First the decor is great. A lot of Mexican inspired decoration. Nice entrance with tequila bottles in the shape of calaveras. Tequila barrels are spread throughout the main dining area. Beautiful live plants at the entrance and throughout the dining area. The chips are homemade. Both green and red salsas were perfect with a little kick. I ordered the enchiladas verdes with rice and refried beans. The rice and beans were cooked perfectly tasted like my momma s. Two good sized enchiladas smothered in cheese and nestled on delicious green salsa. I was so hungry that I forgot to take a picture. Take my word for it, you won t be disappointed. Right in the middle of busy highway 518 in Pearland, this place is a perfect place to enjoy some homemade Mexican food. I will be returning. I am Mexican American and I approve this establishment.

This is a place that I used to love, and I would normally give it 5 stars. I ve been coming here for years, so I m not saying this lightly this place has lost a lot of good waiters and staff and I probably won t come back. The past couple times I have been here the wait has been very long for anyone to even take a drink order, no refills at all on water or sodas, and the waiters barely come by the table to check on you. And the restaurant is only half full! This place used to have live music on Thursdays, but no more. Many of the waitstaff that I used to normally see are gone, and I wonder what happened to the good people who worked here?!?! I m not sure what changed, but it s not for the better.

I always feel like this is 100% our go-to place. The food is fantastic! However, after many years of frequenting, I was a little offset with my recent experience. My husband and I had a rare day date. We had the shrimp cocktail...small as an appetizer. Shrimp was in tomato juice in a cup. All good, but couldve been colder, I spilled it onto the large plate and stirred it with avocado, Pico, etc. Asked for more limes. It came with a sliver. Waitress responded with more limes, and we placed our order for our meal. I had street tacos. Cilantro, a sliver of lime, all good. I asked for more lime. Yes, I get that I like lime with cold seafood and my street tacos. Im not talking about an entire lime or two. Just an additional sliver. Either way, after we ordered our entree, the waitress said extra lime is 2.00. I considered my options...1 dry sliver or pay the 2.00. I decided to make do. I canceled my lime order. We finished our meal and placed a to go order, but we received our ticket prematurely. No lime upcharge. Adding now, the same order x2 was to go. It was a chicken burrito. Irrelevant. Waitress brings us 1 order. We corrected...its supposed to be 2 of the same to go orders. She brings a corrected ticket with a new upcharge of limes in our original order. I did ask why the upcharge on limes, and she said because thats what it is. Lemons, there isnt an upcharge. Limes 2.00. Whatever, our ticket showed a 2.07, pretax charge for my original ask for limes, with our cocktail. Before we were informed of an upcharge. Really, I know we are eating out. I know times are tough for the restaurant business. I get all of it 100%. However, I feel this is a little sneaky. Changing when and if there is an upcharge, or adding an upcharge later or adding an upcharge including tax on the top of a pre-tax ticket, which then gets charged tax again is BS. I encourage everyone to look at what you are being billed. Its not about $2 bucks or $2.07. Its about principle and honesty. Yes, we paid our ticket and tipped the waitress. 20% its likely not her fault, although the delivery was not good. Perhaps the owner sees this message and doesnt ridiculously charge an upcharge with a margarita if a lime is asked for.

Bad Service, Food was cold, All my food was placed wrong, Waiter came only 2 times to the table, never refilled drinks after asked to do so. My tortillas never got here Talked to the manager and she did nothing about it, she said food was coming out as it was served , I saw plates sitting there on their end waiting to be taken to tables , I guess they serve it cold. All veggies looked recycled ITS POLICY, TO PAY FOR GRATITUDE FEE EVEN THOUGH I HAD A HORRIBLE SERVICE??? WAITER DID NOT GIVE ME A GREAT SERVICE AT ALL!! SHE DID NOT SHOW UP AT OUR TABLE JUST TOOK ORDER PLACED FOOD AND THATS IT OUR FOOD TOOK ALMOST 1 HOUR TO COME OUT AFTER ORDERING SERIOUSLY A HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE FIRST AND LAST TIME AT EMMAS WAITER NEVER STOPPED BY TO CHECK UP IF WE NEEDED SOMETHING OR NOT WE HAD TO WALK TO THE FRONT TO ASK FOR A DRINK OR TELL SOMEONE FOOD WAS MISSING WORSE PLACE TO GO TO!!! Came with high expectations, but was extremely disappointed. Atmosphere appeared fun and clean restaurant, menu looked like a decent mix of Tex-mex and more traditional Mexican options. I was served about 5 minutes after ordering, which is always a red flag. Fajita chicken in the enchiladas was clearly overcooked and then reheated in a microwave (dry, chewy, and no flavor). The vegetables (corn/peas/carrots) in the Spanish rice were black; I don t know if this was due to burning them, or if an age of the ingredient issue. Overall, food was bland, far more Tex-mex style than I expected (based on the menu), and concerns over quality of ingredients. I will say, they had substantial serving size, good for hungry teenagers that have no palate. Also, they do have a good selection of quality tequilas, but I did not have a cocktail on this visit.

