I typically will not write such a negative review. Birthday dinner ruined. I see that Sakura does not respond as many other places will to save face. We never even got to the food. We were seated with a family that apparently did not like our race. We were two they were six or more. After receiving multiple hateful gleers from the eldest of the family the host came to the table and told them that they would have to stay seated with us or pay 50 dollars for another table. The host was not even subtle about it and it further confirmed our thoughts that our skin color bothered the family. I told my girlfriend that it would be next to impossible to stay seated at this table with all the looks and comments that were being made. So I told her we needed to leave. The racist family got their table all to themselves. Sakura you need to send your employees through diversity training and tell them what not to say in front of other customers. Even though technically it was not the restaurants fault they should be trained to identify such issues before they have time to escalate. Fortunate part is I do work around a lot of people and visitors from out of state and they often ask me what a good place is to eat. Sakura was always one of my top choices but not anymore. Ill recommend their competition moving forward.

Just ordered online and when I showed up the food wasnt ready until 30 minutes after. While I was waiting spoke to the manager and she insisted that the food wasnt late, that I ordered when they opened. My suggestion would have been to change the website to reflect the actual time the food will be ready. When I got home the food was poorly packed - sauce everywhere. I had to remove all the sauce covered oranges and crab puffs from the original bento box. There was hair in my food, which is so gross. Total waste of my money and time. I will never be back and wouldnt recommend it to anyone.

My last and final visit to Sakura was 9/20/2024. I was very disappointed to the point of disgust and will never return. I took my grandsons out for dinner with my son joining us later. We have celebrated birthdays there and had dinner throughout the years many times. On this occasion the restaurant was not as clean as before, first red flag of many that night. There was HAIR in my grandsons salad, we should have just got up and left then. The waitress rudely stated what, do you want me to remove it I replied no you need to bring him a fresh salad. My grandson who is 13 and of course knew that this was unacceptable was clearly confused by this interaction. I ordered the 4 piece vegetable spring roll and received 3. I again asked the waitress about my order and was told the rolls are bigger so you only get 3. I, in response stated what was listed on their menu, the waitress then went on to say again very rudely that the owner made the change, can do whatever they want and the menu doesnt have to say that. I had her remove them. I ordered my son a margarita before Happy Hour ended and was still charged full price. Then we were up charged 2.50 for choosing fried rice for 2 hibachi meals. She asked if we wanted steamed or fried rice, there was no mention of an additional charge by the server at all. We were asked is another family could sit at our table and we said yes of course, its Hibachi. The server then charged that party of 3 and my party of 5 with 18% gratuity each, as if we wouldnt catch that on our receipts. We had the charges taken off because that fee applies to parties of 6 or more. This experience gets 0 stars from me because hair in the food, up charging for items an d absolutely horrible service

Misleading menu, staff doesnt know the difference between sushi and nigiri, terrible atmosphere. The sushi is the absolute worst sushi ive ever had in my life, i could only laugh after one bite because of how terrible it was. Id ask for a refund, but the staff look like a deer caught in headlights every time they have to approach the table, and as other reviews say theyd probably make some limp wristed excuse of why they have to keep my money. The atmosphere is disgusting, place just looks filthy and is very humid. I never leave reviews on where i eat because im very accepting and understanding of anything that comes my way, but not to warn other customers of this joke of a restaurant is a disservice to every human being on earth. Dont waste your time pearland.

food was great! my sever AK! extremely polite and professional, i wish the best for him and his endeavors. The rest of the staff here including the manger, the young hispanic female.. attributed to a nasty passive aggressive vibe. The hostess for the exception of one Nilyne , lacked hospitality skills, as well as other severs and manger on duty. The disrespect, felt discriminatory based(black young women). And we will not return:) I hope that others who choose to dine, are met with a better social experience beyond the food. The aura in that place is revolting. Eye contact and concise, respectful communication on staff part goes a long way. Thank you.

Hibachi Food & sushi is consistently good however the service is always hit or miss several times I ve had to get someone attention to be seated or order food. Food is delicious, and service ranges depending on what server you get. My main gripe is that there s a musty odor within the restaurant that s been there for ages, and I feel it s gotten worse. The bathrooms were disgusting and smelled even worse. The entire restaurant needs a deep clean.

