Love the happy hour! Its definitely not worth it at full price though. Service is one of the worst in town. Seems the servers all dislike each other and really really loathe customers that ask them for simple things like chopsticks if its not the table the server is waiting on.

I had the pork boa, gyoza, and karaage chicken. Sad to say the only thing I liked was the alcohol and servers. The pork boa buns were dry. The bun broke in half and crumbled when I opened it. The honey pork was so overly dry my jaw hurt from chewing. The sides were a mix of different sized cuts (diced onions mixed with julienne onions). The gyoza was okay and piping hot. The curry... I wondered if the sauce was purchased pre-made. The rice was under done and the fired chicken had a uncomfortable amount of fat (uncleaned). I liked the concept from the adds I saw on Instagram but I wont be going back.

My only gripe is they get so busy they cant get to everyone quickly. Ive been a loyal patron since 2020, and l probably keep coming until the place closes or I move. Its just a vibe to get 3.50 sake bombs while watching an old Jackie Chan movie like Operation Condor. Absolutely my favorite bar, I come every birthday, and whenever I get the chance.

Although seemingly hidden away at first, this delightful little spot was a great place to have a few victory drinks to celebrate the end of a long project at work. The in-house cocktails were inventive and enjoyable, and the food was delicious, even if some of the portions felt small. Quiet and cozy when we got there, but likely gets noisy when crowded. Parking: As the website will tell you, they are located in the center of a building complex, with one parking lot on one side of the building and another on the other side of the building. You wont see the name on the building itself, but youll see the name on the signs for the complex -- either parking lot is equally convenient.

I cant have soy and the first time I had sashimi here it was an excellent experience. Came the next time on a Monday night, it was a little busy, and got sashimi again notified the waiter about my allergy etc. I had several drinks so it could have been cross contamination from a glass as well. Slightly delayed reaction, I couldnt sleep all night and had some hives. I know there is always a risk but I dont generally have issues since its just... raw fish... I wont be returning.

Neither the hot lime wings nor the tempura shrimp roll were not good and the rose colored glasses were terrible. The happy hour menu is somewhat limited but has some good options if youre looking for a quick snack and a drink. Youll definitely end up spending quite a bit because the happy hour food isnt too filling but Im sure youll enjoy it! This is the coolest little bar!! It s hidden away from the main road. Seating is first come, first serve. They check IDs at the door. I got the pork gyoza and pork spring rolls. They were each SO flavorful. A little expensive for what it was, though. I think it was like $10 for 4 gyoza and $10 for 2 spring rolls cut in half. Not 100% sure though. The drinks were very unique; I didn t get any bc I m a normie, but they were very cool concepts!

My first visit to Hanzo was an experience I m eager to repeat. Arriving during happy hour, I was pleasantly surprised by the extensive selection of drinks and food, all at unbeatable prices. The atmosphere of the place set the perfect backdrop for what was to become a delightful culinary adventure. Although the food and drinks took a while to arrive, the wait was well worth it. Among the highlights were the spicy edamame, which packed just the right amount of heat, and the pork belly bao. Notably, the bao buns came deconstructed, adding a fun, interactive element to the meal as I got to assemble them myself. This unique touch made the dish even more enjoyable. The sushi rolls deserve a special mention for their deliciousness and freshness. Each roll was a testament to the quality of ingredients and the skill of the chefs, making them a memorable part of the meal. While the wait time might deter some, I see it as a minor hiccup in what was otherwise a flawless dining experience. The quality and value of the offerings during happy hour, combined with the fun of assembling my bao and the excellence of the sushi rolls, are reasons enough to plan a return visit. Next time, I intend to bring more friends to share in the joy of discovering Hanzo s culinary delights. In sum, Hanzo has earned a spot on my list of favorite dining destinations. Its combination of delicious food, great prices, and a charming atmosphere, coupled with the freshness of the sushi rolls and the novelty of deconstructed bao buns, make it a place I ll be talking about for a long time and eagerly anticipating my next visit.

Hanzo is a hidden gem and my go-to spot when Im in Terrell Hills. The primary reason is the staff -- Richard the bartender is incredibly professional and hospitable. I asked him for local recommendations and he was kind enough to write a long list of all his favorite bars and restaurants. These recommendations were important as Google is not helpful in San Antonio -- only the locals will provide the truly good places to eat and drink. I ordered the ramen, and although the broth was delicious, there was something wrong with the noodles -- they were likely overcooked and had a strange, gummy consistency. I assume this wasnt intentional, so I would ask. Otherwise, its always a great experience here between the food, drinks, ambiance and the service.

