Hands down the best Japanese restaurant in Houston. It was the third time I placed a to go order. Everything I ordered was so fresh and tasty. It is so nice that there is a great Japanese restaurant near my house. Try their Akami( bluefin tuna) sashimi. Sam, the owner, always cuts generously! All the fish are so fresh. It is a family own small restaurant, but they are great people.

Its a Japanese restaurant with Japanese people, and its delicious and reasonably priced. I ate sashimi, sushi rolls, and tonkotsu ramen, and they were all delicious and I enjoyed the taste of Japan. You can tell the difference from the sushi at other Japanese restaurants by the vinegared rice. The restaurants specialty, yellowtail, was also excellent.

First time guest and I was very pleased. Firstly, my waitress was so kind and attentive. Secondly, everything was so good! Even though it s a casual dining restaurant the nigiri was top notch and the cucumber salad and ramen just made the evening even better. Sushi (nigiri) here is one of the greatest in Houston. They are prepared professionally and carefully by the sushi chef, who is also the owner of this restaurant. You ll be impressed if you sit at the sushi counter and watch his job. He said he had worked at a Japanese restaurant in New York before he moved here and open this restaurant. I am from Japan, so I know what the authentic sushi is.

They do sushi and ramen. I really wanted Ramen but they did not have any options for Ramen with seafood. I had calamari for an appetizer, if you are a calamari ring only person you wont like it but I enjoyed it. The sushi was amazing. Fresh and tasty. I had the super Shaggy and an Alaska Roll both were very good. The service was quick and restaurant clean.

(Rating: 0 s) Yellowtail sushi restaurant is easily the most disappointing dining experience Ive ever had. I have given this place multiple chances, hoping for improvement, but each visit has been consistently dreadful. To begin with, the fish served here is shockingly poor in quality. Everytime weve tried here, the sashimi had an overpowering fishy taste hinting that it was far from fresh. Each bite was a struggle, tasting as if the fish had been sitting out for far too long, teetering on the edge of being spoiled. The texture was equally unappealing, with a texture that should never be present in good sushi. Even the rolls, which should be a simple success, were equally disastrous. Poorly prepared, and found lacking with stale-tasting tempura crunch. Each visit, I ordered a variety of items to give a fair assessment, but unfortunately, no part of the meal has been redeeming. The nigiri was a particular low point. Ive never had such bad hamachi, and the flavor that suggested substandard handling and storage. Moreover, the sauces could do nothing to mask the underlying poor quality of the fish. To add insult to injury, the prices here are exorbitant. One would expect premium quality for the rates they charge, but what you get is far from it. Its as if they are charging top-dollar for bargain-bin seafood. Previously, when I had mentioned the fishy taste and questionable freshness, the manager responded dismissively, almost as if this was a common complaint they had grown tired of hearing and would rather ignore than fix it. I originally had chalked it up to everyone has a bad day, and after several months dared to try one more time. That was a mistake as there has been no improvement. In summary, Yellowtail sushi has proven time and again to be a colossal waste of money and an affront to anyone who appreciates good sushi. The overly fishy, nearly spoiled tasting fish, combined with high prices and indifferent staff, makes this a place I cannot recommend to anyone. I rarely leave negative reviews, but this is a necessary exception. Why didnt this place close instead of Firestone Pizza bar? Save your money, and your stomach, and find another sushi spot that respects both its ingredients and its customers.

Came in during lunch after our son s graduation. The waiter was prompt and friendly. Communicative and did some recommendations for us. This is our second time coming here and the food was all delicious! I love the King crab roll. My 6 year s old son loves his ramen noodle and tempura roll. My wife also indulge in the ramen in wagyu soup. They do have some daily specialty as well which I love.

