Honestly, the river itself was a five. The staff was friendly and professional. However, the two big problems were: 1) There are no steps that take you into or out of the water. You have to jump off of the wall about 20 inches below to the bank of the river. Not easy to do for children or those over 60 or with knee issues. 2) The other red flag for us was the condition of the shuttle pick up. No handles to hold onto to get into the van. When youre slippery wet its difficult to grab hold of vinyl seats. Also the step down was cracked on the side and is very dangerous. I nearly twisted and cut my ankle. Not impressed. Do better. You have a good thing here. But it could be SOOOOO MUCH better if you took care of what could be liability issues in the making.

Floated the river on a Saturday. It was crowded but the line moved quickly, was covered with misters, and they had a band playing while we were in line that was great. This section of the river was beautiful; however lots of people on it and some with annoying speakers. The van we took back was small and over crowded with no AC, which is why I give 4 stars.

I recently booked a raft trip with Rockin R on the Guadalupe out of New Braunfels. I live in The Woodlands. It had probably been 30 years since I last booked with them. It was a mixed bag. The good. Good location. Multiple locations. They take reservations. Mostly helpful website. Mostly helpful customer service on the phone. Convenient location. Competitive pricing. Lots of floating options. Lots of parking. Showers available. Restrooms available. Decent equipment. Great friendly staff. The staff is their best attribute if you ask me. They ask for customer feedback. First location to get out of the water clearly marked. Pictures with instructions at entry as to how to take the rapids. The bad. Non responsive to emails. No information on how much room in 2 man rafts for jugs and coolers (not enough for a playmate). Some difficulty allowing others to sign consent forms on line but it eventually worked. No place on customer feedback to deal with the problems I address here, and once submitted, you cant change it. Would be helpful to have signs on rapids as to which way to go but may be beyond their control. No place to pee or poop but where you are swimming. Again may be beyond their control. No place to get additional water or drinks or hydration. You would think with all the tourism this activity brings to the area the river authority would address this bathroom and water situation but I talked about it with the driver on the ride back and he said they havent. The HORRIBLE. One hour wait in line even with reservations. No separation of customers with or without reservations. When there it appeared there was some kind of a speed option but I didnt see it on line. Beautiful new parking area close to water entry but roped off so you cant access it. 2nd location to get out of the water not clearly marked at all and looked nothing like the photo they showed us to me. Cramped tiny mobile bathroom, 2 stalls. No areas for changing. Showers are half a dozen heads out doors far from the bathrooms. I might go back but Id be more prepared. My wife has no desire to go back. But they have so many people that are happy to raft with them every weekend I suspect my concerns are of little or no consequence. Overall a worthwhile experience but with some minor changes I think could be a lot better given the amount of traffic they handle.

40 dollars per person for 45 minutes. They did not inform us that kayaking would be only 45 minutes of time on the river. The website when booking says 2-3 hours. After we returned we complained about the brevity, it was after our trip was completed that we were told that if you start before noon theres a second exit that makes it longer. If youre kayaking do not go after noon. Also be aware that their paddles are garbage--theyre too short for the type of kayak. Our money was wasted, if there was ANY notice that it would be 40 dollars for 45 minutes and that for the longer trip we would need to start before noon, we would have delayed and gone another time. I hate to leave it at 1 star due to the nice bus driver, but ultimately want to provide the information that their website is lacking.

