The service here was really excellent for a BBQ joint. The buffet has a large selection of meats, veggies, sides, and even dessert. You can sit inside with the live band or eat outside if the weather is nice. Great place to visit!

This place had mixed reviews on the quality of food, but we took the chance and gave it a try. It was 3 of us, so we tried a little of everything. Everything was good. I was with 2 bbq fans so I feel like they have high standards when it come to bbq. They were a fan. Items we got Brisket, ribs, catfish, pulled pork sandwich. Sides Salad bar was delicious, mac and cheese, corn, green beans, slaw, potato salad. There was plenty of seating, it was kind of dim/dark in the main dinning area and the radio they had kept cutting in and out which I absolutely cant stand. Still gave 5 stars because to me bbq restaurants are about the food. Parking: Gravel parking lot, not sure how it gets when its a busy day

We live close by and this place had a lot of good reviews so we decided to give it a try. Boy were we in for a surprise. We waited in line for 2 families to order and they took some time to order . Didn t seem to be a problem with the lady working the cash register. When it was our turn she threw her hands in the air as if we were were taking a long time ordering food. Which we only ordered 2 plates. And she still proceeded to roll her hands in trying to hurry us up. We were the only Hispanics there and she was very comfortable doing those gestures and had a mean look. Funny enough as soon as we moved and sat down she started laughing and smiling to the next customers that were behind us. Good food . Racists cashiers.

First time trying but the smoked chicken sandwich delicious! It was really tender and seasoned well. And the soft buttery bun took it up a few more notches . The only reasons I give 4 out 5 was because I didnt really care for the fried okra. I think if it had a little salt and wasnt fried so hard it wouldve been top notch as well. A couple other things too. Theyre pretty expensive. I mean I know bbq tends to be, but I feel like the prices were well above average prices. And lastly, the lady at the front counter wasnt too warm. She was really dry and hardly smiled but smiled at the customers who she helped before me. Take it how you want to. Overall, would definitely go again. If those couple things are worked on(aside from pricing because we know that wont change), this would be a top tier bbq spot!

Family loved it and the BBQ was very Good according to my husband, it was GREAT!! Parking: The Parking area needs to be IMPROVED, AND PAVED with more space. We had to find a place to park in Grass and Gravel. The inside and the staff make up for difficult parking, YES Kid-friendliness: Family oriented and kids are welcome there.

Cool rustic barbeque restaurant with live music on Friday and Saturday nights. They have indoor and outdoor dining areas. Outdoor seating with the stage as the focal point with a playground setup for the kids and corn hole setups for those that wish to play. There is a conveniently located outdoor bar. Oh, and the food is great too!

I wanna start by saying the staff is incredible! Super nice, friendly, and kind, I can see why this place is so loved! They are limited on gluten-free options. They do offer a military discount. The reason for the food rating was because we tried the brisket, pulled pork and ribs, and all three were dry and lacked flavor. Yes, there is bbq sauce, but the meat should have a smoked flavor or some kind of flavor, for that matter, it doesnt. Dickies or smoke sessions bbq meat is better tasting flavor wise. My husband and I love supporting mom and pop places so we try alot of new places, we have moved ALOT. The service here was the best we have had in YEARS the food was a disappointment.

I was told there was an all you can eat bbq buffet. There was no bbq on the buffet! The chicken enchiladas were decent but ya had to wait too long for more to come out! As for service, there was none. There was only one cashier, ugggh! Atmosphere, you can tell they tried. Its too far out for the price and experience.

The drive, while not far is absolutely beautiful. You get the opportunity to see sky & fields for days. Service was impeccable! So friendly & warm even with all of our questions since wed never been before. Atmosphere of SMB is fun & welcoming. Truly a place to kick back, socialize, listen to live music & eat some great food. We had a family style set up of Ribs, sausage, rolls, brisket, mac-n-cheese, pecan pie, dinner rolls, fries & tea. Pros: ribs are juicy & flavorful with little fat & more meat. Absolutely wonderful! Sausage had a hint of jalapeno, great snap, juicy & tender. Dinner rolls taste fresh & warm. (You have to ask for butter though.) Mac was creamy & flavorful just a bit in the cold dude in places though. We went before the dinner rush. Semi-cons: Brisket was tender but was a little dry & lacked the flavor other items had. The pecan pie also lacked the flavors Im used to, although the best pie crust in a Texas tart style pie Ive ever had. The tea was not great. It tasted like it was a day or two old. Great vibes with the radio on perfect for an afternoon on their shaded deck or out on the lawn. Of course the food is excellent and everything on the hot bar was tasty. Loved the sweet jam pork, gumbo, and the fish was dusted with cornmeal for a light crisp. So good.

