Our server was nice, checked on us often, and refilled our drinks promptly. The restaurant is lovely inside with lots of natural light. The salsa and chips were great. That is the extent of the good unfortunately. The queso was bad, it tasted like chicken broth with canned nacho cheese? My boyfriend enjoyed it though. I ordered the shredded chicken quesadilla. I m not sure if it was canned chicken or rotten or something but it tasted truly awful. I scraped it all off and just ate the tortilla and cheese. Weeks later I still can t forget that taste. Rice was good but dry. I thought the beans were alright - they definitely taste like canned refried beans. Boyfriend tried one taste and his stomach hurt for hours after. My boyfriend ordered the chicken calavasa, it was good but he thought it was bland. There was almost no seasoning and there seemed to be about 2 whole onions worth on the plate with a little chicken and zucchini on the side. The chicken in this dish was edible, unlike the chicken from the quesadilla. It needed more flavor but was not bad. I would not recommend this restaurant and would not come back.

A class act in a remodel/renovation! Olivia and John have done an amazing job with making the restaurant feel both open and inviting. The front room can serve as a private event space and/or meeting room. Service was amazing- all staff were very attentive and pleasant. Food came out very quickly, and always hot. But the guiso burrito? Divine, soft, succulent, but at the same time not heavy. I don t know how they did it, but that is how I want all my burritos to be from now on. Please pay them a visit!

The brisket queso was great! Great location downtown and cool old building, but the beef carnitas was served raw. I ordered medium and this was beyond rare it was cold raw beef folks. They made me another one but we were already on the way out the door because everyone else finished eating at our table. I was still charged for my dish, but I didn t say anything because that should be a proactive gesture from a restaurant when a situation likes this happens.

Before I start I would like to say that the waiter was really good. When I went to the restaurant they sat myself and the family in a room off to the side where there was nobody there. There were tables available in the main area. I sat there and finally figured out that the only people in the main area where white. Not sure what s going on there but I could give a really good gues. They started sitting people there only after I asked, what was the reason that I was sat at the timeout area, which I didn t really get a truthful answer. As for the food it was ok at best. I would not go there unless you like the segregation. Mr Fuentes, I hope your restaurant has many more years to come. All I m commenting about is the perception of three people sitting there. As I stated before several people were in the main seating area and we were the only ones seated in the overflow, extra room or whatever it is called. When I asked even the waiter said I ll ask why. I was told that there is a rotation. Several people in the main seating area and only one family in the empty separate room did not make sense. I sat there and watched more people get seated in the main area after I was already seated. Yes I was given the opportunity to move after I said something about it. Please don t question my character as you don t know me. I simply stated what we saw and felt. And as I stated before your waiter was really good and he is the only reason why we just didn t get up and leave. If you knew that I had such a question while you were there as the owner, you or your manager could have came out and cleared it up but you chose to ignore it. I might not be in that business but I am a customer. Have a great night and I wish you and your restaurant the very best.

The food here is always top notch. They can cook with the best of the restaurants in the San Angelo area. They have a more open design for seating. This gives you a better feel of space instead of just feeling jammed into a small space while trying to enjoy your food. The wait staff is always polite and responsive. The food took a little longer this time than usual and it was slow lunch time. So this was unusual and why I am giving them a 4 out of 5 on service. Parking: Location is in downtown San Angelo, so it is timed parking during the work days but it is a 3 hr limit before ticketed. It is street parking. There is a free parking garage that is in the middle of downtown, but it isnt too close but not too far from Fuentes. Wheelchair accessibility: There is corner street access for wheelchairs to get on the sidewalk and it is a flat entryway to get in the restaurant

The food is delicious! I had Chicken Calabasa. The service is excellent. The space is very crowded and loud. We had a party of approx. 17 and we were packed like sardines on a table that had room for a comfortable 10 people. The private room was $100 extra. I could barely hear the person next to me and she was very close.

I havent been here since before the remodel, and man i missed it! Not only does the place look AMAZING now, but their waitstaff is truly awesome. We had a going away party in the separate room, and the man at the front and the waitress were so helpful. We needed a small table for gifts and he went out of his way to get it. Our group was mostly deaf individuals and the waitress was so patient and tried her best to understand even though she didnt know sign language. Great place!!

I have been to San Angelo a thousand times each of my adult years(which is a lot) and I can t understand why I have never tried this place until now. This is very good food. Fresh, hot and fast , I couldn t believe how authentic it was. The hot sauce had a good bite to it , the beans had great flavor and the enchilada sauce was as authentic as it comes. The rice wasn t my favorite but I didn t care. I could do without the Guiso Burrito next time. Although the meat was extremely tender, it was very big chunks and over seasoned for my taste. The two fresh homemade tacos made this a perfect lunch. As good as the food was, the service was better. Our waitress was tremendously nice and attentive. She was always Jonny on the spot , drinks were never empty and checked on us the entire visits. What a great attitude. I was here for a work lunch break, I can t wIt to bring the wife here, she will love it. Parking: During lunch hours it is full so parking is a bit hard to find. Plenty down the street but on a hot day it s no fun to walk.

