Great breakfast Had a poor experience at dinner, scallops unevenly cooked, burnt on one side, undercooked on the other, rubbery in the middle. My dinner companion sent theirs back to finish cooking. They didnt make it back before the dessert got to the table, and the server asked, Do you still want the scallops, or are you over it?

Enjoyed a bouron at the bar while waiting for a friend. $22 for a Weller 12 (2oz pour) seems a bit high but not crazy. They had both Blantons, and George t stagg (I think 140-150$ per pour). What was a bit weird was the number of staff pacing around. Counter was kind of sticky. Bartender was nice

We stayed at the Mokara Hotel recently for a family wedding. After strolling up and down the Riverwalk, we quickly realized that Ostra seemed to have the best menu and higher-end atmosphere. We were taken care of by Jorge. He was one of the most fantastic and hard-working waiters we have ever had. Jorge treated us like family and made our experience of fine dining even more exceptional. In fact, he was so great that we came back to eat several more times while in San Antonio. Customer service and attention to this caliber are hard to come by these days. We are so thankful Jorge waited on us and restored our faith in good service. Thank you, Jorge!

While on the RiverWalk, my husband and I were taken by the beautiful Cobalt Blue glassware and accessories on the outside tables and went in to find another breathtaking atmosphere! The food was fabulous, as I am Vegan and my husband is picky, both Spice and Presentation means a lot to me! We were greeted by wonderful wait staff and the manager Kim, who gave us an Anniversary/Birthday dessert on the house! My husband enjoyed it, he ate the whole thing! I highly recommend this restaurant! Vegetarian options: My husband enjoyed his meal as he s more on the vegetarian side

Had a taste for oysters and walked into this place! Good choice because everything was delicious. We order calamari, hot peppers, crab cake, and drinks ! The crab cakes is a MUST order very very tasty . Be prepared to spend $$$ but its worth the service, our server Jorge was the nicest ! Recommend this place for date night .

I had a wonderful experience as Ostra! I am vegetarian and came during Saturday brunch timing. I asked the server if they could help me with a vegetarian burger. Chef Emilio personally came out and asked us our dietary preferences. He made a fantastic mushroom burger with black garlic aioli! One of the best burgers I have ever had! A big thank you to him!

Omg . This was a crazy good surprise !!! FINE dining. Must try steak and lobster also oven baked bone marrow - geez excellent 360 degrees !!! Stellar service, consistency and very relaxing atmosphere. Not the typical Riverwalk experience. My husband and I came here on the night we got married and finally made it back for our 6th wedding anniversary. Everyone was so accommodating, gave us a couple complimentary items for our anniversary, and even a card. The service was excellent; our server Yanis was very kind and competent, and several people checked on us throughout the meal. Everything we had was delicious.

We had an amazing service experience here with our server Jorge - this is not a family/kids first restaurant but we had our toddler with us and they were so great in helping us take care of him and keep him happy. Great spot near the River Walk for drinks and appetizers. We tried out some Aperol spritzes and fried calamari, which were both excellent. What stood out even more than the food and drink though, was the customer service. We were told by the hostess that technically, outdoor seating is reserved for those eating heavier meals. However, because we were waiting on some members of our party to return from a boat tour and wanted to be attentive and aware of their return, she kindly offered to let us sit outside. Additionally, with the Texas heat, she also offered to turn on the misters for us per our request. The owner also came out to speak with us, which made the whole experience even more personal. I can t wait to return here and experience their hotel and spa. If their restaurant service is already this great, I m sure they will be top-notch too.

I came in for lunch and although I was looking for something else the staff greeted me immediately and were friendly and made great suggestions! Jorge in particular was PHENOMENAL! He made great recommendations for food and drinks, and definitely sold me on staying! I never leave reviews but, it was definitely worthy of one. We ended up at Ostra by coincidence. Setting off the restaurant is nice and elegant. I started with Caesar Salad with a sprinkle of cheese and sardine. For my taste the salad was a little dry and my lettuce was bitter. I would recommend to add some dressing and possibly a little more vegetables. I can t say the same about my next dish called Ora King Salmon , was absolutely delicious. Salmon was crispy and included parsnip purée, baby bok choy, chimichurri and papadum crackers. Absolutely recommend it if you re a salmon lover. Dessert included Key Lime Pie , not my favorite but it was good.

Absolutely five stars all the way around! First of all the patio is a beautiful place to dine. The prettiest place on the entire Riverwalk. The food is exceptional. My husband and I celebrated our 38th wedding anniversary here and we love coming here each year and having breakfast on the patio. I am vegetarian and my choices were wonderful! We were greeted by Taylor immediately and given a beautiful table. Our server Destiny, was lovely, did a beautiful job. Cherish is the morning manager, and we were treated like royalty by her! My biggest prop is going to go out to Karim!!, Chef and Cook here this morning. The food was exquisite and presented beautifully! Vegetarian options: I selected both the oatmeal and the avocado toast. I also had a beautiful bowl of fruit! Both are my very favorite things to eat and I felt very accommodated!!.

