Update: I miss the old set-up they had before. It included more games and easier to navigate. It feels cramped now. It also needs better cleaning. Things are old and run down already. Not going around and sanitizing things, especially the tables is off-putting. Bathrooms need a remodel. I wont use them. Would like to see it offer better food options too. Previous: Fun atmosphere! For 80s and 90s nerds, this place has all the classic games. Could not get my son to leave! A very inclusive and friendly space. Everyone followed COVID restrictions which made us feel safe! Gracias to the staff for being so kid friendly and having such a cool spot running.

I am visiting from Toronto, Canada. I told the guy at the front desk that i came to play pinball. He took my money and withheld the fact that there was a pinball tournament of some sort going on. Most of the machines were taken and unplayable, the tournament guys were yelling and taking up all the space. tournament players were operating two machines at a time.. for some reason just reaching over and starting games on the machine next to them. And once again, they were yelling, right in my ear. Very unpleasant, and I Wasted a vacation day here. Should have tried another arcade in the area

So, the arcade selection is not as good as it used to be. There were some great classics that arent there anymore and instead there are tables. BUT the drink selection is very good for what looks like a small bar. They rotate their tap selection every week and they have a great variety of canned drinks that are not just a bunch of different versions of ipa. Also, you can watch their kitchen staff through the door on the way to the bathroom. I caught them with gloves on and and hair covered and the prep area looked clean. So order away

This place is great! Bring earplugs! The constant noises emanating from the machines will definitely give you a headache that leads to you leaving before really getting your moneys worth. We were looking for a rainy-day activity on vacation and found this on Google Maps. We were fine with the $12/person charge, even with six people in our family, but apparently it was half price for arriving in the first hour! Score! There was a decent selection of games, and all the games were in great shape. They were constantly walking around cleaning and looking for things needing fixed. We didnt try any of the food, but it smelled amazing. We love going to retro gaming conventions, so this was right up our alley. If we lived here, wed be regulars!

If you are an OG like me, you miss the days of video arcades before the console Era. This place will take you back to the good old days of flashy lights and the 8 bit sounds. This place has a flat rate to enter and all the games are free, so no pumping quarters and visiting the dollar bandit for more quarters. They do have a bar and bar food available. They also have adults only late night so no one under 21 will be there. They have tournaments and gaming groups if you are interested in that. The staff are pretty responsive to game issues and the food is what you would expect for bar food. If you love the idea of sitting down in front of a pinball machine with a beer and letting the world fade away to the glorious shine of a ball bearing bouncing off bumpers, this place is for you!

Great games, rude employees. Was told I needed to pay to stand near a game as I picked up my son from a birthday party (saying thank you and goodbye to hosts). Fun place for kids or kids at heart (who like pinball, street fighter or Pac-Man). Wife and I went here after a date night dinner. $12 per person. This place has skee-ball! 21 and over starts after 9p. Food and drinks are available, we did not partake. Go for the Galaga or BurgerTime but stay for the Skee-ball. Another fun one to try is Jubeat and Wacca. Both are Japanese rhythm arcade games. Very hard but very fun (sadly only one player at a time though). Be a kid again and wax nostalgic.

Last week, I came to the arcade with 4 friends. After 3 of us paid they wouldnt let one of our friends in because he forgot his ID. I called my other friends back so we could go to a different place but when we asked for a refund, they said no. We kept insisting and the guy at the front started to get aggressive and threaten to take our IDs and call the cops (I saw this happened to someone else in another review). Honestly this place seems like a scam. It sucks that we didnt get our refunds, but we ended up going to Barcadia and having a good time.

What a cool place! I grew up in Garland and spent many hours at the now demolished Richardson Square Mall. Who would ve thought there such a trendy place would arise from the ashes of the area???? $12 to get in, and 18 and up after 9pm weekdays. Tons of vintage (and not so vintage) arcade games. All in perfect working order!!! Lots of craft beers on draft and in cans/bottles. The food menu is small, mostly small pizzas and panini s, but all were tasty that we tried (especially the Chicken Tikka pizza - YUM). Great place to spend a few hours and relive your childhood!

My college age daughter and I spent some time playing games at Free Play Arcade. We were specifically looking for pinball machines and found a great selection! Even though we may have spent more on the entry fee per person than at a nickel arcade, we preferred the payment model of paying a single price for entry and then all the games are free. This arcade has a nice mix of pinball, classic games like Ms. Pac man and Space Invaders, and some newer games. The clientele skews toward adults and older teens, not young kids. We definitely want to play here again, but need to make sure we have at least 2-3 hours so we get our moneys worth.

Unfortunately we decided to have our sons birthday party here. Every business where we hosted a party has never required parents to pay in order to come in and have a drink or a slice of cake. These are parents who are not paying. We would happily pay for parents who wanted to play but to pay for them to have cake seems ridiculous to me. We asked to speak to a manager but he was not around. They were unable to provide a phone number and only an email was given. He did not reply until the day after the party and was not helpful, blaming this on the owners policy. I would recommend avoiding this place if hosting a kids party

Got to visit this location finally. It truly has the old school arcade feel more than the other locations. While not as many frills, it took me back to the 80s arcade feel immediately. The game selection is large and all the games are in great condition. Food/Drink options are available and there is a seating area for eating/hanging out. Staff is always awesome at all the FreePlay locations and this one was no exception. It is just one big room which is nice to keep up with the kids as they run from game to game. If you ever wondered what it was like to be a GenX kid in the 80s at an arcade, this is about as close as you can get these days.

I love Free Play Richardson! Weve been local patrons since they opened, and have felt fortunate that the original location is right down the street from us. Other newer Free Play locations are better equipped to handle crowds from tournaments or meetups, but the OG location still has its charm. Shout out to Pinball Mondays at Richardson!

Great experience. Havent been to an arcade since I was a kid. Had to go during the busiest hours, I was worried it would be a bad experience because of it. Everything was great, I didnt have to wait more than a minute for any machine. Even though its packed full of gamers, theres no odor, and everyone is chill. 10 out of 10

We went here for my daughters birthday. The price of admission is fair. The vibe is definitely retro-cade! There is a great drink selection, the food options are slim. The staff wasn t very personable but it may have been a rough day. We had a good time though.

We came in with a party of about 15 people... We are 30+.. we all paid.... THEN we were refused entry because someone didnt have an ID.. understandable. We asked for a refund and they told us they were going to call the cops if we didnt leave.. the long haired guy threatened us multiple times for asking for a refund. We left and wont be back. We will also be filing a police report for theft.. absolutely unprofessional