Used to go here often for Sunday happy hour and I stopped going because the service was questionable. I came back after about a year to see if it had improved, and it was even worse than before. The service is awful. We sat at the bar, and while we got our drink order pretty quickly, it took 30 minutes for someone to acknowledge us again and take our food order. (We had to ask them to order food, they didnt ask us if we wanted anything.) when we ordered our food, the bartender never looked at us, just put our food in and said ok and walked away. Food was pretty decent for the price which is the only reason I was willing to give it another try. The bartenders/servers never talked to us, smiled at us, nothing. My boyfriend kept having to ask for another beer because they weren t paying attention to see his glass was empty. One of the bartenders was kissing another employee behind the bar and completely ignoring patrons to flirt with him. The bar closed at 1:00am, and at 12:00 the menus were rudely snatched away and they were pretty much already done closing the bar down at that time. Was very obvious they didn t want to serve anyone anymore. Horrible experience and definitely won t be giving Hanzo another chance. This used to be a place I loved and recommended to people, btw.

The atmosphere of this place was nice. A bar/sushi restaurant with an anime theme. Though it was weird that the waiter couldnt tell me what anime was on the TV. As well as the waiter being the lowest energy person i have ever met. Now I will say that this place really misuses its space by having way too big of a bar area with out anymore seating than a normal hole in the wall bar. They have tables but very few which means the place fills up fast that you are forced to sit outside totally missing the theme of the place. I feel like it should be a restaurant first that offers cocktail drinks. Then reorganize the seating and space here. Also speaking of the cocktails. The signature drinks were super expensive. For 2 people not having 2 top shelf liquor and drinking their specialty. They were 15 dollars a piece. Ive been to better places with better pricing. Probably wont be back here again

My boyfriend and I came here for our first time really excited to try this place. It s small so it fills up quickly after opening. We waited outside until there was a place to sit for about 45 minutes, no problem. 2 seats became available at the bar top so we go inside to sit. We are stopped by a server who puts her hands in front of the chairs to block them and says sorry someone is sitting here . We look around confused and her coworker comes over and says no it s okay I m about to leave and she asks him are you sure? I m trying to help you out my bf and I stand there still confused and the worker says for us to go ahead and sit because we will definitely spend more than he will .. the server seemed annoyed that we sat there and not him. We weren t greeted for a while but they were very busy as it was a Friday night. We ordered the firecracker shrimp which was amazing! Our bartender seemed to be in a bad mood but after observing the bar I could see that she was the only one actually working so I understand why she was annoyed. Would be 5 stars if it weren t for the strange first encounter with the server.

But once inside, I was greeted by the welcoming staff. During my visit, it was right at opening time, so it wasnt busy at all. I quickly found a seat and asked for suggestions from the wait staff. The food and drinks quickly came out. Everything was great. I definitely recommend coming out and taking advantage of their happy hour. We ate out tonight on 9/3/23 out on the patio. We were honestly a SUPER EASY two top and we didn t ask for much. You could tell the food was very fresh, the flavors were spot on, and it was presented very well. The atmosphere (overall setting of the patio) makes one want to stay and order more drinks and appetizers to snack on long after the entree is done. However, the SERVICE made me want to rush through the food and get the ticket. We felt so unwelcome. He was passive, smug, and very condescending. I NEVER write reviews, but I was so upset and disappointed after how we were treated. The server was doing the bare minimum which would be fine if he was at least NICE, but his attitude was what made me so upset. My friend tipped, but only because leaving zero is like a sin to her. Lastly i tried the Samurai breakfast, which i d give (2/5). The taste was a mixture of bitter and sweet which didnt jive w my taste buds.

Hanzo is a great spot to go for a night out with friends or for a casual date night. While this Asian-inspired bar serves up a variety of drinks (including house cocktails, various sakes, and Japanese beers), they also have a food menu which features items such as bao buns, sushi and more. We tried the fried pork gyoza and 3 sushi rolls- all were absolutely delicious! My husband ordered the Rhubarb G&T but substituted the gin for tequila, and he really enjoyed the unique taste! On a Sunday night around 9pm, this bar was pretty packed and had a diverse group of customers. The service from the staff was excellent and the music and dark lighting created a very relaxing atmosphere. Highly recommend!

Someone recommended Hanzo for happy hour and I stopped by with some friends and we loved it! I had the Fried Tofu Poke Bowl, the Sake Bomb, the Stop Collin me and the Cherry Limeade and it was all delicious. The service was also great, they were very attentive and kind! We asked a billion questions too and they were very patient lol Definitely stop by and check out Hanzo, you won t regret it!

Extremely BAD service, microwaved food, rude bartenders, bouncers with poor atitudes towards customers, below average sushi, and mediocre drinks. If this sounds good to you then look no futher. Pay for ambience and leave disappointed! is the motto of Hanzo. When is Google reviews going to allow negative stars?

Used to love this place over a year ago. I dont know if theyve gotten new management since then, but things have definitely gone downhill. The atmosphere has changed compared to before and their service has gotten pretty slow. It took about 20-25 minutes to get two drinks served on a Sunday afternoon when it was not busy, and the drinks were subpar compared to previous visits. The MAIN REASON, for the 1 star review, is that they got rid of the one and only RAMEN they used to have on the menu. It was easily the best ramen in the entire city and the main reason to go to Hanzo in the first place. Its such a shame..

