We showed up about 30 minutes before they opened and they let us in and served us anyway! We ordered a wine flight and a beer. Robinson was legit and just a cool dude. Ending up staying for 2 hours talking, drinking, and enjoying some apps (goat cheese beignets are awesome!!!!!). Highly recommend.

I have been coming to Cru for many years and sad to say the service , food and ambience has slowly been deteriorating .Our waitress was terrible , short tempered and abrupt . She was extremely unpleasant. The food was average at best and the menu had such limited selection of dishes . Other than being outside on the patio everything was terrible and we will not be going there again . Really sad that this place has fallen so badly

My friends and I made a reservation at the Plano (Legacy) location to celebrate my birthday and it was an absolute let down. It was so uncomfortable that we decided not to actually eat here, after finishing up the wine we ordered and we left to enjoy a better dining experience at Fogo De Chao a few minutes away.There were other things that made the experience unpleasant but what took the cake was how unpleasant our waiter was. He was not friendly at all and pretty much acted like he did not feel like serving us. Ambiance and entire vibe = Negative energy. Definitely wont be coming back here for any reason just base don the service and atmosphere.

Food and coffee were not hot..Crab cakes were very fishy taste. Service was good for first 2 minutes. Seems like they did not have enough staff. Our server never checked back with us on if we needed anything. The desert was key lime cheesecake and the middle was still frozen. Would not recommend. My first time here. There are much higher quality restaurants around.

Reserved a table at CRU for Easter Brunch this weekend. The atmosphere at the restaurant is wonderful. The food was outstanding. I watched a man, who was clearly the manager, not only ensure guests were happy, but also run food out, assist with bussing tables, etc. Ive spent many years in the restaurant business, and frankly, he gets it ! Finally, I have to address our server, GABBY; courteous, professional, friendly, and every other adjective that defines excellence in customer service. We will be back ! Often !

We (as a family) are always looking for a place to have an Easter meal. We have tried Cru a few times previously (Watters Creek) with mixed results. My wife made this reservation late so we couldnt get in until 2:30 PM. We were seated at a nice table just inside with the bi-fold doors opened. The blood peach bellinis were very good. We got the risotto as an appetizer, also very good. For entrees we chose the steak & eggs with rosemary potatoes and crab cake Benedict. Both were very good. Heres the thing, the waiter (Robinson) was very matter of fact and not friendly. He did a good job overall but were spending a lot of money to be brushed off as just one more table to serve. Needless to say, it did not sit well with us. No manager ever came by to see how we were doing. That would have been a nice touch. Thanks for reading my review.

Crú is a solid choice for date night. The Plano location is spacious with lots of small tables for two or lounge seating along the back wall. I wouldn t say the menu is extensive but there are decent options to accompany the expansive wine selection. My date and I landed on a red blend from France with bruschetta. It was perfect for a late (8:00) date night. The staff wasn t friendly but not rude just ok. I do think exceptional service is what can turn a 3 star venue into a 5 star experience.

Perhaps we should check all of the reviews and see which group of people and having the most undesirable experience at this establishment. 4 Years ago I made my first review on this place. I thought I would give it another try. It seems things havent changed much. The waiter was in such a rush he never waited for us to complete our order. When one person ordered he would take off. Then we wouldnt see him until he returned with that order. Then the other person would order, he would take off. And could not make another order until he returned with that order. that each time we ordered one thing he took off. At on point we saw him wiping a table down where there were no customers. He seemed very agitated and screamed what from across the room. As if he expected us to yell from across the rom to him. I finally just look at him in a confused manner, an he eventually came to address our query. One of our group thought all of the wines in the flight tasted exactly the same. My first review from 2020 - The last two times I have taken a date to CRU wine bar in Shops at Legacy have been very disappointing. The very last time, I ordered a flight. One if the glasses actually tasted like coal oil and vinegar. After complaining about the flavor of the wine to the waiter, he returned to my table after speaking to the owner. And stated the the owner agreed that the wine that that particular wine was poured from was bad. I am not sure how that could happen, but that is what they told me. On my previous visit before this one. I could almost swear that two of the glasses in the flight had exactly the same wines in them. When I questioned the bartender about this, he simply Gage me a wry smile and assured me that this was not the case. Definitely, not cool. I dont think I would give this place another try. My suggestion, buyer beware.

