This place was a real disappointment. We sat down on the oitside balcony, with a great view of the river. They couldnt make the simple drinks we asked for- said there was no bartender. Said the manager usually fills in, but also was not available. I tried ordering a couple different beers. Waitress kept having to go inside to see if they had it. Each time she cane back ti say they were out of the beer I wanted. We deciddd to pay for our sparkling water and cut our losses. We left and went elsewhere. They seemed like they just didnt know what theyre doing. Poor management, I would presume. Its a great view, bit Id suggest going elsewhere. Too many great restaurants in this area to deal with this place.

The service is outstanding. I came for a conference buffet, but returned for the great drinks, and attentive servers. Angel is amazing. His shift was supposed to end, but he stayed to make sure we were taken care of. He is polite, and has a great attitude. Stop by, you wont regret it.

We came from out of town and just needed to take a break from walking and popped in for just a drink and ended up getting food togo because of the great service. OMG! That Supreme nachos, absolutely delicious and the fajitas, it was damn good! The beautiful scenic view of the river, people passing through, boat passing through, even we had some minstrel played for us, it was amazingly beautiful! The Texas style margarita served in Texas size glass that was the best part of this restaurant, the antique and historic decor which is way older than us was another sight worthy part of this place! Will be back for sure!!

Food is really bad lacking flavor and overall bland. French fries did not have a taste. I got the deluxe brisket with Mac and cheese and the meat contain zero seasoning and the cheese sauce to there macaroni made me queasy. The establishment its self had a basement smell and there bathrooms stunk. Not to mention there were two hustlers there trying to take photos and ask for a song request so they can charge you later for it. Disturbed my dining experience with my family. Overall, not a great dining experience. Try choosing somewhere else to dine at the Riverwalk.

Had a bad experience across the river walk at another restaurant. Trying to ward off the bad energy, myself and my friend walked across to this establishment. Immediately, Black Beard, the bartender was on top of intros, specials, small talk, and all the while having prompt service. Meanwhile, he was handling another 20 top party on the patio. Service is done right here. Stop here and introduce yourself to Black Beard!

The building is amazing. Apparently this is one of the historic gems of San Antonio, built in 1892-93, 50 years before there even was a river walk. I hardly saw the inside until the end of our meal when we went to use the restroom. In my short time walking through I did notice how cool the inside is. Very original. Some may also consider it dated, but dated in a very cool and classy old-fashioned way. The bathrooms were far from nice though. They felt line they were last updated in the 60s. Perhaps they can improve those?!? But it did add to the heritage feel! Now the food was really quite good but the portions were smaller than we expected. When we ordered Supreme Nachos, we expected a large serving that would satisfy our family of 6 (we ordered a few things to share). The portion was so tiny. But divine. Oh it was good. The Brisket & Sausage combo plate was amazing too. Again, a smaller portion than we expected, but oh so yummy and hard to share cuz we all wanted more! For the kids we ordered Fried Chicken Strips and Mac & Cheese. Both were super tasty. What disappointed royally was the vanilla milkshake. The chocolate one was ok. Not amazing but passably good. But the vanilla was terrible. It tasted like they took cheap ice cream and blended it with milk. Nothing more. No syrup or vanilla flavouring. It was terrible. We actually complained (and that is not like us to complain) and our server offered to bring another. This complaint was given before we even had our meals. The new shake was brought out after we were finished the meals a good 30-40 minutes later and were about to pay . But this time we ordered chocolate up at least we didnt risk another bad one. So food and atmosphere was great. But not shakes! Our waitress was okay. She didnt go out of her way to serve. Maybe it was because we were on the river walk and not in the restaurant. But overall it was good enough that we would return if we were locals. Seated on the river at night, watching the boats go by was simply magical. Our own boat driver was the one that recommended this restaurant the night before! Our kids loved the ducks hopping from the river into the walkway around our feet. 6-stars for atmosphere. Food is getting 4 for smaller portions and that shake. Parking: There are parking garages up on the street. Maybe street parking too. I never much paid attention to that. We walked from our hotel.

