Update 9.26.24: I was in Dallas again and decided to give this place another shot. They specialize in Bangladeshi food, and I assume the cook is bengali as well, but the staff answering the phone spoke spoke English and Hindi/Urdu, and did not understand Bangla. It made me a bit nervous, as I wasn t sure if the flavor would meet my expectations, but I ordered with high hopes. We tried the Dhaka Kacchi (Goat) and Chameli Kacchi. The Dhaka Kacchi Biryani was great exactly what we were craving and something we haven t been able to find in Austin. Was it the best I ve ever had? No, but it definitely satisfied our cravings and was well-prepared overall. If you re looking for authentic Bangladeshi-style Kacchi Biryani, this is the one to get. Now, onto the Chameli Kacchi. This was more like Morog Pulao with goat. I enjoyed it, as I love the aroma of Morog Pulao and hadn t had it in years. However, if youre expecting a traditional Bangladeshi Kacchi Biryani, you ll be disappointed. Only order this if you re in the mood for Morog Pulao with goat. Lastly, a relative brought us Chameli s Goat Biryani. It was decent, though a bit on the dry side. There was a good amount of meat, which we all enjoyed, but it wasn t anything special that you couldn t find elsewhere. Overall, the biryanis were pretty tasty, and I ll definitely be ordering the Dhaka Kacchi again. Prior review: Out of towners wanting Bangladeshi foods. We called ahead and asked which Biryanis they have and they confirmed. Arrived and ready to order. Theres no table service so ordered upfront. We ordered the Chameli Biryani. They dont have it until 4pm. Why didnt you say that when we called earlier? We ordered the pomfret. They dont have it. Jeesh, what do you have? There were no other customers. They showed no interest in us as customers. What a miserable place. We cancelled our order and left. For Bangladeshi foods, go to Spice and Rice Indian Cuisine just 3 minutes away. Avoid Chameli at all costs.

Food good but not exactly baby friendly. I needed to change my infants diaper but they dont even have a changing area in their bathrooms. Its literally the bare minimum of restaurants. Add a changing station in your bathrooms for us parents. I obviously cant change my sons diaper publicly in this restaurant for sanitary reasons. And Its really hard changing diapers in my car in this Texas heat. Dont claim your restaurant is family-friendly just by adding high chairs. Add changing stations too. I realized this is lacking alot in alot of halal restaurants. Kid-friendliness: Food good but not exactly baby friendly. We asked which biriani will be same taste as Bangladeshi kacchi? They said chameli kacchi, and we ordered one chameli kacchi and one morog pulao. They just pour the polao on mutton curry and named it Kacchi!! Same goes for the morog pulao, poured pulao over chicken korma!! We told them to change the kacchi, but they didnt. This is very unprofessional and unwanted. I will never go there!! Lesson learned!!

CHAMELI!!! A Culinary Gem: Best Indian Cuisine Experience Ever! I recently had the pleasure of dining at CHAMELI, and I must say, it was an unparalleled culinary journey. From the moment I stepped through the door, I knew I was in for something special. The aroma of exotic spices greeted me as I entered, setting the stage for what was to come. The menu boasted a tantalizing array of traditional Indian dishes, each bursting with flavor and expertly crafted to perfection. One bite of their delectable offerings, and I was transported to a world of gastronomic delight. Every dish was a symphony of taste, with each ingredient harmonizing perfectly to create a culinary masterpiece. But what truly set CHAMELI apart was its exceptional service. From the attentive waitstaff to the talented chefs in the kitchen, everyone went above and beyond to ensure a memorable dining experience. Their warmth and professionalism were truly commendable, making me feel welcomed and valued throughout my visit. In summary, CHAMELI has set the bar high for Indian cuisine. With impeccable food, outstanding service, and a welcoming atmosphere, its no wonder why I consider it the best Indian restaurant Ive ever had the pleasure of dining at. If youre a fan of exquisite flavors and exceptional hospitality, do yourself a favor and pay them a visit. You wont be disappointed!