Experience 4 VFM 2 Customer service 1 The concept of drifting aimlessley down a slow moving river is an idea that can cater for the whole family. Gentle rapids, scenic backdrop, frequent turtles poking their heads up, makes for a relaxing afternoon, even becoming beached on the slightly submerged rocks, whilst inconvenient, still amusing. Ill precede this by stating that Mark, the gentleman who drives the bus back from the river was lovely. Well spoken, well mannered and personable. However, the two girls running the counter were deadset useless. Zero interaction beyond the obligatory statements. Uninterested, disengaged and gave zero explanation, on where to go, what side of the rapids to take, and where to get out or how long it should take. If youre casually cruising down to the first exit point, it shoukd take you around 90 minutes (of course river flow pending. Other than being told when the last bus was, the girl simply took licence and car keys, signed waiver, and ushered to the water. Luckily my partner and daughter had been before back in 2017 so they knew what was going on. The tubes were barely sub-standard, seemingly grabbed from the local wreckers. My family and i got tubes with bottoms to protect ourselves from the rocks. Theyre simply truck tubes, with a piece of plastic (in many cases broken with sharp edges) strapped to the tube with packing straps. My tube in particular needed constant tightening of the valve to stop it leaking. Nothing like bubbles in water making it seemingly suspicious implying theyre coming from the user. There is nowhere to secure your items. No lockers or anything of the like. There is nowhere beyond a portable toilet to change, which is unclean, and smells like an abomination, fumigating in the Texas heat, including the blood in the female toilets. No information given about what you can take with you down stream in regards to drinks etc. New Braunfels city catchment doesnt allow disposable cans, bottles etc but you can take your own reusable cup/mugs/buckets. You can even take your Stanley. The wildlife does add to the serenity. Saw an abundance of turtles, social dragonflys that come land on your tanning knees, even saw a deer. The disappointment continued once we were dropped back at the starting point where the same disinterested girls returned our belongings. The experience for the three of us cost $25 USD each and the tubes advertised on the website are not what was given to us. We were given the tubes for coolers, at the same price. If the other ones come without bottoms we were none the wiser.

My family and friends have been going to Rockin R for years, and we absolutely love the service and advice they give us. Although yesterday s event with a shuttle driver was definitely the worst experience we have ever had,. I don t think one incident should steer someone away from coming back to a place, but after confronting the actions taken by the shuttle driver, the management said their hours have changed, which is understandable, but it does not justify how we will be treated. Rockin R strives to be the best, so I think y all should evaluate the customer service aspect. We pay y all good money, and I think we should get what we pay for and should have the best experience as anyone else. Best regards.

Awesome and helpful staff. Always come here at least once a year. Edit 13-Jul-24: these folks care about the safety of their customers. I won t go into too much detail, but a mishap with the weather and an uncooperative inner tube recently derailed a planned trip. I love the folks at Rockin R, and they ve always accommodated the needs of my group. I want to give special thanks to Jessica, a wonderful lady (I would be proud to call a friend) who went above and beyond to make right the mishaps of our recent trip. If you read this, Jessica, just know that I ll never forget your kindness. It has not gone unnoticed, and I can only hope to have the chance to repay you for your help.

You have to pay to park, then fill out a waiver, the tubes are OK at best, they clearly were more focused on the advertising on the tubes than the actual quality though. Just know this place costs 35 dollars for the same exact service you will find at other places that charge 20 dollars. The parking is a joke too, they had all entrances and exits closed when it wasnt busy, and the entrances were closed off with straps that were black and nearly impossible to see from the distance. Unless youre looking for a little fancier spot to enter the river at, Rockin Rs blows and should be caller Robbin Rs. Go support the mom and pop spots that charge 20 and will git your the same experience!!

The website says you can take a 6hr long float to cypress bend park but when I asked 3 different staff members they said that was only for rafts, not toobs. We were really looking forward to a half day toob float but ended up doing the shorter one in 2hrs and then parked in river for an hour at end to make more of the day. Other than that issue, rockin r and river was good albeit expensive.

We enjoyed this river immensely last summer with our dog. We would buy the day pass and chill in the water with him. We were looking forward to another fun summer there, but that didnt happen. Last weekend, we bought our day pass, only to be told to stay in this restricted area which was deep and NOT dog friendly and not comfortable for us, we had to stand the entire time it was too deep for chairs. A few other couples expressed disappointment as well. So we went again this weekend, prepared only to be told NO MORE DAY PASSES. Instead, we had to buy a drink from the bar and again stay in the restricted area which was different. This time its by the first rapids , NOT dog or family friendly at all! As we sat there disappointed once again, we saw three large families sneak in . The security guards were too busy telling those sitting in chairs to go back to the restricted area, that they didnt notice! So we sat there disgusted , as we followed the rules and bought a drink. Only to see people sneaking in. Another large group was very disappointed when the guards came up to them . The young group of guys were very respectful, the guard explained its under new ownership and management. So many of us left disappointed, and will not be returning. I dont understand why they would change something that wasnt broken. So many families with littles and pups like us enjoyed the say passes . Very disappointed.

