Owner of the restaurant is very hospitable. Our group of 6 walked in to the restaurant for a friends birthday surprise. Food was delightful and delicious and there were also healthy and vegan options. Owner helped us prep the birthday surprise without us notifying them in advance. Overall had a wonderful experience.

Ordered the chicken Madras which was on special, quality was terrible, called restaurant to complain and the person who answered tried to convince me that Madras traditionally is more liquid than sauce-based. Ive had Chicken Madras in India even and many many restaurants and its never served as a watery spiced liquid. Ripped off.

Customer service is terrible. They don t greet you when you walk in or say anything to you. I found a hair in one of the dishes on the buffet. I told the man at the front counter. He didn t do anything. He didnt even care. He didn t ask where the hair came from or what food dish it was in. So the dish I found the hair in stayed on the buffet. They didn t pull anything off or even go look at the food in the line. I was so grossed out I told the guy I changed my mind and didn t want to eat there and left.

First time at Mumtaz for the lunch buffet (~14$) and really enjoyed it. I should have taken some pictures but there were approximately 12-15 items on the buffet line and everything was delicious. I really enjoyed their meat dishes and the naan bread was terrific. The desert rice pudding was great and they also had tomato soup I believe that was equally satisfying. I m an expert at Indian food but what I had at Mumtaz was spot on. Will certainly come again.

Phenomenal food, great experience! Went for the lunch buffet around noon on a friday: super chill and quiet, very nice staff, the buffet was clean and clearly labeled, the food was fresh and hot, and oh man was it delicious. Highly recommend the saag paneer, chana masala, and the tandoori chicken. At ~$14 per person, I seriously recommend anyone within distance to try Mumtazs lunch buffet. So so good, Ill definitely be coming back =)

Solid 4.0 stars. The naan here was perfect. So much so that we were all stuffed after doing a fair share of sopping up the delicious curries with the naan. Lunch buffet is on the small size at $14.95 per person, but the flavors were very enjoyable. Service was consistent with their team topping off waters and clearing plates from the table. A few smiles and pleasantries would easily bump the service to 5.0 stars. Inside was clean but without much decor. Overall, we very much enjoyed a Christmas Indian buffet lunch here and would definitely come back in the future. Vegetarian options: Saag paneer was yummy. Small but tasty salad bar available during the lunch buffet.

Got takeout this morning as soon as they opened. Forgot my wallet home to pickup my food but I put my name and number on the order. I go to pick it up and the guy was like you need to show me the receipt I could literally see the order on the counter because it was the only one?? Like I was lying about who I was or something. I was like ok fine, go out to my car, and grabbed my phone and came back in and he didn t even ask to see the receipt, he asked me for my first and last name. Like that s what I was trying to do before, why are we going in circles?? Rude as hell and abrasive. Made me feel so weird and like I needed to get out of there before he smacked me or something. Not sure what I did wrong lol. I got butter chicken and garlic naan. No flavor honestly, gonna go home and add some stuff to it to salvage it. Naan was good and mango lassi was delicious. Best Indian buffet in the Dallas area. It genuinely feels like other places are too mild in their seasoning. Mumtaz stands out in that their buffet is ridiculously cheap and the quality is better than everywhere else. Their curries like chicken Tikka masala and saag paneer are absolutely to die for, but their tandoori chicken and mimosas are quite serviceable too. Ive dined here as a university student at UTD 8 years ago to now and the quality is the exact same: fantastic. Their consistency is superb.

Most of the buffet dishes were good but the tandoori chicken was undercooked and bloody. One of the employees (old Indian man) was constantly coughing around us. At one point he blew and wiped his nose and then touched the serving spoons at the buffet without washing his hands. This was my first time having Indian Food and I ordered the Chicken Tikka Masala, The Chicken Biryani, and Butter Chicken. OMG...AMAZING! Everything was delicious! The chicken in each dish was so tender and full of flavor. The butter Chicken and Tikka Masala came with rice on the side and it was cooked to perfection. Very disappointed with customer service - long time customer, continued to come after moving farther away, stuck by when prices increased while portions became much smaller, but today was the last straw when we got home after driving 30 min to pick up our order and then discovered a wrong item packed in. When we called and requested a refund - were told we need to get back on the road and get the wrong item back to the restaurant? Great value - probably the biggest bang for the buck in Indian fare around. Tandoori chicken is always perfect, never dry and overdone, yet toasty. (Thats hard to do.) The food here is OK. Tried garlic naan, panner makhani and punjabi chai here. Chai was 1/5. It was not fresh and tasted stale. Naan s quantity and quality both were good. Weve been coming here for years now, but as the years have gone by the customer service has gone down the drain. No one greets you or takes your drink order. They just stand there and look at you until you say something to them. You also have to ask and remind them for refills. We kept giving them another chance hoping it would get better but it did not. Will not be returning