Heard there was a ramen and sushi restaurant in Pearland! Of course we went to try their dishes yesterday! Ramen was flavorful and came out hot! Rolls were good! Also my favorite out of all was the salmon belly nigiri! So fresh and delicious! Next time I will try their nigiri and other sushi dishes as I was pretty impressed with how fresh the fish and perfectly seasoned sushi rice were. 10-13-22: We went back to try sushi this time! We ordered Houston maki, variety of nigiris: salmon, salmon belly, unagi, sweet shrimp. They were super fresh and delicious! Fish was literally melted in your mouth. Sweet shrimp sushi was the highlight of our meal. They were sweet and absolutely delicious! One of the best I ve had. Each of nigiri had thick piece of fish with perfect amount of seasoned sushi rice. Each order came with 2 pieces. Houston roll/maki was pretty big as well. We really enjoyed our lunch there! It will be our regular for sure. Come support them but be patient as there is only one chef making your sushi. It will all be worth it in the end. We had a chance to speak to the chef. He told us that he has been working as a sushi chef for over 20 yrs. He used to work at a sushi restaurant in Manhattan, New York. This restaurant for sure is the best sushi restaurant in Pearland for us. 9.28.23 - Came to our favorite place for lunch and was told that starting today they would have Uni and Otoro every weekend. Uni just arrived from Cali 2 days ago and Otoro arrived from Japan last night. That was such a good news since we had been waiting for this since they first opened. Let me tell you, they were delicious! Uni nigiri was so fresh and sweet! Otoro nigiri was literally melted in your mouth like butter. We also ordered Poisedon roll and it was spicy good! I can t rave enough about Yellowtail! 5/2/24 - We recently tried a new restaurant in Pearland called Nishiki. Our final verdict is Yellowtail. It is still the best sushi restaurant in Pearland. Ambiance might be not as nice as the new restaurant but food is so much better. Nigiri and Rolls are more flavorful. Fish was more fresh here and bigger as well. You get more bang for your buck. We finally took our kids and they loved the panko fried pork cutlet and chicken tempura. Yellowtail is our restaurant in Pearland for sushi without a doubt!

Cute and cozy sushi-ramen spot. There are a space for 30 people, I guess, not too big not too small, just right. We ordered Texas roll and Spicy chicken ramen. I dont know why it is called Texas roll, I expect it contains spicy sauce or something highlight from the state. Like California roll, they promote shrimp and avocado - it is very California thing. Hehe. The ramen broth is yummy, a little bit buttery and chicken fatty I spot on but overall, more than my expectation. I might be back here to try other dishes. They have counter seat which suits date nights (if you dont know what to talk to each other, just talk to the chef - two birds one stone )

Pleasant surprise for a local sushi restaurant in the suburbs. The sushi was very fresh and even the sushi rice was fresh compared to the stale rice you get at other locations. Its a small operation so the food doesnt come out blazingly fast, but I am totally OK to wait a bit for freshly made quality food. The ramen was good too and the server was super nice. As a sushi eater from Toronto, I found the sushi and rolls satisfactory. However, I felt the taste was average, and the pricing did not align with the overall flavor. Specifically, the diced shrimp tempura ($12) with red spice did not complement the original tempura taste. In contrast, the shrimp tempura with vegetables was more enjoyable ($18). Furthermore, I was disappointed by the unpleasant taste of the refilled ginger, which detracted from my overall enjoyment. Despite these points, I must commend the excellent customer service. In summary, I would rate this establishment 3.5 out of 5, considering the positives and the areas for improvement.

With my husband we have tried many different Japanese restaurants in Houston, and for this one in particular we have some things to point out. In food, we got some of the dishes that are actually the most simple looking but at the same time the easiest to make it wrong. We got takoyaki. They were overcooked, oily, salty and too simple. No other than tako and dough with some overwhelming sauce. No decorations at all like: green onions or other things inside the dough. The ramen was ok. For the makis: the electric eel flavor was overwritten by the mango. The initial D wasnt as spicy as they said. We also got some eel nigiri which was the only thing that really was yummy . About service, we arrived around 45 min before they closed. So knowing that, we order some green tea and easy dishes to try. Unfortunately we had to cancel a Green tea order because it took too long. We were about to finish our dishes and the tea never came. Looks like the water never boiled or maybe, because it was closing time they never did it. The waiters were so confused about who handles our table that they both were coming just too often to ask what we order. Anyways, they let us know that the kitchen was about to close, so we had to order in a hurry. About the atmosphere, it was there,, but I think instead of knowing how to make some dishes related to cousine (TV) they should show more Japanese culture, music, art style inside the shop. It looks very new imo, so the decorations need more refinement to make you feel in Japan.

