Traveling from out of state to this place was an awesome experience! First time in San Antonio and this is the first place we ate at. Service staff was on point and very courteous. I got the burger with the bacon jam and it was by far one of the best burgers Ive tasted. Drinks were great I got an in house beer that was great and the wife got a margarita that was amazing! Touring the connected Emma Hotel was cool and both places have some history that was great to learn about.

As just another tourist visiting San Antonio, I heard that this was the place to get great local beers and I was not disappointed. My bartenders, Marissa and Miguel, were knowledgeable, professional, and accommodating. They not only provided five star quality service but they also gave me some excellent recommendations of other establishments and stores to check out in the city. Both of them made my visit to Southerleigh pleasant and memorable. I regret that I wont have time to go back but I am very happy that I made the trip out to eat great food and enjoy cold amazing beers here. Ill definitely be recommending this place to anyone visiting San Antonio.

Southerleigh is a great group restaurant - the menu stretches, meaning its likely to please even the fussiest eater in your group. And so at least when we visited, there were a good few large groups that the team were doing their best to satisfy. Unfortunately the consequence of that was slightly poorer service for us. The servers were perfectly friendly, just visibly rushed. And that meant things like our main courses being delivered without anyone clearly the plates from our appetisers, us being asked if wed like dessert as we were still eating our mains, and then the cheque being put on the table as said mains were being cleared. The food itself was good. The fried chicken is as juicy as they promise, the steak frites very well cooked. And the pretzel to start is absolutely delicious. If we were back in San Antonio with a big group of friends, wed definitely give Southerleigh another try. But as a couple, we left thinking there were better options around The Pearl.

Just love the service and food (appetizers). We were just looking for breweries and this came up. To my surprise expensive and sophisticated but the beers dis not disappoint and the appetizers (devils eggs, tartare) were extraordinario but the beat part was the service! The server was amazing and the service was super fast on a monday late afternoon. Just amazing will recommend without a doubt.

We go to the Southerleigh in the Rim 4 to 5 times a month, but we were going to a show downtown and thought amazing southerleigh is right there! WRONG!! It s a completely different menu, they don t even have happy hour. The waiter was rude when I asked about it being different apparently it happens often that people get confused. 1. Change the name bc why are both places named the same if in fact they are NOT THE SAME?!? Or 2. Serve the same things at both locations. As a customer I shouldn t have to do extensive research on your establishment before going, if I ve already been a regular at another location. Figure it out. ..what a disappointment

Nice place, good ambience and fine food. The problem? We had to wait for almost 1hr for our table due to their disorganization. The setting of the place is very nice and, once seated (which as mentioned was quite a challenge) service was good. The quality of the food is good, and the presentation of some plates could be better. We waited for all that time only because we were a large group (8 people) and our local friends really wanted us to experience the Pearl area. Would I return? I dont think so, something as basic as having your reservation being honored is fundamental.

I had the best time at Southerleighs! I tried the chicken, crab mac and cheese, and fried potatoes, and everything was absolutely amazing from the decor and ambiance to the service, drinks, and food. We went during brunch, and although fried chicken isnt on the brunch menu, our waitress kindly checked if they could make it for us, and they did! If you want to try their more popular dishes, visit during the week or during dinner (after 5 pm) on weekends, as the brunch menu doesnt include all the favorites mentioned in reviews and its served on Sat/Sun until 3pm. Personally, Im not a fan of breakfast food, which is what they offer on weekends during brunch. Nonetheless, I had a great time. Was visiting from Houston, cant wait to return. This restaurant easily ranks in my top 1%! Wheelchair accessibility: No challenges with wheelchairs. Big open doors, plenty of space between seating.

Food was great. They have the best soft pretzel Ive ever had which pairs well with the cheese and mustard that comes with it. They had an asparagus soup i tried which I didnt care for. I asked the waiter to return it they did with no problems . Their beer flights are very good. Every single beer on their list was good. I didnt one bad tasting beer. Its dark in the restaurant and it has an old school feel to it. The ambience was palpable inside and surrounding the restaurant. My only gripe is the chairs near where the chefs cook the food are very uncomfortable.

Had oysters, red snapper throats, fried calamari, deviled eggs, crab mac, and fried chicken. Some of the best fried chicken Ive had in my life. Oysters were OK. For gulf oysters, they were good, but I just prefer oysters from more northern waters. I was surprised by how much I enjoyed bbq sauce on my oysters, though. The snapper throats (Ive always called them collars) were really good. Fresh tasting and crispy fried. The deviled eggs didnt really do it for me. The bacon jam on top tasted old, and the eggs themselves didnt have a ton of flavor. The calamari was good, I liked the sauce. It was like a curried marinara. The cab mac was good, but I didnt get much crab, and one of the people I was eating with said they got shells. I would think they would use canned jumbo lump crab, but maybe theyre getting in whole crabs. We didnt finish it because we were all pretty full. None of the deserts sounded very exciting, so we decided to go to the ice cream shop by the culinary institute.