The lady that took our order was really sweet and helpful. Her and her daughter have matching tattoos which is how I can describe her. The food was good I give it 8/10. This place actually owns up to its photos because the sandwiches are HUGE!! The kids meals are perfect size and those sliders are dull of meat. I love the play area for the kids. My dad and I stopped in for lunch. He had the catfish basket. He has some health problems that make eating difficult. The way the catfish was cooked made it very easy for him to eat. The mashed potatoes and country gravy were very good. The bread was very good. The employees were very kind and helpful. It was a great place to eat!

Fried fish and pork ribs were very good this visit. My daughter enjoyed the sausage, chicken and penne pasta dish. The weather was perfect. I enjoy the dining options here: indoor, outdoor, patio, and the indoor room can be opened to the outside. They have a nice area for kids to play. We went last Friday night. We both got the buffet. The food was good but expensive if you re not able to eat 2-3 plates of it. The vegetables on the buffet were bell peppers with minimal zucchini and yellow squash - an overwhelming amount of peppers. Corn, pasta, mac& cheese, boiled cabbage ( my husband said this was very good) and a few other items. The catfish was good and the shrimp was also good. We didn t care for the peach dessert on the buffet. We felt lucky to find somewhere to sit inside but the band was so loud, we couldn t have any conversation. I thought the band was okay but I didn t know any of the songs they played. My husband knew some of the songs and said they were terrible. We sat upstairs and it accommodated our large group (20). There was even a pool table up there. They ve added a newer outdoor area since I visited last which looks really nice. There are tables and chairs on artificial turf and a nice play areas for the kids. Parking: They have what looks like a newly established area for parking. There was an earthquake mover there when we arrived. Previously, this establishment was lacking enough parking so hopefully this will help everyone get in.

Finally stopped in to eat lunch with my son. Optioned for the BBQ brisket sandwich. No choice in cut was given - as is at other establishments (like smoke sessions in Royse City) - so the BBQ brisket came on the choice bun - was more fat than actual meat. I can appreciate the flavor - and the crusty ends mixed in - but it would have been so much more appealing to have more meat than fat. Son had the Pulled pork - and his was much leaner than my brisket (typically - not the case when it comes to pulled pork) By the end of the day - the constant churning of fatty greasy brisket sandwich got the best of me. Really regret eating here now.

Great bbq. Im not a fan of the sauce, but my kids like it. The great thing is that the bbq doesnt really need sauce. It is good on its own. The buffet is great with a solid selection when we go on Sundays. We havent been during the week, but we will soon. Try and save room for the cobbler if you can!

We found this little hidden gem through an online search. While close enough to our house to be one of our new go-to places, it doesnt require having to get out and fight traffic in either Rockwall or Forney. It doesnt look like much fun the outside, but the people who work there (I think may be the owners, based upon our experience) were pleasant, friendly and welcoming. Texas hospitality shows up here. The food was tasty, hot and fresh. We will be back.

We attended as a group of neighbors on 10/22/23 after 6pm. Food: they were out of ribs, brisket and chicken - one of my neighbors is Jewish, so think about that for a second. Pulled pork was salty, maybe it was the remaining amounts for the night. Although, 4 other families arrived after we did and ended up leaving, going elsewhere. Service: nothing to boast about. The cashier could have done a better job of informing us of the additional foods. We saw wings on the menu, but it didnt sound like the chef was up to the task. Atmosphere: probably a good strength due to the location and availability for space. We are down the road and first went 8 years ago and never returned as the food was not impressive. We went last night as it was previously suggested by the other neighbors. Honestly, you make your own assumptions, but for the amount of money we paid, it really isnt worth the time to go there. Dont know if they ever had a change in ownership. BTW - an employee or chef was smelling the food or sauces (I couldnt see clearly), and that gesture put a bad sense of feeling for what I was about to eat. Man, if youre gonna do that, do it where customers cant see you!!! Im all about supporting local businesses, but this type of business ethics will ruin your clientele.

