We are from Rhode Island and we wanted to check out a local bar. We were told to try the Lonesome Rose, and it didn t disappoint. The doorman was super friendly and the bartender was great. He made a tasty margarita. I love this atmosphere, and wish that we didn t live so far away.

Ordered some bbq brisket queso nachos to go last night from SlabSideBBQ thats located inside this establishment. It was a surprisingly long wait. Brisket was tasty, queso was present, and fries were crunchy. There was no bbq sauce or any topping to make me swoon. Nice vibe outside with the firepit, but all their plants looked neglected

They had a cash only cover fee, which was inconvenient. The awful part was that my group all saw a white rat crawling through the roof, going in and out of the kitchen. Imagine paying $5 to go inside of a place with rodents. The drinks were cheap though.

My wife and I went to see a show tonight (Vincent Neil Emerson) that was listed as a 5:00 p.m. Sunday start. We arrived at 4:50 and the manager asked us to leave as the bar would not open officially until 5:00 and the show would not start until at least 6:00. We drove 30 miles to see this event and the manager acted like it was our problem for showing up early. We see 60-70 live shows a year and easily spend more than $100 nightly for tickets, drinks, tips (band and wait staff) and band merchandise. We like to help the musicians and venues that support them. We left and didnt return. The Lonesome Rose got exactly what it deserved which was nothing. Unfortunately, the band missed out on a customer that would have generously supported them. The unreliable on-line schedule is a recurring problem for people like us that actually plan out our evenings. Four months ago, we came for a 9:00 show and we finally gave up and left at 10:30 as the musician we came to see was clearly not getting on stage until after 11:00. We paid the cover and had 3 rounds of drinks while we waited, but it was a totally wasted night for us. So be aware of what you re walking into if you are going there to see specific musicians. A little honesty on their schedule would go a long way.

Youll never be lonesome at the Lonesome Rose! This place is a fun country and western honky tonk located right on the southern end of the North Saint Marys Strip! This place has a lot of character- Its got Lone Star Beer signs everywhere, and an awesome juke box filled with great old country and western songs. We came for a concert- Santiago Jiminez Jr. was playing- the band was fantastic and the sound was clear. The service was fast and friendly- they serve lots of cheap beers, including some imports. We even had beer from Montana! Wild! They offer a wide variety of Texas craft beers as well. The bar used to be a metal bar, but they had an untimely end when the place burned up. These guys bulldozed the burned up part, and turned it into a big ol patio area, complete with picnic tables and outdoor bonfires. Just be careful with those fires! The restrooms were clean, and had all kinds of retro old west kinda stuff throughout it, which makes this places vibe even cooler. Its a great new addition to the Strip- its really about the southernmost bar along the strip, but its certainly worth the trip!

My first time there with a friend of mine. As a current bar manager and former manager of several other bars, the young lady at the front is not someone I would use to greet people. The first bartender/bar is the impression that people get for the rest of the bar. She was very rude, condescending and didnt seem happy to be there. Completely dissatisfied with the staff and will definitely not recommend this bar to anyone. I can see why her station was dead. Hopefully a manager or owner will read this and take into cconsideration this review. If this young lady represents the bar, then I can see why they turned off their Facebook reviews.

Where you go to find the ghost of Doug Sahm, Ramones on the Juke box and some friendly people to two step with. With huge outdoor area to mingle around if being inside isn t your jam, a killer food cart in the back and fire pits in the winter this place is the anti-strip mall bar. If that isn t enough for you it s the best place in San Antonio to see local and touring Honky Tonk, Rockabilly, cow punk and Alt Country bands. The Vibe Hillary, Garrett T Caps and the crew have created is so welcomed in San Antonio, let s hope it last for a long time!

Ive been to the Lonesome Rose about four times. I like this bar. Its the first honky tonk on N. St Marrys street. They have live bands, D.J. plenty of seating and a big backyard that can accommodate vendors and food stuff. I have only been there four times, but Ive gotten great service everytime and the bathrooms are clean. Go down there and get your Honky Tonk on.
