The worst experience 3rd time in the row.Very RUDE cleark after 6 months of waiting for appointment we finally got provisional license we come today for road test and license after driving 45 min and cleark said he check for 1st time licence instead of clas c and turn.us away from appointment waiting for 2 months.Now go private for road test since THIS IS COMPLETE INSANITY and then schedule to bring paperwork in other 2 months all together 1 yr to get drivers license in Texas with no restrictions and this is the worst experience I ever had in USA with my first born generation of USA citizens.The system of 3 appointments 1.get provisional license 6 months process 2.take road test 2 months wait but dont check first time even if it is first time because you will be cancel 3.Pay for road test privets or wait 2 months for DPS and then take all paperwork in to get license 2 months wait Who is running 3 appointments show for kids in Texas?This is called PURE democracy

Staffs there are really great and helpful. I got the last minute appointment at 8:30 and Shannon who helped me there was a god send . I get hope to do better because I meet people like her down to earth and ready to help on my path every now and then . I will give this DPS a 6 star if there was an option . Overall great experience. I received wonderful service here! The day I went, they were not slow and very friendly. If you act nice and polite, you will have a WONDERFUL experience! It is also pretty easy to get an appointment! But make sure you have an appointment because when I was there they will NOT let you in if you dont have an appointment.

TRIED TO COME WITHOUT APPOINTMENT: READ FOR INFO!!!! Ok so I had googled and screenshotted a page from the TX dmv website showing you could go to any of the 16 department locations without an appointment. I showed this to the lady and she informed me that the DMV and DPS are actually 2 separate entities so that s NOT true for the DPS. Bummer. I did get good info though: between 7AM - 8AM, the DPS locations will release same-day availability if they have any. There s no set time so you just need to be ready and checking. SUPER HELPFUL! Also - I needed the proper documents. My passport and license expired in June. I can t find the other acceptable documents so I asked the lady at the DPS and she informed me I can go to the clerks records office and get a certified copy of my birth certificate for $23. It s right up the road. Grateful for their kindness and their genuine HELPFULNESS. You don t get that at any other dmv that I ve been to in the DFW area.

The first time I went here, I was confused as to the process and was put-out so to speak at having to leave without getting what I needed. I tried again. This time I read the rules, followed directions. Laughing at myself. What a wonderful staff. What an orderly, clean and helpful environment. I even felt special, catered to. BIG difference when you pay attention. Thank you for your services, information and friendliness. Im sure I would not be so cordial to the massive complaining public. Oh, by the way, I still hate my picture....

Highly recommend this location! This was my second time visiting this office for a learners permit. Each experience I ve had at this location has been a great experience. The staff is extremely friendly and knowledgeable. They display welcoming demeanors, greet the patrons at the door, and seem genuinely happy to help the patrons. Fully expecting to be frustrated beyond belief, I was impressed beyond belief with Rockwall DL services! I made an appointment online for Friday @ 9:25 am. to renew my license. I brought a completed form, my birth certificate, social security card, passport, driver license, and even an Atmos bill just in case. (didnt need to establish residency, but I could have) I arrived in Rockwall at 9:00 am and at 9:45 am I was already back in Rowlett at Walmart @ 2501 Lakeview. Mission complete at record speed... Nice!

This place is 100% your best shot at having a good experience with Public Safety in North Texas. The key is to bring everything you possibly can and to schedule an appointment once you know for sure you have everything you need. Frank helped my brother yesterday and helped me today and he is kind, efficient, and pleasant all around. After my nightmare experience over at Sherman I was really nervous about coming to Public Safety again, but I was immediately put at ease as the atmosphere was much more friendly and welcoming at this location and the employees actually seemed to want to be there. The lady who came to the front to check us in before entering the building was all smiles and greeted us warmly. Big thanks go to Frank who helped me with the whole process start to finish with precision and friendliness, I m grateful for the experience I had at Rockwell Public Safety with you!