Wow!! This was our first time dining here and we were very happy with our decision. We started with the cornbread and deviled eggs, I highly recommend both. For entrees we did the fried chicken with the blue crab mac and cheese and goat cheese carrots. Everything was great, chicken fell off the bone and was crispy on the outside and juicy inside. We could not finish it was a lot of food. I d recommend doing one appetizer and one side of splitting with someone as their portions are generous. Margaritas were delicious. Patio seating was great with the weather. Server was nice but slow, it was a Friday night but little things we had to ask for that I believe should be done without asking.

We got the Winter Salad, Kids Mac meal, corn bread, pretzel, and the steak frites. I also got a beer flight. I like how they labeled very beer so Id know what I was drinking. Go to San Antonio for the experience, stay for a Southerleigh s reservation. There are no wrong option here. I got what I got once before: their Famous Fried Chicken. It s killer. Definitely the best fried chicken I ve ever had. It still holds true. The small biscuits served with it are also incredible! The appetizer chosen this trip was their Famous Snapper Throats. Great, but with hesitation. It s a pretty (fried) dish, but VERY bony. Some meat to it, but the juice may not be worth the squeeze for this once if you plan on ordering another fried dish as your entree. Carrot Cake for dessert - it was great! Just very heavy after an already heavy meal. Don t forget, you also have a few other great options nearby if you need to walk around before making a dessert decision! Only thing that has changed was the pressure of the waiter making us feel like a number and a tip more so than a customer enjoying a sought-after spot at a favored restaurant. It seemed like he changed moods in a snap once we were nearing the end of our time experience. Still, a great night with great memories and great food!

Our server was super helpful with my questions about the cocktail menu. All our food was delicious. We had the deviled eggs, the burger and the pork chop entrees, and the banana mud cake dessert. Highly recommend for a special occasion :)

This place made Eeyores ears stand up after sipping on some brews. The review is simple. Excellent service. Great drinks and beer here. Worthy of a food stop as well if looking for something unique. A tad pricey, but then whats not in this city now with all the changes and growth. This place fits in well with the Pearl location and surrounding venues. Worth a try to see if it ends up on your regular rotation.

Food was unusual and amazing. We had snapper throat, deviled eggs, quail, cauliflower in cashew sauce and carrot cake (to go!). Appetizers were delicious and would have been enough. Two small quails were cooked well and cauliflower was amazing. Our waitress was very knowledgeable and knew all about the menu and drinks.

On a busy Friday night, we walked in and requested to sit by the kitchen window to the right of the entrance, helping us to avoid an hour wait time. Our waitress Vivian gave great recommendations and was attentive without being annoying. She was very kind and thoughtful. Our food was amazing! the crab Mac and Chesse was wetter than a slip n slide. I havent had a delicious Mac at a restaurant like that... Ever! The Kanpachi Tartare not only looked beautiful but was super light and refreshing. I could eat that every day. I enjoyed my red fish and my husband liked his schnitzel. The ambiance here is inviting. You have people dressed up business casual to casual for a date night. Super cute place, but be ready to spend your coins in order to have a proper experience.

Truly exceptional. The food as well as the drinks is the best. The best burger Ive had in a long time. We ordered shrimp which was brought on a bed of ice, amazing. Russian stout beer is legitimate with its more than 10 degrees of alcohol. Mimosas as they should be and the best service. We ate at the bar because we had to wait 45 minutes and it was the best decision we could make. The bartender made all the difference. We will definitely return. Its in a really beautiful hotel. A must stop from now on. Its not cheap but its worth every penny.

We went for Sunday brunch on Mothers Day. Phenomenal service and the food were fabulous. I had their Gulf coast eggs, Benedict. The base was a crab cake instead of an English muffin or biscuit. It was unbelievable. We also tried their fried green tomatoes. Absolutely delicious! Pictured was a fried chicken sandwich topped with a fried egg, cheese, and loaded in a big delicious square biscuit. It, too, was amazing!