The girl on the receptionist zone, as well as who is working in the same server position in the evening is very rude and terrible at customer service. Doesn t know how to greet or explain anything shows attitude instead. Feels grumpy and less interested in what customer is saying or asking. Terrible and ungrateful customer service. Change your evening shift girl for serving and providing customer service by her. Secondly, when we went there in the evening, the atmosphere was smelling really bad like dirty restroom which is not cleaned- type airy Odor everywhere around the restaurant, so it was difficult for us to eat in the same place and smell that restroom odor while we were eating.

Disappointing Iftar Buffet Experience: - Beef Haleem: Overly thickened with flour, we could smell and taste flour, seemed we are eating dough with little bit of meat. - Beguni (Fried Eggplant): Discolored with excessive food coloring. - Dessert (Vermicelli with Milk): Runny consistency, minimal vermicelli. - Limited Menu: Only one beef item among predominantly chicken dishes. (no goat biryani??/tehari?) The list goes on... Overall, considering the price point, the quality of food was subpar. Its unfortunate to see a once-decent iftar spot decline in quality.

Good. The paratha was actually quite tasty. Butter chicken 1.5/5 bread 3.5/5 paratha 5/5. For an average score. This whole meal Was $31 not including the drink I bought later! Chameli special kacchi biriyani and tandoori chicken It s not kacchi at all it s just plain polao rice with goat curry not even a regular biriyani either tastes nothing like biriyani tandoori chicken was okay at best hard and over cooked mango lassi and aloo cutlet were really good Reply to the owner: I know what kachchi biriyani is. I don t have to learn it from you. It s not a matter of taste bud for someone who grew up in Bangladesh .I don t know who you re trying to fool by saying it s kachchi if you haven t cooked it in dum style then it s not kachchi PERIOD. Also take your reviews seriously. Every time someone post a negative review you become very defensive. Like we can t even say anything if we didn t like the food.. Ordered takeout: Appetizer platter Murag pulao Thehari Missing 3 items from the appetizer platter, 3 pieces of potato and a small chicken piece of roast with no leg piece , a staple in the dish. Bland, didn t make the dish I requested with spice at all. No salad or Thai chilli peppers even provided and originally didn t give any cutlery or napkins until I asked for it. Very disappointing as I gave a tip during to the friendly service but was left gravely dissatisfied. Also looks like they are very defensive online against any negative reviews. You can view my history as I don t have incentive to write dishonest or inauthentic reviews. I urge the restaurant owners to do better and learn from the feedback instead to double check orders before sending them away and provide better effort in serving authentic cuisine or make clear the expectations when highlighting menu items.

Where do I start.... This used to be one of my favorite restaurants because they served authentic Bangladeshi food. However, they have been cutting corners left and right. Do not bother to get any biryani unless its boneless. I ordered goat and chicken biryani, all I got bunch of scrapped bones and barely any meat attached to it. I ordered rice pudding to go just like biryani. Rice pudding taste sour means it went bad. Years ago, one of cashier over there warned me not to have their rice pudding because that time I was pregnant, she told me that they would leave the rice pudding out during buffet and then restore back in the refrigerator to sell it later. Finally, years later I decided to give it try again, but looks like they are handling the food unhygienic way still. I would have returned it if the restaurant wasnt an hour away from my home. The only thing was good their chum chum sweet and which is made by third party.

Dont even ask me about the quality.... It is horrible and disgusting. Im pretty sure the grumpy greedy owner will reply to this review as he does to other reviews to express his insecurities. Instead of start blaming your customers, 1. start with being a good honest human being; 2. Improve your food quality because it is going downhill; 3. Learn to accept customers opinions because this will help your business grow. At the end, I want to say Make your income halal and do justice with your customers.

