We had a big family dinner here with 6 kids and 6 adults and it was one of the best meals we ve ever had! The food was phenomenal! From the ceviche, to the beautifully seasoned calamari, to the insanely flavorful barbacoa, every single bite was fantastic! Oh and the margaritas were dangerously smooth. The food itself is reason enough to make this restaurant a must- eat place, but the service was beyond lovely. Oscar and Adrian were patient, friendly, helpful, engaging, and charming. They were so welcoming, making us feel like we re guests in their home. Thank you both for making our evening exceptional!

Visiting from out of town, found this gem. I have had Tex Mex, interior Mexican food and been to Mexico several times, I live in TX. This hands down is the best Mexican food I have ever had. My husband and I are foodies. The quality and taste of food was amazing. The staff were very knowledgeable about the menu. I highly recommend the tacos and enchiladas. The margaritas were amazing. We like heat so we asked to try the two hottest homemade salsa s. Amazing, they served 2 very small portions and it was the perfect amount due to the fresh chips and distinct flavors in the salsa. 5 star for sure!! Can t wait to visit this town and restaurant again

Im not sure what happened but I changed my previous review from 5 stars to 1 star. We asked for chicken enchiladas, I have no idea what kind of meat they used but it was definitely not chicken, we ended up getting sick after eating them, also we asked for Margaritas but they were not fresh made. They werent friendly and seemed annoyed that we walked in even though we were the only customers in the restaurant. There was also a dog running around inside the restaurant.

Enjoyed lunch today at Sal-0-Mon and I will definitely be back. I had the Sal-o-Mon tacos and they were super delicious. The shrimp were cooked to perfection. And, my friend and I order the guacamole which is made fresh to order using a molcajete! She had ceviche which looked wonderful and she said it was very delicious. The dinner menu sounds amazing and I want to try the Blue Fin Tuna. Service was spot-on and the atmosphere is wonderful. This is the real deal for authentic interior Mexican cuisine.

A couple years ago I gave a 5 star review. A couple months ago, I brought a group of 5 to the restaurant to eat and try some wine. I had developed a friendship--or so I thought--with the restaurant owner, and he had offered me a free bottle so I decided to cash in. Well not only did he pull back from his promise, he started pouring wines and joining my group of 5 in drinking them. I thought well thats cool, must be on the house! Nope! After a few bottles, he brings us the check for $1200. Oscar the owner literally drank half of the wine he poured for us. He also intentionally decieved us when he purposefully chose wines that were above our pre-determined budget of around $100/bottle. When we asked to see a receipt--he could not provide one. To this day I have yet to see an itemized receipt. The owner, whom I thought was my friend, intentionally deceived my group of 5, and that is why I will never go back and I would encourage others to be very cautious.

The food was good. On a scale from 0 -10, I would rate it an 8. The chicken enchiladas were great. The avocado sauce on top was amazing, spicy, and hot. Good flavor from the avocado. The beans were good, what I expect from a Spanish restaurant. The rice was different, not my cup of tea, but it complimented the food well. The service was amazing. They were courteous and diligent to always making sure we had what wanted. Everyone is nice and passionate about their restaurant.

My overall experience was just ok due to the manager/owner being annoyed that I didnt like my margarita and then tried to argue with me bc I didnt like it. Which I said nothing about until he came over an asked me. I ordered a margarita with my meal not knowing it was wine based, but they do add a shot of tequila in it at no extra cost. The older gentleman proceeded to let me know over and over, and over with attitude that it was a $600 dollar bottle of tequila and the shot included for free was very, very expensive, again I did not complain nor ask for a refund or mention anything about not liking it, he came over to ask. However the margarita was not great or even good, but bc he asked I gave an honest polite opinion and he got very offended and decided he wanted to start arguing with me about it. Then also proceeded to let me know that I was the first person he ever came across that didn t like his margaritas. There for I would never go back nor recommend them to anyone. The overall atmosphere was very sad in there, very slow sad music playing on repeat.