If we could do zero stars I would. Unfortunately this was my first and last time at this establishment. We arrived at 3:15pm on a Sunday. We were sat fairly quickly and the server came over shortly after. Everything after that went downhill. We got 2 of the 3 drinks ordered and an appetizer. After 30 minutes we still didnt have the drink from the bar (which we could see sitting there) We got 1 of the 3 rolls we ordered. After checking with another server and the manager we eventually got the drink from the bar which had to be remade because the original had sat too long. After that we finally got the rest of our order. The food was good so that was not my issue. The service was poor. When we got our check there was a discrepancy of $5 which we questioned. We were charged for an item that should have been taken off. The manager came over and explained the issue. I suggested that he just credit the difference but he was not able to due to a system issue(which honestly is not my problem) So we ended up have to void the transaction and pay again for the correct amount. All in all it was a long drawn out experience which did not make for a good first impression.

We have gone there many of times over the past several years. Went for our an anniversary dinner a couple of weeks ago and my dinner was ruined for me. When someone asked for no vegetables, it means in nothing. My chicken fried rice had onions and greens in it. You have gotten right before. My steak also had several pieces of hard gristle. Just really disappointed for our anniversary. Won t be back.

Hibachi Dinner was overall amazing! Whats great? - Salad w/ ginger dressing, plenty of dressing, not watered down - Steak (NY strip & filet) seasoned well and cooked perfectly - They have YUM YUM sauce! - Happy Hour sushi deals, we had spicy shrimp tempura roll & strawberry margarita - both delicious! Not family friendly. We brought our young kids tonight who were really looking forward to the whole Hibachi experience. However, we were told it was a 15 min wait. We asked if we could sit in a booth while we waited and were told this was ok. Then 2 mins later we were redirected by host server who told us to sit in bar area. Once we approached the bar area we were brusquely reprimanded (by bartender Angel) that we could not sit at the bar. We felt quite unwelcome at this point. We addressed this to the manager who was lame in his response and we did not feel heard or understood. So we left and went to Shogun hibachi grill instead (which is just down the road btw).

I wish I had the chance to try the food because we were shoved around like cattle while waiting for Hibachi grill to be available. We were with small kids so decided to get some drinks while waiting. We sat in the booth but was asked by the receptionist to move to the bar. No issues, we start walking up to the high chair bar area and then this bartender Angel almost yells at us waving her hands in the air that kids are not allowed there. I took offense of that and told her she could have been a little polite about it and expressed how we have been moved around and felt unwelcomed at this point. Mind you, we did tell them we were going to order drinks from the beginning. She starts yelling back with all sorts of atritude. We were done at that point. Asked to speak to the manager but didnt get much out of it either. Sakura you lost a regular customer over your bartender who has no social skills.

I chose this place for my birthday dinner and it was amazing. I had visited once during Covid for sushi to go and it was fresh and good. The portions and price were very reasonable. My guests and I all enjoyed our food and our chef so much fun. We laughed and talked the entire night. They put my cake in the fridge and brought it out and sung happy birthday to me with most of the staff. I can t wait to go back.

I took my daughter for her first sushi experience and it started off on the wrong foot. We were seated by our hostess at a hibachi that orders had obviously already been taken for the 5 individuals seated. Jackie our chef looked puzzled as he approached with his prepped cart as an additional 3 people had been added to his section. After a brief pause, Jackie angrily barked at our waitress Turquoise (something to the effect of), I cant do this, they have to move!!! I was taken a back. Was he talking about us? You are being very rude!!! I replied. He didnt even acknowledge my statement. Turquoise was EXTREMELY professional and apologized and seated us at the grill next to the one we had been seated at. I was just about to leave with my family due to the disrespect of Jackie the chef, but because Turquoise was so professional and courteous, I wanted to make sure we took care of her and not let Jackies unprofessional attitude ruin my daughters wish of a sushi birthday experience. A manager came to our table to hear our concerns and after she left we no longer saw Jackie serving customers, at least while we were there. I appreciated that gesture. In the end, we had a GREAT experience. Turquoise took great care of us and our NEW chef Mario was entertaining, funny, and his food was great!!! Turquoise and Mario salvaged what started off as a terrible experience and created a great atmosphere on a gloomy rainy afternoon. Been to this place twice, both times our hibachi chef was really rude. He waved his arms around and acted like he was rapping. Then he called us foos. The first time he asked one of my teens if they wanna fight him. The man was joking but it was obnoxious. Im usually not one to play the race card, but this time we stayed a while after. He went to the grill next to us, it contained no black people and he acted super professional with them. He even looked back at us for a moment, almost to see if we were paying attention. I wont be coming back here. Too bad because i like their squid... the food was good. But i cant do the racism.

