I ordered spicy beef empanadas appetizer (qty: 3.) They were not good. I didnt finish the one I tried. It had a bit of filler (onion, tomato, something else) and was thick crusted that overwhelmed the dish. Disappointing. I told the waitress, Id like my check, and Im not going to eat that. I tipped 18% because it wasnt her fault the food was terrible.

Service and staff are HORRIBLE, they act friendly in front of their managers and leaders but when leadership is not looking or around them they mean mug the hell out of all their customers and are just flat out rude to everyone including their own coworkers, not just once but multiple times we ve been. It s mostly the female servers that are rude and when they walk away from you they talk crap under their breath like we don t hear them then want to slam our food on the table in an angry way.

Absolute dump of a so called restaurant . I d be hard pressed to find a restaurant that is worse than dining here. Our whole experience from the very start was a nightmare. The front of house staff were rude and uninviting when we asked to be seated next to the river. Their young coworker, the hispanic lad with the orange tips was so reluctant to seat us next to the river as it was supposedly for 4 people (we were a 2) because it was against their restaurant policy, despite the fact that the restaurant was fairly empty. Having waited about 15 minutes for service at a table a couple of other diners said we could take as they left, we encountered one of the managers, a particularly nasty and short rounded woman. Her attitude and rudeness was the nail in the coffin for our visit to Cafe Ole, having stated they wouldn t clear a dirty table as the staff wouldn t know we weren t already served customers , even though her moron of a young coworker had watched us sit there only a quarter of an hour prior. Thankfully, we didn t have to subject our tastebuds and stomachs to the food they try to serve here, because judging from the looks of other photos, my toilet would have had a field day. Avoid at all costs if you don t want to have to waste precious moments of your life writing reviews like this to ward off other potential customers from dining here. Plenty of other decent places along the river walk, such as Joe s Crabshack and Iron Cactus.

The food was not that great. My husbands fish tacos comes with coleslaw and it was just shreded lettuce with carrots no sauce in it at all. My sisters enchiladas had so much chili sauce it looked like she ordered chili. I ordered nachos and it barely had any cheese and it had more beans than chips. Also we were charged $204 for 3 meals and 3 kids meals. We did order 3 adult bevs but they tasted like dish water so we didnt even drink them. We were never given a paper receipt and was told they dont offer them. We were also told the gratuity was included in the total which is wild to me. Asked for a manager and no one never came and unfortunately we were in a hurry so after waiting 30 minutes we just left. Needless to say we will never come back again and we will be disputing the charge.

The place is pretty cool. It s right on the riverwalk. They have indoor and outdoor seating. The guacamole was missing something. We had to send back our shrimp tacos due to the tortillas being hard and uncooked. Even when they brought back a new plate they still fell apart and I settled with eating it with a fork. I recently visited Cafe Ole at the Riverwalk with my parents while they were in town, and unfortunately, the experience was disappointing from the moment we arrived. Arrival and Seating: When we arrived, the staff seemed bothered and uninterested in serving us, clearly ready to leave for the day. Despite the picturesque location of the Riverwalk, they initially wanted to seat us inside in a corner with no views. Dining at the Riverwalk is all about enjoying the scenery, so I requested to be seated outside by the balcony. While they did move us, it was obvious they werent happy about it. Service: Our waitress, Marisela, was dry and unfriendly throughout our meal. When I asked for a Michelada (a beer with lime and salt), she looked at me as if I were an alien. Despite Cafe Ole being a Mexican restaurant, she had no idea what a Michelada was and ended up bringing me my beer with a cup on the side containing lime juice and other ingredients, leaving me to fix it myself. It felt like going to a Chinese restaurant and being met with confusion when asking for an egg roll or a fortune cookie. Food and Management: The food took an extraordinarily long time to arrive, and to top it off, one of our orders, my wifes Caesar salad, was missing. After reminding them multiple times, the manager (a tall, skinny, bald African American man) said he would check on it personally but never returned. It became clear why the service was so poor if the manager couldnt be bothered to follow through, how could we expect the staff to be any better? Conclusion: We never received the Caesar salad and eventually canceled it since we were all done eating and ready to leave. When the check arrived, the total was over $200. While I understand the premium for the Riverwalk location, the food and service were far from worth it. If youre looking for a pleasant dining experience at the Riverwalk, I highly recommend eating elsewhere before you visit. The consistently poor service across restaurants here is baffling, especially given the areas status as a tourist hotspot. It tarnishes the reputation of San Antonio and the Riverwalk. Someone needs to hold these establishments accountable for their prices and the quality of service they provide. If they cant manage their staff properly, they should consider selling to someone who can. Overall: Save your money and your mood by dining elsewhere before enjoying the beauty of the Riverwalk.