Being from the north, the heat and humidity was getting to us so we stopped in on a Saturday morning to get into AC and get ice tea. The menu looked good so we ordered brunch and it was wonderful. Servers were accommodating to our 8 month old grandson too. I have had dinner at Ostra once before while at a conference and that was good too. Nice contemporary interiors too. I strongly recommend going here.

This is recommended to us as a fantastic restaurant I had the vegetarian needed seasoning had no seasoning whatsoever. It was very bland. Nothing that my husband would eat so he got the I believe the shrimp grilled and then he said it wasn t anything to brag about no seasoning on it very bland . Vegetarian options: They had a few vegetarian options. I chose the cauliflower steak, which was very bland no seasoning. Nothing to make it pop and I am a chef. The vegetables were too greasy with no flavor.

Jack and I love to stay at the Mokara SA. We visit this hotel at least 8-10 times through out the year. We really enjoy the convenience of having the best restaurant in town, Ostra restaurant. We had a great experience. Our server Yanis was great, friendly, professional and provided excellent service. The manager Ed also checked on us which was really delightful. He gave us a lot of good information about the restaurant and as locals we love knowing what is around. The food was excellent and the atmosphere was great for date night. We loved the menu was most excellent. It has a lot of choices without being overwhelming. We had the mussels and the bone marrow both delicious and worth ordering again. We ended with espresso martinis which were a great dessert for us to end the experience one. We will 100% come back again. We were also informed that they will validate parking for the hotel they are located near so makes it even more convenient to visit.

This was our first time to Ostra and we just have to say the drinks & food were fast and fantastic. BUT to one up it Janis was amazing! He was our server! We were new to the area and were not familiar with San Antonio and he did his research and recommended dessert, walks, views and more! If I were you I would ask for him and DEFINITELY order a drink, Ostra cocktails are fantastic. The host, manager and server ensured our entire visit was perfect. Never have I felt so uncomfortable and unwelcome: Family was visiting from overseas for the eclipse, we called ahead to ask if they had ceviche for lunch and they confirmed that yes indeed they do have ceviche. Upon arrival, we asked the hostess for a table for four, there were a total of 5 occupied tables in the entire restaurant (including both outdoor and indoor) and she asked if we had a reservation. When we said we dont, she said it was a 25 minute wait. Not only did she not offer us to wait at the bar in the air conditioning, after the 25 minute wait and no change in occupancy, we were finally seated inside as one of 2 tables. After commenting on this arbitrary waiting period as punishment for not having made a reservation despite there being over 30 empty tables, we were given an excuse that they only had one server... As 4 servers were walking around at that very moment. After my family made it very clear amongst ourselves that they were never coming back next time they come to town, we ordered, and tried to discuss the day so far. Unfortunately, after a few minutes the waiter comes to tell us theres no ceviche. This was the straw that broke the camels back. So we told the server to cancel our order and well be leaving. The manager made a feeble attempt to make an appearance on our way out but even then he barely uttered a word. Should have saved ourselves all this time and stress going to a local mom n pop restaurant. We were seated immediately somewhere far more welcoming, and enjoyed our food at the other restaurant so much we ordered leftovers to go! Treat people with respect.

High prices and small portions with extremely slow service. We ordered items and had to wait thirty minutes for them to tell us that the items on the menu were not in stock. To add insult to injury, we were then charged for the items that we did not receive. This was a disaster. The manager came to our table and apologized, as well as our server, saying that there were issues with various items at the restaurant. We were offer items as compensation and a discount, however as previously mention we were charged for items wenever received. Since this place is on the Riverwalk in San Antonio, one would expect top-notch service and food. There are countless other places to go for much better service, food, and prices. Its definitely not worth paying top dollar. The manager said he would make it up to us on our next meal, but we will never return...

We went to Ostra twice during our business trip. The food was delicious, the servers were very nice. I liked everything they served. Their fish dishes are so soft, the meat almost melts. I never tried the Shrimp n Grits dish - but I will definitely come back one day to try it!

If you want to sit outside, its a guarantee wait. We got our name on the list, and the lady said it was a 2 hour wait. We were ok with the wait. They said they would text, and they never did. We came back two hours later and they said they called us but I never received anything. They sat us down, the waitress took 10 minutes to get drinks and maybe another 5 to get us water. The bread and spread were amazing, probably the best thing they had. We ordered the steak and lobster, lobster tail was very dry. They apologized and discounted part of the meal. The burger was great, juicy, and fries were fresh too. Its definitely nice place to sit and enjoy the view.