We visited this location last year and had the best time. We decided to come back to this location because of our experience however this year it was not the same. We arrived at 1030 and it was as if they were barely opening. My nephew needed a phone pouch and we asked for a blue one and all they had was pink, we we asked if they had others the girl stated they did and when we told her we wanted the blue one she said it would take her too long to go get from the back it will take me 20 mins we told her we would wait and she stated well basically I don t want to go so this is the only color we have. We were all shocked to hear someone tell us they didn t want to do something when literally getting bad to do that very thing. The air pump to blow up our floats wasn t connect and the girl attending that section basically wanted us to find the plug to connect it. Again they were not prepared. They open at 9. Then we go on our float- exit to get on the bus had to wait over 20 mins to get on. We get back to the main area and we are told that we needed to pay an additional fee to float again! That s the most insane thing I ve ever heard pay to float the same place again? Needless to say I will never be back to this location again. It s going downhill. Stay away!

This was such a disheartening experience. I hate to leave negative reviews, but rather than feeling relaxed upon this visit tubing with a friend I hadn t seen in months, her and I were both thrown aback by the very disrespectful and unkind attitudes of the young girls working here (and, sadly, it wasn t just one). There was not a smile shared by either of the little girls who we purchased tickets through, and then the other girls who put on our wristbands continued to talk amongst themselves and did not care to tell us where to put in our tubes or to have a good day. When we had to ask the man who gave us our tubes where to go, he agreed that the young girls that work this place are not helpful. Thankfully, he at least told us to have a good day: that restored some hope. As a 25 year old, I truly see why people my parents age and older are so disappointed in this generation. I hope and pray that Chad, who gave us free passes for the day out of a random act of kindness, can train these girls to be kind and that true leadership and responsibility when running a business stems from a sweet heart.

Days before the wedding I emailed and still no one returned an email. I called the Fri before the wedding, which was on a Sunday, and was told yes everything was set. Sunday came and no one showed up! I called numerous times and received no answer! The guests had to scramble to find rides and we had to delay the wedding so that they could get there. The next day no one returned a call. I had to call and ask for the refund. The woman who answered the phone, Wendy apologized profusely. Since then Ive received my refund but no acknowledgement that a huge mistake was made (its been a week and half now). I would not recommend this company for any transportation!!

Gift Shop Delights and Essential Tips for a Smooth Day As you gear up for your aquatic adventure, dont miss the opportunity to explore the gift shop at Rockin R River Rides. Its a treasure trove of river essentials, perfect for those uh-oh moments when you realize youve forgotten something crucial. From sunscreen to shades and everything in between, the gift shop has you covered, ensuring youre fully equipped for your day on the water. Speaking of essentials, remember to pack a hearty dose of sunscreen to shield yourself from the Texas suns embrace. And for those items that simply cant take the plunge, a trusty dry bag is your secret weapon against the rivers watery mischief. With these tools in tow, youll be ready to conquer the currents with confidence. Streamlined Ticketing and Navigational Know-How For a seamless start to your river escapade, consider purchasing your tickets online before arriving at Rockin R River Rides. This savvy move not only saves you time but also ensures youre swiftly on your way to the aquatic action without the fuss of waiting in line. Just remember, there are two distinct queues at the entrance, so double-check youre in the right one to make your entrance as smooth as a river glide. If you prefer paying your entry fee upon arrival, brace yourself for potentially longer lines. But fear not, once youve secured your float, head over to the nearby wristband pick-up area. Here, youll find a sign laden with invaluable information about potential obstacles, rapids, and the best route to take when the river forks. Its like having a trusty guide steering you through the twists and turns of the Guadalupes watery realm. The Bathroom Conundrum: A Cautionary Tale Now, lets delve into an aspect that may not be as glamorous but is undeniably important the restroom situation. This year, however, has brought a note of disappointment in this department. The restrooms outside the gift shop area have seen better days, with unsightly clothing items scattered about and a shocking absence of toilet paper. Its a scene thats hard to ignore and even harder to accept, leaving visitors aghast and rightfully perturbed. To add to the discomfort, the sinks lacked running water and the luxury of soap, leaving handwashing an impossible feat. While its evident that the building is undergoing renovation, the lack of basic amenities can be a letdown. Perhaps its a lesson learned if you cant provide the necessities, a temporary closure might be the wiser choice. A Glimpse of Relief and a River Revival But take heart, for as you embark on your river journey, a silver lining awaits. At the put-in, you might spot some of the typically superior portable bathrooms stationed by the rivers edge. While we cant personally attest to their cleanliness, they present a ray of hope for a more comfortable pit stop. In Conclusion: Embrace the Guadalupes Call Dear river enthusiasts and seekers of aquatic bliss, Rockin R River Rides beckons with a promise of exhilarating moments and a touch of cautionary wisdom. Whether youre grabbing forgotten essentials at the gift shop, navigating the ticketing labyrinth, or pondering the restroom realities, your journey along the Guadalupe River is uniquely yours. As you venture forth, remember that the Guadalupes beauty and the thrill of the ride far outweigh the minor setbacks. Its a call to embrace the rivers serenade, to surrender to the currents, and to create memories that will sparkle as brightly as the Texas sun. So, gather your gear, gather your friends, and embark on an adventure that will leave you smiling, splashing, and savoring every moment along the banks of the Guadalupe. Your Rockin R River Rides experience awaits jump in and let the currents carry you to a world of wonder! #lifeafteradulting