Large menu to choose from, even better top-shelf tequila selection, and spacious for our big family group of 10. Service was a bit slow and our young server didnt seem very familiar with the menu nor knew anything about any of the premium tequilas in offer, which was a bit problematic as we requested more info and pricing of several -- and, every single time, the young lady had to leave for a few minutes and come back with an answer. Other than that, she provided courteous, albeit somewhat frustrating service [she didnt look too happy to be there :( ]. Apps started with a bunch of guacamole and chips - WHOA to the GUAC! Incredibly chunky, fresh, and obvi delicious. Entrees ordered by our group ranged from average to below average, but were all pretty well-seasoned. The standout for me, particularly because I find it harder to see offered at Mexican restaurants I typically frequent, was the COCHINITA PIBIL...in ENCHILADA form. Say WHAAA?! Yummmm! Sooo flavorful and HUGE. It smelled so good I devoured it for a bit before realizing I had not taken a photo yet. Ill note though, even that great dish was too rich to eat too much of, so it was definitely shared and we still had leftovers the next day. Would I come back? Absolutely! We just hope we get a different server that is better informed about their menu and outstanding tequila & mezcal selection.

I enjoyed the food but it really wasnt special for the price point it was at. The strawberry margarita was really good though but the price was not good. The service was mid as well, I honestly didnt know who our server really was, and it took a while to be sat, and then it took a while for them to come take our drink order. The best thing was honestly the decorations of the restaurant loved every bit of it.

First and last time here. We arrived at 9am on a Saturday and took a while for us to be seated as well as drinks served once we where. They only offer the breakfast menu before 11 and no chips or salsa until that time unless you pay extra for them. The only juice available was apple and only sodas or coffee. Breakfast menu is pretty much the typical eggs and bacon, menudo, chilaquiles. No tacos option where listed but they do offer them.

It has good parking in front and it is easy to go with someone in a wheelchair. I definitely recommend it! The decoration is very Mexican.

Been here few times for dinner. And have not seen them not packed. The services has always been wonderful. Today, was a totally different experience. Wait time was not bad, only about 15 mins for as full as they were. BUT... Getting appetizer(on time), refills, and never receiving whats requested as simple as some lemons was never brought nor fulfilled. Never were we checked on. But when you notice your waitress at the computer doing receipts. Instead of refilling your drink after asking at least 3 times and you have a 5 year old! And then your waitress goes and runs to other tables who were sat down after you. And never did she ask if we were ready for our order to be taken. But took the well dressed family order before us. She kept saying she will be back and the kitchen is busy Makes me feel like I was judged on my appearance. I wasnt dressed up. I do have tattoos and piercings. My husband has tattoos. Did she think we were not worth her time?? Waitress lost out on a very good big $30-40 tip. And dont go blame the kitchen! Youre always busy and you cant handle it by now?!

I have been going here for years. I have had almost every item on the menu and have yet have to be disappointed at all. My favorite meals are the shrimp cocktail and the gringa tacos. I give them a 5 star Rating for wait time, service, food, drinks and over all cleanliness. Definitely recommend this place to anyone wanting some great Latin food. this post was from a few years ago. Update review- sadly a lot has changed with the food and pricing. beans and rice are being charged as extras now , the mixed drinks have gotten more expensive, the price of the food has went up on top of the extra charges, the shrimp cocktail has gotten smaller and more expensive and the service that night was poor. The presentation felt very gentrified and lost its authenticity.

I was excited about the vegan and vegetarian options, and even more excited to see the nopalitos tacos. I love nopal. I ordered flour tortillas and got corn... and the nopal was pickled and canned! It was a corn and pickle taco for $18. NOT FRESH, NOT EVEN COOKED. My husband hated the guacamole which was less than a half portion and wasnt seasoned. Its clear the extremely high prices go to the atmosphere and bar, not the food or service. Theres a great Mexican place in Friendswood called Lunas that has better vegan and vegetarian options for less than half the cost and just as good of an atmosphere and bar! If youre plant based, you do NOT have to be limited to an $18 sour taco that came from a can. Go to Friendswood and get an entire sizzling platter of FRESH vegetable fajitas with ALL the sides and fixings for LESS than $18!