I ll be honest after hearing what a disaster it is getting your license renewed in person I was expecting the worst. However, it was a great experience. It did take 3 months to get an appointment but the process was so smooth. Someone came out while waiting in line to make sure everyone had correct documentation. Got in to check in and before I could sit down, I was called back. The process was very smooth and everyone was so pleasant. I have a story to tell and it might just help you on your life journey. I am going to make it short but fill it with information that will help you make the decision on what DPS location is best for you. My name is Elizabeth. I am a CDL holder. While i was working on the job that I have held for 2yrs, dps patrol pulled me over, he let me know my license was invalid and he didnt know why. He told me to check with DPS. I went to the rockwall location the very next day and although the front staff were very nice the lady behind the corner with short man hair wouldnt answer my questions untill i was done filling out the form. She seemed irritated. And I introduced myself and explained what happened with my CDL but that I do not know why its invalid. She told me I have been downgraded. I asked what thay ment. She said basically your your cdl is downgraded to a regular license. I asked why. She said because I dont have a medical card. I let her know I have one. Than some lady dps officer looked at the womens computer and gave a sas remark saying if you have to upgrade her, than upgrade her. She than went away. The women dps employees with short man hair cut, said ok. I asked what that ment, she said basically you have take your cdl all over again. I said what do you mean all over again. She said retest on everything, computer test, driving test. I explained to her that I cannot do this all over and I dont have time, I have to keep working. She didnt say anything and continued to tell me I must do it all over again. And she would need these documents. I said, you already have my birth certificate on file can you use that. She said no, you have to start all over again. I couldnt believe it. Was there nothing else that could be done. I slept on it and couldnt sleep. I went to the Greenville location the very next day. The front room staff were very nice, thank you to Erica and Wayne for just being nice and friendly. Even Wayne went over the paper work with me and I was so out of it from the disbelief of the rockwall location telling me I had to start over on my career, that when Wayne asked what class was my CDL I froze up and Erica said class A. I was in depression mode. As I just stood there frozen. These two were friendly with everyone else, exchanging thanks you and your welcomes to each other. My number was called as I was walking up to number 5 begging for a miracle, I was meet with Marlee. I asked her if I could explain to her my situation, she said yes and looked into my eyes. I said, I have been with my company driving for 2 years and the other day a dps patrol said my CDL is invalid and he didnt know why. She said its probably your medical and this is pretty normal. She explained I needed to bring in the medical examineers certificate myself and to not rely on my job or the hospital to send it. I told her that I didnt know this or I would have done that when I first got it. She explained everything in great detail and she said you have your medical card. I said yes. She said dont worry we will get your back on the road. I responded but, will you get back on the road today! She said yes. This kind of stuff happens a lot. Let me tell you friends out there who are reading this review. I WAS ECSTATIC! My heart was racing and my sadness turned into hope. I said to her, are you sure today I can go back to work. And she said yes. It was sooo much paper work, and she even helped me find the hospitals phone number because they forgot to add their phone number. It took some time but I didnt mind waiting at all, because this is my life and it was in her hands. Marlee, even though she had a mask on I could tell she was smiling at times and we even had some laughs. I explained to her how special she is to be put here for people like me. She may not think she doesnt make any difference in her job but iam telling you she DOES, and she doesnt know it. I am now back to work and iam able go keep surviving in this crazy world. Thank you to the team at Greenville. Thank you for the compassion you shown everyday.

Came here to get information on what s needed for an ID and ect for a family member. Unfortunately no one was standing outside as usual so I walked to the door and open it and was going to see if someone was going to help answer my questions and the lady demanded me to step out was very rude. I believe that you could have used a better tone and if you was standing outside I wouldn t need to come look for you to do your job. Sooooo here s the deal, website sucks completely! Appointment ONLY! Next appointment was 2/26/24 in TERRELL! Total government cluster and imposition on citizens rights! That being said, I came in during the rain to ask some questions. I knew my DL # as per HS I expect, but I didn t know the DD # . Who does?!? This was a replacement DL. Jasmine met me outside and asked a few questions . Ushered me in, eye test, paperwork, and BOOM My replacement license will be mailed in a week or two. The staff does everything in their power to send you back and forth and lose your appointment. I came to my appointment that was scheduled at 1:20pm I arrived at 12:40pm. They sent me to fedex to print bills that had to be two under the same name. I don t have another proof of bill under my name. They were wasting my time joking around about what ifs what ifs sent me to FedEx twice, lines were long in FedEx. After I got everything printed, they sent out a very old lady to tell me my appointment has been canceled well ofcourse it has, they made me drive TWICE back and forth after they poorly explained the papers they needed the first time. They talk over you, they poorly communicate, they laugh as you re walking out making a mockery of you. As an American women this is distasteful. Horrible service.

