Great tap selection. The owner Jon keeps a lot of local Texas beers on tap but will have some of the hard to find ones too... while you are drinking a beer make sure you grab a awesome sandwich next door (also Jons place). The also have pizza slices at the tap room if the sando place is closed. UPDATE: As always this place does disappoint for quality and selection. Super nice people. I would be there daily if that werent too weird.

Very rude. Bf and I were looking for something new to try downtown. As we passed this place we saw the cafe sign on the side. When I pulled up the hours it stated it was closed. But the front said open (I learned the Station Cafe was unrelated to what I now know it as The Filling Station Tap Room). With that slight confusion, before permanently parking, we temporarily pulled over so I can get down and verify if they were open. I didn t make it to the door I barely made it a few feet from my car when a guy came out stood right outside the front of their business yelling at me to move my car and I can t park there. I tried to explain I had a quick question, but he proceeded to continue to yell at me that I needed to move. Ok if we can t park there, that s ok we will move our car but we weren t permanently parked and we were not blocking traffic. There was no need to react that way. There s a better way to talk to people and that wasn t it. Be more courteous because no one should be talked to yelled at like that. Not a good way to get business. Do better.

First thought was this tap room is def quite unique - met here with a friend. We were welcomed in and served right away - the local owner was very kind. We then made our way out to the patio. If I could describe the ambiance of this place I wouldn t be able to do so. The ambiance is overwhelmingly comfy-like, absolutely chill, and beautifully intimate when the sun goes down and the bulb lights are on.

Great little place to have a beer. Excellent selection of brews, from IPAs, lagers, and porters or dark beers. Chill spot to sit out and enjoy a cold one. We came in from NY, needed a chill spot to have a frosty one, and we came here. I got a t-shirt, saw some dog walkers and locals, and stared lovingly into my wife s eyes as we sipped our beers. So, dont get confused - there are two businesses side by side. The Filling Station Tap Room is on the corner, in the old filling station. They do just beers and some ciders; there are a few seats at the bar but otherwise you can sit at cafe tables under the old porte cochere or at the picnic tables under the trees. Weekdays, they get food from the Station Cafe (the twin business next door), but the Station Cafe is not open weekends so on the weekends theres no food offered at the Filling Station either. Clear as mud, right? Pretty cool place however you slice it; the trees have grown up a lot since this place first opened so its pretty decent outside even in summer. Friendly, casual service and a good range of beers and a couple of ciders on tap.

This is my favorite bar in America. Seriously. I just moved from Atlanta to Austin and I m excited I m only 95 miles away now. It s a chill place to watch a Spurs game and sample craft brews from all over South Texas. The music is always great no matter what genre is playing. I have literally been in the small inside area with three generations of the family that owns it, and I m the only one not in the family. I m a dude from another time zone. Run. Do not walk. Visit this place. Not too much, please.

Its a cool place to have all sorts of beers except the regular ones you are used to. They give you samples if you are not familiar with those beers but then again enjoy the patio and have something different. We hung out here instead of the place in front called Mavericks and only spent a few bucks on more than a few beers. Enjoy.

Ok I hate writting reviews but I had to for this place. I went to the station cafe for lunch on 6/12 for the first time. I work at the hotel down the street and all my coworkers talk about how good it is. So I tried the station club sandwhich and it was good. I went back on 6/13 & tried the san antonio cheesesteak and even though it was spicy it was good. But I didnt stop there I got the Jalepeno roast beef sandwhich as well.(As recommended by many of my co workers) And all I can say is that Im sold on this place!!! That sandwhich was so amazing!!!! Not spicy at all! Just great flavor! So if you travel to San Antonio and stay near here this place is a must!!!You wont regret it! I promise!

One of the most unassuming and underated places to get a delicious beer. Taps are always rotating and changing to offer a wider variety. Selection is enough to fit most any pallete, but do not expect to get thinge like heineken, Budweiser or miller lite, etc. Their offers are in the craft beer world and run the spectrum from ciders and blondes to IPAS, stouts, pale ales, gose and so much more. Red/White wine offering as well but not a huge selection..this is a TAP ROOM! Uber small cozy inside but plenty of outdoor seating available. Cafe next door will bring your food over to which is super cool.

The Filling Station Tap Room is a craft beer haven. Food is around the corner at The Station Cafe, but the Cafe & Tap Room have overlapping hours. The beers range from a cheap $3 Lone Star to $6.50 craft beers. Interesting conversation, jazz on the radio & sports on the TV outside. Lately, theyve added Dos Equis 16 oz. cans for $4.50, bottled water for $1, & Pepsi cans for $2. Theyve had bottles of Saint Arnold Root Beer for $2.50 for a while. UPDATE 06/17/18: At least 2 weeks ago, they got rid of Dos Equis; havent asked why yet. Prices havent gone up, but the ceiling has gone up to $7 with Double & Imperial IPAs.

I went here at 10pm and found there was no sign of food. The description on the web had me thinking this place was open until midnight and a place to get a bite. It was open but only selling beer. There is a very small footprint to this place so I would Have to assume that there is not a dough hook and a well stocked walk in refrigerator... They could have great quality craft sandwiches at lunch and dinner, the other reviews say so. But there is no way this is a fantastic pizza place. I went to the food trucks around the corner and bought a nice little pizza there. It was nice but not fantastic. Im only writing this review because many will be like me and they will search for pizza and see this 5 star rated pizza listing open till midnight; it is not.

The Station Cafe is a great lunch option for conference attendees at the nearby Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center. Just be aware that it can get pretty busy at lunchtime although the line moves very quickly (you may just not be able to get a seat). The wide array of sandwiches are all cheaply priced between $5-6 and upgradable to a drink + chips combo. Unfortunately it is NOT open on Saturdays despite the throngs of tourists that would probably appreciate a weekend sandwich.

I like a soup and sandwich place. The Filling Station fits the bill well, with the kicker being the homemade bread. Just about everything here is homemade, from the soups to the pizza. Its a lot of simple things, but it makes the place stand out, making it appropriate that it exists on the fringe of Southtown. My visit to The Filling Station was limited. I had the turkey habanero sandwich - a fairly simple turkey sandwich that was made better with the garlic habanero aioli that provided a spicy flavorful kick. The homemade roll was the best part. It was almost like a pretzel bread, and its something that sets the restaurant apart from other sandwich joints. I grabbed the soup of the day as a side - the creamy poblano. It was more poblano-y than others Ive had, which was an advantage. It was almost like a cream of broccoli. The meal wasnt earth-shattering, but it didnt need to be. With freshly-made ingredients in a kitschy exterior (its hard to believe that its run entirely by one dude behind the counter, until you actually enter the place), but The Filling Station was a great place to grab a sandwich right outside the Riverwalk area.

Its called the Filling Station, and it *looks* like a classic retro Texaco station, but theres no fuel (for cars) to be found here. On the other hand, if youre looking for a funky menu and a casual atmosphere in a restaurant near the Hyatt Place by the San Antonio Riverwalk, look no further. Most of the tables are outside, which is fine for this quiet stretch of St Marys Street. The menu leans toward sandwiches, pizza, pastries and a different soup each day. Try the Southwestern Pizza (with a black bean base instead of marinara) and his range of hand-created Italian sodas. But dont forget - only open Monday to Friday!
