Jelly does decent work but fails miserably in her ability to work with customers. Ive tipped her for both tattoos, sent my friends to her and treated her with nothing but patience and respect. ONLY, for her to treat me with absolute contempt when I walked in for my 3rd consultation. She claims its a private studio but shows no grace or loyalty to her returning customers. Her consultation system is also VERY flawed and difficult to schedule if you work a normal day job. Her inconsistent yet strong devotion at times to her policies makes for an unpleasant experience. Response: Your eradic reply only further proves my point that you are unstable and fluctuate when to enforce your precious policies. For 2 tattoos i have paid you in full with a nice tip might I add. My second tattoo you voluntarily waived the deposit, so for my third I assumed the deposit was only for first time clients. When you told me this was not the case, I asked for 5 minutes of grace to walk across the street to the ATM and that wasnt good enough.. You wanted me to schedule another consultation slot which is very difficult for anyone who works a normal job to make. Learn to have loyalty towards your returning clients. 3rd Response: 6ft3, 215 lbs. is little to you? LOL Your absurd reaction tells everyone what they need to know. Calling names and attempting to mislead, classy. It appears I was right. Caught you on a bad day and you were called out on your actions. Now youre triggered. Tough. P.s. I would love to hear more about how you were treated. 4th response: Personal attacks and finger pointing, no true substance to your childish responses. If you would have just taken accountability we both would have forgotten about this by now. Instead, youre too deep into it and must claim Im lying to try and save your image lol.. As for my luck elsewhere, Ive had nothing but excellent experiences with other artists and studios since...hmm wonder whats different. P.s. Keep getting triggered and owning it, my review is staying at the very top because of it. We should keep it at the top so people think twice about whether or not respect and emotional stability is important to them when choosing an artist. Quick question: Why would a person who has paid in full and on time with a good amount extra refuse to give a deposit the 3rd time? Answer: Jelly woke up on the wrong side of the bed that day and is unwilling to admit her faults.

Even though my body and mental health may have made it difficult for me to go through with my tattoo process, she did a very good job of giving me what I wanted. She made sure I was 100% okay before continuing my tattoo. She made my spine tattoo experience a good one. I m so glad I went to her for this tattoo, as other artists may have not wanted to tattoo me after how difficult it takes to tattoo me . Jelly is by far the best tattoo artist in San Angelo. She brings something new to this boring West Texas area. She s got experience from New Orleans and it shows in her work! She has a very light hand and she s fast. I felt comfortable and safe knowing I was around someone who respectedMe as a customer but mostly as a person. Other tattoo shops can sometimes be really unprofessional especially if you re a young female. I once had to sit through six hours of My artist cussing and talking to the other tattoo artists while getting cat calls from the other room. Jelly has a private studio and she doesn t have anyone else other than the customer in her shop while tattooing. She isn t distracted and focuses on nothing but the tattoo process. She has a grueling prep routine where everything is cleaned and sterilized and prepared so that when she starts tattooing she doesn t waste time. Aside from being an amazing artist she is just a pretty damn cool person to Spend hours with while getting inked. I highly recommend!

I ll be going back, and I ve already made recommendations to several of my inked friends. Jelly and her other artist (I forgot her name I m blaming adrenaline) were professional, kind, and accommodating. My design wasn t big or elaborate, but it was important to me, and Jelly did a fantastic job She also never made me feel like my small tattoo was a waste of time (some of my friends have experienced this with other artists in town). I got exactly the work and experience that I wanted.

I was convinced no one would ever be able to fix/bring my poppy flower to life. I went to Jellys for a consultation for something different but I asked about this tattoo anyway and when she showed me what she had in mind, I asked how soon I could get in. Jelly did a tat on my hip a couple days ago. I greatly underestimated the pain of this placement. I was jumping and yelling and had to take breaks often. Despite me making it difficult, Jelly did a remarkable custom piece that is every bit as good as the $2,500 I have on my sleeve. Im not going to anymore big cities and paying ridiculous prices. Ill go to Surly Skull from now on.

I have both been blessed and cursed. I have been blessed with a job that allows me to travel, a lot. I have been cursed with the addiction of getting inked. I have gotten several tattoos in six different locations, four states and two countries. That been said I have never come across an artist who worries more about attention to detail, picky-ness, cleanliness and customer satisfaction more than making any money out of it. If and when I do get more ink on me, if it is not by the hands of Jelly it will not happen. Period. On a plus side, offering free touch-ups! If that does not scream confidence on quality and satisfaction then what does?

She was the only artist here in town that I truly felt like cared about the end result & tattoo I would be living with for the rest of my life!! My experience with Jelly and The Surly Skull Tattoo Studio began in 2016 when I finally decided to get my first tattoo. I set up a consultation with Jelly so we could discuss ideas, placement and design. In my first meeting with her, Jelly was so personable and kind to me. By the end of the meeting, she seemed just as excited as I was to get the piece done! I feel like the tattoo industry is filled with a lot of great people, but there are also those who see it as a means to an end and a way to make money. Jelly isnt like that at all. She cares so much that her clients get exactly the tattoo that they want, and its so important to her that they leave her studio happy with the end result of her hard work. And let me tell you from experience, you will always leave happy with her work. Since that first tattoo with Jelly, Ive gone on to get three more pieces from her that I truly love, and plan to have much more done in the near future. Not only that, but Jelly has also tattooed several pieces for every member of my family, and weve all left amazed at her incredible talent and are often stopped by strangers so they can marvel at her artistry. I cant tell you how many of her business cards Ive handed out after singing her praises! Another important factor I want to discuss is the professionalism of this establishment. Ive never seen a tattoo artist or studio care so much about cleanliness and the health and safety of their clients. Jelly takes such good care of you, and you always know youre in good hands when you come to the Surly Skull. She arms you with the proper information to take care of your new tattoo afterward, too. Ive been to several studios with friends and relatives in the past who will just send you on your way after theyve been paid. Jelly isnt like that at all. She makes sure you know the proper precautions and methods to take care of your tattoo in order to keep it clean and looking good in the future. I couldnt possibly recommend Jelly and this studio more. This studio is a breath of fresh air in this industry. Comfortable, clean, client-focused, creative and considerate. I intentionally waited 2 weeks to write my review to let my ink heal and to wait for the Euphoria of a new tattoo to die down. With that being said, it was an amazing experience. Jelly was super knowledgeable and skilled and it shows in my tattoo and I had a wonderful time while getting she designing it and while it was being put on me. Highly skilled artists (especially Brannon) Not your basic flash on the wall tattoo studio. My artist was able to take my basic idea and refine it until I had a gorgeous piece full of meaning completely unique to me. If you want something truly personal, created for you and you alone, I cant recommend enough. If you want your basic infinity symbol/anchor declaring you wont sink/or feathers breaking off into birds, well...you may want a more generic tat studio.

For the last 6 years I have had an abomination of a sleeve. It was terrible. It was embarrassing and unprofessional looking. This was hands down the best place Ive gotten a tattoo from. Rob did such an amazing job and made me feel welcome the whole time I got my sternum piece. Would highly recommend these guys to anyone whose looking for good quality work and great atmosphere!

I have gone to Rob for 2 big pieces now and he has not let me down. Great guy, great work. Shop is always immaculate and he and Jelly make you feel very welcomed. Highly recommend both artists. Love this place.

Their skilled hands and relentless press towards their passion seeps from the very walls of their studio.