The food is mid; stick to the wine. My friends and I came for restaurant week, and the atmosphere was nice; our server started off good, but that didn t last long. She kept disappearing, and we had to get up and go get her even though it was slow, so I don t really get that. The food was very bland, my favorite being the lobster and shrimp potstickers. The scallops and risotto were extremely bland, and the chocolate cake and crème brûlée weren t good. Overall, this is my second Cru location with mid-food, so I m convinced to skip the meals and only order wine.

Ive been here several times for wine tasting, champagne tasting with light meals, and breakfast, and the experience on each occasion superceded the previous. They always strive to raise the bar here, from the ever hands-on hosts and waiters/waitresses to the meals. They have a great variety of menus options, and the location is just perfect. Plus, their patio is the icing on the cake. Its an absolute delight! Highly recommend.

Really excellent small plate offerings. The goat cheese beignet and the meatballs were outstanding (there are two meatballs, but in the pic i had already devoured one of them). Wine is a bit overpriced, but its how they make their money, so not a big deal. If not for the overly loud Dr and his friends trying to one up each other with their name/location/spending stories, it would have been perfect. We will def be back, but we will go a bit earlier to get a patio seat.

Upon entering Cru Food and Wine Bar, I was immediately struck by the lack of a hostess at the entrance. A long 5-minute wait before anyone acknowledged my presence certainly set a less-than-stellar first impression. As for the dining experience, while the Waygu Meatballs and Lobster & Shrimp potstickers showed promise in terms of flavor, they couldnt compensate for the poor service. Our waiter was noticeably unfriendly and lacked engagement, which hampered our overall dining experience. Told the waiter it was our first time, but he never acknowledged it. Missed the opportunity to tell us about the restaurant. To add to the disappointment, the presence of flies and fruit flies throughout the evening was both bothersome and unappetizing. This visit left much to be desired. If not for the food, I would have rated this visit one star. Visited the restaurant on Sunday, August 6, 2023.

From the time we entered to the time we walked out it was an incredible experience! I needed a place close to the fountain down the street to propose to my girlfriend. Cru really went above and beyond to make our first experience with them a memorable one! The waitstaff was super kind and anticipated our every need! We met the chef that prepared our food! The GM, Paul Castro is such a high class individual. He really made us feel like we were his number one customer! Came here for a work dinner with 10 people. We were sat in a back room with a curtain. The atmosphere is dimly lit, but it does create an ambiance perfect for dinner. We ordered the goat cheese beignet, the fog and gorgonzola bruschetta, and the wagyu meatballs for appetizers. All were delicious. I ordered the Barolo Braised Short Rib plate for dinner. It was perfectly cooked. Our service was excellent. I will be back.

This place is disgusting. We had a reservation for Valentines Day, they were serving a four course meal. Staff was very nice. I dont know what was going on in the kitchen, but the food was disgusting and took forever. Mind you, they had a limited menu because of the holiday. Food was coming out slow, which is crazy because the first course was lobster bisque (that was the literal only option) and it took forever to come out, EVEN THOUGH it was a SHOT GLASS of soup. Im not being funny, it was literally a shot glass of soup. The risotto was incredibly sour. The mashed potatoes tasted like Instant Mashed Potatoes, the ones you buy from the store that come in a pouch and you mix them with hot water. The pot stickers were disgusting and the only food item that came out hot. It was just a hot mess. We were so annoyed we took the desserts to go, so we could leave faster to go anywhere else. Huge waste of time and money. Edited to Add: I was told to email for a resolution, no response to my email. Still. I emailed them, twice, on Feb 16 and Feb 23... its Mar 8.