The food is over priced and over-hyped. Youre paying for the atmosphere and the view, not the food. You can basically get most of the food from Costco. The oysters were ok, not especially fresh but not too bad. The halibut was moist in the middle, but the two ends were a bit dry. At a quarter of its price, it wouldve been exceptional, but at $48, one would expect a better sauce, a better cook on the fish, and the broccolini to not be burnt.

Ostra is on the Riverfront so you can choose to be outside or inside. We got the best table inside but right by a window. Thank you Jorge (George) who continued to be the BEST waiter we have had in ages. Went to celebrate my friend s 60th birthday. Arrived early for our reservation so decided to wait inside with a glass of wine from the bar. Restaurant had a fishy smell inside that was a bit off putting and we honestly thought about leaving but then we were told our table outside was ready, so we stayed. Hostess, bar server and our table server were all very kind and attentive. No complaints on service. There was also a hand signed birthday card waiting at our table which was a nice touch. Food was ok. My friend had the halibut. Fish cooked nicely. Only 2 small strips of broccolini, a few pickled carrots and cauliflower rice that was underwhelming, and she didn t care for the sauce. Her meal was also a mixture of warm and cold items which she found odd. I had the Blackened Redfish and substituted brussel sprouts for the creamed spinach. I don t even think there was one whole brussel sprout on my plate. There was one half in tact and a few other leaves scattered. The fish was cooked well, but under seasoned for blackened . The skin was left on and only crispy around the edges, middle of skin was undercooked and a bit off putting due to texture. The grits and sauce were nice but the sad roasted tomato on top was not. While we were there, the table next to us sent all of their food back and left and the table behind us complained about how long it was taking for their food to come out. The one shining star of the whole evening was the pistachio ricotta cake which was complimentary for my friend s birthday. Quality and quantity of our food and wine did not measure up to the prices charged. We both said we would not return for a meal there, but agreed we d go back for a slice of that Pistachio cake.

This is a very good restaurant! We actually went twice within a week for cocktails and a quick bite to eat. I must say that everyone here was very nice and attentive. The manager, Ed Parker, came to check on us and started dropping history about the area and the hotel, which I really enjoyed hearing about. Then he explained the hotels amenities such as the Mokara spa. I wish I had gotten my last massage here because it seems to be the best in town! We cant wait to come back, and I also LOVE the blue bartop. The crab cake is very good as well as the blackened redfish sandwich! My wife commented on how it didnt seem blackened, but we still really loved it. Next time, we plan on sitting at a table for a nice dinner because Ostra is a must!

Absolutely THE BEST RESTAURANT on the river walk. No other restaurant even came close. Taste profile of each and every dish we ordered was exquisitely crafted. Staff was so good and so well trained that they brought everything and anticipated our needs before we asked. Server Mr. Geuraro was the best. Our table was set perfectly. Changed silverware when our dish changed. Clean glassware and everything sparkling. We tried brunch one day and it was fantastic. Then had dinner on New Year s Eve, (thank you F&B A.Director, Manuel Rodriguez Escobar, for accommodating us) and it was perfect. Ordered Tuna, and Redfish for the 31st dinner; and Chicken and Brie sandwich, Burger for brunch and dessert on the 31st was a pistachio cake and it was fresh and light. Ostra clearly has an excellent Executive Chef and an outstanding Manager, Manuel, Assistant Director. Kudos for getting it right each and every time. High praise and this is a must try for fine cuisine at the same price point of the many other useless places on the Riverwalk. Well done, Ostra!!!

The poorly trained and inattentive staff go hand in hand with the badly prepared food. After a long wait for our order, the waitress had disappeared. The King Salmon, one of the most oiliest fish in the ocean, was served as dry as jerky. The hamburger ordered medium, was dished overdone in serveral.pieces which was hidden under cheese inside the bun. The only positive part of the lunch experience was the beautiful outdoor riverwalk setting. After lunch, we were given the wrong check. Rightfully so, due to our waitress never actually knowing we were in her station.

