First time visit. Live in the area for years but rarely try the locals near. This place is s good choice if you want authentic mexican food. Family owned ,Hand made tortillas & sreet tacos were really good. Plus staff was friendly. Prices were good as well. Less than the TexMex places. Parking: Rowlett. Hwy 66 across from Champion Nails in a ceter with other eateries. Plenty of parking Kid-friendliness: Its ok to dine with children. Kids menu as well.

If you judge a Mexican restaurant by the chips and salsa, dont. Wait, hear me out! The food, service, and drinks are amazing. Truly. Fresh tortillas as well. The ONLY downside is the chips. They are baked and overcooked. But order tortillas and butter instead and dip them in the salsa. So good! They just added a spicy cucumber marg to the menu, and it is so delicious. Like, Glorias level good. Please visit them! The flavor and options are so incredible and the service was on top of everything. We will finely be adding this one to the regular rotation.

I like the breakfast! Not a fan of the live music on the weekends. Its not really a place to drink and listen to live music. Update: I understand inflation, but prices are just not worth it in my opinion. 11 for mediocre chilaquiles isnt worth it. Pre covid they were 8 or 9 bucks. Coffee isnt good here. Ive had the bisteak and the guisado and they are both pretty good, so is service and atmosphere is pleasant and clean. I wont be back for breakfast though.

I still would like to give 5 stars. We did need to order softer enchiladas, the corn tortillas were hard, but they brought another plate right away. We ordered churros and sopapias which were nice and hot but no Cinnamon and sugar sprinkled on them. And was charged a Food Tax. Im not aware of having had that any restaurant that Ive been but maybe its a Rowlett thing. Overall, the food was great, the little kids behind us were soooooo adorable and our server was quick to bring the items. I was happy to dine there and meet up with old friends. Vegetarian options: Chile relleno sin carne

The food is not good. My husband and I each ordered the huevos divorciados, needless to say the chilaquiles were not your traditional Mexican chilaquiles they were little tortilla strips that I could count. The menudo was awful the meat looked old and the broth was way over seasoned it had more of a birria broth taste (do not recommend) the coffee was so bitter and had the taste of old coffee that was just sitting out all day. My sons pancakes were very chewy. The chips were a little stale too. I was very disappointed as we have came previously and it was good. Unfortunately we will not be returning and will just make the drive to mesquite or Dallas for some good Mexican food.

The overall of this restaurant is very nice maybe they were just having an off day in the kitchen. Food - the queso tasted like kraft Mac and cheese melted cheese (my daughters words) the chips where hard but once you added lime and salt they were really good with the salsa. My daughter did not like the enchiladas because of the queso but she ripped them open and at the beef inside and said it was pretty good. The chicken fajitas had a slight taste from the cast iron skillet still and definitely could have used a bit more seasoning. Service - phenomenal Atmosphere- only because they had some maintenance issues happening it took away from the great place

TVs on every wall really makes the place look cheap.... And it is. Overpriced for the quality of the food. The salsa was good and the chicken fajitas were decent. The corn tortillas seemed homemade and were very good. Guacamole tastes like it came out of a bag. The queso was like a watered down version of what you get in a gas station. It tasted processed and gross. Rice and beans were bland. Overall it was like cafeteria Mexican food from the 80s. Service was good.

Amelia s Mexican Restaurant puts the home in Homemade! The super soft and tasty tortillas are the best in DFW. The welcoming atmosphere and friendly staff make dining here a pleasure. Bryan was our waiter and he guided us through the menu to order exactly what matched our taste. The fajitas, chile Relleno, and deep fried chimichanga were prepared perfectly. The only negative was the chips and salsa. Specifically, the chips were hard as a rock. The salsa had a sweetness not typical of tex mex standards . Don t get me wrong ,they were satisfactory, just not my style. The bar was good and happy hour all day Tuesday was a bonus this initial visit. This is a well run family business and you will notice it in every detail. The Rowlett community has a fine Tex Mex establishment to enjoy. If in the area make sure you stop by. It s worth the trip.

ONLY thing good was the chips and salsa. My plate was NOT what they claim to sell. U dont put crackling out of a bag and add green salsa on top and call it a dish. The side of guacamole was not even a side of guacamole, it was a heavy bed of lettuce and a small scoup of guacamole. There queso is soupy and with no flavor, we dressed it at our table so that we could have flavor to it. The other 2 dishes ordered were left due to over salted and greasy egg batter on a relleno. Plz dont spend your time or hard earned money at this location unless you have a bad pallet for food. First and last time ever going there!!!!

My recent visit to Amelias Restaurant was a delightful experience, especially with their tortilla chips on the menu. The tortilla chips at Amelias were a perfect start to the meal, freshly made and perfectly crispy, with just the right amount of salt. Each chip was a delicious vehicle for scooping up their flavorful salsa and creamy guacamole. The casual and inviting ambiance of Amelias, coupled with the friendly service, made for a wonderful dining experience. If youre looking for a tasty snack to start your meal, Amelias tortilla chips are definitely worth trying.

The food isn t great but even more so the service and the owner are terrible. We ordered a margarita to be made with a specific kind of tequila and instead they gave us a house margarita which is premixed and added the tequila we wanted to that. We didn t find out about this until we got the check and saw we were being charged twice for the house margarita and the specified tequila we wanted. When we talked to whom I assume is the owner because her name was Amelia I told her I was concerned that she just fed me twice the alcohol I asked for without my knowledge. She seemed to think this was funny, smirking and laughing about it. I told her how this could be dangerous seeing as how I basically had 4 drinks instead of 2. I m an adult, I know my limit on drinks and I know that anything more than 2 will make me sick and that s exactly what happened. As I was attempting to have a conversation with her about this she smirked and just kept asking if I was done with my plate, completely disregarding my concerns. I will not return due to the fact that alcohol isn t something to be played with and you do not know what you ll be drinking and on top of that the food really isn t that great.