My husband and I just left Emmas and the experience was not good. I ordered the taco salad with chicken and my husband ordered a burrito. When the food was brought out I was told they did not have any ranch dressing. The offered Italian and blue cheese. I asked them to box it and I will take it home and use my own Ranch dressing. My husband said his burrito was burnt on the bottom and he basically ate around the burnt area. When I got home and went to put my salad into a bowl I found remnants of refried beans on the inside of the container and on the bottom. There were no refried beans in my Salas. I literally think they put my salad into a used container. I am now completely grossed out and threw it away. We used to be regulars here about 2 years ago and we quit going because food quality had gone downhill. Tonight my husband said lets give Emmas another try. Well, that was a mistake. I think it got worse. We wont be back.

Food was ok.. we ordered the Pescado Maya which was supposed to be red snapper, but absolutely was Tilapia. Pointed it out to the server and she just said, I put it in as the Pecado Maya... which may be true, but they didnt send out red snapper and instead substituted it with tilapia. Had plenty of both and know the difference.. loved the mojito but the ice cubes were so large and packed in, took about three sips and it was all gone.. definitely didnt get our bang for the buck.. Not likely to go back when obviously cutting corners to get 4 extra dollars out of a menu item or watering down an 11 dollar mojito. Service was good, just think the kitchen was working hard at trying to pinch pennies at the customers expense.

The chips and salsa were perfect with two different salsas. My wife loved the Emma Margarita which came with extra shots of tequila!! My daughter loved her strawberry limeade. I ve been going to Emma s for over 8 years. My friends and I go every weekend. I gave a one star review because we ve heard from many wait staff that management or owners treat them poorly. Finally, before Christmas our favorite waitress, M, who was beloved, quit due to being treated poorly. She was the hardest working, most reliable waitress we d ever had. The kind who makes going out to eat more enjoyable. Food is good, but way too expensive especially kid s meals. Drinks are too expensive. This was true before inflation and the pandemic. We are currently still going every weekend while we sample other places to go start going to instead of Emma s. In response to the owner- it s NOT defamation. This was told to us by numerous employees because they know we are regulars. I ve seen your aggressive comebacks to negative comments so I m tending to believe the worst. On par with others? Do you not think we visit other establishments? Los Cucos? Gringos? Jimmy Changas? My bill is half what it is at Emma s and you know it. Don t gaslight me. Yes, your drinks are great. The atmosphere is great. The service from *some* is great. The place is more than half empty when we go at peak times. Maybe, instead of going at negative reviews, change some of your ways. I can definitely see a hostile environment just from the way you go at reviews.

I have several issues with this place. I placed a to go order and who ever took my order over the phone asked if I wanted two fajitas or one and I m assuming that means the fajitas itself not the portion size of two fajitas. I get there and my total is super expensive and I m telling her what I understood she said over the phone. She looked at me as if I had two heads. Did not try to rectify the situation. If you were going to give me two portion size of food you should have been clear and said is this for one person or two people eating then I would have understood better. They did not try to rectify the situation at all they were not accommodating at all. Second issue is with getting shrimp fajitas the shrimp had the tail still on it I think that s lazy cooking it was undercooked and tough. The chips were disgusting. They charged me 4.00 for a small sour cream. I have had better Mexican food and better service. I usually go to gringos but they were not open and I settled for this place. However I should have tried some where else because this was very disappointing.

Drinks were great, chips and salsa are good, really like the atmosphere. The food was okay, and the service took 10 minutes to even come greet us and order drinks when it was slow. I like leaving great reviews, but the barbacoa enchiladas didnt hit me with anything special along with the rice and beans. Something was a little off with the texture. Im not sure if it was the tomatillo or the barbacoa. I liked the place and want to try a few more dishes, but tonight didnt give me the instant 5-star review I wanted.

I had a disappointing experience at this Mexican restaurant. Not only were the prices on the menu incorrect, but they also charged an extra $1.40 per tortilla, which felt unreasonable. The chips served were mostly crumbs, adding to the letdown. The service was slow and subpar, making the overall dining experience quite unsatisfactory.

First time trying this place. My husband has been sick for a week without an appetite, so this morning he asked for menudo. I placed an online order and went to pick it up. There were 2 elderly women working. One of the women handed me my order and I asked if there was plasticware in the bag. She turned to ask the other woman standing with her and the other woman told me No...there is no plasticware in there We charge for that (I just spent $60 bucks here!!). I said ok well can I purchase some because we are in our vehicle. I told her I needed to grab my wallet from the car. When I walk back in 2 seconds later, both women were nowhere to be found!! The food was ok, but I will not return here.

I recently first time dined in Emma s Mex Grill restaurant that left me with mixed feelings. The food was decent but nothing extraordinary; it didnt really stand out. Unfortunately, the prices were on the higher side, especially when you consider the quality of the dishes. What disappointed me the most was being charged an extra $3.50 for sour cream, which felt like an unnecessary add-on cost. But I should mention that despite the disappointing overall experience, there was one standout item on the menu the Barbacoa. The meat was incredibly juicy, flavorful and not too greasy, which made it a pleasant surprise compared to the rest of the meal. While its always nice to try new places, Im not sure if Ill be returning to this restaurant in the future given the overall experience and the pricing.