Wow! Worse service ever! No acknowledgment to the table and waited over 3 hours before we ate. The waiter was rude, never stated his name and kept disappearing. The management was none existent and only attended to regulars. Several tables asked for an ETA on food and advised everyone was waiting... offering no explanation and again no apologies. My wife and I recently tried Cru for the first time for our New Years Eve/Engagement Anniversary. We frequent restaurants in the area and since I spent part of my early life in food service, as well as being the son of a family of restauranteurs, can tell when there is a good vibe and team running a restaurant. On our visit our first impressions were that the wine bar had a quaint and cozy atmosphere. We had a reservation and knew that there was a special menu for that night. We were greeted before even stepping foot in the dining area, which was really nice. We felt welcomed right away. Our Server (Kathy I believe) was great and attentive. Another Server, Robert, was also very nice. We had the Mussels as an appetizer-WOW! Awesome. My wife and I selected the Filet as our entree. Cooked to perfection and a tasty potato au gratin accompanied it with huge asparagus. I had a glass of Barolo based on the recommendation of the Manager, Greg. It was a great pairing! Greg made us feel welcome and it seemed to us that his staff and regulars really liked the place. That tells me that the restaurant is run the right way! We will be back to try some new wines! It s hard to find a place with a cool vibe and people like Greg and team that make it a point to make you feel at home. Give Cru a try if you are looking for a small, high quality experience.

I had a very disappointing New Years Eve experience at Cru Plano. The $70 dinner would have been unacceptable at any price. The short ribs were stringy, and wine sauce was not rendered and the polenta was cold. My date did not eat his and I sent mine back for the halibut which was overcooked and chewy. No manager visited our table after the issues. Even, low-end dining knows to always have someone visit a table after an uneaten dish and a sent back item. The dessert was dry and clearly just thawed out, the appetizer pasta was gloppy. It was clear whoever was in charge of the kitchen was untrained. To make matters worse, I contacted Cru privately twice with no response. I have wine here with friends probably 4 times a month - not after this. I would have been happier at Saltgrass or Carabbas for a third of the price. :(

Went to Cru to sit in the patio now that the weather is nice. You can order wine by the glass, bottle, or in flights- we opted for the zinfandel and cabernet selections, which we enjoyed. Five stars for service and wine selection! Mara provided excellent service and was so genuine and sweet(yes we told her boss) . The wine list is really nice, great selection of flights. The ambience here is really excellent. The food is more 4 star...but really youre there for the wine...the food is the necessary evil. Lol. The meatballs were very tasty. Id like to see an improvement on the charcuterie board, perhaps add a mild cheese rather than two pungent cheeses. But really...thats trivial. We had a lovely evening and will definitely return.

Took about 10 mins for anyone to come to our table. Two appetizers were ordered. They were delivered several mins apart. Main course was also brought separately. They brought my husband s pizza out and we finally had to ask about my meal. The manager came over with an attitude and said that they were ordered on separate tickets, which was an excuse. We told him about the appetizers not coming out together as well. He got very defensive. Instead of being apologetic, he had the ugliest attitude. We asked him to cancel the second meal. He came back with our check immediately. Didn t ask if we wanted anything else or even wait to see if we wanted dessert or another glass of wine. We will not be back. He was demeanor was so dry but when I observed his service towards white patrons at the bar, he was much A LOT more lively with them. I told my friend to turn around and observe him and she noticed the same. It s a shame for real. The appetizers were really good (meatballs and calamari). But my pizza wasn t all that. My friend had the fillet mignon, she asked for medium well and it was over cooked. The potato it came with was tasteless.

I had a horrible experience at this restaurant. Three weeks ago I received second-degree burns on my feet and so my balance has not been perfect as I ve had to wrap them every day and they re still very sensitive. When I walked in the man who greeted me was very hyper. I didn t really like his energy but I told him I was just waiting for a friend. He went over and talk to the bartender and then came back and said since I had adjusted my balance when I open the door they thought that I was drunk. They refused to serve me. The arrogant bartender even went so far as to insult my mother. These two men had no class, were rude and incredibly embarrassing. I ll never go back again. I would advise you to be warned.