Went to San Antonio to have dinner with the Family on the River. We have several restaurants to choose from on the river walk. The kids feel like they want quesidese. We settle for Cafe Ole. It is around 6pm in June so it is hot but under all the trees and shade with the fans running, we were feeling comfortable. The service from Andy and other staffs was great. The food came out pretty quick and quickly devour them. It was good. The drink and the sitting next to the river walk was great. Total bill for 5 $100 not include tip. Here are the dishes we ordered. We were completely ignored by 2 different servers, firstly the Hispanic guy with the orange tips was meant to be our server and he did nothing after 15 minutes of waiting for water, menus, anything. He completely ignored us. We then tried to wave down another server after waiting, and the next server (a short plump lady with glasses) gave us complete attitude and was extremely rude. The food was very mediocre and aside from our waitress the service was beyond poor. Our food arrived in intervals of 15 minutes and multiple people in our group didn t receive their food until reminding the waitress. Went in at 4 pm for a marg on the river walk, and sat outside. Started nicely until food was left out and pigeons started swarming. There were little birds mixed in too. (All I wanted to ask if there were two different restaurants or the same) Long story short she had a terrible attitude and kept laughing like if it was a joke. After that happened i didnt want my family to not enjoy their dinner because they wanted to eat there. We got seated and Im assuming the host spoke to her supervisor which is what he said. He said we had to leave and wouldnt serve us because his host felt uncomfortable. I answered back with a uncomfortable because i asked her a question and she gave me an attitude and i asked her why was she in a bad mood? Anyways I dont see how someone can be supervising a business with that kind of behavior. Guillermo or Gilbert was his name I cant really remember and he was very unprofessional, you all should really consider who you put in charge to manage yall business because if its people like that you all will lose a lot of customers.

Should ve known this place wasn t going to be it after the salsa they serve. No kick to it at all, found it strangely sweet, tried asking for something with more of a punch and they didn t have it. If you re a yank I guess it s for you. The fajitas plate felt like microwaveable reheated meat. Beans felt like we re canned beans, rice was a good portion but little mushy. Live music we paid for and frozen margaritas made it better.

Service is awful employees reek of marijuana. Waitress had awful attitude and server was incompetent. Facial tattoos and the stench of weed ruined my appetite. Server that only checks on you once not around when help was needed. I will not be coming back and will be spending my money elsewhere. Great ambiance on the Riverwalk. Food is decent. Poor waiter must have been new. Had to ask for chips and salsa after drinks arrived. He had no idea what a Seasonal Texas beer was or what rotating taps were. Ordered a beer and asked him to find out what the seasonal or rotators were but he forgot. Went somewhere else for a second beer. Nice kid but evidently not well trained.

DO NOT, I REPEAT DO NOT blindly trust these guys. THEY WILL TRY TO SCAM YOU IF YOU ARE NOT CAREFUL. First off, the food was fine. Not amazing but good. But that aside, ALWAYS get a receipt and get a menu to cross check prices between the menu and your receipt, because they are trying to scam people. The prices on the menu are one thing and the price you get charged is different. Take your time and get a breakdown of your bill and cross check it with the menu so that you dont get scammed. The only reason I was able to figure out I was getting scammed was because I paid a lot of attention to the menu while ordering, and the bill I got was preposterous. I had to go back and forth with the waitress for 40 mins while she was giving completely random prices and even then it didnt add up to the total. Then they gave us some stupid reason and then gave us some money back in cash but didnt give us the full amount that we deserved to get. So do BE AWARE OF SCAM HERE. Now I do agree mistakes can happen but this was no mistake. I can tell you that for sure.

Horrible service. The waitress wouldn t come around and got our order wrong three times. She couldn t hear us and instead just ordered our food wrong. Rolled her eyes at us when we pointed that s not what we had ordered. We ordered a salad with salmon and it never came until she came to check on us and I had to remind her. She forgot the side of beans, she forgot a beer. Everything we asked her she rolled her eyes and looked at her portable device and realized she missed it. They never brought the salsa we asked for. The rice is salty and horrible. The shrimp over cooked and the salmon under cooked. Steak was flavorless and flautas with chicken had no flavor. Just boiled chicken. Horrible experience. Nice view of the river and the festival but that s about it. To note it wasn t just her that we asked salsa from. 3 different waiters and we never got it. Not worth the money at all. If you are going to work on customer service at least have a smile. I understand servers are tired but man the attitude on her killed our entire experience. Will never be eating there again.