My husband and I stayed in San Antonio near the riverwalk for roughly a week and this is the only place we ate twice. Everywhere we ate was AMAZING, but this place was so incredibly amazing that I wanted it to be our last dinner on this trip. The oysters (Canadian) were delicious and well-prepared, the setting beautiful (we sat in the corner outside), the other food we ordered was prepared in a highly professional manner, super-fresh ingredients and that pistachio cake is one I will dream about. :) Additionally, the service by Youmma was outstanding! She helped make our initial visit here wonderful and while our server the 2nd time was also good, Youmma was simply the best and one of the reasons we returned. Thanks for an amazing dinner for two nights on our getaway. :)

Loved this place so much! The crab cakes were incredible. Jorge was our server and was wonderful, he made some amazing recommendations which we ordered. I had a wonderful lunch here after my massage at the hotel spa. The food was delicious, my Ketel One lemon drop was made perfectly and the wait staff were attentive. I ordered the Cesar salad with grilled shrimp and truffle fries. Both were delicious. The salad had anchovies on it instead of in the dressing which I didnt mind. The shrimp were cooked perfectly. We had a delightful evening at Ostra. Our waitress (Hannah) was extremely pleasant, we had a window seat with a view of the river, but the stand out winner of the entire evening was the Hamachi Crudo appetizer. I am told this is an in-house creation. It is sushi grade tuna in a bit of a vinegar mustard sauce, but the truly imaginative part is the hard cracked corn, which balances the softness of the fish, and the sweet pea vines, which gave it a green counterpoint to the sauce. I never leave bad reviews, but the person who worked as a hostess today forced me to do so. After a boat ride, we were walking along the river, and a bird soiled my husbands white shirt. We urgently needed a restroom. We were looking for the nearest decent restaurant where we could sit down and have a cocktail, but first we needed to use the restroom. The person working at Hostess was a man. He not only didnt tell us where the restroom was, but also started asking which hotel we were staying at. We replied that we were staying at the Marriott next to this restaurant. He then informed us that they dont serve Marriott guests and dont have a public restroom. We said we would sit at the bar, but first, we needed a restroom because, as I mentioned, a bird soiled my husbands white shirt, and we needed to address that first. In the end, this person simply ruined our mood and discouraged us from staying in this restaurant. I request the management to pay attention to customer service. Usually, we always spend no less than $100-150 in restaurants, plus tips. In the end, you have lost quality, good customers and spoiled our mood. Please consider this and conduct training for your staff on how to interact with customers

My wife and I who consider ourselves to be foodies ain t here three times in two days! We were never disappointed. Our servers (Rebekah, Youma, and Lucie) we re absolutely wonderful! Not only did they take great care of us, but they truly went above, and beyond to ensure that our experience was a very pleasant one. In addition to that, the food really tasted fantastic! Went to a late breakfast to enjoy the scenery. They were busy but were able to accommodate our group of 3 on the patio. The food was delicious and my over medium eggs were cooked just right. While visiting and walking The Riverwalk we stopped and went into Ostra during their happy hour for a late lunch. We were met at the door and seated. Gilbert was our waiter and he was outstanding! My boyfriend and I have been to Ostra 3 times so far: our first date, another time to celebrate us being together, and most recently, our one year anniversary! This is such a gem we found when we couldnt secure a reservation elsewhere. We stumbled across Ostra and never looked back. We now come here for special occasions because its so memorable. We usually stay at Mokara Hotel and Spa & this restaurant is right below it! Genardo was our server this time around and he learned that it was our anniversary and brought out two champagne glasses for us to celebrate and enjoy with our meals. We had Mike the last two times and he remembered us when he saw us! That made us feel so special and even more at home. We took advantage of the Culinaria menu & everything was delicious! The restaurant manager even came by to check on us (hes new) and was very friendly. Lastly, we got a sweet treat from the chef and he personally brought it to our table. 5 stars in service, food portions, and ambiance! Well definitely be back as this is now our tradition. :)

I have an affinity for delicious food and amazing service. Those two things are harder and harder to find, and are especially harder to find together. Ostra excels in both of those areas. We ordered the East Coast Oysters, the Scallops, and the Tuna, and oh my gosh, every bite was delectable. The oysters were some of the best we have ever had. They were so good that we went there 3 nights in a row just for the oysters. The scallops and Tuna were cooked perfectly and the sauces and vegetables that accompanied were a pleasant surprise to the palate. I was in the River Walk area for 5 days and the food at Ostra was hands down the best I had. Our server was Jorge. He was incredibly attentive and personable and was knowledgeable about the menu. If he is working when you visit, ask to sit in his section. Since we were so impressed with our experience, we asked to meet the chef. Chef John was humble and kind and possesses amazing skills of preparing food in ways rarely seen, and its good, high quality food. If you want a 5 star dining experience you must absolutely visit Ostra.

I ordered 1/2 dozen raw oysters, but couldnt decide which ones I wanted. They sell three different types: Gulf, East Coast, and Canadian. He offered to get me two of each. I was able to try all three. Wife ordered the Ora King Salmon with parsnip puree, baby bok choy, and chimichurri. She was very pleased. I ordered the Clams Linguini as my main dish with sofrito and white wine cream. It was extraordinary. Shortly after our meals arrived, it began to rain. Mike came out to help us move to a table inside. As a matter of fact, every employee we came in contact with was extremely friendly. I highly recommend Ostra whenever you are in the Riverwalk area.