We ordered 2 wine flights. They finally arrive. No explanation for either and he didnt remember who ordered what. Didnt see our server again until 9:00pm. Pretty sure he was cleaning and trying to leave? Had to order another flight with a different server (female - which was extremely friendly). Finally, our server came back with our check and a dead pen and a PENCIL. Then gave me attitude when I had to go find him to get a working pen. Horrible server, but we love CRÚ. Receipt says server was Robinson, but not sure if that was his name. Maybe service is better during the weekends? Parking: Street or across the street in the garage.

Cru was everything we thought it would be...Great ambiance and mood. Clasily lit...smart and well thought out wine selection. I had a Frogs Leap red Zin and my wife had Domaine Carneros to start...Rainbow trout fir dinner was cooked perfectly and the Crem Brulet was perfectly done! The front room gentleman was the greatest host. He was fun, excited to see us (we were walk-up diners.) He treated us like old friends, which was a pleasant surprise in the current hit or miss waitstaff market. (Wish wed got his name, and wanted to say bye when leaving, but he was spreading the love with a few another guests.) Carlos the bartender closed out our night with a glass of Pride cab...which was amazing. This is a great date night place that checks every.single.box! We will be back soon!

It s been a long time since I gave any restaurant a 2 star. But very disappointed in our visit. While excited they had a 30% off offer on bottled wine, they were out of several options. Our waiter was not friendly, all business, no smiles. We got a cheese board and it was okay . Extremely disappointed that in today s climate they did not have gluten free crackers to offer with their boards. Wine Bar Competition is coming down the street soon and I m looking forward to trying as I will not be back at Cru unless they up their game.

I ve wanted to try this place for awhile, and my friend and I decided to check it out last night. When we got there is was decently packed, but there were tables available. We walked in the restaurant - there s not a clear hostess stand and no one acknowledged us. After standing there for awhile, a man walks up and asks if we had a reservation. We didn t and he told us they were full. That s it. We re full. I understand it was a (early) Saturday evening and the open tables we saw could ve already been reserved, but he didn t even attempt to accommodate us. They ignored us at first and was then very dismissive. Funny thing, I did try to make a reservation first but their website isn t clear on how to do that so I thought it wasn t necessary and we would just wait. We didn t mind waiting, but they didn t even attempt to seat us. If reservations are strictly REQUIRED with no chance for walk in customers, they should post that. We took our business to one of the many other nice restaurants in the area. Maybe we ll have better luck at the location in Allen. Hopefully they are less pretentious.

My wife, daughter and I had a fantastic dinner here with good service. My wife enjoyed a glass of merlot with her entree and loved me for bringing them here. Great ambiance inside and out. Because my wife and I have been recipients of kindness, we like to pay it forward ourselves. The manager was very accommodating. We recommend CRÚ and will certainly return again!

The location and atmosphere are great. The service was confusing. Arrived around 6 to find the inside pretty much empty. All but one table empty. The host said people were there but I couldnt see them. Sat at the bar and got a bottle of wine. Much of it I had to pour myself. Left a couple of hours later to see many of the tables still empty. During that time, the host turned away couples looking for a table. Never seen a restaurant turn away patrons so as not to disturb ghosts at tables.

Juan knows what he is doing and what he is talking about, and you can tell making the customers happy is his main priority. I ve been enjoying Crú, both in Plano and in Dallas for more than 17 years. I ve brought many friends here and occasionally dined alone. The wait staff are always kind and attentive. The wine is delicious and affordable especially during their Happy Hour. Had I stopped going to Crú a few years ago, I would have given them a 5 star review, so fabulous is their food, wine, and wait staff. Alas, something has changed in the past few years about the ambiance of the Plano Crú. I used to be a once or twice per week regular. Recently, Ive not been able to afford to wine and dine there as often but on the three occasions when I have, something has always prevented me from having what used to be a wonderful, fun, enjoyable time. One time, I was seated next to about 15 increasingly loud and boisterous young women who drowned out the conversations of tables around them. More recently, it was only because I carefully checked my bill that I noticed I was charged full price for 2 glasses of Chablis that I ordered during happy hour at a supposed discount. The waiter did adjust the bill but, since reading multiple reviews of others who have had the same problem, it concerns me that this problem had not been addressed a while ago. The next two times, the manager, Sean, ( new as of four years ago), seemed determined to make me feel unwanted and unwelcome. After an $80 meal on which I left a 20% tip because it is the holidays, on the patio, I asked to speak with him. I was polite but frank and straightforward. He made it clear that he did not consider me to be a customer whose feelings were to be considered, told me he was not going to argue with me , and threatened to call the cops if I did not leave the premises immediately! I left, telling him that I would never be returning.