Chicken fried steak wasn t good at all no flavor tough, bbq sauce too tangy on brisket, sausage tasted like a hot dog, salty beans, river walk drink tasted like watered down orange juice, the only good thing was the children s chicken strips, might as well ordered off the kids menu, but what really pissed me off was the audacity to request a minimum of a 20% tip from both party s, our tip wasn t good enough for her, she bluntly put us on blast tip shaming us in front of our kids, I thought that was very disrespectful, if she would have politely asked us what was the reason or what she could have done better , I woulda forked out cash to appease her, but no your not entitled to anything

You have to come over and enjoy this place next to the Riverwalk in San Antonio. Juan welcomes you in and sits you down wherever you like. LILIAN greeted us faster than fast and helped us order and select our drinks . No rushing and complete patience throughout our stay. MEL the manager is the reason why everyone is so happy and friendly. She is nice to talk to and fast to help out for whatever. Ask for LILIAN inside and drinks some cold ones for a while.

Do not eat here. It was 4th of July weekend so the wait was expected. But the medium well steak that I ordered came beyond well done. So dry and chewy. The burger patty for my kid is so dry and thin. The soda was a small cup and the server didnt even refill them. I am willing to pay $$ for good food but this is just a waste of time and money.

Arrived at a few minutes before 11 p.m. Hostess greeted me gladly and I asked if I could still get a burger to go, she said ,of course, so I entered and sat at the bar. The young hoodlum behind the bar,( bartender?) rudely told me the kitchen was closed!!! Well, I politely asked if they could still make me a burger, the kitchen said yes, I dont think he liked that because the burger I received,to go,was not the one I ordered. I was presented with a bill in a mobile device and said I was paying in cash.., your hoodlum said I couldnt, I wanted a detailed amount for each item I ordered..,so I paid with my card but the tip was included!!! Service was horrible. I was alone and 3 people walked in five minutes after me and had drinks on their table before I got to ask for water. Then the bartender,who was also my server decided to try and get my attention by yelling at me from behind the bar instead of walking up to my table like he did for everyone else. There was a customer in front of him so not only was he yelling towards me but he was yelling in another customers face. I had to wait longer than expected to get my water refilled. 4 different people approached my table. One took my order, another dropped off my food, someone else cleared the table, another came up with a bag of food and asked if I ordered to go as I m clearly taking my first bite. Did I mention they allowed a child to walk around and ask customers who are eating to buy cookies. Worst of all after I finished eating and my plate was cleared the bartender comes up and says is everything good ? I said yes and asked for the check and waited a long time for it. He moved away from the table so fast that he didn t hear me ask for the check so I asked again as he was at the next table. Others were getting their check but I wasn t. Instead of getting the check he reordered my food and a food runner comes to my table with a second meal. When someone asks for a check it s not to check on the food; it s for the bill. How does the waiter not know that I had already eaten? It was not that busy. I had the brisket deluxe burger which comes with Mac and cheese in it. They should take the Mac and cheese off since they put so little on the burger to begin with. Overall this place needs a lot of training on service.

Boy oh boy. First, go see Wil (Blackbeard) at the to go side as he is the best. We were greeted by others, but Wil took it upon himself to just try to help us as we searched for a quick drink at another bar we couldnt find, he saw us in distress looking, and offered to help. It was a moment later we abandoned those plans, and sat down at Wils recommendation, and then abandoned our other restaurant plans all together. We were meant to be here. First, let me tell you, Blackbeard knows his drinks. He hooked us up with a Vodka Martini, with Orange Vodka, then a Peach Soda. Two of the best drinks we had. We started easy with with salsa, guac, and queso with brisket. He then suggested the bison burger, and allowed me to customize to one of the other styles of burger (I mixed the queso burger and the bacon cheese burger) Blackbeard suggested the add-ons of fried onions, and fried Jalapeños, an amazing finish, and likely one of my now top 5 favorite burgers of all time. She had the country fried steak, and you better be hungry. The mashed potatoes finish it off. This steak was tender, full of flavor, and enough for 2. We are sad we are only visiting SanAntonio Riverwalk, because we would likely be back for more weekly. Go by and say Hello to Blackbeard if you see this review, tell him his Jacksonville Florida Eclipse chasers say hello! (Ask him to play some old school music while you are at it! Solid OK. Plus is that it is on the River Walk and seating inside does look out onto the view or you can choose to sit outside right on the rivers edge. We had two sodas, a plain burger with fries on the side and the Beef Street Tacos which comes with beans and rice. $50 with tip. A bit steep for the quality. But youre paying for convenience and location. Do beware though these days in San Antonio - homeless/drug addicts are everywhere. We didnt walk down a single block where we didnt see someone in a drugged stupor on the street or in the stairwells leading to the River Walk. Keep your street smarts turned on and youll be OK.