Vibe- This is a nice Mexican restaurant in Pearland! There s an area for outdoor seating and PLENTY of seating inside. It s very colorful inside :) Customer service- Great! Food/drinks- I got a peach margarita on the rocks to drink and I had some guacamole (chips are set out once you sit down) and tostadas without the cheese and sour cream. Parking- There s plenty of spots.

Atmosphere was good, very welcoming waitresses and servers, Then we got to sit down, let s just say this was the worse food I have tasted in Pearland wouldn t ever consider going here again, first get given chips which was cooked in oil reused so many times the chips was brown, had queso for appetizer which tasted like came right out the jar onto the microwave dish to be heated, so was getting bad vibes already so went for the most basic dish which no Mexican place could mess up a burrito, well I was wrong the flour tortilla was soggy and vile with beef inside that tasted like came out of a out of date can of ground beef. Never again will step foot in this place again and wouldn t recommend to anyone unless wanted to just have a water as that was the best thing tasted on my visit.

Great entertainment just sitting at the bar and watching the mixologist at work. Margaritas are wonderful. They now have live entertainment! Maria is an excellent waitress if you prefer to sit at a table. Update 7-7-23... Four of us (2 couples) enjoyed excellent service and food. It was fun talking to the Pearland Police Officer that came there to keep the peace in case of problems! Didnt get his name but he was very professional and friendly.

I met some friends there. The waitress came over and took my drink order, but once it was delivered, she disappeared. She kept tending to tables around us but never came back except to bring food for my friends and then walked away before I could place an order. I had to ask someone else for a kids menu and placed an order with a different person. Once my food came out, everyone else was ready to go. I had to take everything to go because my kids were restless. For the prices and the amount of people working, I would expect better service. I dont think Ill go back.

Owners of the original Melys located in their best location by cinema 6, now affectionately called Emmas. The food is very good, and the drinks are amazing. Ive personally sat at the bar while they juice and make all their own fresh mixers. You can taste the difference immediately. The best part hands down is that they have a nice size restaurant so Ive personally never had to wait to be seated. The price is on par with Gringos but while youre waiting an hour for a table at Gringos you could be sitting at Emmas drinking a cucumber margarita. One of their best in my opinion followed by the strawberry daiquiri.

There are a ton of Mexican and TexMex restaurants in pearland. The thing that sets Emma s apart is their House Margarita. It s wonderful! Also the shrimp tacos are great. The fajita meat is seasoned really well. Heads up that the street tacos are HUGE! You only need two. Only feedback is the chips are the thicker restaurant style. Not my personal fave, but the rest makes up for it. Great kids menu with variety.

Went there today with my family. We had a good server, but the moment we went outside to get in our car, a male employee rushed outside and looked at my daughter (who was standing waiting for me to give her signal to get in the car to avoid being soaked in the rain), his body language suggested that he wanted to ask her if she pay for the food or not. Twice he slightly moved towards her and hesitated. There were two Caucasian customers who left same time we left but they didn t treated them like they did us. It s a complete discrimination. We will never go there again!

Spoke with the Manager John today on the phone about my experience at Emma s two days ago. He cut me off saying if I had addressed the issue before I left the restaurant then he would ve been able to do something. I drove 30 minutes to come and try the food here and was highly disappointed. They had such a variety of menu options but I chose to stick with something I m familiar with. Chicken enchiladas. My friend and I waited 45+ minutes for two plates of chickens enchiladas and when they arrived at the table, they were a good temperature and looked appetizing. When we started to eat, we were shocked to see that they were basically sauced tacos the enchiladas weren t even rolled up, the tortillas were barely folded in half with the chicken falling out onto the plate. It was very messy trying to eat it. The chicken they used was advertised on the menu as fajita chicken but seemed to be some cheap frozen chicken you d see in a bag at HEB.. bland, and not at all fresh. During the 45 wait for our food we had to wave over the waitress because she had been very absent on our refills. We had needed more water, chips and dip and she had came by the table once on her own to refill our drinks and again right before our food was ready. While trying to find our waitress and more chips, there wasn t a single other employee in sight. Other than our table of two, there had to of been less than 4 other occupied tables with less than 4 people each. It was not busy at all. When we were done eating and ready to pay, our checks were EACH 30$ I got one meal and a SMALL queso, and my friend got a meal and ONE DRINK.. (soda). For the lack of customer service, attentiveness, the price of the food, and the attitude from the manager, I would never recommend this restaurant to ANYONE. Find somewhere else to eat. This place sucks. Two stars because they actually answered the phone when I called to complain and because it was nicely decorated..