Im so sad it took us this long to go in. We went in for lunch today - our waiter was great, he made great suggestions, and the food was phenomenal. We had a few pieces of nigiri as an app (each piece was perfectly seasoned) and the special brisket ramen (we asked for it to be spicy, it was perfect and so full of flavor). We just moved from Houston and this is BETTER than any sushi restaurant in the Houston area!! This makes me excited to now be living in Pearland. Everything we tried was beautiful and delicious - the hotate foie gras was THE BEST THING I HAVE EVER PUT INTO MY FACE HOLE!! The wagyu nigiri has likewise ruined all other steak for me for the rest of my life. The waiter was awesome and incredibly well versed on the menu, and the sushi chef here is a magician. Or an angel. Tried it for the first time tonight. Matt was our server and was awesome for his friendliness, his explanation of the menu, and attentiveness. The wagyu ramen was amazing! I believe its a limited menu item, but they should keep it permanent. The beef just melts in your mouth and the broth was very delicious. The lychee tea was nice, as well. Not very sweet, but I liked how it paired with my ramen.

Absolutely spectacular experience. We got calamari and brussel sprouts to start, as well as some spicy tonkotsu broth (had to try it and it was some of the best Ive ever had). For sushi we ordered salmon belly, hamachi belly, salmon hand rolls, the Houston roll (SO GOOD), and unagi. Sushi rice was perfectly cooked, the fish was beautifully cut in generous portions. Im not exaggerating when I say I wouldnt change a single thing about the food - ESPECIALLY at the prices theyre charging, a truly great value. Service was prompt, personal, and friendly. One of the best dining experiences Ive ever had, cant recommend highly enough.

Matt has the best knowledge of the menu. He explained all the sashimi items, chef special, and recommendations. He even explained where everything is imported from. Truly amazing sushi. We oftentimes drive into Houston for sushi, and no longer need to. This topped most places we had ever been to. The service was impeccable and high knowledgeable about the menu and origin of fish. The chef trained in Manhattan, NY and did his apprenticeship at the very first Manhattan sushi restaurant in the city, and you could taste the expertise in every bite. Coming back for more for years to come!

I used to have a positive review for this place, but Im withdrawing it now. Our takeout order was incorrect. I specifically ordered a spicy tonkotsu, which was also indicated on our receipt, but we received regular ones instead. When I raised this issue, they insisted that all their tonkotsu ramen are mild. Its confusing why they offer a spicy option on the menu and confirm it on receipts if they dont actually have it. I am usually supportive of local businesses, but this experience has shown a lack of care, poor service recovery, and a tendency to argue rather than resolve the issue.

Small but cozy sushi and Ramen spot. Chef/Owner Sam was excellent. You can really taste his passion in the nigiri and rolls. Had the Sunrise signature roll and it was on another level. Spicy tuna was amazing and must try the Pepper Tuna nigiri. I will be back again to try more rolls if the first was any indication of the rest. Must try for a sushi lover. All top grade ingredients.

This place was amazing!!! My siblings and I simply wanted to try a new place for ramen and were absolutely BLOWN AWAY at this place!!! The quality of the food, as well as the knowledge of the server, Matt, was incredible!!! We totally loved this place and plan on coming back as soon as we can!!! I would definitely have to recommend the Hotate Hokkaido as it was DELICIOUS and simply melts in the mouth!! Learning it is imported from HOKKAIDO and getting amazing sushi here in Pearland, TX is such a game-changer!! The place smelt like rotten eggs when we walked in. 2 minutes sitting down I asked my friend if we should leave, he said lets just stay since we were there. We ordered chicken based ramen since I dont eat pork and they did not let us customize our bowl at all. It was just meat, a buk choy, and an egg. The chicken was mediocre, the eggs were cold on the inside and gray on the outside like they were batch cooked and chilled for the whole night. The broth and noodles were good. The server was very nice and tried to accommodate for us, but we didnt get anything we wanted in our bowls because I guess the kitchen said no. When we left we both agreed it wasnt good overall. Im not sure how this place had the highest rating on google maps, maybe it was a one off bad experience but I will not be returning.

First time visiting here, and we were honestly delightfully surprised by this local gem! We got a chicken teriyaki bento box, 1 piece of uni, and a black tonkatsu ramen. The chicken teriyaki was only ok, but I did enjoy the veggie tempura that came included in the bento box. The uni had a nice smoky flavor, and my husband really enjoyed his ramen. The interior is nicely decorated and service was very attentive. Well be back!
