2nd best ribeye Ive ever had! The seasoning and butter on top was life changing! So much flavor. The flash fried green beans were also fantastic - crispy and perfect amount of salt. My husband ordered the wagyu and we werent impressed with it... lots of chewy pieces. Stick with the ribeye! Decor was western inspired. A little old and dusty but dim-lit and cozy. Our server did a great job and was very attentive. Love that the location was right on the river walk. We will be back next time!

One of the famous steakhouses on the riverwalk. Friendly waiter, and they offer military discounts. From steaks to salad, I thought it was a good and quality entry. I ordered their onion fries, but it was a bit smaller and skinny size compared to other restaurants. They didnt bring me a steak sauce, and they do not have in-house cause, but the meat was enough salty for consumption. Recommended when you visit the SA riverwalk.

Saltgrass is a good restaurant, this one is no different. This is probably our 6th different saltgrass we have been too. They are all pretty similar as far as decor and atmosphere go. The food is good, my steak was cooked perfectly and it was actually about an inch thick ribeye (pats, 16oz), my wifes shrimp were well cooked and she enjoyed the sangria margarita swirl. Our waiter was great and professional.

I highly recommend this restaurant! The food is exceptionally delicious and the staff is very accommodating to the customers. We had great service by Mark M. and we were checked upon appropriately. Mark M. was very helpful with recommendations for our first time here. The food was mouth-watering and very appetizing! With many options to choose from this is a great place to stop at and enjoy the enchanting view of the riverwalk. They offer many appealing choices of food to offer. My personal favorites were the potato soup and the chicken fried chicken! They were very helpful with my quest to find brown gravy and offered a delicious cognac sauce! The signature bread that is served with an exquisite butter was also very scrumptious. Overall, we were all tremendously happy with our meals and will definitely recommend to friends who are coming later in the year!

Racists...With tables available, they told us that we had to wait between 30 and 40 minutes for a table. In the time we waited we saw how they gave the same response to a Latin couple, while they immediately gave a table to an obviously American group. After 20 minutes of waiting, and still with tables available, they told us that the time had increased by 30 more minutes, so we left. It was clear that because we were Latino they did not want to serve us.

I usually like coming here to this location. But today.... It was one of the worst dining experiences Ive had in a very very long time. Ordered a margarita, and a long, stringy hair was in it. Pulled it out, asked for a replacement, and it came out mixed together in a new glass. Ive been in food service - I know what they did. No bread and butter served. And no explanation as to why. A dead fly in my water. Steak requested medium, but was tremendously undercooked. Potatoes came out cold - like they were in the refrigerator. Server was nowhere to be seen for long amounts of time. And when he was there, forgot many of the requests made at the table (i.e. refill of water) After everything, no apology, no comp, no discount, no nothing from anyone. I paid the bill, tipped nicely, and wrote that off as the ABSOLUTE LAST TIME I will ever go there.

Ive been to SA many times but our first time visiting this Saltgrass location. It started off well. We sat out on the patio. The view was beautiful, and the weather was great. We were hungry and ready to eat, so the waiter politely took our drink and food order. Things went south after this. The bread took 20 minutes to come out. My baked potato soup came out with chunks of bacon fat rather than potato. I made the waiter aware of this, and he took it back and brought a new one. The second bowl wasnt any better, but I was starving and continued to eat it. Our bread finally comes out, and we start eating it. About 20 minutes goes by, and our main meal is brought out. Immediately, I noticed that the blood from the steak on the plate is almost fully cooked because it wasnt red it was brown and stuck to the plate rather than runny. I take my fork to dig into the masked potatoes, and it flakes up in three pieces. I took my knife and attempted to cut into the steak but wasnt able to. The piece of meat was tough and hard on the sides. The waiter comes by, and I show him what the issue is, and he gave me a grossed out look, so he took the plate away. I believe that the plate of food was sitting under a heat lamp for way too long, and the food basically cooked on the plate. It was disgusting. Im never going back. Worst money ever spent.

The only saltgrass I have had problems with!!! The food was raw even though we ordered it ended up being well done for all the dishes. They took the raw food and after 15 minutes 3/4 of it came back. Until then the bad experience was bearable. The worst of all would come at the end, leaving the restaurant, next to the bathroom, there were some lumps of potatoes and once my family came out of the bathroom they saw cockroaches in the potato, just thinking about it made my stomach upset all day... The service was good but I wouldnt go back even for free food...Ill go back to the ones in Houston that I usually frequent and everything has been fabulous...

I never share negative feedback like this but for this occasion might be worth it. The Salad is a non-washed cut of lettuce with improper cutting of the tomatoes (chunks). Check the picture. We ordered a T-Bone and we got a mini cut of meat (more or less 8 oz) that by obvious reasons was not a 40$ T-Bone. They insisted that is a T-Bone (an obvious lie). We left disappointed and hopefully, others wont have the same experience.