The service wasnt bad. They gave chip crumbs. When we asked for more, they arrived after our meal came. I ordered beef tacos with rice and beans. The beans didnt have a single solid bean in it. That was bean soup. I couldnt even eat it with the fork they provided. The QR code menu said the meal was $17. When we received our bill, we were charged $3 more. When I asked why, Amelia said that the $17 is the starting price. No where on the menu did it state that. She couldnt find it on there either. She said she didnt see that well... She went and got an old paper menu from the back to show me. I kindly reminded her that wasnt the menu I was provided to order from. I couldnt believe she wanted to argue with me about the $3 that was clearly her error. What she should have done was apologize, give the money back, and correct her menu. It was a terrible first-time experience. I wont go back, nor will I recommend.

I always order 2 large menudos to go, last price was $56.00 and good food is expensive and I have no problem paying for it, but the last two times that I have ordered, the amount of meat was so little that it was ridiculous. Not a happy customer anymore. That place was nasty, the hardest chips and watery salsa. The food was all nasty. The owner didn t seem to care that nobody at the table didn t like any of the food. She gave us chili and called it mole. There is just too much to say about this place, that s not even going in detail about the add gratuity for 8+ party policy they do.

Wanted to enjoy a nice Mothersday lunch and the food was flavorless I sent my sour cream enchilada plate back because it was watery and smelled spoiled , ordered cheese enchiladas with fajitas on top and the cheese sauce was so watered down I was very disappointed I didnt even touch my plate I tried to at least eat one enchilada and couldnt stomach the rest I told the manager who I believe was the owner and she didnt even care I sent my whole plate back I didnt even take it home and was still charged full price I will never eat there again. I can see where they were cutting corners not to mention they had a limited menu. The tortilla chips are so thick and hard they will poke your gumbs if you have sensitive Gumbs dont eat them. This place is not authentic Mexican its bad tex mex.

The staff is courteous. The only enjoyable part of the meal was the salsa verde, beans and rice. The Queso Flameado was like paste. I do not recommend their spinach or brisket enchiladas at all. Very disappointed with the meal overall.

I WANT EVERYBODY TO KNOW THEY ADD 20% GRATUITY TO PARTIES OF 8 OR MORE. Remember it and don t forget it. Doesn t matter if you didn t read the fine print on the menu, you have to download on your phone, or the website you never visited. Doesn t matter if you order chicken fajitas, chewy and not well seasoned, and get the tortillas 10 minutes later. Or can literally drink the queso that won t stay on the thickest tortilla chips we ve ever had a Mexican restaurant. Doesn t matter that the waiter didn t feel the need to mention that 20% gratuity ($8.20) is included in the total or when he picked up the check and noticed an additional $9.42 on the tip line he might want to make sure that that is what the customer intended. This is not what the customer, myself, intended. The customer who left a 23% tip for mediocre service and average food because this customer was in the restaurant business years ago and doesn t know how the recent pandemic has changed the business. The customer who didn t put his glasses on to see every line item but noticed the larger, bolder total that needed to be paid. The customer who spoke with the manager 3 days later and her comment was, Am I supposed to tell the waiter to give it back? In the end, did I lose or did the restaurant lose because we will not visit again? Life is too short, go or don t go, I don t care.

I was recommended to the place and was not disappointed. Staff was friendly, attentive and took time to explain the dish for questions I had. Mole was very good. I never had this dish before and I really liked it. The bunch of spices it has brings a lot of flavors and send you in deep thoughts where I closed my eyes and just enjoyed every piece. It was good. Salsa was very spicy for me. I asked for something milder and got green salsa which was equally spicy if not more. I got tears from the heat and that s why four stars. Wish the salsa could be milder and I could enjoy the taste rather than burning my tongue and throat from the heat. Can t wait to try their Chicken Fajitas now and for sure I will be back.

Our waiter was good and attentive and they had live music that actually played some great songs. We had the fajitas and I found them to be large in quantity but small in taste. Just didnt taste like they were seasoned at all. We also paid extra for a guacamole appetizer and it came out in three little ice cream scoops on a bed of lettuce which isnt how Im used to seeing a side of guacamole that you pay for. Definitely was not worth the six or seven dollars they charged. The setup that came with the fajita had a small dollop of sour cream, pico de gallo and guacamole on a very large bed of lettuce really wasnt even enough for one fajita let alone three or four. Paid for a side of cheese since it did not come with a fajitas which in itself is unusual and it was of sufficient size to Warrant the charge. Also had two glasses of wine and the pours were ample and well worth the $6 charged each

It appears that management doesnt monitor their reviews due to no replies. I almost left when they brought chips & salsa to my table because the chips were so thick & hard I thought it could chip my teeth! There are multiple reviews about the hard chips but apparently they arent concerned about those complaints. With that said, the service & ground beef enchilada plate I ordered were good, as well as the salsa & queso but THOSE CHIPS! UGH.

I never really liked this place to begin with but gave it a try once again and do I regret it!! Tortilla chips are too thick and hard, enchiladas had some dried up sour cream sauce on them and I asked for queso sauce on my enchiladas only to see it was only melted cheese not queso smh you need a knife and fork to cut up those hard thick tortillas they use. This is not Mexican food lol margarita didn t even have salt and lime on it but I guess because they were short staffed. Should ve just grabbed some Taco Bell I guess it was the only place that wasn t packed and now I see why!!

I ordered a seafood broth. In the description it says that it has fish and shrimp and other seafood. It only had two small pieces of fish. It didnt have shrimp and it had a lot of tomato, also a lot of bell pepper and too much onion. The seafood broth was bad.
