We returned for updates to documents we previously had created by David. The process was convenient, simple, and clear. David was able to meet with us remotely until signing which worked excellently with our schedule. Paperwork signing was clear, explained, and covered all our expectations. David recently helped my parents create several legal documents for their estate plan, including a trust, POAs, medical directives, pourover wills, etc.. It is so hard to think through all the things that can happen at the end of life, but so vitally important to have a plan set in place. David was so patient and kind through the whole process and explained everything clearly. Besides being professional, we all felt that he is trustworthy and honorable. We also really appreciated his accessibility to answer many questions as they came up. We now have peace of mind knowing that my parents wishes will be carried out without a long court probate process. Highly recommend!

I have had the pleasure of working with Mr. Butterbaugh for more than 20 years on my return to Texas from Hawaii where I was a practicing orthodontist. My goal at the time was to review my overall estate plan when I met with David and Im so glad I did. I needed trust and will modifications and with the passing of my wife very recently, Im so glad I did. Davids efforts in taking the case through probate were extraordinarily efficient and Im totally grateful for his professional efforts. David Butterbaugh recently helped my elderly mother write a new will and put all of her affairs in order. At every step, from the first phone inquiry until the signing of the documents, he was thorough and took time to understand what her wishes were and to explain how best to accomplish them under Texas law. At no time did he rush us, which was remarkable given that a change in Moms health meant that finishing quickly was important to us. Were grateful for his willingness to accommodate us without once showing a hint of impatience.

We had contacted David ten years ago about providing for our disabled daughter via a Special Needs Trust, and found him to be personable and competent at that time. Our situation changed over the past decade - our other daughter became an adult, our alternate Guardians/Executors/Trustees changed, and I retired from full-time employment, so we thought it best to update our Wills and trusts. We contacted David again, and he volunteered to meet with us at a convenient time. He still doesnt have a private office where clients meet with him - he shares a building and front desk staff with many other professionals (some attorneys, some not) and meets with clients in a shared conference room, just as he did ten years ago - but the arrangement works acceptably, and I certainly understand the need to keep overhead low. He remains personable and provided us with true expertise. When I wanted to do away with the trust we had created in 2009 for my non-disabled daughter because she was no longer a minor in 2019, he brought up some excellent points about why it might better protect her interests to continue the trust for her despite the fact that she was now an adult. We sincerely appreciated his wisdom. He kept the lines of communication open during the process, using a client portal communication platform, and uploaded the documents through that platform with little delay. We had a chance to review and make further suggestions prior to signing the originals, and once signed, he sent the originals to us in a matter of days. He also scanned them and sent them to us so we would have electronic copies of our Wills and POAs, instead of making old-school hard copies. All in all, we had a very positive (second) experience with David, and would retain him again if and when we again need to update our Wills.

We had David draw up a Will and Power of Attorney for my father-in-law as we were really in a hurry as some things were happening really fast. David had all the paper work completed and actually went to my father-in-laws house the very next day to have it signed. Everything was taken care of in ONE day. He did a great job for us and was very professional; as he listened to everything we needed and made sure it was included. We really appreciated his help during this time. I would definitely recommend David as an Estate lawyer.

Christine Hortick was my lawyer for my CPS case that had gone legal. Ms. Hortick s receptionist was always rude when I would call the office, has yelled at me, and even hung up on me when asking for help. Ms. Hortick would take days to respond to emails and calls. I was accused of not changing my life and blamed for the way the case was going by Christine Hortick, which made me feel very discouraged after being legally violated by DFPS. After reporting Ms. Hortick, she responded by bragging about how she is respected by her community and colleagues. I am assuming these bragging statements gives this lawyer the confidence in mistreating court appointed clients. I was very dissatisfied with her service and even more bothered by the fact that I received prompt and courteous responses only after reporting this lawyer.

David being board-certified in Estate Planning and Probate was a key factor in his selection to be our attorney.