Overall a great DPS/DMV experience. They had some people at the entrance double check I had all the correct paperwork & appointment time before they showed me inside. I then waited 15 or so minutes before being called, had a very friendly man help me get my new license, and after about 15 more minutes I was on my way. Well worth the drive from Princeton.

Super AWESOME FACILITY, SUPER EFFICIENT AND FRIENDLY STAFF! They dont play out about the documentation. (Always best to make sure you have what you need or if you live in the area stop by there is always a knowlegable employee outside to answer your questions). Also to get into the building you need an appointment! All documentation except: -birth certificate -social security card - lease (if used as proof of residency) MUST BE 30 DAYS OLD OR LESS You can use a bank statement in place of one form on bill but will need additional docs to support that you are you. Overall compared to other facilities they are fast, knowledgable, supportive, efficient and AWESOME! So happy I found this little diamond in the rough!

Let just say my brother had an appointment and they treated my dad very disrespectful, when they were kindly asking for help. When we were going for my brother license they went straight to my dad and questioned if he is a citizen or resident. My father stated resident, the lady attending him stated clearly with an attitude. YOU RE NOT FROM HERE SO YOURE A RESIDENT OUT LOUD! Which my dad was in shock there was no need for that since he already know. Plus they were threatened to move the car, we re they accidentally park and there was another lady that park and was not being treated as how we were. That lady attending us was really rude and racist. Therefore, be careful if you get attended by her. She was a American lady with a sleeve tattoo in her left arm.

Once I had an appointment, this DMV was extremely fast. I think the whole process to renew my license took about 15 minutes and everyone was very friendly. The toughest part is knowing what the process is before you get there. Its impossible to talk to someone and find out exactly what you need to do to try and book same day appointments and the information on the website seems vague. From what Ive learned, you can try to book same day appointments starting between 7 8 am. They dont release them at exactly 7 am, you might have to periodically keep checking in over that time period to see when they release them. On the day I got my same-day appointment, they released their available appointments some time between 7:30 and 7:45 am. The man who worked at the DMV made it sound like they release them at different times on different days. You cant drive up there and make an appointment in-person, you can only do it online. For this location, they only required my old Drivers License and either a valid birth certificate or passport. Ive heard of other people having to bring SS cards, but they didnt require it (at least the day I was there). Thought Id share just in case it helps clear up the process for anyone else because I was really confused.

Youll need to bring EVERYTHING that you might possibly have as identification and then still wind up having to reschedule and wait another 3 months so that you can present your Social Security card! The US Passport, US Passport ID, Birth certificate, and copy of your utility bill is not enough to prove who you are! Ummm, a paper card without a photo on it somehow seems to be better form of identity identification, than TWO Federally issued forms of identification that allow you to enter the country. Oh yeah, this only applies to you if you are a US Citizen, born in the US!

This was the best experience I have ever had with DPS. I went there to get my Texas Drivers License and was in/out within 20mins. In addition, I have to mention the following employees: Jaslyn, Shannon and Frank,. They were so professional, friendly and efficient. I was literally greeted at the door with Shannon and Franks smiles and courtesy and then Jaslyn got me processed so quickly, I couldnt believe it. I hope that their Supervisor has an opportunity to see this review and also sees my review from my experience at the Greenville DPS. Unbelievably poor experience! If you want to experience the exact opposite of customer service you should set your appointment at this location. After waiting months for my appointment I arrived early to find the information online was not specific to what I actually needed for my appointment. The lady at the door told me I need different copies of my document for my DL. I drove 30 minutes home, 30 minutes back and was then still denied my appointment. The same lady simply had an attitude and told me to have a nice day...REALLY??? After months of waiting for THIS appointment? Ill choose ANY other location over this one. Texas should be ashamed of this behavior at their offices.

Super disappointed in the service at this office. I am a new resident in TX. This morning I did a shift from 2 am to be attended without an appointment since the appointments are for very distant dates and I urgently need the replacement of my license to be able to work because that is an essential tool in the field where I do work. After doing my turn on hold from 2am, an office staff leaves at 8 am and tells those of us who were waiting that we would not be attended to by instructions from the supervisor since they did not have enough staff. Which is absurd and ridiculous since the staff that was in the office is the same every day. It is sad to see how the desperation and need of people are abused in these government agencies. Wow, Welcome to Texas! Since they do not have any kind of empathy and respect for us that we are risking our lives outdoors from early hours, hours of sleep to finally have wasted our time. The people who were standing there for hours have rights that must be respected. In addition to this, you call the office to speak with a supervisor and everything that answers you is rubbish from an automated system, they do not have a staff with whom you can express yourself and file your complaint.