Arrived with a party of 8 for fiesta river parade. First table seated and twenty minutes later no waiter as we watched other people enjoy margaritas. Angel (and the waiter trainer on duty) stopped by our table. When we told him what was going on he quickly investigated and found, in all the fiesta confusion our table was not assigned a server. We were visiting the river walk, party of eight. Decided to try some food based on the menu outside. I ordered water with extra lemon to drink. I got the water and no lemon. I reminded the girl, and she took my water, kinda acknowledged it but then brought nothing again no water even. . She brought my sister in law the wrong enchiladas( my sister in law still attempted to eat them because the server didn t seem to understand the error and it was becoming frustrating), they brought my nephew enchiladas without chicken when he asked for chicken ( they fixed that order) and my husband s burger was not to have ham, pineapple, tomato nor cheese. The girl goes Mexican hamburgers have cheese! I said ok good but MY husband can t eat that! She goes fine I ll take it back!! (Kinda with attitude in her reply) So another girl comes by and I say it doesn t list cheese anyway she goes yes it does it says asado or asadero ( not queso which to our family means cheese). I said regardless it was not to have it on the burger which I stated else my husband gets ill. She goes ok they are working on it. The first girl then who is not working with us anymore but she passes by and shoots a hard glance my way as if I m causing trouble for her!! Eye daggers! So they finally bring my husband s food out and he takes a bite and chews it spits that bite out and pulls out the slice of ham. We had said from the beginning no cheese, pineapple, tomato or ham. Clearly. This is the second Tex-mex or Mexican restaurant that we visited in Texas that got our orders wrong. I told the girl (second girl) my husband bit the burger with ham, he may get sick but still survive. She was like oh ok . No empathy no concern, very non chalant about everything. No further questioning is there anything I can do to make it better? nothing! My sister in law has been in restaurant and hospitality management for over 30 years, it was disturbing to see that just any young people are hired. They fill the position. It feels as if let s get you in and get you out. And they don t care. They don t care that if business losses a customer because A) they figure the business has plenty of money and B) it s not their problem. However it is cause in the long run nobody addresses this, and little by little they get used to performing and providing service this way. Then, before you know it it does affect the business, negatively. I won t be coming back. I don t think I m the first to deal with this subpar level of service. I probably won t be the last but people will catch on. Chips had a terrible chemical after taste too. Who knows what they are using to fry them in. Very sad experience. Texas is amazing for bbq but from what I can tell so far Tex Mex or Mexican food here is not what I expected.

Server KIM totally ROCKS! I feel strongly that there will always be some kind of problems in life and what we do with that determines our success. Kim embodies this. The day before the eclipse, my family chose indoors to void the 25 min wait for outdoors. She is serving the whole balcony on our side with 2 new tables including ours. She went out of her way to at least serve drinks and over our order in. Then she found partner waitstaff to our main dishes when prepared. We appreciated their efforts but there were several glitches which we finally gave up trying to get corrected because they just had so many diners and overworked staff. But when Kim finally caught her breath and doublechecked on us she immediately saw issues with what was served to us and corrected it as soon as she could, even to the extent of a whole new order of beef fajitas for two with all the fixings. By the time we left we were certainly not grumbling about our issues . . . We ended up with a pretty full doggie bag and total satisfaction with our meal. Thanks, Kim, for pushing though your killer allergies to make our eclipse pre-party the ultimate!!!

The place was quite busy, the patio looked nice but there was a 45 minute wait time for that area, we were famished so agreed to get seated anywhere. We were pretty open minded about the food however it was atrocious, all the dishes seemed like theyve been heated in the microwave, food was bland and extremely weird combinations, such as Mole with salad and beans, food looked stale and was extremely bad, drinks were overpriced and small quantities and so was the food, I would never, ever go back again. There are better placed in San Antonio.

I wanted to enjoy this experience. The lady who greeted us at the entrance was great. And our server, when he was able to get to us was attentive. However, the food was not great. My plate the Enchilada had minimal sauce, and a bit of a bitter flavor to it. My wife ordered the Tacos and when they came out the corn tortillas looked like they had been soaked in oil. They literally dripped oil when she held it up. Suffice it to say, we would not revisit if in town again.

Will was our bartender/server and our favorite server during our trip to San Antonio. Coming from the Midwest I expected good Mexican food in the state of Texas but I will pass next time and get my tacos from a place in the Midwest. Dirty bathrooms. Lack flavor in tacos.