Location makes it hard to park at night time . I went on a Friday EDIT: found a roach on my chicken biryani like how gross I m so glad o saw it . Ordered the boneless chicken biryani it was great flavor but not a lot of chicken specially since they charge 4$ extra for boneless Like about 10 small little pieces. If it had more chicken it would be a 10/10 ordered naan and a paratha they were both average good Vegetable Samosa on the other hand Soooo delicious great spice!! Finished it before I could take a picture. Cashier (from Friday night) could be a tad more welcoming overall it was good will give it another shot and see how it goes

Terrible. The worst food ever. Believe the bad reviews. I did not and wished I had. We had sick tummies for the rest of the day, and was touch and go through the weekend. I think we all got a case of food poisoning. We ate the biryani, samosas, and butter chicken. The flavor was not good, not authentic and more like a hamburger helper version of biryani. They did not have samosas and subbed for the Chemeli chicken appetizer, it was a very dry, like a hockey puck, and had a flavor similar to cardboard. The butter chicken had a odd chemical sweetness that was totally off. Blech! I dont understand why this restaurant is still open. Do better and stop making your customers sick!

We ordered Dhaka Kacchi but got beef biriyani/tehari instead. Whoever is responsible for takeout orders should be careful about such mistakes. Our experience was awful when we found out about this mix-up. We dont eat beef due to our strong religious beliefs. We understand that mistakes can happen during busy times. Restaurant was not busy even that time. While waiting for our order, we also heard someone from kitchen was whispering that the item Dhaka kacchi was sold out. We dont know if you guys did that intentionally or if it was just a pure mistake! This is a very strong and delicate religious matter. You should be careful and double-check before handing out takeout orders. Parking: Only 2 parking for Chameli Customers.

This is very unprofessional of them. We do not eat beef because of religious belief. They should be more careful with such delicate things. Only good thing about this place is their dal puri. Parking: They only have two parking spot. Better not to park there but on the parkings of other shops across the road.

Well cooked meat and shrimp, perfectly balanced spices with fluffy basmati rice.. Rating 8/10. Lal mohan was also soft, moderately sweet. We can say Its a decent lal mohan. Rating 8/10 Quantity is Decent. 2 plates of Biryani can be shared by 3 people easily. We went there during Iftar hours. So it was little bit crowded but staffs were trying their best to serve every one, and trying to keep the place, tables clean and tidy. Environment was good. This restaurant use to serve some great food and that was a long time ago , they have changed owners once to many times over . The quality of food now being served has diminished a great deal , they do not use the quality of meats that use to be used, the cook could be a Mexican ( they are hard workers). I ordered the Razella and believe me you would not be able to swallow it down the taste it not the same , the seekh kabab was chewy like they used fake meat rubbery, they normally use to serve onions , this time the cook came out from the kitchen saying their supplier did not show up so they were outof onions cucumbers and green chille (GUESS THEY NEVER HEARD OF WALMART AROUND THE CORNER). Really disappointed WILL NEVER RETURN THEY HAVE ANOTHER RESTAURANT ABOUT HALF A BLOCK AWAY THEY HAVE GOOD FOOD I HAVE TRIED IT. I am not promoting any restaurant but these guys need to shut down or get a better cook who knows how to cook real BANGLADESHI FOOD and these guys are promoting their restaurant as an INDIAN CUISINE THEY MUST BE ASHAMED OF THEIR COUNTRY OR THEIR FOOD-. We tried samosa and dal puris and murog pulao! Puris and samosa were very good. Love the fact they drizzle chaat masala on top. Now the murog pulao was very ordinary, the pulao was good but the chicken wasn t that flavorful for my taste and was quite tiny ( this may be because I was expecting a big piece since that s what I always had at restaurants in Bangladesh). Portion wise the the rice was enough ! One serving easily can feed two people. The only downside for me was the fact that one would have to buy water here. They don t have fountain water hence one must buy bottled water. Parking is little crowded here too many businesses here, so try to avoid rush hour or go for pickup. Parking: Too many business so finding parking is difficult sometimes

The color is yellow like khichuri, not a khichuri either. The price for chicken biriyani was only around $7 for enough food. Anyways, the food was pretty good overall. Roast should come with more rice. The stuff were very nice. We liked the place and go more often to taste Bangladeshi food.

Then realized we needed to buy raitha separately after the food was served. 2) Tea was good, but was self serve in styrofoam cups. Proper tea cups would be good. 3) We had to buy water bottles separately. Having a jug of water and cups on table would be better for customer experience would be good. 4) Bathroom hand dryer was not working in mens bathroom.