Every salsa they had was filled with flavor BOLD BEAUTIFUL FLAVOR!!! The staff was phenomenal!!! The owner walks around and personally checks on everyone i mean just unbelievable . The culinary experience at Sal-O-Mon s is exceptional! The cuisine is true interior and authentic Mexican cuisine (not yellow cheese Tex Mex), and it absolutely incredible with authentic ingredients and flavors. Their wine list is the best in New Braunfels, and if you need assistance choosing a wine ask Oscar the proprietor - you will not be disappointed. And the service is exactly what makes a fine dinning experience fun and unique, with complete attentiveness to the details. Probably the best dinning experience in New Braunfels.

We were recommended this place. The owner served us and I think his son was cooking. The food was excellent. The prices are about 25% too high. We were given our beverages in cans without glasses. The rice was served cold then corrected. The chicken and steak were cooked perfectly and delicious. The owner suggested ceviche, that was the best salmon ceviche I have had in a while. He also let me try his homemade hot sauce, very good as I love spicy food. This restaurant has so much passion and potential, just not there yet. Dead bugs on the floor and high prices don t mix. I gave the owner a decent tip of 50% as I respect his passion, but there are many improvements that need to be made. I hope things get refined or the prices need to come down by half. Portion sizes were very small.

Kid-friendliness: We fed 5 children (11 mths, 2, 4, 7 & 10) and 2 adults. Check was over $100 w/gratuity for sub-par food. Tried it off of a referral that obviously did not have grandchildren, way too expensive for family dining, we are 1 and done.

We thought the food was good, but looking back at these pictures, my shrimp taco plate was $23 and had 2 shrimps per taco with beans and rice and they passed a strip steak as a ribeye on my husbands entree for? It was good but we did not get the food for the price we paid!

My family loves Mexican food and we have tried so many Mexican restaurants in and around New Braunfels; all of us agreed this was the best we ve had! The food was so flavorful and delicious. The service was great, super friendly guy waited on us. I would guess maybe he s the owner, but not sure. It s not like other restaurants where the servers are bustling around in a rush. It feels more like you are having dinner at a friend s house. You aren t in a rush, but there to enjoy good food and conversation.

The reviews of the tuna ceviche are what brought us in for a business dinner. The bluefin tuna ceciche was out of this world and the owner and waitstaiff were very nice and chatted with us about the menu and made suggestions on drinks and dishes. Everyone in our party of 7 was pleased with their meal- there were empty plates around! The seafood is fresh and delicious, and I know that were going to be back for more.

I found this place looking for something different than the normal offerings in New Braunfels. This place is phenomenal. I asked Oscar ( I believe that was his name) what are they known for and he recommended the pork belly tortas. The pork was amazing with avocados, tomatoes, sour cream sauce. It was heavenly. I will definitely be back!

Just AMAZING. I am currently pregnant and was craving breakfast tacos, we looked up local Mexican food restaurants but didn t want to go to the same bland taco house. I ordered tacos and they did unfortunately let me know tacos aren t on the menu, however the Owner himself graciously made an exception for me. I have to say absolutely the best!! The tortillas were 100% homemade and you could taste it. My husband had the Huevos Rancheros plate and it was absolutely stunning. He even said it was the best he has had! This is a place you must try if you are looking for authentic Mexican food and a locally owned restaurant!! Highly recommend! We will definitely be coming back and soon.

What can I say. I had high hopes based on reviews online. We went out of our way 30 minutes to eat here and I am shocked at the level of service and quality of food, especially given the pricing. We ordered the Patricia plate , similar to what one would think of a parillada at another restaurant. The plate came with 5 strips of chewy tough beef, unsavory chicken and a nopal that was bared cooked and still slimely to taste. My children will eat quesadillas and rice from literally anywhere, however both my girls refused to eat them due to lack of flavor. Luckily the adults salvaged the quesadillas by eating them with the Patricia plate given that the $35 plate came with NO TORTILLAS. I had to get up to request an order of tortillas (2 for $5.50). Lasty when we asked for straws (they were not offered) I kid you not they broke immediately when we opened them. I know this all sounds like I must be making this up, sadly no. I apologized to my family immediately after we walked out the door for picking this spot. I truly don t understand how this place has such high marks online. Would not recommend to anyone.