You can reserve tubes and rafts and pay online before you go. Checking in with reservations was a little slow and disorganized. Pick up shuttle was great. Go early when it is less crowded if possible. The river level is pretty low right now (August 2023), so we had to carry our raft in a few shallow areas.

Staff was friendly and there was easy access to get in the river, even for my mid-60 s Mom. Only suggestion would be to add a couple of additional air pumps to inflate personal tubes, we stood in line for an hour waiting to inflate our own tubes before we could starting floating.

We ve used this place lots of times in the past but this year was a total cluster - from their unclear web reservation information, to having to be on your own for parking at the Comal location, to their refusal to refund parking at the Guadalupe location if you accidentally stopped there,, to walking back to the shop after floating because the shuttle took forever! What a disaster! With all the competition now, I wouldn t go back. P.S. Their claim in the response below to get back with you is a lie. I emailed the address and never heard back!!!

This place is an easy place to find, has an easy, slow, float path, and staff is great. (hi Mckenzie:) It has great views . It took us about 2 hours, but we were paddling our way through quite a bit, so I could see it take 3 hours, otherwise. Once we exited, they drove us back to our car and didnt make us wait for others to arrive, which I appreciated. Lastly, if you happen to need some wet shoes, cell phone carriers, or other knick knacks, they have them. Enjoy!!

Very organized, easy reservation process. Highly recommend the tubes with no bottoms because the ones with a bottom have scratchy zip ties to hold the hard plastic bottom to the inner tube and a filling tube that pokes you. The float itself was great, peaceful and pretty with a few mild, but fun rapids, not too long, not too short. And the shuttle was ready at pick up and was a quick ride back. Would definitely go through them again!

Another great trip down the Guadalupe, a perfect way to beat this summer heat. Rocking R Greune location has done some great upgrades over the last 2 years. Really enjoy the bar after a long day float. Staff was awesome! As usual everyone was super friendly and helpful in picking the right trip. Have to hand it to the tube guys as those guys were hitting it hard when we left and when we got back in this summer heat. One thing to note that is kind of messed up is I told the kid handing out tubes that I left him a good tip when I paid. He said thank you but mention that the girls at the front who just sit and take money do not share the tip money with the tube guys. The other teenage boys confirmed that tip money is only for the girls sitting in the AC taking money. Hopefully management looks into this or people could be more informed that the tip money is not going to the guys out in the sun sweating all day. Overall a great trip.