The food is consistently good and servings are generous. Although last time I got the chicken calavasas it was just a chicken breast on top of the zucchini instead of strips cooked with it which wasn t nearly as good. Hopefully it was a one time thing and not a permanent change (pretty please). But try the calavasas, best zucchini dish EVER!Love their enchiladas and that you can get grilled or fried fish tacos. Their salsa and beans are always on point Last time I went the waiter was pretty flirty. Considering I haven t been cute in a decade or two, I m guessing someone was short on rent or student loan money. I wasn t offended or flattered, just puzzled. Industry hint: red lipstick on the ladies and a touch of black eyeliner for the guys (yes, even straight guys) is proven to up tips without risking offending anyone. UPDATE: seems they are making the chicken calavasas differently now, it s ok, just not wonderful anymore. The chicken pieces used to be juicy, delicious, plentiful and cooked with everything else. Now it s just a much smaller portion grilled then thrown on top. Shrinkflation?

Our server Anistyn was attentive and pleasant. However, I had ordered a cocktail and she brought me one stating they had made it differently than usual and if I didnt care for it I could send it back. To say the least, I definitely had to send it back! The only fault of hers, I would say, was bringing it to me in the first place, knowing that it was incorrect. The restaurant itself and the ambience are absolutely lovely! However, and this is where my rating comes into perspective, the food was almost inedible. The beans tasted rotten along with the guacamole. We had two orders of the Acapulco, which stated it came with two chalupas. Upon arrival, it came with two tostadas. We also had an order of the brisket tacos. The brisket was very dry and hard. The beans had such a strong sour taste to them I was afraid to eat them. I know now I should have asked for the manager to have a discussion about the quality of the food but at the time neither of my lunch companions were feeling well so we left as quickly as possible.

This place has gotten more expensive then I remember. My mom ended up. Burning her hand . They need to put something on their hot plates so this dont happen again. My mom ordered the fajita plate the tortillas were hard we both got tea mine was sweet hers was not but mine was not as sweet as I thought it would be. The tortillas that my mother got were hard when we told the waitress that they were hard she says let me take them back and see what I can do. She came back with two tortillas that were soft and the last one was not. I will not recommend this place to a person that comes to our town because of the fact that they have poor service and people that work there do not have any consideration for anybody.

I am very picky about my Mexican food and this exceeded all my expectations. If you are wondering should I? The answer is yes! The salsa wasnt too weak or too spicy- it was perfect! The queso is the best Ive had, hands down. The sour cream enchiladas were amazing- even the sweet tea was spot on! The atmosphere and service was delightful. I would highly recommend Fuentes!

Nothing here blew me away, but this restaurant is good, solid Mexican/Tex-Mex for a very reasonable price. Our waitress was very nice and engaging. One thing they did well was the speed of service: I dont think it took more tgan five minites to get our food! This is because they have a wireless ticket system; the moment the waitress puts in your prefer, the kitxhen gets it without any lag time. I had the grounf beef flautas, which were good. My friend had a shrimp burrito, which was definitely above average. We had the tres leches cheescake for dessert, which was quite good. Overall, I do like tgis place and would return in the future.

Came to Angelo in late 2019 stationed at Goodfellow. We had Fuentes slotted as a last stop town favorite for lunch. They were not prepared for the group...less than impressed. Took a little over an hour for everyone to get food. Fast forward, Septemeber 2022, came in later in the evening requested a booth, was seated and promptly served. Brought back hope as a new place on the venue of rotations. Walk in 23 December 2022, 2 days before Christmas. Request a booth, plenty are open. Hostess states she is not sitting them at a booth. Then we are taken to some front wierd sectioned off area with only tables and asked to be seated underneath the TV everyone is watching... just walked out, do not waste your time or money on Fuentes. Paisanos, Armentas, and Francos are all just as good and more humble. I work in the service industry...simple concept...happy customers, larger tips, better reviews...everyone ends up happy. How do we get to you yes? Think about it if you are in the customer service world. Easiest concept ever!

Being from Lubbock this place was a revelation I discovered while looking for the movie The Birth and History of Western Swing ( think Bob Wills Billy Mata and Jody Nix). One of the most enjoyable dining experiences Ive ever had. Loved the open ambiance and light. Darla was a fabulous server. Very professional, attentive and accommodating. Major kudos to her. And my chicken fajitas were simply the best in Texas and thereby the world. Also enjoyed sweet tea with lime (called manna in the Bible, tee hee) fresh guacamole, delicious queso with a bit of taco meat and salsa. Amazingly fast service and very generous portions. Having my left overs for breakfast today. This place is EWEP. Excellent Worth Every Penny. If you go, ask for Darla, and tell her Catfish said hello.

As someone who came from California and experienced a different type of Mexican food, this food was new and good. I love the authenticity, and it s something I am open to sharing more. The only downfall was we saw a fly in our drink and decided to return at another time, not so close to closing.

I ve been living in San Angelo for two years now & this was my first time eating at Fuentes! The atmosphere was marvelous, & my server, Monique (I believe was her name) was very attentive, & worked at a great pace! I had the carnitas plate, and it was delicious! Definitely a great place to stop by with family & friends when you re searching for restaurants here in San Angelo!

Strange tasting street tacos. I assume they were microwaved, because by the time I started on the 2nd and 3rd one, the tortillas had cooled and became tough as shoe leather.