Watch out for the host named Karen. She will try to ruin your night. Disappointing... I was visiting San Antonio for the first time yesterday, wanted to try a Texas t-bone at Saltgrass. When I got in, she asked me if this was party for one. English is not my first language, so I didnt know what she meant. I asked what party for one means and she started repeating questions ARE YOU BY YOURSELF? ARE YOU ONE PERSON? IS THIS A TABLE FOR ONE PERSON? IT IS ONLY YOU RIGHT? in a tone that was not kind at all. Made me feel like I was stupid, I felt humiliated for not understanding. I was not expecting a reaction like that, because nobody else treated me this way since I came to the country. I was shocked, I couldnt say anything. I know that its a busy night and everybody is trying to do their job, so I understand that they were stressed out. But I also know that this shouldnt be the way how costumers should be treated, especially at Saltgrass which I know is one of the best. I was certain about leaving the place as soon as possible, I didnt feel welcome at all. I felt like a total stranger all of a sudden. My eyes uncontrollably started tearing up. But then I saw Alex, another host, smiling at me and asking where I wanted to sit... This made me smile as well and I wanted to give it a try. The servers (Ki and Joshua) were so kind, friendly, and so helpful that they flipped my experience the other way. I felt taken care of, enjoyed my food, and laughed. I am grateful for their good hearts, and their true understanding of what good customer service really is. I have to give one star and it goes to Alex, Ki and Joshua.

Salt Grass is one of our favorite Steak house restaurants, but NOT the one at the River walk. To make it short, the waitress was awful. It looks like he was having a terrible day and taking on us. Been a long while since I ve been to San Antonio, let alone eating on riverwalk. Riverwalk has definitely changed for the worse however don t let that discourage your from trying saltgrass on the river! Upon entering, the restaurant was not super busy as we were able to be seated rather quickly for a group of 8. There was good music playing and the atmosphere was lively!! Our servers name (started with a j, I believe it was Josh or John, not sure) was Fantastic!! He was very attentive and very respectful!! He made sure everything was to perfection, and did one hell of a job!! Wish I would ve remembered his name or at least done this review right after! When it came to the food, the food was amazing and full of flavor! The food was cooked to perfection and didn t disappoint. I tried the red fish and it was amazing!! My wife tried a steak and it was juicy and full of flavor too!! I definitely recommend giving it a shot!!! Parking: Due to the restaurant being in downtown and on the riverwalk, parking was a hassle to find. Had to also pay for parking which can range from 20-45 dollars depending on where you park.

I had a fantastic experience at Saltgrass Riverwalk! Despite the nearby paid parking, I didnt wait at all for a table since I came alone to celebrate Fathers Day and was seated at the bar immediately. The T-bone steak was delicious, perfectly complemented by the broccoli and a fresh Caesar salad. I also enjoyed a well-crafted Old Fashioned drink. Highly recommend for great food and quick service!

First time at the Saltgrass and it s a really good place to eat. You have options in where to eat, inside ( 2 floors) or outside as well. When I say that the food has massive portions they really do! Man I was impressed with my plate being that huge, and the amount of food. Started with a Caesar Salad which was awesome, and then proceeded with my Chicken Fried Stake! Would recommend to those that are HUNGRY! Lucky we dine in when there was very few people but be on the look out on those holidays!

Dinner on the Riverwalk. Had the Cajun ribeye, steak was tender and the Cajun/Creole topping was delicious with shrimp and crab . Had a loaded baked potato and a Knob Creek old fashioned to start which was a generous pour. Had a bottle of Alexander Valley Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon with the meal...it was only $43 a bottle...in a restaurant!! Great deal. As we were celebrating my daughter s graduation, we decided to eat here. Our party was a whooping 25 top. Above arrival, the temperature was extremely HOT! So about 5 pm guest were arriving but reservation was till 5:30. I had a couple minutes to put table covers and add some decor. As everyone proceeded to their seats Anton and Joshua, I believe were our servers, they were great. Everything came out on time and all together. Tho the most IMPORTANT part and my whole party was feeling it, the AC was not working properly! The entire time that we were there we were all SWEATING! It was disgustingly HOT! I asked Ms. Kay, what was wrong with the AC and she underhandedly avoided my question saying that well it is Texas ! Obviously I know what state I m living in I was extremely upset, even tho I did not show it, it made us all not quit enjoy the moment. Ms. Kay mentioned about getting us a fan, but that it would not arrive on time. As per her, management is aware of the problem. I seriously felt that my guests and I were cheated out from properly enjoying the moment and for what I paid, $ 992.00. And I was not offered a discount for the inconvenience that was not my problem but we all 25 guests suffered. I had guest leave early due to the unbearable heat. My father who is a diabetic was not feeling well. My niece who is 2 yrs old was fussy the whole time. Unfortunately that is part of hospitality making sure the guest are comfortable and we clearly were NOT!! And no one seemed to care enough to make it right. I will not ever go to that location (downtown) on Presa St ..

What a bad experience we just had in this place, When we arrived and placed our order, I stained my skirt with a piece of gum that was stuck under the table. The waitress saw what happened and called the manager, Venicio Lopez When he arrived he acted very haughty instead of trying to help me, he started telling us that he wouldnt give me money for my clothes, which I didnt ask for, that he would not cover the check for our table, like if we were asking for it!
