Xochil Towers review of Cathy Compton is pretty spot on with the experience I had when she represented me as a court appointed attorney in Comal County. She claims they were never a client but, how did they describe their experience so accurately as to how mine was? Back during Covid, she had fewer reviews. Everybodys cases were pushed off for years. Its odd to read reviews describing her as an amazing attorney. Im guessing there was a turn of events that led to better representation of her clients? I am familiar with agencies that profit by helping businesses fix their ratings on Google. Even advising businesses to contact past clients and ask for a good review with the promise of some type of compensation. Anyhow, she did not act in a manner that seemed like she was on my side. It was more like she had her mind made up about me before actually meeting me to discuss my case in her office. Our first encounter seemed promising momentarily. Not so much in our second and third. One thing really stuck out during our conversation. She told me, Take the plea bargain or face the consequences for your actions. I thought that was probably the most unprofessional advise any attorney could ever give a client. It was uncomfortable to think the person that was supposed to help with your defense in court, was acting like my judge and jury before receiving the initial plea offer from the prosecutors. She wanted me to take a plea for 10 years in prison. It was the first plea offered and she wanted me to take it, no questions asked. That was when I started asking questions of course. She went from a friendly, amazing attorney, to an extremely rude and frustrated attorney. She made it seem like I was out of line for questioning her stance on my case and ultimately had herself removed from my case immediately. Extremely odd at the least. That was a blessing in disguise. I received an attorney that did a much better job. Much more considerate and understanding. He had no problem answering my questions and acting much more professional all around. My cases were handled much better and I received the minimum of what you can receive, including my cases being reduced from felonies to misdemeanors and no prison time. There were discrepancies in my case but I understood that my self defense claim came down to my actions needing to match the level of threat and I received probation only. I feel like Cathy could have maybe done a better job if she would have conducted herself as a defense attorney instead of basing her position on what she thought of her client personally. I hope this review serves as a warning to potential clients. Pull her or have her pull herself from your case if you feel she has a biased demeanor towards you personally. You may not have the same good luck I had, if you proceed with her as your attorney. 1 year probation was much better than 10 years in prison. It was the difference between an attorney on the publics side and an attorney that made their decision based on their personal outlook of their client. I wasnt going to leave a review until I had a friend recently go through the same experience with another problematic court appointed attorney for Comal County. I felt like the public should know the truth on how comal county and some of its court appointed attorneys operate. They will appoint you another attorney if you receive a biased attorney. You can actually explain to the judge about your attorneys actions and will most likely receive someone not biased or problematic in their system. Im sure my review may get a response. I will edit to refute and disprove anything not true in the response by Cathy, if there is a response to my review. After having my cases mishandled and watching a friend have theirs mishandled by a like minded attorney in the same county, I feel the public should be forewarned. Update to Cathys response: There was nothing misrepresented in my review. Just the truth. Her stance was my way or the highway. Withdrawing due to being frustrated with my questions was the reason.

I am so grateful and blessed to have had Cathy Compton as my attorney! I hope I dont run into any future trouble, but if I did because of unknown circumstances that could happen, I would absolutely choose her! She was a very compassionate attorney AND human being that worked tirelessly for my case (and many others in her caseload), especially during the Covid pandemic. She communicated with me throughout my entire case to keep me updated, (sometimes weekly), over three years! Any questions I had, especially if I felt nervous or didnt understand something, she would always get back with me immediately. I would recommend her to any and everybody, including my family and friends if they were in need of an attorney! Thumbs up for Cathy!

Cathy Compton is an absolute amazing attorney. She was my attorney a few years ago and I was just getting out of prison and was looking at possibly having to do another year for a prior charge and after one day in court she was able to get me time served and I was able to go home a few days later to be with my children and my family. Since then I have been in contact with her for a little bit of legal advice here and there and she has always been so willing to help. She responds in a timely manner. I would absolutely recommend her. Not only does she help you when you are her client but she also helps you even if youre a prior client.

Mrs.Compton is a great attorney ,she handled a case for me that was drawn out over 3 years due to covid.Not only did she consider the health risk involved she got case dropped to a lower class ,but I was given time served with no jail time. I am extremely grateful for her care and concern and I will forever consider her a friend.

Cathy Compton is an amazing and caring attorney! She will have your back and fight for you if you are willing to put in the work. I was looking at prison time and she fought for two years and was able to get me probation. She was always responsive to my emails, and would get back to me right away. If want a attorney that has your back I highly recommend Cathy Compton.

We were blessed to have Cathy Compton court appointed for a family member on a complicated case. She spent a huge amount of time researching the case and fought hard for a fair resolution. She is kind and empathetic, but also smart and tough. She works just as hard on her court appointed cases as she does her retained cases. I would definitely recommend Cathy to anyone looking for a great attorney!

After I was wrongfully arrested and charged with a felony, I reached out to a family member in law enforcement and asked what to and he told me to look up Cathy Compton and have her represent you, shes one of the best. The entire experience was traumatizing but having Cathy by my side gave me a sense of ease. She always kept her cool even when I couldnt. She told me to trust her which was hard because it was my life/future at stake. Needless to say, she did what she set out to do, getting the charges dropped. I hate that I met her under these circumstances but glad that I did. PS. If she tells you time is on your side believe it!! We butted heads a few times with that but I get it now.

This women Mrs Compton was court appointed. And that did not change a thing! She fought just as hard as you would get paying thousands to a personal hired attorney! Her communication was awsome. She never left me worrying about anything. She was very straight foward at all times. Honestly we got very blessed with having this attorney. Felony case was dropped. She truly is amazing. When my husband and I decided it was time for him to get his US Green Card we hired Cathy Compton to be our immigration attorney. She was a wonderful guide through the arduous 5 month process of completing and submitting the numerous confusing forms and supporting documents required and then she traveled to FL to be with us at the USCIS interview. From start to finish she was knowledgable, professional, supportive and kind as she helped us navigate the system. Everything went smoothly and 4 days after our interview we had the green card in hand. We think she did an awesome job in representing us and would not hesitate to recommend her to others. Superstar!

I must say that if you need a lawyer to defend you on a criminal offense, you might want to rethink Ms. Compton as your choice. Shell come on strong, assuring you that she will put up a battle on your defense. Then shell meet with you again, once more getting your hopes up that she is going to win the case for you. Only thing is that she might never call anyone to testify on your behalf, or to serve as a witness, or to gather more information that might, just might, help out in your case. She doesnt give you a choice beyond what the prosecuting attorney has on file. Ms. Compton walks the walk, but does not talk the talk. During your last consultation with her, shell hit you with reality. Plea bargain or face the consequences for your actions. Be warned, shell only give you a limited time to decide, not a week, not a day, but if you are lucky, shell give you one hour to make a decision that will further alter your families life and your very own existence. Shell make it seem as if she was truly rooting for you and that the prosecutor offer was the best thing she could do, When in my opinion, she and the prosecutor have a pre-arranged deal for all cases that are similar to your case. Just go with the flow and shell make sure you get into prison. Now if you are a harden criminal, who murdered someone, you will probably get a lesser sentences. Seem that murderers get a slap on the hand and shell make sure you get your justified imprisonment. So, go ahead and call her, pay her up front or in installments, and wait for her to work hard and fight the fight on your behalf. Aint gonna happen. Some cases are already decided even before the lawyer comes into play. Shell just manage your time and her money.