Awful service. Went in on a Monday, and our waitress kept forgetting everything! Mind you, the night was slow. Asked for soy sauce, eel sauce, utensils MULTIPLE times, and she kept forgetting. Everything we attempted to order from the evening menu they did not have available. Literally everything! When attempting to add an order of Baos, the waitress forgot. By the time she came around, it was passed the menu s time. Just all around terrible experience, will not be returning.

Second time visiting this place and while the happy hour menu is great the service is not so great. Both times we had to wait a while to order our food after our waitress walked past us several times. Drinks were sitting at the bar for a few minutes. We told our waitress we didn t receive part of our order and she insinuated that we were trying to say we hadn t gotten our food after she had confirmed with another waiter that we had when we in fact had only gotten part of our order. We had our meals at least 40 minutes apart at the fault of poor service and our waitress not listening. Never apologized for having us wait. She looked lost and or maybe like she did not want to be there. Was so excited when we found this place only to be disappointed with the worst service. I would rather go somewhere with mediocre food and excellent service. Bye.

HAPPY HOUR! The best for a much lighter fare than we had been eating all week. Punch Drunk Love was amazing. 210 roll was fire! Loved it! Everyone was great... EXCEPT one bus boy/expediter that would just run by and throw your food on the table...dont ask for something extra from this guy...he had to take out his ear piece (for music) just so he could hear me ...not very customer focused. Other than that, Id for sure go back!

Probably one of the best Happy Hours in SATX! Gosh, where to start? The atmosphere, and food ought to be awarded because it is that good! My wife and I stumbled upon it and their offerings are top notch. We enjoyed the drinks and sushi rolls! The service, however, could use some work because we had to wait over 30 mins in between orders since the kitchen was either short staffed or backlogged. I wish it isn t the case for long because the experience was good.

We had an okay experience here. Maybe we were there during a busy evening, so the service was slow. Our table was secretly racing another table to see who would get the attention of a server first. To The pork bao was splendid though. As for the happy hour drinks, not a lot of difference from your typical house drinks, despite claiming unique ingredients on the menu.

Drinks 5/5 Although I came with no intention of getting buzzed, 4 out of the party of 6 got a variety of cocktails and bourbon with ice, who all enjoyed their drinks and had no complaints Food 3/5 Edamame: oddly tasted like it came from the plastic bags you find at the grocery store and steam them in the microwave, was salted like it was an afterthought, and came with sauce I gave a couple of chances on but couldnt recommend Pulled Pork Bao: if you come with no expectations this is the one for you, I oddly dont mean that not even in a negative way. These are not traditional Bao as in Baozi these are bao Buns which is not specified on the menu for some reason, they came not steamed but are warmed up alternately by toasting them which is something Ive never seen before, at this point its very obvious its not a traditional food spot, more like a twist. The disappointing part, was the main part... The pork, which was not pulled, I mean it could have been but what I got was something that resembled and even tasted closer to sloppy joe For what it is, not horrible, but you could down it if you were hungry. I chose to leave it to be picked up after I ate the first one out of two. Gyoza: Yes. Crispy, good flavor, and good sauce. Textbook gyoza here, I would order this again, its nothing to rave about but that this is good solid gyoza, its definitely worth ordering. Wings: good, not dry, the sauce it came covered in felt a touch out of place. But by no means bad, the white sauce it comes to dip with, makes the combo better than just by itself. Id probably order these again, I feel this is more up to your palate, and based on that you might love them. Service 2/5 This is where the bigger problem starts. We had multiple people who were nice and even an order wrong but they corrected it and that was nice, one younger lady held the demeanor of someone who had a grudge towards you, Im generally a very nice person who loves to treat waiters. D waitresses with fairness, I clean up after myself, and tip 30-200% regularly, I keep orders simple, and Im incredibly patient even when orders take forever. Id hate to think the problem was me, trying to ask her a question about the bill she maintained eye contact but kept walking away which felt disrespectful. Throughout the night many efforts to wave her down failed even when she was only 10 feet away. I get it, youre cleaning but dont do it 20 minutes straight and never check on your table until the end of the night. She unfortunately still received a 20% which I shouldnt have given, and even then we gave the band that was playing live music more than our waitress. It wasnt busy on a Friday night around 8:15-9:00, we sat outside for reference. Dear business owners and managers, please get rid of the poisons in your business, its not worth keeping them, especially in the long run.

The good: the inside looks nice, and the tofu was ok, but tofu is hard to mess up. The bad: every thing else. Our service was BAD. I got the coldest pricklies from our server, Jacob, and the other gentleman that ran our food out to us. We ALMOST left when Jacob brought waters to our table without saying anything to us and walkedaway, but we stayed. The food is cheap and mediocre. The pulled pork bao wasnt a bao, and was not good, the gyoza pork was also not good, the menu online is wrong, and the menu is very, very limited. You WILL be disappointed, the 5 star ratings are very misleading, and almost seem like no one has anything to say with those reviews. Dont waste your time.
