I disagree with the companies policy for veteran discounts. (Veterans worked 24/7. The discount is only on 3 holidays, thats ridiculous), but the store itself is a great store. The employees are always sweet, knowledgeable

Apparently they dont know what theyre doing price says one thing rings up as another and when they see the tag is what I said it was they said they still have to put it for what it was rang up for if its advertised as one thing should match what the price says and not tell someone youre not going to match what the price tag says

Academy used to be really well-organized with lots of knowledgeable staff to help. I cant say that anymore. The shoe section, in particular, is a mess. There were models on display we couldnt find on the shelf, and models on the shelf that werent on display. There were plenty of staff milling around, but none looking even remotely interested in helping customers. And the new checkout line just isnt better. It moves quicker than youd expect, but the image of a line snaking around the store is daunting and unpleasant. I liked the old system better Really sad to see such a Texas institution in decline. Heres hoping its just this one location.

I have been shopping at Academy all my life. Hands down this store in San Angelo is the worse. All departments picked over. Unfolded clothes in all departments. Shoe department was the worst! No selection in the summer time for flip flop and saddles. Empty shoe boxes everywhere. Don t even get me started on the new check out..:I spent more time in line than shopping. The check out is so bad. Come on Academy I know you can do better.

As has been my experience with other Academy stores, the shoe department looks like a tornado went through. The poor clerks were trying though. Im hard to fit and I know it, so shoe shopping is always somewhat of an Easter egg hunt. It would have been easier if the sections for men, women etc had some sort of signage. The clearance section was a total mess. That said, I did find shoes finally!

The gun counter salesman was extremely rude. Very unprofessional. We stood bt counter for 5 to 10 minutes waiting for service. He was standing there with another sales person at registers. When we requested help he said he was busy. Asked how long it would be and he said, As long as it takes. Very rude.

I really love Academy, but the shoe section needs major help! I bought a pair of shoes about a month ago here for my son, and we spent about 45 minutes rifling through boxes until we found his size. Today we came in to buy a pair of shoes for our other kid and had a very similar experience. The employees seem to try to rectify the situation by just telling us to order the shoes online. Finally, an Academy that has an employee behind the gun counter that has actually fired a gun. Usually, in at least half of the Academy stores across the southeast United States, the person behind the gun counter doesnt know the difference between a magazine,a newspaper, or a clip. I can not be blamed for the fact that half of the people that come up to the gun counter and ask to see a gun hold their guns sideways. Dont lump everybody together. Not only does the new,( to me) treat me respectfully, and not as a potential criminal, I have actually carried on a friendly and amusing Firearms related conversation with him between customers. Just like the good old days of your friendly neighborhood gun store. And yes, there are other parts of the store too. Or so I hear. LOL

Wow i was not expecting the store to look like a tornado hit it. I dont know if its because its so close to Christmas or what. Worst-managed Academy that I have ever been to. I have personally bought the last unit of an item several times in the last several months and none of the products have been re-stocked. The workers are never around to help and would rather stand around talking. The inventory information on the website is never accurate for this store. Other Academys are much better. I have shopped at this store for years but will be taking my business elsewhere.

Sales are not good, the store is an absolute wreck inside. So much disorganization. Clothes brands are all mixed up in wrong sections. The sizes are not orderly and completely mixed around from plus and regular sizes. Styles are not organized together, this store has gone downhill overtime. Id give the customer service a good 3.5/5. Id say its better to order clothes online from the brands website and get discounts that way too. Or go to Marshalls where the same styles are offered at much more affordable prices. (Only referring to clothing). The items and selection of items is great for sports goods.