I can honestly tell you all this place SUCKS. I ve worked at 4 sushi restaurants throughout my 10 year serving career so I know a bit about how these places work. We ordered hot appetizers that came out lukewarm. I also saw our server sitting at the sushi bar glued to his phone. The fried rice tasted . Old. The beef in it was dry and flavorless. Also wasn t very hot. Maybe this place should invest in a heat lamp to compensate for how disorganized it is. Waited nearly 20 minutes for the sushi Deluxe I ordered . There were 4 guys behind the sushi bar all doing nothing when we arrived though . The sushi-rice ratio on my nigiri was wack. I got a tiny quarter-sized poorly-shaped rice ball under a fat roughly cut piece of tuna. Sushi chefs had no skill whatsoever. Never coming back. Save yourself a trip. The McDonald s by the new HEB down the road will give you a better quality meal than here. I wish I was joking.

Firstly, I like Sakura Japanese Restaurant. I have enjoyed hibachi five times this year, Happy Hour and sushi four times at the bar, and eaten in a booth once. Tonight, the hibachi was burnt. Obviously, the temperature was to high for the chef to cook effectively Everything was burnt, chicken, scallops, shrimp and the vegetables. I enjoyed the fried rice, but the visibly burnt and taste of burnt food was too much for me. Margarita was regular. Ambience nice, but Obviously short staffed.

The service was amazing and the food was pleasantly surprising! We had the garlic edamame and that was exceptional. It s the best edamame we ve ever had! We had the yellow tail app (that was fantastic); highly recommend. My husband has the fried pork, fried rice, and shaggy dog and it wa excellent. It tasted quite fresh. I had the udon noodles and fried shrimp, which was also excellent. Highly recommend this place.

My wonderful son took me to lunch here today. It was fantastic! Quiet enough that we could talk to each other without shouting and the food was fresh and very tasty! We will definitely dine there again! I only gave 4 stars for atmosphere because it was nothing special but it wasnt bad either. I ate the appetizers before I was able to take a photo 10/10 experience overall pricing, attentiveness from the server on refills and bringing sauces to the table, beautifully plated food from the chefs and was exactly what a sushi restaurant should be. I had a wonderful experience at the Sakura sushi restaurant and recommend if anyone is in the mood for sushi and are in the area to give it a try! They also offer hibachi for people wondering. I really liked their octopus and tuna nigiri. I got gyoza as well as an appetizer. I do order more than 1 roll so the price of what I pay is usually ~$20-$30 with appetizers and a lemonade.

Disappointing. Ordered to-go lunch special. When I arrived home I realized I had eel sauced poured all over my various types of rolls. Unnecessarily sweetened roles bc of this mistake. Secondly, on my shrimp tempura roll. The tail end of the roll (usually the biggest piece). Did not contain any shrimp inside of it. They had stuck a tail of a shrimp on top as garnish. Lastly, online lunch special indicates a soup and salad are to accompany your lunch special. This is the second time I ve arrived home sans soup or salad. I am very disappointed with my visit. We a party of 15 arrived at 8pm and was seated around 8:13pm. The waitress was very nice and helpful she took our drink order. She returned with the drinks and proceeded to take the food order. Most orders were hibachi meals. While we waited, We watched two tables being served by the chefs. After they finished those tables they left. We sat with our drinks waiting until about 9:20pm no cooks showed up. I saw one of the chefs walking around talking with other staff. We finally asked if anyone was going to serve us. We asked for the manager by then its 9:30. The manager came said we would still be served that they were short staffed while I watched some staff standing around or talking to someone. She apologized and was walking away when asked if we could get a discount or some compensation. She offered 3 desserts for 15 people. She walked away, but I was not pleased and asked for her to come back. I asked for her name, which she replied Eugenia. She changed and awarded us all free drinks.