At the appointment early. Lady at the front stated we needed a sealed envelope transcript for my son. Ran to the school and back. Then I am told no sorry you only had a 30 min window. I missed it by 20 after running to S Garland and back. Lady at front would not even ask the wan inside since she didnt tell me any policy on cancelation. Such a joke. I pay your tax dollars but you are not a le to accomodate.

I have been trying to get a driver license here for 9 months. When I show up, I am escorted to the exterior of the building to talk to an employee that sends me away to make an appointment. I come back weeks later with appointment but get shown the door because lack of some paperwork, try again several time ant they say I will have better luck getting driver license in small town in south Texas. Amazing! There is no competition. Government work at its best.

Waited in line with many others this morning for a walk-in appointment. As soon as a lady who worked there came out to talk to everyone the first thing out of her mouth was, We will not be giving everyone tickets today, we want to encourage you to make online appointments. We will check your paperwork to make sure you have all items needed. We will not be doing this much longer due to the heat coming and people needing to make appointments online. OK well first of all, all the appointments online are MONTHS OUT for my child to get her PERMIT to start LEARNING TO DRIVE. Not even a DL! We do have an appointment but were hoping to get it done sooner since her appt is 09/01. The lady up there speaking to everyone seemed angry and rude (i guess this is normal... Rockwall DMV has been this way with their staff being rude since i was in highschool... over 15 years ago). Once they checked ONE persons paperwork... she went in and came back out to tell everyone there were no tickets available for Drivers Licenses, Permits, or IDs. Also said no driving tests. So pretty much anything they actually do here was not available for the people who showed up early like we did. We were there at 5:45am and were still about 7th in line today. I will never EVER use this DMV again and was already not wanting to from when I was younger and had to... this just reconfirmed my feelings about this DMV. Will go to a different location and hopefully be treated properly.

I stopped to update my address at the Rockwall office. The rude man at the door asked if I had an appt. I replied no I didnt know I needed one. He asked of I had a Texas ID since people lie about it. I asked why would I lie. I showed my DL. Them he said.. did you bring your passport. I asked why would I being my passport. He says rudly...so you can update your license. He then says try it online. Amazing staff at the Rockwall Motor Vehicle office. As a new TX resident I was impressed with the smooth transition to get my DL today. Although I had a mix up with my documents they were patient and supportive. The officer at the door was welcoming and thorough with verification of documents needed. Everyone inside was well organized and super sweet. My only worry is my ID being trusted with the USPS for delivery.

First of all, making an appointment online was really easy, I liked that you could pick the date AND time. When I arrived for my appointment the front ladies were super sweet and checked me in, after sent me to go fill out my DL paperwork but I had barely sat when they called me for my appointment! The lady behind the counter (I wish I had got her name) was patient as I filled out the application and made some nice small talk. The staff here are really sweet and helpful, the office was not crowded and everything was really easy. I have NEVER had such a pleasant and easy time in the DPS especially for a driver s license like this. 10/10 Would return for any DL needs.

I guess I just don t understand the design and engineering process. Had a horrible wreck February 2020 on I 30 westbound right over the highway 205 overpass. Driving 60 mph and light rain but enough water had accumulated on ice 30 to cost me to hydroplane. Three trips across all three lanes of I 30 and into the concrete wall I went. There s absolutely no drainage in this area For a few weeks now there s been a huge pothole in the center lane of I 30 heading eastbound and almost the same location. Why in the world text.will not repair it is beyond me? It s causing major damage to vehicles and runs a high risk of blowing a tire or causing someone to lose a wheel and have a major wreck

Took 4 months to get an appointment. Been married for over 30 years. Had a Texas driver s license for 20 years in my married name. Returning from ten years out of state and even though they verified that I had a previous license in my married name and I provided a folder full of documentation all in my married name, and offered a picture of the original marriage certificate, they refused to honor my appointment because I did not have an original of my marriage certificate. Common sense clearly has no place in state government.
