I really want to enjoy this spot and spend more time here, but the music is consistently way too loud. The space is small and intimate, which should create a cozy, relaxed atmosphere, but the excessive volume completely ruins that. Despite multiple reviews mentioning this issue, nothing has been done. It feels like a missed opportunity and poor business management. The concept of having a DJ is cool, but its being poorly executed. They could easily play a variety of music at a reasonable level that complements the bar s intimate setting. What s more concerning is the potential for hearing damage. The volume is so excessive that it could cause harm, and in a small venue like this, it s unreasonable to expect such loud music. It seems like negligence on Green Lanterns part, as they should be aware of the risks and complaints by now. Until this is addressed, it s hard to fully enjoy what could otherwise be a great spot.

Came here at midnight on a Saturday night, we were able to find a booth to sit at. However the place is small so there is limited seating. The drinks were all really good, although it did take a bit to make. The dj was playing really good music, a little bit of everything. I wouldnt come here to chat, the music is so loud youre basically yelling to hear one another.

I have been a fan of the green lantern and regular go-er for a while now (as regular as an introvert can get) I love to tell anyone and everyone about the bar, but I m a little disappointed with how a situation was handled. I had come in with a group of women, and when I went to close out my tab, the bartender looks at me and hands me the tab while in my face telling one of the ladies i was with to not worry about her tab. While I m happy for my friend, it came off as unprofessional to do so in the same breath as they hand off my tab even tho we all came in together. I know bartenders will happily write off a tab for an attractive patron, im not offended by this, just that it felt unprofessional to not do it discreetly especially when a group of women all came in together. It creates an environment that feels more like a dive bar, rather than the high end experience I have come to appreciate at the green lantern.

Great service, with great cocktails. Happy hour till 9pm DAILY. I usually go on Sunday and always get the best service! Luna and Kiana (sorry if that is the wrong spelling) are both amazing bartenders and very personable. The cocktails are 10/10 would 100% recommend to visitors and locals. Ive been coming here for years now. The service is always top notch no matter how busy it gets. I know mike the manager and the bouncers and they are good people, but the DJ that played tonight (nov. 3rd Friday night) is awful. Please don t ever hire him again. He doesn t take requests and he cranks the volume so high me and my friends ears are still ringing and we re already home. Please don t ever hire him again I m begging you. Your customers are receiving hearing damage from mediocre bee bop music just to get a drink.

Drinks are super good and plenty of bartenders so service is speedy. My biggest complaint is how loud the music is. It s so odd because they are playing club music deafeningly loud to the point where I couldn t hear my friend right next to me. We had to leave because we were literally yelling across the table. If they turned down the music or just got rid the Dj all together it would be perfect! There is no dance floor and it s a small place with a low ceiling so the crazy dj set up makes no sense to me

Went back after a long absence and was pleasantly surprised to see how many people were at the bar. Had a great time. Music was my type of music and just loud enough so you could still have a conversation with friends. That was until... ...the DJ came around 10pm. Music was so loud it almost hurt. I had to actually text my friends because no one could hear over the music. The DJs choice of music genre was odd too, being nothing like they had played earlier via their stereo system and not for the target audience at the bar. Sadly, we either chugged the remainder of our expensive drinks or simply left them unfinished. The super-loud music and DJ ruined what was a great time up until that point. Service was excellent. Bar tenders were polite and attentive. Drinks were delicious and strong enough that you knew you got what you paid for. I will be happy to visit again, but I wont stay if the DJ comes back.

I like the calm atmosphere here and the service is top notch. They are great with craft cocktails and in-house Infusion shots. Perfect spot for a date night or to grab some high quality drinks with friends or co-workers. They may offer service industry discount if I remember correctly but don t quote me. It can get busy on the weekends so if you want a quieter experience for a first date I d recommend visiting during the week. Tequila old fashions are my favorite drink they make. No other bar can compare to the ones they whip up for me! Be sure to tip your bartenders well <3