Came here for the 1st and LAST time to celebrate my friends birthday! We waited all night just to receive our appetizers. Then when our food finally arrived after waiting an hour or more it was ALL cold, over and uncooked for the Salmon dinners. The entire experience was horrible. So I asked to speak with the manager and he advised they were shorted staffed and two employees were at the hospital. This is unacceptable and I will NEVER return here. The portion size for what you pay is RIDICULOUS. The cook in the back was cursing out loud and complaining to the extent my entire table heard him. This location need new management ASAP!

Really cool spot! Me and my wife went here for a special occasion. Seating outside was really nice to watch the comings and goings at the shops of Legacy. Our server Austin was great! Now for the food. The lamb pops and butcher pizza were pretty lousy considering the price, but that pan seared half chicken is incredible. The wine flights were fun and helped my wife find a new favorite. Good casual date spot!

Love the atmosphere. I think this is our first time at CRU Food & Wine Bar and the experience is amazing. I took my date here after the movie for a quick bite. We order the Pear & Gorgonzola Stone Fire Pizza and wow! lol. The pizza is full of flavor. We both ending up fighting for the last slice. The pizza has the right amount of crisp and it has the right amount of sweetness and saltiness. The perfect balance. I need to try the other pizzas! Looking over the menu, I had a hard time deciding on what to order. They all sound appetizing. I will have to make a few trips.

This place has an excellent atmosphere with a really great selection of wines. I also highly suggest any of the pizzas. They are closer to individual flatbreads, but they are full of flavor on a thin and crispy crust. Try the mushroom truffle pizza if you want something really flavorful that you cant get at just any pizza joint.

I went here for the first time last Thursday night. I met a friend just before 9pm. Ive been to the Shops at Legacy many times but had never been to Cru. I didnt have any problem finding a parking space nearby. It wasnt very busy at all, only a couple of tables were occupied. We each had a glass of cabernet and we shared a charcuterie board. It was a nice place and our server was friendly and attentive. We werent there long, just met for a quick glass of wine so, I will definitely have to go back another time.

My husband and I came here for a date night and this was our first time in. Food was AMAZING and full of flavor. The reason for the 3 stars was because of our server and the manager. Guy was rude as soon as we were seated. Then didn t write down my order that we waited 35-40 min for that ended up being wrong. Not to mention, he didn t check on us once - we had probably about 5 people come to our table to check on us that wasn t him (whom were all really sweet) and the manager came to the table to tell me. As soon as I expressed by frustration he didn t seem to care. But I guess he tried, since he offered me a piece of bread and cheese while I waited for my food. All that to say, I just wish our first experience was better and we both agreed if we had just received better service - this would ve been a win for us!

As a wine lover I knew I was going to enjoy myself; what I didnt expect was the level of customer care and quality of the food. From the moment we walked in we were treated like the only customers there. Our server, Marissa, was friendly, funny, and knowledgeable about the wines. We never waited for a water top-off or to have dishes cleared. And the food was delicious; we didnt think the lobster & shrimp potstickers would work, but then we fought over the last one - I could have made an entire meal of them. We had the Chicken piccata and Butchers pizza as entrees; you almost expect food at a wine bar to be subpar since theres alcohol involved but thats not the case at Crú, this was one of the best meals Ive had in a long time.

This is more of a french restaurant than American (Google lists as American). We had the cheese platter, steak, scallops, pizza, and champagne between 4 of us. All was delicious. Waiter was extremely friendly and helpful with descriptions. we ate on the patio in the evening and it was very charming. My only complaint is I wish there had been more spinach in the side of Spinach Parmesan Risotto. I felt I had to hunt for it.