I bragged to my family about this place. 7 of us went on 3/8 around 2:30. We were sat immediately (it was slow inside as there were only 2 tables sat besides ours). Then nothing. Many people walked by and looked.at us as well as bartender. After.15 minutes we left. We wont go back.

Brisket & Sausage Combo? I had a margarita. Brisket, super delicious. The margarita came in a huge glass and was so big that no matter how many times I drank it, it wouldnt go down. The Texas-style bearded man who served me was not very friendly, but he was frank and had good customer service for someone like me who is not good at high-tempered servings. The interior of the restaurant is bright and has a variety of customers including families, couples, and solo customers, and a Mexican music band plays around the tables. I declined, but the other tables were excited about Besame Mucho. This store was a big hit.

I recently booked The Republic of Texas to cater a cocktail cruise run through Go Rio and I would definitely recommend them! Kacie was super helpful with it all - she made getting everything booked easy and was very quick with her responses! She put together a menu of fun local drinks and some snacks that were perfect for our group. I ordered the street taco, that were supposed to come with green and red salsa, little did I know the red salsa is the same one that comes with the chips chips and salsa that I order as an appetizer but never got. First we arrived and both the men s and women s restrooms had NO SOAP, so staff was NOT washing their hands. The mac and cheese on kids menu came out looking like something that was reheated from 2 weeks ago, was nasty. Then there was A HAIR in one of the burgers that was ordered at our table. Wait wait wait. Wait to be seated wait for your food and wait for it to taste good. Waited an hour to be seated it happens it s a Saturday night. Ok I get it. Ordered guacamole tasted like packaged avocado gross. Family of five we waited almost an hour for our food it was lost and given to someone else. Manager gave me a 10% discount what an insult. He noted it as military discount. I said nope I ll pay half the cost. The food is so bland. Guacamole is frozen pre packaged gross. Burger was good, corn dog was good, beef fajitas were chewy dry gross and my chicken fried steak I had to put some hot sauce on it to give it some flavor. Nice atmosphere but will not be returning. I waited so long to finally try it and this happens. The waitress was so nice felt bad for her. The managers need to go. Kid-friendliness: Good kids menu which taste better than their entrees

We did our research before walking a 1/2 Mile to enjoy my 50th birthday dinner here. We show up at 7:30 PM to eat just to find locked doors. According to their hours, they are open until 11pm. In our opinion quite overpriced, if you consider the dishes we tried. Good, but not like tried in other restaurants (perhaps less touristy) in other areas of Texas. Friendly service, in winter outdoor tables with heat lamps. On the riverwalk, like many others in the area with the highest number of clubs. It is still recommended if you want to eat on the riverwalk.

That being said, the food is okay if you set your expectations right. There were some performances at night when we went on Saturday. Make sure not to sit next to the amplifier. The waiter served us extremely poorly, with a terrible attitude and was very eager to collect his tip now. Had dinner here tonight with my family. The kids corndog and fries came mushy and cold and cooked in some very greasy cooking oil. Was $7.The brisket I ordered was dripping in grease. The salad I ordered had raw cabbage in it but didnt list on the menu. (I cant have raw cabbage) had the BBQ platter was average and my husband ordered the chicken sandwich. 12/14/2023 We had lunch and wow our food was amazing the ribeye was very tender, seasoned perfectly and great taste. It was just wow good. Oh my goodness, ive been coming here for so long with my family, and today we returned! Greeted at the front entrance by Genesis, who would actually turn out to be our server. Ive always enjoyed the ribeye, so thats what my son and I got! Melts in your mouth and served hot to enjoy the water, which provides a little cooler atmosphere should you choose to sit outside.