I have never liked Martinis until I went to this place. The cucumber Martini used to be the best until yesterday July 3rd 2023. The taste was nothing close to what it used to be. Also I went with other 3 people and they had other drinks they were also very disappointed. We ended up leaving to another place. Please, please go back to the old recipes you used to have. I came here on my 21st birthday and really really wish I didn t. While being ID d (I obviously still had the vertical ID card) and the bartender took literally 5 minutes just to look down at the card like he couldn t read it, so I told him if he needed me to tell him his birthday that I could, seeing as this was my first time ever going out like this. Bartender says in an extremely condescending tone Oh I m sure you can sweetheart, I ll tell you mine if you really want. That was my first issue. I also happen to be deathly allergic to pineapple and wanted a mixed drink, I had asked if they could make one of their drinks of the night without pineapple. The bartender said there s no pineapple in any of it and then decided to add But if you re really so allergic to pineapple maybe you should do better research on your drinks . After that I left, I ve never been so blatantly disrespected to my face or talked down to in that kind of way. Worst experience ever for someone with severe social anxiety wanting to go to a quiet speakeasy for their first ever bar on their 21st birthday. Thanks for making me cry on my birthday and making me feel stupid.

Came here for my first time with a couple friends who had been here before tonight, and I gotta say its a really nice bar with a chill tavern setting. It was only us and a couple other people when we arrived so we were able to talk and have a good time but as more people arrived, the music for some reason started to get louder for some reason, which doesnt fit the tavern setting. The cocktails were great and the bartenders were really nice too, so Ill definitely be coming back again, but just please, tone down the music.

I use to go here all the time but tonight after not receiving service for a longtime I spoke to a new manger I was treated poorly by the bartender and the manager seemed to be drunk. Hard pass. Bartender was stumbling around, dropping bottles and getting drink orders wrong. The music was obnoxiously loud for such a small venue. To about 30 minutes to get our first drink order after many corrections. Old fashioned, Jameson neat and a vodka soda are not difficult drinks to make. Wow this place has gone way downhill! I use to love coming to this bar, it use to have a chill speakeasy vibe that was great for drinks. The Green Lantern continues to be my favorite cocktail bar in San Antonio for many reasons with the top 4 being: 1) Best Happy Hour in the city. Monday- Friday from 4-9pm and Saturday & Sunday 6-9pm. The cocktails are top notch. You wont find an old fashioned for $5 anywhere else that is anywhere as good as here, happy hour or otherwise. Close second would be their cucumber martinis. Just plain delicious. 2) Ambiance. Dark, speakeasy, small. Perhaps it communicates to my dark soul but the Green Lantern feels like a little vacation from the fast paced, loud world. The bartenders here are great. Im still a little sad that Toni left but Andrew and Ryan are both trained Mixologists on top of their game in personality and skills. Not sure what to order or want something different? They can concoct a drink to your liking based on your alcohol preferences. 3) Their infusions. Spicy jalapeño flavor with a chili rim or mix it up with half spicy jalapeño and strawberry vodka. Order them as shots or on the rocks, both will rock your socks! 4) While they dont have a kitchen they do have Mike from The Noodle Tree here most nights after 7pm. He makes some delicious Ramen (Miso is my fav). You can also bring in your own food or get Uber Eats to deliver. Just dont forget to get something for your bartender. They get hungry too, yo!

This spot is so hidden you might not find it with the GPS but when you do, you will love it. The service is great, the ambiance is perfect and the music is loud! The bar top was full on a Friday night at 9 PM and when I walked to the bar the bartenders still served me right away. Great speakeasy style bar with delicious cocktails. For me, the old fashion was a good representation of what an old fashion should be. My girlfriend also tried the cucumber martini, and enjoyed that. Not to busy for early on a Saturday evening. Music was nice, and not so loud that you couldnt have a conversation. Loved the vibe of this place.

Have you ever been at a random music venue and you came across a random band that just blew your mind in skill and production? This is the closet I can explain to watching the rockstars behind the bar at The Green Lantern. Ive been sparingly over the last few years and Im more impressed every visit. Each time has been a joy. The hooch nerds behind the bar have an appreciation and dedication to craft that makes you feel bad for phoning it in at whatever job you currently have. Go here and drink things, youll be better for it.

Really nice atmosphere, very clean and they ensure everyone is masked. We were impressed with the drink selection and their knowledge of bottles and unique drinks. They also circled table enough that we didn t have to walk up to the bar. Highly recommend. Not easy to find...atmosphere of a speakeasy.