I came here because my sister wanted to come for Mothers Day. I looked at the menu before hand and was not too excited, but because my sister wanted to come here, I agreed to come. I ordered the fried chicken with the whip mashed potatoes and carrots. I was so disappointed because they said it was the best fried chicken in San Antonio that was cap. The chicken didnt have that crunch that fried chicken usually has the flavor was very bland. Even the hot sauce they had was not spicy at all and tasted more like vinegar. The mashed potatoes on the menu says whipped mash potato, and it was not whipped at all. it was even getting clumpy. My nephew ordered the shrimp boil, and that was not good either it was not your traditional boil. It lacked garlic and lots of butter. All I could taste was a seasoning that to me felt like went in a barbecue sauce and it was not spicy either. I would never come back to this place. It is overrated and overpriced. Wouldve rather gone to Popeyes and get me a piece of fried chicken from there. The only thing good about this restaurant was the atmosphere and the customer service but they lied about the best fried chicken in San Antonio. If you like bland food, then this is the place for you

I love sea scallops and was pleased to see Scallops with Black Risotto and Mushrooms on the menu at the Pearl. The scallops were perfectly prepared and delicious. The risotto was green, not black. It was also tasty. The mushrooms were limp, slimy and flavorless. Ironically, as I was walking to my car, I asked a chef from another restaurant who was walking along the same path, how to prepare mushrooms so they are not limp and tasteless. He suggested that a sauté in oil would give them a better texture.

Stellar food with a good bit of flavour you don t get often with downtown eateries trying to appeal to the crowd. Had the Gulf Coast Benedict for a brunch and their Saba Copper Alt, making for a vibrant and meal with tangy and complex elements to make it all come together. The staff are welcoming and regulars are genial. Not a place for those looking for a quiet meal, but definitely a place for friends and celebrations. They offer samples of their brewed staples and outdoor seating for cooler days in San Antonio.

No clue why this place is rated as high as it is. We had a Sunday brunch - very slow service despite being not busy. Food is underwhelming- 2 main courses- fired chicken sandwich is smth more like from Burger King, egg Benedict was not good - English muffins were def frozen & not even toasted, potato sides for both meals were mushy & assuming frozen. Hostess was almost annoyed being there along with everyone else being there. There are better places to enjoy at Pearl for sure.

However, we ordered the mac and cheese with lobster and 3/7 of the party members become violently ill the next morning and one person almost checked into the hospital. Fortunately, it was an acute food-poisoning and not E. Coli or anything more serious. DO NOT ORDER THE MAC AND CHEESE WITH LOBSTER

I hate giving a 2 star but for a birthday dinner I had too, the server was not attentive and made the experience awful. I feel bad because it was my decision to come here tonight. Food flavors seemed like it could have be great, but unfortunately the food was too cold when it came out to be satisfied at all. Cold steak and cold pasta is not what I had in mind. I m sure if it would have been hot it probably would have been great. When I made the reservation they asked if we were celebrating and I told them yes a birthday I guess I thought they would make it special, but no and that s ok but maybe don t ask

Such a cute place and the food is great too. We had a reservation but was able to be seated earlier. The restaurant definitely has a vibe with indoor and outdoor seating. The chairs indoors were really comfy with thick cushioning. We got the cornbread which was jalapeno infused (we didnt realize but it was a nice surprise). Even the bits without the jalapeno tasted like pepper which was awesome. The sweet and barely spicy combination was nice, not to mention the nice texture of the soft middle and crispy edges. The chicken entree we got was the famous fried chicken, half a chicken - one white meat breast and one dark meat thigh. It was the juiciest chicken Ive ever had. Both items came out piping hot and was enough for two people to share. Note that the bathroom is a bit hard to find even when the server gave directions. Inside the restaurant, directly across from the entrance are stairs. UNDERNEATH the stairs around the bar area is a doorway with a ramp leading to a door that will take you into Hotel Emma. Once you open the door, make a right. Its strange that they share the bathroom with the hotel and makes it a slight trek. Wheelchair accessibility: Restaurant is flat and very wheel chair accessible, no ramp is required.

Mehh, like other reviews say, their other location is a lot better. I got a chopped salad and it came with more onion than anything and no cheese. It was 1/2 onion, 4 cherry tomatoes and 1 head of lettuce. That s it. Oh and like a tablespoon of bacon crumbles. Hubs got half a chicken, fried, which we shared. It was juicy, but didn t really like the batter. Honey biscuits would have been dank if they were not as dense.

This is a really nice venue for craft beer and food. I thought both were superior. A good selection of beer that is brewed on site but their current selection has gotten smaller and no longer suits my taste. They dont service crowds well. Food menu is short and generally ala carte, which causes the meal to be a bit pricey. Service is slow and a little erratic. Bar is small with only 9 seats, so if youre there for the beer, expect a table. This place gets crowded on weekends and may force you into outdoor seating which can be unbearable in the Summer.

The food was very good and I would return just for that. We had a few of their beers as well and enjoyed all of them. Started off a little rough as we were told 15min outside and 30min inside wait. We were just checking on status after 30min had come and gone and were told it would be an hour wait. Manager overhead the discussion and stepped in to make things right, they found a table for us shortly after. I am guessing they scrambled something together because service was a little slow at first but she got better after she finally came to get our drink order.