Great food, amazing and friendly staff, welcoming atmosphere. Our first time here and Monroe showed us around and made us feel right at home. I love the fenced in outdoor space and the playground. Absolutely Divine! The best BBQ I ve ever had, hands down. When my friend and I visited Terrell, we were determined to find Texas BBQ! We hit the jackpot at Smoke Monkey. We went back the two days we stayed in Terrell and would most certainly go back if we are ever in the area again. The meat on the ribs falls right off the bone! The brisket, pulled pork and chicken are so flavorful and it all melts in your mouth. The sides are to die for!!! We tried the coleslaw, potato salad, Mac n cheese, and waffle fries. The bread that comes with the meats was fresh and fluffy! Every bite was perfectly seasoned and every item of our meal felt homemade and crafted with the utmost care. The BBQ sauce they had on the side was tangy and sweet. I ve had Carolina style BBQ and I thought it was great but it pales in comparison to the Texas BBQ at Smoke Monkey. Not only was the meal a wonderful experience, the staff working there were welcoming and friendly! The ambiance outside the restaurant was rustic and charming! Truly an awesome experience all around! Only regret was that I didn t have any room in my belly for dessert or the fish fry buffet! There s always next time! Can t wait to go back!!

From beginning to end this was a fantastic meal, atmosphere, and venue. The management was very helpful and answered all my questions; especially since I am a non-meat eater at a meat heavy restaurant. Walking in, not only are there plenty of pic ops, but it also smells great! There is a 2nd floor that offers more privacy or a great place for a party. There is also an outdoor event center where bands come to entertain! You will undoubtedly notice the open bars of food. They have plenty of sides that do not have meat, so a non-meat eater will not starve here, that is for sure. They also have just a salad bar if you are vegan. Which is a total plus! I was with a party of four, everyone else ate meat, and loved it! I had mac n cheese, beans, mashed potatoes, mixed peppers & squash, and corn along with a salad! Yes, my eyes were much bigger than my stomach! Everything was fresh and phenomenal. There is a piano in the eatery hall, and I did confirm they offer FREE piano lessons on Thursdays at 7pm! Lastly, the staff! Every single person I met, from the management to the waitstaff and in between were SUPER NICE! It was refreshing to be able to talk to people and not feel as though you were putting them out with your questions. They were all super helpful with identifying what foods used meat and what ones did not so I could avoid a tummy issue later! Now as far as the bill...are you ready?! Such a cool place! Loved that they had a tejano/latin rock band tonight. It was truly a great time. Had something for everyone. Buffet, beer, playground, music, and a cozy atmosphere. We will be back!

It is genuine BBQ place. Food is really good and fresh. The price is very good considering that you pay for Buffett. They have lived music Friday and Saturday nights. I have three little picky eaters and they said they would come back. That says it all!!

The customer service was outstanding, and the product was exactly what I was looking for. I was so pleased with the service I received from this business. They went above and beyond to make my time there enjoyable. I was very impressed with the hospitality and the quality of the food I received. There food is definitely worth it price. If you haven t been here I recommend you go. The atmosphere was very laid back and comfortable. Kid-friendliness: They treated my children like their own, my four year old was asking questions and they were so patient and kind to him.

We went on a Saturday evening around 7:45pm. They had all you can eat fish buffet. The serving line had been hit hard and looked it. The line could have been cleared up and serviced. But we stayed and got fried catfish, fried shrimp and fixings. The catfish was good, picked over but good. The shrimp was cold. The sides were also hit hard, they had a large variety but everything had been hit hard and was nearly empty. It seemed like they had staff to tend to the service line but all were elsewhere. Food was subpar. When we left the line had been replenished but you could tell they had dumped hot food on top of the old instead of changing out the pans. Probably my fault for going for the special fish buffett instead of ordering BBQ, which is what they are know for. Will I go back probably not just based on how they serviced the buffet line. Kid-friendliness: They have a large outdoor play area for kids.

We had Smoke Monkey cater our wedding in 2020, and they were the most accommodating! Our taste test was the best experience, and their setup and professionalism at the wedding was more than we couldve ever dreamed of. Not to mention how amazing the food is! Must have gotten a bad batch. Ordered takeout with family, multiple split orders. Our brisket was mostly all fat, with no texture or flavor. Only juicy because of all the fat. However, the one my family got looked and tasted like brisket should, but was relatively dry. Buns were also disappointing. Bad experience.

Friday all you can eat catfish was fresh, crispy and hot! Fried shrimp and all the basic veggies. This place is Awesome! The service and food quality was efficient and delectable. We had our daughters graduation party and initially we were going to have it outdoors but then the catering staff/coordinator suggested to check the inside area and there was a private area on the top loft upstairs and it was perfect! Tracy was a delight and always came to check on our dishes and always asked if we needed anything, she was so sweet! Everyone loved the food and the environment. I would recommend this place anytime anyone would want to host a party!