My fiancé and I decided to stop by on a work trip. The rib eye was phenomenal! Perfectly tender and juicy. We also had asparagus and homemade refried beans which were to die for. The beans would put any family recipe to shame! The asparagus were seasoned well and cooked to perfection! We enjoyed a lovely Tres Leches Cheesecake. It was a perfect ending to a great dinner. Not too sweet and was moist. The employees were kind and courteous. They were each very attentive and worked as a team to ensure our experience was great! The chef brought the food to our table with a smile and really amplified the family restaurant feeling. We will be back next time we are in the area. Thank you!

Ok, so when we were cancelled last minute at La Cos we were frantic to find a spot for about 30 members of our Dallas Firefighter family to dine together. When we called Sal-o-Man they said come on! I thought it might be a nightmare experience but this family restaurant served us at a high level. Even though they had a cooking class going on and had staff not show up, they ensured we were taken care of. We cannot recommend this place high enough. The food was amazing. Yes, we had food come out at different times and this is not a regular Tex Amex El Chico style place .but we were so pleased with our time as a family together and these people are absolutely the best. You do not find employees and businesses like this one. We can t recommend them enough. Get the mango ceviche and the ribeye. Plus they have a stellar wine list. We great mom and pop places and this one is five stars!

I will start by saying this is a restaurant you should definitely try! Not only for the amazing food and relaxed atmosphere but also for the friendly staff/ownership. I suggest that you go into this experience with an open mind and the idea that you are dining on a very authentic meal and forget expectations of other quick service and easy TexMex meals that are a dime a dozed in the area. Go to enjoy the authentic recipes that obvious come from the chefs heart and life experiences. Go with patience as great food takes time to prepare especially when its this fresh. Have the staff pair a glass of wine with your meal, you wont regret it. We started with the Sal O Mon appetizer which was for sure worth the wait although the portion size was a little small. My wife had the chicken Tacos with rice which to me looked a little plain but she said the Fresh corn tortillas and juicy chicken are a perfect combination. I had the Filet Mignon Fajitas which was absolutely delicious and a must try. The flavors are light and simple but allow you to taste the freshness of the natural ingredients in the dishes. We did not have the desert but I did see that the table next to us ordered the Tres Leches which looked incredible. Maybe next time. We are new to the area and this was a pleasant surprise and just what was needed to end a long week. Hope you find this place as charming as we did!

We stopped in for dinner recently and had a great experience. The owner is really friendly and knowledgeable about food and wine. We had the snapper and bluefin tuna which were both perfectly cooked, seasoned and had amazing sauces that complimented the fish. I cant wait to go back and try more items on the menu including breakfast, tacos, ceviche and various shrimp dishes. They also had several specials with various cuts of steak that sounded good. They have beer and focus on wine which I will try next time. This is interior mexican cuisine so dont go expecting your traditional tex-mex dishes. Nice location in a newer strip center where they did a great job with the interior.

I definitely have mixed emotions about my initial visit. There was good and bad hence the 3 star rating for this experience. Let me start with the good. Its obvious that they prepare their food from scratch, from the corn tortillas to the house made sauces. I started with a pork belly taco at $6.50 per taco. I found the meat tasty and crispy as I like it; however that price gets you 5 small pieces of pork belly on a small tortilla. I always look for value when i dine out. Price, portion, taste and presentation. The taco fell short. They top the meat with a little Pico. That taco was screaming for a tasty sauce because it was a dry bite. I also ordered the chilaquiles on their red sauce. The tortilla chips were crispy and the sauce was bold and spicy. The plate comes with one egg and refried beans. I would liked to have a little more of the red sauce because again it was a dry bite. The egg and beans were fine. I wont comment on my wifes meal since I didnt experience it. She ordered cheese enchiladas with white rice. Their hit sauces were very good. Lastly, what I didnt like was that the owner showed up late to open the restaurant. They open at 11am and he arrived at approximately 11:15. Not sure why. It just doesnt make a good first impression. They did work fast to serve us and another first time customer. This restaurant has a very reputation coming from Schertz in their relocation to New Braunfels. Despite all this, I want to go back one more time and give them another shot so I try other menu items. Oh, one more thing, you really cant see the restaurant from 306 because their sign is small and faded.