we ordered their butter chicken and it was the worst butter chicken ever. the sauce was watery and not creamy at all. i was very disappointed. we also ordered the non veg thali which was also a disappointment..the palak paneer had no flavor, the chana wasnt good..really nothing on that plate was good. The interior of the restaurant has a super old/dark/gloomy look it just feels so dreadful to sit in there and eat. But if the food was better, i wouldnt mind the looks of the restaurant but the food was awful i would rate this one of the worst indian restaurants in the DFW. I would never return here again.

I used to be a regular here until last night where I ordered the lamb masala which ended up giving me severe food poisoning and I have been vomiting it out all morning and afternoon and got severe chills. Won t be getting food here anymore and I d highly recommend the same for everyone else unless you guys want to puke out your dinner.

They have delicious food with many options, especially vegan options. We get delivery from them pretty much weekly and are always greatly satisfied. Nothing is too spicy unless you request it to be spicy. Very good quality ingredients. I highly recommend to anyone.

Our normal Indian restaurant that we go to was closed today, but I was having a serious craving. This place was conveniently on our way home so I decided to go for it. We didnt dine in; I ordered ahead on the website and we picked it up on our way back home. But the people who helped me tonight were really nice, and Id love to eat there in person sometime. It had a really nice atmosphere. To put it simply, the food was incredible. My husband, whos picky about his chicken tikka masala, said the stuff from this place was very similar to the other restaurant in our old town that we often frequented before we moved to Plano. And him saying that is equivalent to a rave. He ordered the mild spice level (poor thing grew up with parents from the Midwest, what do you expect), and he said that it wasnt too spicy for him at all and that it was really creamy and very good. My chicken biryani was pretty good as well. There is supposed to be a lot of flavor to biryani (the ultimate test at patience and good cooking, in my opinion), and they did such a great job with it. The chicken was fantastic and the rice was cooked well. It had just the right balance of spices. They also give you a ton of food here, and I can see myself eating on my leftovers for the next three days. The raita was delicious, the food was delicious, everything was so delicious!! Lastly, we ordered naan, because Im incapable of saying no to it, and I have never met a naan I didnt like. But I swear to God, the naan that I tasted tonight was some of the best naan Ive ever had in my entire life. And I have eaten a lot of naan, friends. I am very much looking forward to adding this place to our normal rotation of takeout places. Tl;dr: this place has really good food, and theyre really nice people, and they deserve more than four stars on Google reviews! AND FOR GODS SAKE ORDER THE GARLIC NAAN!!!!!!

Normally we love Mumtaz but lately the quality and spice level has been inconsistent. Wife ordered Chicken tikka with no spice and it was too hot for her to eat. I normally like spicy but I ordered medium and it s almost too spicy for me. Other times I have ordered hot and it barely registered. Good food but unpredictable for the price.

Today was my first visit to Mumtaz and it won t be the last. The restaurant looked clean and well lite when I visited for the lunch buffet. I was seated quickly and my drink was served quickly and promptly refilled when needed. I reviewed the selections on the buffet area and every item looked fresh and well-stocked. I great selection of various Indian favorites and each one tasted great. I thoroughly enjoyed my experience and will return again and I recommend anyone who enjoys Indian cuisine or would like to try it, this is a good place. The staff was prompt and friendly.

I see why it has 4 stars.. The customer service is mediocre to poor but the food is pretty good. This was my first time trying Indian style food and I ve been waiting to try it for several years. I was not expecting for it to taste as good as it did. The butter chicken was perfect flavor and so was the Chicken Tikka Masala which are the 2 that I was told to try for the first time. They were great!!

There was a roach on our table! We brought it to our servers attention & he killed it for us. He told us that it was surprising that it was in the dining room because they usually have roaches in the kitchen! They acted like it wasnt a big deal & didnt offer any sort of discount or compensation. Were never coming back!

The menu is small compared to other Indian restaurants but most of their food is satisfactory. I wasn t a fan of their tandoori, but all their other dishes were tasty. I especially like their goat curry and they hook you up with their Biryani. When I want to get Indian food but I am not in the mood for a feast or dont feel like trying something new this place is my old standby.