I love this place! Great prices for sushi during happy hour M-F. Really cant beat it. They also have Hibachi, which the kids enjoy watching. Service is good! I love that its quiet until about 5:30pm, when the dinner rush hits it gets pretty loud & busy. They do have a patio but its not very big & is in direct sunlight (so only nice in cooler weather)

Initially our visit didnt start off so nice because the host was so very rude then he set us down and no one came to our table for about 10 to 15 minutes I had to flag a worker down and let them know that we had been waiting for quite a while. Once we finally got our server he was delightful.I ordered the hibachi mahi even though we werent able to sit at the actual hibachi station. I substituted the vegetables they give you for onions and broccoli and it was delicious It tastes a lot better than it looks. I was not happy with the staff at all but the food was good

Had a really good experience here. We ate a delicious meal which was value for the money paid and the ambience and service. Our waiter was kind enough to offer different choices to suit our needs (for example, a miso soup instead of the onion because of the base broth) Definitely recommend the gyozas, the maki rolls and the teriyaki grills. I and my husband used to go to this restaurant for a long time . It was always good, foods, services..ect.. But last time we visited couple week a go We had a bad experience. We ordered a Sashimi plate very simple and we had to waited nearly for an hour. as a point I can t wait no longer so I went to the front and told them we have to leave can t wait no longer!! They called the waitress and she came over to the Sushi bar to ask for the order , the Chef didn t even has my order ready!! I think they changed the Owner or Manager some thing. All Chef are not Asian ( because it a Sushi restaurant so Chefs have to be Asian) For sure this place it running down.

I love eating here and I love the food, but my biggest complaint is the customer service. The host, Eugenia is extremely rude! We asked her if we could sit in the other room and have a certain hibachi chef and she was very nasty, her attitude is awful and her response was that we couldn t eat in that room even after she sat another family in that room. Then finally someone came over and told her we could sit in that room and she took us but she had an attitude. She is unpleasant and does not need to be a host!

I love this place, excellent atmosphere, excellent food, honestly some of the best Ive had in the past time. If there is one thing i can criticize, it would be that my savings might all go into this restaurant, because i love the food so much. Especially the service, the service is excellent, top of the cream, the best stead, the best chicken in the coop. Antonio our server, was such a charm, we always look forward to him, and miss him if we dont catch him, Antonio is above and beyond the call of duty, my regards. We waited maybe 20 minutes before the hibachi was fired up. We did get drinks, soup &salad right away. Our waiter that day was very helpful, friendly and attentive of our drink(I truly love that and I give him ten stars for that). Watching the cook fire up the hibachi was exciting. We had our 1yr ild grandbaby with us and as soon as he lit the fire she was amazed and maybe a bit cautious though the cook clapped to our granbaby and celebrated it and there were no tears. That was my highlight! I gor to say the food was fresh and delicious! I had ordered the filet mignon with shrimp and of course chicken fried rice. The sauce they give on the side was delicious as well. I enjoy every bit of it! Thank you Sakura! I am not sure if something has change with management but the service levels have fallen off. In three different visits, the server did not make at least a formal contact to get water or check the table. In my very last visit he server passed my table 6 different times. We brought our kids and it was just a bad service experience. The food is good but service needs a major upgrade. There was literally no one in there at this time we visited.

We ordered 3 meals. Hibachi. The teriyaki sauce was spoiled! The pic below on the left is the spoiled sauce. Then as we were attempting to eat our meals we all noticed that the rice was VERY UNDERCOOKED! Hard grains throughout!! We asked for a manager. ANNA came over. She said she would adjust our ticket since we were only there for lunch and had to be back at work. We received the bill only to see that ANNA gave us a $4.74 discount on our entire bill!!!! This stuff is not even edible!! Rice is the cusp of the meal!!! We plan to NEVER dine here again and to spread the word! We started today by having our friend CANCEL here reservation for 10 guests for today!

First time here and I will be back. I recently moved to this area and was missing my regular hibachi spot so we decided to give Sakura a shot. The staff was inviting. We were seated immediately. The restaurant appeared to be well kept. Our server was great. She kept our drink refills coming without having to ask. She was attentive and courteous. Our chef was great. The food was prepared well and he listened. Im very particular about how my food is prepared and he made sure I was pleased. We were allowed time to enjoy our meal without feeling like we were being rushed to clear the table. Overall, it was a pleasant experience and we will be back.

This was our first time to dine at Sakura restaurant. The atmosphere was superb and Im in love with this place!! The food was very, very good! The waitress, Destiny was polite, energetic and very helpful when we requested certain items. I highly recommend this place for a great meal!!