I dont know if a simple review is enough. But it is what, at the least, I provide as thanks. The character of the manager here was amazing. Unfortunately I wasnt in a place to even think to ask. The staff we met was wonderful. I really appreciated how excited and loving they were of my dog. . I had a rough health complication on the river today. Got separated from my raft. Got hurt in an unexpected drop on depth. Fun in nature is risky, but I had the good fortune of this company making sure I was safe in bad odds. I was really over stimulated and over scared/stressed. I was in some of the worst pain Ive experienced. I was bleeding profusely. It was a mess and a struggle to stay coherent. Everybody was so kind and gracious... they came and picked us up. Didnt force me into a hospital trip I couldnt afford. I was worried Id be judged on my looks and not given assistance. Didnt even come into play. Some incredible family let me walk on their property and got me help. Thank you, to yall. I was a complete mess and bless them all for being so kind and gracious. It was so embarrassing for me. Everyone involved took it with grace and compassion. Gave me a safe environment to calm down. It was a very new and frightening event. Im used to having my husband or a kit on hand in case of emergencies. We were met without judgement, only a desire for help from everybody. My friend and dog were reunited with me. Everybody was sage. They got us quickly back to my car and thankfully my hotel was right across the road. So I was able to safely get taken care of and rest/recover the rest of the evening. Yes, this is how you SHOULD treat people. But that doesnt remove any validity from their considerate and selfless actions. This isnt what people NORMALLY do for others. Seriously, everyone involved deserves so much praise on their character alone. This is also one of the only companies I float with because Ive always felt safe and not like a cash bag. 10/10 Thank you all from the bottom of my heart.

The parking lot is large. There is a lot of staff on hand to help here. There is a store and a DJ. You can also eat or drink here as well. Convenient location. The float is roughly 3 hours. You can rent tubes, bring your own and a cooler if you like. They will pick you and your tubes up at the pick up point. They bring you back in old school buses. I highly recommend them.

Know before you go, the Double and Gruene locations no longer shuttle you to Riverbank, so if you want to do the long float, you have to go to Huaco or Riverbank and park. This was not explained to us until they shuttled us to Gruene from Double and everyone on the shuttle said they wanted the longer float. Staff was not helpful and told us we would have to be shuttled back to our cars and then drive there. We were able to make the 2 hour float lasts 6 hours because the water is barely moving right now, but I found the shorter float to not be as scenic as the longer one. They really need to train their staff better on explaining things and answering questions without an attitude.

Its $30 to tube here. When I questioned the price thinking it was cheaper the manager became accusatory of me of to prove where we saw it cheaper with an overly serious demeanor which wasnt necessary. She could have been more polite or offered me a year pass for $100. When I looked it up afterward I saw the average is $15-22 with everything included. I had never been tubing but I was right! Rockin R River rides does not post their prices anywhere even at the site, so they can charge what they want at any time. I do not like to be confrontational and I was not. It looks professional on the surface but when it comes to paying it feels more like a hustle. Do your research. There are plenty other outfitters to chose from that are just as good and more affordable where you can enjoy your time without a unwelcoming manager who rudely dismisses the customers and super sweet staff.

The crew was awesome! Especially the bus drivers! There is a taco truck, a bar, clean restrooms, and a place to buy accessories. (Sunglasses, hats, waterproof phone bags, etc.) There is also a covered pavilion to rest and eat. The river was a tad bit low but the float was amazing. You can pay $5 per person to re-float the river of you want. Plenty of shady spots to rest. My favorite spot was after the last rapid right before the exit. Shaded, calm water, and depths varied from knee to shoulder, so safe to play with small children. Open from 9am to 4pm. Make sure you are at the exit by 4.

The process is way too complicated for this place. Parking is a nightmare. You have to get shuttled back and forth, still end up carrying a poor quality tube. (Its a black tube, so you basically bake in the sun) Bring your own tube! The river was way too packed and people were crammed together like sardines. There are much better places to float. A person in our group almost drowned at the exit due to a mass of people and tubes. A bunch of tubes were tied together, it was a nightmare. The staff were nice and its convenient having a shuttle, but everything else was a pretty rough experience.

The location and town is beautiful and our driver that picked us up was a very sweet man, thats what Ill give the 2 stars for. However the bathrooms were so disgusting. It looks very calm but there was no mention or helpful tips given for 3 spots where there is stronger currents and lots of large rocks, I dont know if the water was low but it was dangerous and we all were very beat up. About 1/3 of the way down river I realized I was sinking, my tube had a hole in it, and I ended up having to abandon ship, and jump into the raft my sister had fortunately rented. Upon returning I asked if I could get a refund, and the staff couldnt be ruder. It was explained to me that I should have called them when it happened, which was never explained to us...nor did I take my phone in the water with me. Then I was told that there is a sign that says no refunds but they had to take it down because it was windy The man just shrugged his shoulders and said it happens all the time. Jerk!!!!
