The Hays is a great spot to take pics, get engaged, relax after a long day at work, chill with friends, or ride your bike to. Its open 24/7. There are no restrooms (until the park opens underneath). The view is lovely. You can see the downtown skyline. On cooler Friday nights I enjoy setting up my hammock and listening/watching karaoke from Alamo Brewery below.

It s a nice place to take pictures of the downtown skyline. The bridge originally is from 1881 and spanned the Nueces river. The best entrance is on Cherry st Be aware of homeless individuals.

There are so many things to say about this bridge. The architecture is so cool and the restoration has been done well. We visited on January 2nd and couldn t believe all the firework debris and abandoned alcohol bottles and cans. As we walked across the bridge and saw what we could see, we were greeted with the strong smell of burning marihuana from a nearby skateboard park. It was sad to see all the camps along the railroad tracks and sad to see the neighborhood kids having to maneuver these sights and smells.

I visited Hays Street Bridge since online reports suggested that the location had a nice view of the downtown skyline. The bridge is a good place to see downtown. I recommend approaching from the N Charles Street entrance since thats a better area and allows one to walk toward the skyline. In the parking lot below, there was some sort of event with multiple vendors and canopies, and the building with the Alamo on it was lively too, but I didnt investigate what was happening.

Nice bridge, VERY bad area. The Councilman from D2 just gives boilerplate lip service to the harassment by the Homeless. His answer to to have city workers clean up their filth and trash and have social workers come down and be told off by this trash. So NOTHING changes. I can t believe D2 keeps supporting that guy, he s useless.
